''[[https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/perturabo-in-remnant-rwby-40k-snippet-collection.424234/ Perturabo in Remnant]]'' is a crossover between ''TabletopGame/Warhammer40000'' and ''WebAnimation/{{RWBY}}''. It's exactly as it sounds.

One of the greatest sources of Perturabo's bitterness in canon was that he only wanted to be a builder of civilizations and an architect of wonders, but instead was relegated to thankless sieges and other unpleasant tasks until he finally snapped. Well, in this fic, Perturabo gets his chance to fully realize his dreams. Needless to say, he takes full advantage of it, and Remnant is in for a serious overhaul.

''Perturabo in Remnant'' is not a single cohesive story, but rather a collection of snippets and mini-stories from a variety of authors about what Perturabo gets up to on his new home. It was started up by [[https://forums.spacebattles.com/members/wyval.321663/ wyval]] and has expanded considerably, with some authors creating their own timelines to write about. There are two main continuities: the first one by wyval has Perturabo get his start much earlier than canon (roughly 100 years beforehand) and the second by [[https://forums.spacebattles.com/members/jwolfe.103523/ jwolfe]] has his presence coincide much closer to canon (only about 20 years before canon events).

A sequel of sorts titled ''[[https://forums.spacebattles.com/threads/a-crusade-of-blood-and-dust-rwby-40k-snippet-collection.462484/ A Crusade of Blood and Dust]]'' contains snippets regarding post-Imperial contact and the events afterwards.

----
!!Tropes contained in ''Perturabo in Remnant''
* AdaptationNameChange: The Fourth Legion is named the Dust Warriors by Perturabo, since he's titled Lord of Dust rather than Iron. In the second timeline, they're named the Steel Sentinels.
* AdaptationalHeroism: Outside of their intellect and abilities, the Perturabo of canon and the Perturabo in Remnant are practically nothing alike. While Perturabo in canon was a sociopathic and perpetually envious man who betrayed humanity over a perceived lack of respect, the Perturabo who ended up on Remnant became a staunchly protective and noble ruler over Atlas who loves his adoptive family.
* AffectionateNickname: Perturabo has one for his adopted nieces and children. Weiss, however, regards hers (Snow Pea) as something of an EmbarrassingNickname, at least when referred by it in public.
* AllForNothing: Adam really backed the wrong horse here. While he was part of Perturabo's faction, he had prestige, authority and was looked upon with respect and even awe. But that wasn't enough, and he turned his back on everything he had in the hopes of become a godlike prophet in service to Chaos. Instead of glory and greatness, Adam only got scorn and disdain. Erebus and Kor Phaeron regard him as nothing more than a pawn to be used, Salem and her faction keep him around only so long as he is useful, and far from being chosen by the Chaos Gods, they don't even know he exists and most likely wouldn't care if they did. In fact, aside from his extremist followers (and even among their ranks, there are several of them who are thinking about overthrowing him and taking his place), Adam is universally loathed by everyone. It would be sad if it weren't so funny.
* AlternateUniverse: There are currently two different 'storylines' appearing in the snippets. The first one is where Perturabo has been on Remnant for an extended period of time (well over 100 years before canon time) and has greatly changed the world. In the second, his pod crashed there about ~20 years before canon [[spoiler:and is adopted by Penny's canon father.]] In this timeline, he is considerably less involved in the world's affairs.
* BeenThereShapedHistory: Perturabo has been involved in pretty much every major event on Remnant, including the Great War.
* BenevolentAI: Penny manages to convince the Mechanicum and Leman Russ that she is this.
* BerserkButton: Perturabo is, for the most part, a reasonable and mellow person. But, if anyone he cares about is threatened or harmed in any way, shape or form, then he will fly into an apocalyptic fury with a single-minded determination to destroy whatever poses said threat.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Perturabo is one of the kindest people you could meet and is normally a GentleGiant. If you manage to get him mad, they'll be burying what's left of you in a shoe box; assuming, of course, there actually ''is'' anything left.
