Two years earlier, in ''VideoGame/PlayStationAllStarsBattleRoyale'', Polygon Man took dozens of beings from other worlds and forced them to take part in his "Battle Royale", with him being defeated by them all, but at the cost of setting up rivalries between some of them. Now, he's been taking some pantheon gods in to force them to fight in his [[https://tropepantheon.wordpress.com/battle-royale-round-two/ "Round Two"]]. Lightning Farron, having been a recent victim, is determined to put a stop to his schemes before this sequel could be made.

----
!!''Battle Royale: Round Two'' provides examples of:

* TwentyFourHourArmor: To trigger Lightning's memories of the Sanctum, Polygon Man forces Sora into the armor that he wears in Space Paranoids. [[FridgeLogic It's never explained on how he was able to trigger this]], since the armor is exclusive to computers. Most likely, it may have been a polygonal armor that took on a shape Sora would be [[AFormYouAreComfortableWith most comfortable with]].
* AscendedExtra: Most of the All-Stars now interact with each other outside the battle arena, with Raiden, Nariko, Zeus, Kratos, Jak, Daxter, Sir Dan, and [=PaRappa=] all playing important roles alongside Lightning. On the other side, Polygon Man has a much more active role, and [[spoiler:Dr. Nefarious even gets a bigger plot besides a cameo in one invaded arena]].
* AndIMustScream: [[spoiler:Sora]] said that he and [[spoiler:Riku]] heard everything their friends said while trapped in their [[spoiler:crystal sleep]]. This confirms that they were both conscious the entire time.
* AttackItsWeakPoint: During their clash, Lightning slashes Sora's right leg, not knowing the events of ''Dark Proxies'' left him semi-paralyzed from the knee down. This causes Sora to limp for the remainder of the tale.
* AttackOfTheFiftyFootWhatever: [[spoiler: The Beast.]]
** Zeus grows to his giant size while battling Master Xehanort.
** [[spoiler:The Biobliterator, in the climax]].
* BerserkButton:
** When Polygon Man called Crash Bandicoot "stupid", the latter responded by triggering his Level 3 Super on Spyro the Dragon (by forcing the purple dragon to wear Aku Aku).
** Later on, Daxter evokes this to save Jak from his brainwashing by claiming that Master Xehanort is [[VideoGame/JakIIRenegade Baron Praxis]], causing Dark Jak to attack him in rage.
* BigBad: Polygon Man
* BigDamnHeroes: Daxter pulls this off for Zeus by leaping onto Master Xehanort's face.
** And later, after being reassembled, Sir Dan uses his Daring Dash to save Riku from Chaos Bahamut's Mega Flare. Imminently after that, Jak sets his gun to "Mass Inverter" and triggers a paralyzing wave to prevent a second Mega Flare, and give Riku an opening.
* BigGood: Lightning
* BittersweetEnding: Downplayed for the most part. The tale ends on a positive note, but because of Caius, [[spoiler:Sora is wheelchair-bound because of a crushed kneebone, and Dante has to rebuild his temple]]. Fortunately, LaserGuidedKarma kicks in.
* BloodlessCarnage: Played straight most of the time, but averted [[spoiler:when Sora's knee started to bleed after Caius crushes it]].
* BrainwashedAndCrazy:
** Anyone who Polygon Man captures for the "Battle Royale" is put under mind control to either fight each other to death, or serve as bodyguards to the evil floating head (and becoming polygonal minions as a result). However, the victims retain their memories, and triggering their {{Berserk Button}}s can snap them out of the control.
** All of the victims are controlled via their brains, which justifies why [[spoiler:Riku, who's [[TheIncorruptible immune to corrupting darkness]],]] was under the control.
* BreatherEpisode: This tale takes place about two months after "Dark Proxies" and one month after "Stars of Moring"", but apart from Sora's leg injury and him being friends with Jak, this tale is mostly self-contained and focuses more on humor then the rest of the tales.
* BrickJoke: Caius sets Dante's temple on fire, and Dante has sworn to send the immortal guardian the repair bill. [[spoiler:In the epilogue, Caius is respawned in his temple to find that he's been billed for Dante's temple to be repaired, in addition to a medical bill for Sora's leg operation]].
* ByNoIMeanYes: Polygon Man's "surprise" to Ratchet.
-->'''Ratchet:''' Is it [[spoiler:Dr. Nefarious]]?\
'''Polygon Man:''' Wrong! It is [[spoiler:Dr. Nefarious]]!
* CallBack:
** Sora is still recovering from his leg being paralyzed at the end of ''Fanfic/DarkProxies''.
** When Master Xehanort takes control of Jak with the latter's dark eco, Daxter tricks his corrupted friend into attack the evil Keyblade Master by claiming that he's Baron Praxis.
** Among the answers to [[spoiler:Lawrence's]] CrosswordPuzzle at the end of the tale, there are "asylum" and "[[WesternAnimation/SleepingBeauty Maleficent]]". The first reflects "The Friendship Asylum", and the second reflects [[spoiler:Sora's bet with duos Ratchet and Clank, and Jak and Daxter, to see who will defeat Maleficent first, which was impaired by Jak's memory loss[[labelnote:Result]]Ratchet wins[[/labelnote]]]].
* TheCameo:
** Cameo Location: [[spoiler:The Keyblade Graveyard]] is the setting for the battle between Zeus and Master Xehanort.
** Lightning visits [[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Final Destination]] to talk to Master Hand.
** [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII Hope Estheim]] contacts Lightning over a communicator, since he is going through other commitments elsewhere.
** Polygon versons of the combatants from the first Battle Royale who are not in the Pantheon (Fat Princess, Big Daddy, Spike, Toro, Kat and Emmett Graves) appear in Polygon Man's polygon army.
** Coincidently, Kat would later join the pantheon.
* TheChewToy: Sora can't even get into a battle without someone attacking his broken leg, leaving him in a worse condition. By the final battle with Caius, Sora can't even stand up, leaving Daxter to tend to his injuries.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Like in the previous tale, Sora choses to save Riku from Polygon Man over the objections of Nariko and Raiden. He later realizes his mistake, and apologizes to Raiden for it.
* CowardlyLion: Sir Dan may be a coward, but he can still be counted on when things get serious.
* CrossOver: In addition to the All-Stars and Polygon Man, the tale also adds in [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII Lightning Farron]] as the protagonist, with VideoGame/CrashBandicoot, Franchise/SpyroTheDragon, [[VideoGame/DevilMayCry the original Dante Sparda]], [[Franchise/KingdomHearts Sora, and Riku]] as supporting characters, while [[spoiler:[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Master Hand]]]] appears at the end to help the party defeat Polygon Man.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Sir Dan is actually able to hold his own against Caius for a bit.
* CrystalPrison: Caius Ballard traps the two Keybearers in crystal as punishment for their actions. Sly Cooper is also trapped in a polygonal prison in the next chapter.
* CurbStompBattle:
** Sora, thanks to his broken leg, suffers one from a brainwashed Riku.
** Jak attempts to fight Caius by shooting him with his gun set to Peace Maker, but it got reflected by the eye on the latter's sword, defeating Jak in just one hit.
* [[spoiler:DancePartyEnding: Chapter 9]]
* DefeatMeansFriendship: [[spoiler:Dante befriends Reboot Dante, but the latter suffers a HeelFaceDoorSlam soon afterwards thanks to Evil Cole.]]
* DemotedToExtra:
** Compared with their previous appearance in "Dark Proxies", Ratchet and Clank are given token roles, though given some focus in Chapter 9 because of the presence of [[spoiler:Dr. Nefarious]].
** Riku and Sora are only side-characters this time around compared to the other tales, though they are involved in the B-story with Sir Dan. Sora's battle with Lightning is one of two that kicks off the plot.