* BittersweetEnding: In one continuity, the Heresy turns out far better than canon; the Emperor is still alive and lucid, all but five (six if you count Omegon) Primarchs stayed loyal to the Imperium and the war was far less damaging than it could have been. Unfortunately, the Emperor is still confined to the Golden Throne due to it being damaged during the Siege of Terra, several of the Imperium's most prosperous realms have been ravaged, and the Primarchs have suffered a number of deep personal losses, especially Perturabo.
** In the other continuity, the Imperium is also better off than in canon, but the situation is still grim. Dorn and Sanguinius struggle to hold the remnants of the Imperium together from Terra, while Guilliman rules Imperium Secundus/Ultramar as a mostly-independent fief. Magnus and Perturabo govern the Solar Alliance, and are labeled as renegades by Dorn, and despite Sanguinius' attempts at diplomacy, the situation devolves into a SpaceColdWar.
** The final confrontation between Perturabo and Salem. [[spoiler:It results in a MutualKill, though it's implied that he's not dead, just incognito for the time being]].
* BoyfriendBlockingDad: Perturabo with regards to Penny. How protective, you ask? The first time a boy flirted with her, he immediately began to write up plans for a database containing information about every boy in Atlas, though Winter managed to talk him out of the idea. He also gave the boy a polite warning that went along the lines of "If you flirt with my daughter again, I will dismember you with my bare hands and no one will ever find your remains."
* BodyguardingABadass: As with his brothers, Perturabo has his own Honor Guard, the Myrmidons which are made up of Astartes, Huntsmen and robots. Also like his brothers, he doesn't really need protection.
* ChickMagnet: As becomes readily apparent from reading the threads, Perturabo is quite the ladies' man. Unfortunately, one of his paramours was/is none other than Salem.
* ClingyJealousGirl: Salem to Perturabo.
* DarkMessiah: Adam Taurus is this for the Faunus of Remnant after he gets tutored by First Chaplain Erebus. Not that it was particularly hard, since he already had an ego the size of a moon and considered himself superior to most anyone.
* DeathWorld: Remnant may be safer thanks to Perturabo's efforts, but it's still a dangerous place to live. The Grimm remain an ever-present threat, and can even spread to other worlds if not kept in check. This, of course, allows Remnant to be perfectly able to produce a good selection of Space Marine candidates for the Dust Warriors.
* TheEngineer: Perturabo in the second continuity by [[https://forums.spacebattles.com/members/jwolfe.103523/ jwolfe]] leans towards this.
* EntitledToHaveYou: As far as Salem is concerned, Perturabo belongs to her and no one else.
* {{Expy}}: Of Klaus Wulfenbach. Perturabo's manner of enforcing peace and order is very much in like with the Baron's way of thinking, though lacking the whole "all-conquering" thing. Mantle, before it became Atlas, had been defeated in the Great War and Perturabo spent years building it back up in the hopes that they had learned their lesson. Instead, no sooner had he left, when the new leaders decided to go right back to what they were doing that started the war in the first place. Perturabo, feeling that enough was enough, promptly marched back to Mantle, swatted aside any resistance, and took the reins of power for himself with a warning that people had better not make trouble for him.
** He also has traces of Whitebeard in him as well. Perturabo cares nothing for personal power or glory and values family over all other things. And like Whitebeard, harming those dear to him is nothing less than a declaration of war.
* FaceHeelTurn: This time around, Ferrus Manus fell to Chaos alongside Fulgrim. Now the two work together to wage Black Crusades against the Imperium.
* FallenHero: Salem didn't start out as the monster she is now. Before, she was a kind and joyful woman and was close friends with Ozpin and Perturabo (she also had much deeper feelings for Perturabo than merely seeing him as a dear comrade and it's implied that their relationship went a good deal further than platonic friendship). Unfortunately, due to her overconfidence, she was struck down by a new breed of Grimm and, just as it was about to finish her off, the Chaos Gods came to her and she fell to their temptations. Now, Salem is driven by her obsession with Perturabo and is determined to have him, regardless of the cost.