** Sly Cooper also has a smaller role, though his recon mission does expose Caius as an ally of Polygon Man.
* DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu: Yes, Xehanort's [[TheChessmaster chessmaster manipulation]] failed for ''once'' as Daxter manages to use Jak's hatred of Praxis to turn the tables against Xehanort, potentially saving Jak from becoming a [[spoiler:Seeker of Darkness]].
* DistressedDude:
** [[spoiler:Sora becomes one in Chapter 6 when he races into a dark portal, chasing after a brainwashed Riku. Both were then crystalized by Caius Ballad while Dante and Cole were being rescued]].
** Dante and Cole are captured by Master Xehanort, [[spoiler:who uses the darkness in their heart to create Evil Cole and Reboot Dante.]]
** And in Chapter 9, [[spoiler:Sly Cooper is imprisoned in a polygonal cell]].
* TheDogBitesBack: [[spoiler:In Chapter 4, Caius sets Dante Spada's temple on fire, and Dante tells him that he's going to send a bill for the damage, which Caius gets in the epilogue. And since Caius also broke Sora's leg in Chapter 8, he gets a bill from Manga/BlackJack as well]].
* TheDragon: Caius serves as this to Polygon Man.
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler:Caius, courtesy of stabbing himself with Riku's Way to the Dawn Keyblade. Unfortunately for him, he [[DisneyDeath respawns]] inside his own temple, with a bill from Dante waiting for him]].
* EnemyMine: Zeus and Kratos really can't get along, but they ended up working together to fight against Master Xehanort. Once the latter is gone, they go back to fighting, to the annoyance of Jak and Daxter.
* EverybodyLaughsEnding: Chapter 8 ends on this note.
* EvilCostumeSwitch:
** Sora's computer armor could be considered this while he's under Polygon Man's control. Though he retains it after being freed until he returns to the pantheon.
** Downplayed with Riku. While he is under Polygon Man's control, he retains his normal shape and clothes, but is now purple and polygonal.
* EvilCounterpart: Riku sees Caius as one for himself. And in the climax, the Polygonal Minions are summoned, and become this for all the All-Stars, including those not present due to either fighting their own battles or not being ascended deities (at the time in Kat's case).
* FastballSpecial: Cole and Nariko do one of these together while fighting [[spoiler: the Beast.]]
* {{Foil}}s: The sub-plots between Kratos and Zeus (who are sworn enemies forced to team up), and Sora and Riku (who are close friends forced to fight each other), to each other.
* ForcedToWatch: [[spoiler:Riku was completely helpless when Caius breaks Sora's leg further, and then crystalizes him]].
* {{Foreshadowing}}:
** Sora justifies why he's choosing to join Raiden despite his leg injury by claiming that Riku would do the same for him, even if he was hurt. [[spoiler:Indeed, Riku defends Sora (and Kairi) from Xenagos [[EvilAllAlong and Stocking Anarchy]] in a later tale despite being injured]].
** Jak didn't take seeing two of his friends [[spoiler:trapped in crystal stasis]] very well, and triggers a minor HeroicBSOD in him. [[spoiler:He has to enter crystal stasis himself eventually]].
** Maleficent is briefly mentioned at the end, but Sora's bet against her would become a plot point in ''Fanfic/RainbowRivalries''.
* FormulaBreakingEpisode: Unlike the other tales, "Battle Royale: Round 2" is written to have character lines included in the narrative as opposed to their own brackets. Also, the tale is written in mostly British English, unlike most of the other tales, who use mostly American English.
* FourLinesAllWaiting: In addition to the main plot with Lightning, there are three subplots with other All-Stars to deal with Polygon Man's allies. The first deals with Raiden and Nariko saving Dante and Cole from their dark selves. The second is Zeus and Kratos being forced into an EnemyMine to face Master Xehanort. And the third is Sir Daniel Fortesque and [=PaRappa=] the Rapper trying to free two captured All-Stars from Caius Ballard. Jak and Daxter are involved in the second and third subplots, and Sora is briefly involved in the first before [[spoiler:becoming one of Caius' hostages]].
* TheGhost:
** While she isn't present, Kairi is mentioned by Riku in Chapter 8 when he tells Caius Ballard that he's not so different. Paddra Nsu-Yeul is also mentioned a few times by Caius, as her constant reincarnations are what is causing his suicidal madness.
** [[spoiler:Captain Qwark]] also gets mentioned in the epilogue by [[spoiler:Dr. Nefarious]].
* GoryDiscretionShot: [[spoiler:Sora's crystallization]].
* HandicappedBadass:
** Deconstructed with Sora, who's paralyzed leg kept him from being in top shape and left him helpless against Riku's Level 3 Super [[spoiler:and Caius]]. Who knows what could've happened had he been present when Raiden and Nariko fought [[spoiler:the Beast]]. It is also shown that he can't use some of his abilities with a bad leg, as Chapter Six mentions that if he was alright, he'd be able to use Flowmotion to help Dante and Cole.
** Played straight with [[spoiler:Jak]], as revealed in "Diamond Adventure! The Dark Mystery", since [[spoiler:he has a serious case of amnesia]].
* HeelFaceRevolvingDoor: Master Xehanort takes control of Jak though his Dark Eco to even the odds when up against Kratos and Zeus. Unfortunately for him, Daxter tricks his friend into attacking Xehanort.
* HeroicBSOD: Seeing Caius [[spoiler:crush Sora's knee and then crystalizing him]] forces Riku to surrender. Fortunately, [=PaRappa=] restores his faith.
* HoistByHisOwnPetard:
** Master Xehanort turning Jak into Dark Jak is the cause of his defeat.
** Jak himself suffers this by trying to shoot Caius with his Peace Maker... only to have the shot reflected.
* HopeSpot: [[spoiler:Riku breaks free of his control by looking into Sora's eyes, restoring hope to them both.]]
* ICanStillFight: Sora was left paralyzed in his previous appearance, and is still recovering. He insists he can still fight despite Nariko's worries over him. This would bite him back as his crippled leg is again attacked.
* ImNotDoingThatAgain: The plot of the tale. None of the All-Stars want a sequel to [[VideoGame/PlayStationAllStarsBattleRoyale the original Battle Royale]], and join forces with Lightning to put a permanent end to Polygon Man. Given there have been no attempts since, and with [[Franchise/KingdomHearts one All-Star]], and the son of [[VideoGame/{{Tekken}} another]], joining the ''VideoGame/SuperSmashBros'' team [[VideoGame/SuperSmashBrosUltimate seven years later]], it's safe to say Lightning succeeded in her goal.
* IShallTauntYou: [[spoiler:Caius does this to Lightning by showing her the two crystalized hostages]].
* JumpingTheShark: In-universe example. According to Ratchet, "Lance and Janice" had been going downhill since Lance "jumped over a pit of tyhrranoids on a hoverboard"
* KarmaHoudini:
** Master Xehanort flees from Dark Jak and is not seen again, with no mention that he has been punished. It does not help that he is an InvincibleVillain, and Kratos would not have come close to stopping him completely [[HeadsIWinTailsYouLose regardless of the outcome]].
** This can also be said of [[spoiler:Dr. Nefarious and Lawrence, as someone bails them out of the asteroid they're stranded on (again)]].
* KickTheDog: [[spoiler:Caius burns down Dante's temple and later crushes Sora's paralyzed knee before kidnapping and crystalizing them, respectively]].
* KnightOfCerebus: Caius Ballad is the most menacing of the major villains, providing a contrast to Polygon Man's LaughablyEvil LargeHam.
* KnowWhenToFoldEm: Master Xehanort wisely decides to retreat after being stomped by Dark Jak, denying Kratos the chance to finish him off.