* AFatherToHisMen: In a complete one-eighty from his canon self, Perturabo cares for the well-being of his Astartes and even encourages them to be more than just warriors. It's also a bit more literal in his case since they are his gene-sons and, like any good father, he wants his sons to succeed.
* ForegoneConclusion: Things may be going swimmingly (for the most part) for Remnant and the Imperium in the early stages, but once the Heresy kicks off, a lot of the good things are going right down the tubes.
* GadgeteerGenius: Perturabo [[spoiler: Polendina]] is this in the second timeline. He's no slouch in the main timeline either.
* GeniusBruiser: Well, lets see...Perturabo is a Primarch, meaning he's essentially a living demigod that can kick the kiester of just about anything that picks a fight with him and even among his brothers, he's in the top tier when it comes to inventing things.
* GeniusLoci: Beacon Academy is this, thanks to being constructed by Perturabo.
* GladiatorGames: Pyrrha Nikos has to take part in one when she is sent as an emissary to the World Eaters.
* TheGoodKing: While Perturabo is officially only the High Minister of Atlas, it's widely acknowledged that the title is little more than a formality and he is for intents and purposes the undisputed ruler of the kingdom. Knowing this, Perturabo holds himself to very high standards and works tirelessly to keep his people content.
* HappilyAdopted: Ren and Nora get taken in by Perturabo after he saves them from a horde of Grimm that destroyed their village. Needless to say, they're quite happy having him as their father figure.
* HateSink: In the main continuity, there are three individuals who stand totally reviled. The first two are Erebus and Kor Phaeron, the treacherous Word Bearers who started the Heresy and, in this case, betrayed Lorgar when he wouldn't sign on. Then there is Adam Taurus, an egocentric man who believes it is his right to lead his fellow faunus to his idea of glory and betrays Perturabo, who had once considered him to be a valuable subordinate.
* HeelFaceTurn: A good portion of the Primarchs who turned traitor in canon stay loyal here. Mortarion softened up thanks to Ruby's efforts, Lorgar wasn't so badly rebuked by the Emperor and thus never had a reason to turn against him, Sanguinius managed to get Curze help with his visions before they overwhelmed him, and the events that lead to Magnus's betrayal never happened.
** Cinder Fall doesn't become the ruthless, power-hungry villain she was in canon, thanks to Perturabo getting to her first.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: Ozpin and Perturabo are closer than brothers and have supported each other through all the highs and lows of the past hundred or so years.
* HonoraryUncle: Ruby, Yang and Weiss have all made Pert this. As befitting of his vastly more amicable nature in this fic, he also doubles as a CoolUncle.
* IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy: Winter, Glynda and Cinder all have romantic feelings for Perturabo (who has similar feelings for them), but he's an immortal demigod who would have to watch them grow old and die, and so don't try to force the issue.
* ImpossibleGenius: Perturabo, being a Primarch and all, is naturally leagues above anyone when it comes to science and inventing in both timelines. Pretty much everything he builds is far superior to any counterpart and baffles other people as to how they work. In jwolfe's timeline, that really aggravates the Schnee Dust Company.
* LargeAndInCharge: By default, being a Primarch and all, Perturabo is at least twice the size of everyone and he is very much in charge. Anyone who says otherwise is a liar.
* LivingWeapon: Baetylus, the sentient artificial Dust crystal created by Perturabo. With its full power unleashed, Baetylus is essentially a localized Exterminatus.
* LovedByAll:
** Perturabo is one of, if not ''the'' most beloved figures on Remnant and the Imperium regards him as among the most admirable of the Primarchs.
** The Dust Warriors are among the most respected and loved throughout the Imperium, right alongside the Blood Angels, Salamanders and Space Wolves.
* MadScientist: Watts, full stop. He has absolutely no qualms about using people, including ''children'' in his experiments to merge Grimm essence with mortal bodies. To him, the only thing that matters is progress. He ends up having to side with Salem after Perturabo gets wind of his work.