* LaserGuidedKarma: [[spoiler:Evil Cole becomes The Beast, but loses an arm, which Raiden hands over to Doktor. Caius fails to commit suicide (and probably [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII2 kill Etro]]) and is billed for the damages he did to Dante and Sora. Dr. Nefarious and Lawrence are banished to another asteroid after the third biobliterator is destroyed. And Polygon Man is overthrown by Master Hand for his crimes. Only Master Xehanort escapes punishment]].
* TheLancer: Colonel Radec serves as Lightning's second-in-command when she recruits the veteran All-Stars to her cause.
* LethalJokeWeapon: Subverted with the chicken drumstick.
* LetsYouAndHimFight:
** The first two chapters focus on rival battles between Lightning and Sora, and Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon. The first battle was justified [[Film/{{Tron}} due to Sora's armor]], but the second battle was foiled because of [[VideoGame/CrashBandicootPurpleRiptosRampage a previous]] [[VideoGame/SpyroOrangeTheCortexConspiracy alliance]].
** Also subverted in Chapter 8, where Caius Ballard and Riku end up clashing to retaliate for Sora's broken leg. It becomes a three-against-one battle when Sir Dan and Jak aid Riku in the battle after their earlier attempts to fight the immortal guardian failed: Jak through a CurbStompBattle, and Sir Dan for [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking wearing the wrong armour]].
* LighterAndSofter: Compared to the earlier tales "Dark Proxies" and "Stars of Morning", which had [[spoiler:Sora and Jak crippled, Homura going insane, and Madoka depowered]], BRRT goes for a more lighthearted and humorous route.
* LimitBreak: Some of the new contestants to the Battle Royale have their Supers confirmed.
** Lightning tricks Sora into attacking Polygon Man with a ball of light during their battle. That is Sora's Level 1 Super: Pearl. WordOfGod says that Sora's Level 2 Super is Ragnarok, and his Level 3 Super is Trinity Limit.
** Riku's Level 3 Super is Dark Aura, which he uses while under Polygon Man's control to [[spoiler:[[CurbStompBattle curb-stomp]] a crippled Sora in their forced battle]]. WordOfGod says that Riku's Level 1 Super is [[VideoGame/KingdomHearts3DDreamDropDistance Darkest Fears]], and his Level 2 Super is a solo version of Eternal Session.
** [[spoiler:Caius turning into Chaos Bahamut and unleashing Mega Flare is his Level 2 Super]].
** Apparently, Crash Bandicoot's Level 3 Super involves wearing Aku Aku, though [[spoiler:he uses him on Spyro, instead, to free them both]]. According to WordOfGod, his Level 1 Super is the [[VideoGame/CrashBandicoot3Warped Tornado]] [[VideoGame/CrashBandicootTheWrathOfCortex Spin]], and his Level 2 Super involves [[VideoGame/CrashTwinsanity piloting Mecha-Bandicoot.]]
** Lightning uses [[VideoGame/LightningReturnsFinalFantasyXIII Overclock]] as her Level 2 Super, and [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII Army]] [[VideoGame/FinalFantasyXIII2 of]] [[VideoGame/LightningReturnsFinalFantasyXIII One]] as her Level 3 Super. Her Level 1 Super, according to WordOfGod, is summoning Odin.
** Spyro's Level 1 Super is his Supercharge. His other Supers are unknown.
** Dante's Supers are not known, and it's unknown if he has the same ones as Reboot Dante.
* MaliciousMisnaming: Daxter refers to Xehanort as boldy, then as [[CallBack Praxis]]. This is similar to how he refers to Count Veger as "Vulgar". Naturally, since then, others have called Xehanort "Praxis" at times.
* MechaMooks: Polygon Man's polygon minions become this after being hit by the Biobliterator.