* MoralityPet: Ruby serves as one for Mortarion after she gets sent to him as an emissary. Thanks to her, Mortarion softens up considerably.
* OmnidisciplinaryScientist: If there's any field of science that exists, Perturabo is a master of it. If it doesn't exist, then it soon will.
* PapaWolf: If there's a surefire way to get Perturabo in a murderous temper, it's threatening his family. In one snippet, Leman Russ realizes that Penny is an artificial being and demands a trial by combat to see whether or not she's a soulless mechanical abomination. It's also pretty obvious what will happen if he decides that's what Penny is. If it wasn't for Glynda, Winter and Cinder calming Perturabo down, he'd have been at the Wolf King's throat faster than you can say, "bad move."
** In jwolfe's timeline, this trait is even more pronounced. In this instance, when Cinder (who remains a villain) launches her attack during the Vytal Festival, Penny gets bisected by Pyrrha thanks to her machinations. As of the last update, he's on the warpath and heaven help anyone who's allied with Cinder.
** Konrad Curze seems to have appointed himself this in regards to Blake. When some prejudiced nobleman attempted to assassinate her (albeit very clumsily and ineptly) when she was on a campaign for Abhuman rights, his first instinct was to go to the planet and violently murder everyone there. Blake mentions that it took her a good hour to calm him down and convince the Dark King not to do that. After that, he assigned one of his Night Lords as a bodyguard for her, who takes his job ''very'' seriously.
* ParentalSubstitute: In one continuity, Professor Polendina is essentially this for Perturabo.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Perturabo is a very decent ruler; he couldn't care less about acquiring power for himself and in fact hates being in a position of authority since it takes away from his time inventing things. He's considered such a good leader that governing body of Atlas has continually foisted more and more authority on him, essentially making Perturabo a king in all but name, much to his annoyance.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler:After Ren and Nora]] are killed during the Siege of Terra, Perturabo goes absolutely ballistic and proceeds to maul the Iron Hands forces besieging the Imperial Palace.
** Sigismund does the same, after cutting down the corrupted Gabriel Santar who was responsible for the spoilered deaths.
** The Night Lords, who mostly stayed loyal to the Imperium, vow to bring unholy hell to anyone who is allied with Horus in revenge for the death of their Primarch.
* ShadowArchetype: Adam Taurus, lacking the FreudianExcuse of his canon counterpart, is basically Perturabo from canon, being a prideful and self-centered PsychopathicManchild who sides with Chaos over a perceived lack of respect from his peers.
* TalkToTheFist: Perturabo does not look kindly on Horus' offer of alliance in either continuity, and makes his refusal plainly known.
* TookALevelInBadass: Velvet Scarlatina was already a badass in canon, but when she was selected to be Perturabo's aide and was tutored by him in Dust usage as well as having the opportunity to see Primarchs in combat/sparring, this was kind of inevitable.
* TookALevelInKindness: Many people in this fic are far nicer than their original selves were.
** Perturabo is basically the polar opposite of his canon self. Here, he's caring, compassionate and even has a sharp sense of humor, a stark contrast to the cold, mercurial Primarch who ordered one in ten of his Astartes to be decimated because he thought they weren't up to snuff.
** Jacques Schnee is not the massive control freak he was in canon and, while still a bit distant, loves his daughters very dearly and is respectful of their wishes. This is due in large part because Perturabo is a close friend of his family and his business isn't beset constantly by White Fang supporters because they're not as influential as in canon (again, thanks to Perturabo taking pains to give faunus equal rights and such).
** Thanks to being with Ruby for some time, Mortarion becomes far more hospitable then he was.
** Konrad Curze is less of a murderous terror than he was in canon, though he's still more than willing to go slaughtering if he feels its warranted. Essentially, he accepts that, while he may be a monster, he's the Emperor's monster and a necessary evil.
* TookALevelInJerkass: Horus is actually ''worse'' than his canon self here. As in 40K, he was led astray by Erebus and the Chaos Gods into rebellion against the Emperor. Just after Istvaan, however, he realizes that he's been duped, but rather than try to make amends or seek redemption, Horus throws a fit and decides that he'll serve no one but himself from now on. The fact that he has just had tens of thousands of Astartes, some of which were his own, massacred for being suspected loyalists doesn't bother him in the slightest, nor does having Konrad Curze killed when he couldn't sway him to his side. This is doubly monstrous, because he was one of the very few Primarchs Curze was actually close to. When Perturabo confronts him about his actions on Istvaan, Horus shows no remorse and regards the whole affair as nothing but "details." After his attempts to recruit Perturabo fail, Horus swears to come back to the Dust Realms and destroy everything Perturabo has built along with murdering all his subjects (Pert doesn't take that well). Then, centuries later, he attacks the Imperium at the head of the greatest Ork horde ever seen. Stylizing himself as the "Warmasta", he takes the place of the Beast and spends the entire war committing one atrocity after another, from slaughtering whole worlds to setting up PeopleFarms to feed his Orks. Essentially, where canon Horus was motivated because he'd been tricked into thinking the Emperor wanted to become a god and rule over a horrible dystopian empire, this Horus is simply throwing a massive temper tantrum because his ego had been hurt.
** If Adam Taurus was a right bastard in canon, he's much worse here. The very first POV we get of him shows that he's almost completely self-centered, believing that everyone around him is jealous of his obvious greatness and relishing the fact that he is in a position of authority as a member of Perturabo's inner circle, which he unabashedly abuses to get back at those he feels wronged him. When he gets sent out as an emissary to the Word Bearers, it takes almost no effort for Erebus and Kor Phaeron to convince him that he's destined to be a messiah for the Faunus and that Perturabo was only holding him back. Unlike in canon, Adam doesn't have any FreudianExcuse; he signed up with Chaos simply because he felt that he wasn't given the power he deserved under Perturabo.
* TrialByCombat: The coming of age ceremony for Schnee Huntresses. Weiss faced off against an Ultramarine Legionary and Winter dueled Perturabo himself.
** Pyrrha participates in a blood match against a World Eater in order to prove her mettle to them. She ends up killing him, much to her horror, though it gains her considerable respect from Angron's sons.
** Velvet also proves herself in a fight, though in her case, it's against a Space Wolf. She quickly shows that rabbits can have fangs worthy of a wolf.
** Penny has one with Russ after he demands to see if she truly does have a soul.
* {{Troll}}: Ozpin, as usual. Tarasha Euten has a brief moment as well.
** And apparently, Vulkan has shades of this as well if "Burdens of Brotherhood" is anything to go by.
* UncertainDoom: Ruby's ultimate fate is a longstanding mystery by the time of the 40th millennium; the last anyone saw of her, she'd boarded a ship bound for Remnant space shortly before the Heresy broke out; that ship entered the Warp and was apparently never seen or heard from again. The implication is that she may yet return to the setting, but that hasn't happened yet.
* UndignifiedDeath: Adam Taurus is on the receiving end of this. He gets held in place by Legionary Kroeger (who is missing an arm and is badly wounded in his midsection) causing the two of them to be buried by hundreds of tons of falling debris. A far cry from the glorious fate Adam had no doubt envisioned for himself.
* UndyingLoyalty: All of Perturabo's friends, Astartes and other followers are completely and utterly dedicated to him. His fiefdom that he builds after joining the Imperium also follows him willingly and totally. Perturabo himself likewise returns the gesture; anyone he calls friend or family, he will go through hell for them.
* WeCanRebuildHim: James Ironwood, the Six Millien Man, after Salem mauls him during her attack on Mountain Glen.
* WellDoneSonGuy: Averted with Perturabo. He couldn't care less what the Emperor thinks of him and indeed doesn't even regard Him as his father, merely his progenitor.
* WouldHurtAChild: Doctor Watts is perfectly content with using children as test subjects for his experiments.
* {{Yandere}}: Salem to Perturabo. She his utterly infatuated with him to the point of obsession, and is willing to commit unspeakably terrible acts in her quest to claim him for herself.