* MythologyGag:
** Some of the characters use their Supers from [[VideoGame/PlaystationAllStarsBattleRoyale the game.]] For example, Zeus, Reboot Dante and [[spoiler:Evil Cole]] use their Level 3 Supers, Kratos uses his Level 1 Super, and Cole uses all three of his Supers at various points. Jak is even forced [[spoiler:to become Dark Jak while under Master Xehanort's control]], which is his Level 2 Super. Ratchet even tries to pull off his Level 1 Super on [[spoiler:the crystals holding Riku and Sora]], but Clank stops him.
** Like in the game itself, it's possible for All-Stars to wear different outfits (often worn in their own games) during clashes; hence, this justifies Sora's armor.
** Also, losing the final boss with Polygon Man results in the All-Star becoming a polygonal minion, like Riku does here.
** After cutting off [[spoiler:the Beast's]] arm, Raiden wonders if Doktor would be interested in it. Cutting off enemy officers' arms was a mechanic in ''VideoGame/MetalGearRisingRevengeance'' that would reward the player for collecting certain amounts of arms.
** [[spoiler: Doctor Nefarious and Lawrence end up on yet another asteroid in the epilogue.]]
* NeverMyFault: [[spoiler:Caius blames Riku for Sora being crystalized after suffering a CurbStompBattle]].
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Lightning ends up slashing Sora in the knee while Polygon Man forces them to fight. It worsens his paralysis and leaves him helpless against [[spoiler:Caius]].
* NiceJobFixingItVillain:
** A slightly meta example: The clash between Lightning and Sora could've turned into a WebAnimation/DeathBattle had Polygon Man not interfered. [[spoiler:The stacks would've been in Lightning's favour, so the interruption saved Sora from a grizzly death]]. Both would later take part in a WebAnimation/OneMinuteMelee against Wonder Woman and Link, respectively [[spoiler:(and win)]]
*** Ratchet, Jak, Crash, Spyro, and Sora all eventually participate in an official Death Battle. [[spoiler:The [[Creator/InsomniacGames Insomniac]] mascots and Sora win theirs, [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone to their horror]]]].
** Just barely averted when Riku almost breaks free from Polygon Man's control after the latter thoughtlessly mentions going after Sora again. He reassures the Keyblade Master that [[spoilers:[[BlatantLies he wouldn't harm Sora]]]], and claims he was meaning Toro.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatDown: Master Xehanort suffers one at the hands of Dark Jak.
* NoNameGiven: The teenage boy Lightning faces in the opening chapter (Sora) does not give his name out at all, and Light does not identity him until they escape because of his [[Franchise/{{Pokemon}} Shiny Bisharp]]-like armor. Even before he introduces himself, there is a lot of evidence pointing out to his identity.
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Riku points out to Caius that his StartOfDarkness was driven by his desire to save Kairi. But it is subverted when Caius points out that Kairi didn't constantly die and reincarnate like Yeul does.
* OhCrap: Daxter and Sir Dan both react like this when the possibly of Kratos being captured by Polygon Man is brought up. Fortunately, Kratos wasn't captured, [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere but Dan still tried to run away.]]
* OneWingedAngel:
** [[spoiler:Evil Cole transforms into the Beast to fight Good Cole, Dante, Raiden and Nariko.]]
** [[spoiler:Caius also takes on his Chaos Bahamut form while fighting Riku]].
** [[spoiler:Master Hand transforms into Master Core to defeat Polygon Man.]]
* TheOnlyOneAllowedToDefeatYou: Why Kratos helps Zeus fight Xehanort.
-->'''Kratos''': Do not mistake my aid for compassion, Zeus. I only fight by your side because this sorcerer would deny me my revenge.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: It takes Riku's Way to the Dawn, Jak's Mass Inverter, and Sir Dan's Daring Dash, to bring down [[spoiler:Chaos Bahamut]] for good.
* ThePowerOfHate: Attempted by Polygon Man by forcing Sora into his Space Paranoids form just to evoke Lightning's memories of the Sanctum. [[DefiedTrope Unfortunately for him]], Lightning sees through the ruse and tricks Sora into attacking their captor to free them both.
** Invoked with Master Xehanort taking control of Dark Jak, and forcing him into attacking his allies. Unfortunately for him, Daxter tricks his corrupted friend into thinking that Xehanort is Baron Praxis, whom Jak has had a sore sight on ever since he was 17 years old.
* PreAsskickingOneLiner: "Orange Lightning!" Said by Daxter when he leaches himself onto Xehanort's face and saves Zeus.
* TheReveal:
** A minor one in Chapter 7. Jak ''isn't'' immune to darkness, and thus, is a valuable candidate for the [[spoiler:Thirteen Seekers of Darkness]]. For this reason, he and Daxter consider Master Xehanort a sworn enemy. [[spoiler:Xehanort ultimately goes for Xion]].
** At the end of the tale, [[spoiler:we learn that Sora is wheelchair-bound after his encounter with Caius. At the same time, it's revealed that he has obtained a Mega Bracelet from Neku Sakuraba]].
* RiddleForTheAges:
** [[spoiler:Dr. Nefarious and Lawrence were rescued from the asteroid by someone using Corridors of Darkness. Who rescued them is unknown, with Xehanort, Lea, or even Naminé (who's a Persona in the TV World) being known to use them and are in the pantheon]].
** [[spoiler:It was [[TheManBehindTheMan Xigbar]] who saved them under Xehanort's orders, as revealed in Villains Report 17]].
* TheRival: The tale's three clashes in Chapters 1, 2, and 8 respectively set up rivals between Sora and Lightning, Crash Bandicoot and Spyro the Dragon, and Caius Ballard and Riku. These battles end with [[spoiler:Lightning, Crash, and Riku (with Sir Dan and Jak)]] as the victors.
* SayMyName: [[spoiler:At the very end, Nefarious shouts Qwark's name in anger as a result of a coincidental crossword puzzle that has "quark" as an answer]].
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: At the end of Chapter 7, Jak and Daxter both leave the [[VideoGame/KingdomHeartsBirthBySleep Keyblade Graveyard]] after Zeus and Kratos start fighting again following Xehanort's defeat.
* ShoutOut:
** [[spoiler:Sora breaks Riku free from Polygon Man's control [[Film/{{Tron}} through eye]] [[Film/TronLegacy contact]].]]
** Polygon Man makes Crash and Spyro fight each other. [[VideoGame/CrashBandicootPurpleRiptosRampage Cortex and Ripto]] [[VideoGame/SpyroOrangeTheCortexConspiracy tried it once before.]]
** Daxter says [[Film/TheAvengers2012 "Puny God!"]] after making Dark Jak attack Xehanort.
** In fact, the way Daxter makes his entrance in the Keyblade Graveyard, by leaping onto Xehanort's face, is similar to a "[[Franchise/RatchetAndClank Secret Agent Clank]]" movie, where Skrunch makes a similar leap onto Maximillian.
** [[spoiler:Chaos Bahamut is defeated by [[WesternAnimation/SleepingBeauty having a blade thrown into it's chest]].]]
* SingleEpisodeHandicap: Sora, due to his broken leg after the events of "Dark Proxies". [[spoiler:Near the end, Caius further breaks it to punish Riku for allowing the young man to suffer, and during the epilogue, Sora is seen in a wheelchair]].
* SixthRanger: All three main parties gain one or two: Cole and Dante to Raiden's, Sora and Riku to Sir Dan's, and [[spoiler:Master Hand]] to Lightning's.
* SmashCut: [[spoiler:We don't get to see Riku's crystallization. Instead, after he surrenders, the scene cuts to Lightning and her group arriving at the site]].
* SoapWithinAShow: [[spoiler:Again, when Nefarious breaks down, a clip of "Lance and Janice" plays. Ratchet states that the show had gone downhill since Lance "jumped over a pit of tyhrranoids on a hoverboard"]].
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: [[spoiler:Evil Cole, Reboot Dante, and Dark Jak]].
* SwitchingPOV: The tale is seen mainly from Lightning's point of view, though some have other characters in this role.
* TakenForGranite: [[spoiler:Sora and Riku in Chapter 8]]. And arguably, [[spoiler:Sly Cooper in Chapter 9]].
* TakeThat:
** Dante's darkness forms into his reboot self.
** Apparently, "Lance and Janice" has been going downhill ever since Lance "jumped over a pit of tyhrranoids on a hoverboard"
* TakeThatAudience: Spyro's reasons for staying in the pantheon is because no one is [[UnpleasableFanbase rabid about his backstory]].
* TeamMom: For the short time Sora was with them, Nariko was this as she worries too much about his crippled leg, and at the end of Chapter 6, wants to look for him before he hurts his leg even further, though Raiden tells her that Sora can look after himself, having faced Frollo and the Wargoyle during the Pantheonic Rebellion in spite of his handicap. It was too late, as Caius crushed Sora's knee during the battle with the Beast.
* ThisIsUnforgivable: Lightning won't forgive Polygon Man for wasting fifteen minutes of her time to fight Sora. It is also implied that Ratchet would not forgive Polygon Man for [[spoiler:forcing two of his friends into a crystal sleep]].
* TimeSkip:
** The events are set [[Platform/Playstation4 two years]] after the first Battle Royale, an unknown amount of time after ''VideoGame/LightningReturnsFinalFantasyXIII''[[note]]though Caius appears to come from an earlier timepoint, given his clash with Lightning has yet to take place, and he's also suicidal[[/note]], and also one month after "Stars of Morning", and between the third and fourth acts of "The Pantheonic Rebellion".
** The tale is also set before the events of ''VideoGame/Uncharted4AThiefsEnd'', ''VideoGame/KingdomHeartsIII'', and ''VideoGame/RatchetAndClankRiftApart''.
* TookALevelInBadass: Polygon Man seems to be more powerful in this time around, since he is able to brainwash combatants to do his bidding. He grows even more powerful after absorbing a Blast Core.
* TranquilFury: After seeing [[spoiler:Sora and Riku in their crystal stasis]], Ratchet calmly pulls out his RYNO V and prepares to shoot at the crystals [[spoiler:to free them]]. Clank warns him that the idea is unwise.
* TwoGirlsToATeam: Lightning and Nariko are the only female All-Stars included in the tale, though Polygonal Minions take on the forms of Fat Princess and Kat.
* TheUnintelligible: Averted with Sir Dan, who's able to speak in full sentences here. This was an ability he picked up near the end of ''VideoGame/MediEvil2'' after [[spoiler:going back in time and fusing with his past self.]]
* TwoGirlsAndAGuy: Raiden, Nariko and Sora all volunteered to save the missing All-Stars. Though in the next chapter, Sora leaves the party right away (and eventually joins Sir Dan's), [[spoiler:but Cole and Dante join upon being rescued]].
* UnwittingPawn: Riku, who gets captured and turned into a polygonal minion in Chapter 3. [[spoiler:He breaks free, but Caius then turns Sora into a crystal, causing Riku to surrender and be crystalized himself]].
* VoiceForTheVoiceless: Fortunately, Aku Aku is on hand to speak on Crash's behalf.
* TheVoiceless: Crash Bandicoot doesn't talk here, besides the odd yelp when he's injured.
* WeCanRuleTogether: Polygon Man makes this offer to [[spoiler: Master Hand (as Master Core).]] He refuses.
* YankTheDogsChain:
** [[spoiler:Caius crushes Sora in the same knee that had been severed in his previous appearance, undoing several surgeries performed, and delaying Sora's full recovery from the destruction of the asylum]].
** [[spoiler:Yes, Xehanort got away before Kratos could finish him, [[YouCantFightFate ensuring that his Keyblade War would proceed]]. On the other hand, he fails to make Jak his final Seeker of Darkness, which delays it even further]].
