{{Evil Laugh}}s in Anime & Manga.
----
* Discussed in ''Manga/The100GirlfriendsWhoReallyReallyReallyReallyReallyLoveYou''. In Chapter 30, Rentarou proposes getting [[EyesAlwaysShut Mei]] to laugh as a way to get her to open her eyes. Karane notes that open-eyed laughter is usually done by villains, with an ImagineSpot showing Mei laughing in a similar manner to [[Manga/DeathNote Light Yagami]].
%%* Justice from ''Anime/AfroSamurai''. His laugh is just... ill.
%%** "YEE-HA!"
%%* ''Manga/{{Akira}}'': Tetsuo lets out some memorable maniacal laughs.
* Parodied and lampshaded in ''Anime/AngelBeats'' when Yurippe laughs during the baseball tournament, she's told that she sounds like a villain.
** Again in the DVD Bonus Episode "Stairway to Heaven". This time, she even mimics [[spoiler:[[Anime/CodeGeass Lelouch]]]] and seems glad to be lampshaded.
** Tension Meter 200!!!
%%* While he's not a villain, England from ''Webcomic/HetaliaAxisPowers'' does one when he's about to do a magic ritual to get revenge on Germany.
* ''Manga/AzumangaDaioh'': While Kimura's laugh isn't a ''bona fide'' evil laugh, it sure is scary.
* One thing that didn't get touched upon in any of the anime adaptations is that Guts of ''{{Manga/Berserk}}'' can pull off a ''terrifying'' Evil Laugh, which he did most prominently in his Black Swordsman phase when [[spoiler:he worked in concert with the Beast of Darkness spawned from his horrific experience during the Eclipse]].
* Alan Gabriel from ''Anime/TheBigO'' is prone to this, though it's more of the maniacal giggle type; the fact that it's Creator/CrispinFreeman of all people doing it just makes it creepier.
* Creed from ''Manga/BlackCat'' has a typical villain laugh. He mostly does it when Train is involved, though.
* [[CreepyTwins Hansel and Gretel]] from ''Manga/BlackLagoon'' should be the poster characters for creepy laughs, and they are very, very evil.
** [[FauxAffablyEvil Mr. Chang]] let's loose an impressive one when [[VillainProtagonist Rock]] calls him out for [[CardCarryingVillain what he really is.]]
* ''Manga/{{Bleach}}''.
** [[EnemyWithin Hollow Ichigo]] gives out one in almost every appearance. He gives an especially monstrous sounding laugh when he fights Kouga and Dalk.
** Sexta Espada Grimmjow Jaegerjaquez breaks out in laughter during his several fights with Ichigo Kurosaki.
** Quinto Espada Nnoitra Gilga has given such a laughter during their despicable moments, like when he threw Nelliel out of Las Noches, later when she transformed back into child and rendered helpless by his kicks, and later when he impales Kenpachi Zaraki with one his hidden arms.
** [[MadScientist Captain Mayuri Kurotsuchi]] gives a truly spectacular one whenever he unleashes his Bankai in one of the games. Also, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=us-fwGqrTxE#t=2m33s here]].
** Chapter 458 gives us an ''awesome'' one, so much the two speech balloons that contain it occupy together a good half of the page. Who provides it, you ask? [[spoiler:Ginjo, and this time, [[EvilAllAlong it isn't an act.]]]]
** During his fight with Rukia Kuchiki, Noveno Espada Aaroniero Arruruerie repeatedly uses a vicious laugh, most notably when he plays with Rukia's impaled body.
** Kageroza Inaba in the anime during the Gotei 13 Invading Army arc, particularly at the end of Episode 333 and the beginning of Episode 334.
** A common reaction to a villain seeing Ichigo using his Hollow powers is them performing an evil laugh of excitement. In canon, filler, and movies. Those villains are Dordoni, Grimmjow, Nukui, Muramasa, Kageroza, Shuren and [[spoiler:Kokutou]]. In the case of Dordoni, Grimmjow and Nukui, they are excited to see Ichigo utilizing his full power against them. Muramasa, Shuren and [[spoiler:Kokutou]] are thrilled to make use of Ichigo's power for their own objectives. Kageroza, on the other hand, laughs because he's unimpressed of Ichigo's power (which was declining at the time). The example of Muramasa is also done in especially over the top way, by zooming up on his face twice from two different directions; Muramasa was TheStoic the entire time until this moment happens, which makes his evil laugh especially creepy.
* Torpedo Girl from ''Manga/BoboboboBobobo'' laughs using the word "Torpedo" over and over again. It's ''really'' creepy.
* ''Manga/BusoRenkin'': {{Inverted|Trope}} by Great Warrior Chief Shosei, the BigGood of the series, who indulges in a laugh that would be better suited to a villain while giving his subordinates a comedic off-screen beating.
* ''Literature/ACertainMagicalIndex'':
** For a good guy (he's even an AllLovingHero), Touma Kamijou manages to pull off an [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTCNwL032GY evil laugh.]] This is possibly the first time in the history of fiction that this trope has been '''''[[SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome weaponized.]]''''' The guy running away in terror? He's a freaking RealityWarper.
** Accelerator gets these pretty often. In the anime they sound freakishly high pitched and mixed in with a kind of coughing noise, to further illustrate how unhinged he is. Then there's that... ''sound'' he makes when fighting Touma: [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A-zGnLZY7BI KHKHKHKHKHKHKHKHKUKUKUKHIKAKAKAKAKAKAKA!!!!]] [[spoiler:It's later revealed that his "laugh" is actually him speaking a very basic form of Angel.]]
* Even though Aion from ''Manga/ChronoCrusade'' is often smooth and charismatic, in his more manic moments, he can let out an evil, crazed laugh of epic proportions. [[CardCarryingVillain EVIL!]]
* ''Manga/CityHunter'': Ryo's is a rare heroic and lovable example, used whenever he is about to go on another "girls hunt."
* For the protagonist of the series, [[Characters/CodeGeassLelouchLamperouge Lelouch Lamperouge]] from ''Anime/CodeGeass'' gets an inordinate number of evil laughs, usually when he's just pulled another utter pwnage on his enemies with some unexpected genius tactic. His most maniacal ones were in Episodes 17 and 23 (quoted below) of Season 1, and Episodes 2, 7, and 9 of R2.
--> '''Lelouch''': These hands of mine have been dirty for a long time now, Suzaku. Your coming to face me now doesn't matter at all. Hell, I welcome it even. I mean of course, you and I are friends.''(starts laughing maniacally as the Tokyo Settlement collapses around him)''. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=00EjISW5vsU]]
** His first is a sad laughter, too, after he learns that his best friend Suzaku is working for the EvilEmpire that he hates to the bones.
** The most maniacal ones are notable in that they start out as a low chuckle, then rise in pitch to truly deranged sounding levels.
** Not to be outdone, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g6R-x-vOuYo Emperor Charles]] gets a truly epic one worthy of Creator/NorioWakamoto.
*** Emperor Charles' dub laughter somehow manages to exceed Creator/NorioWakamoto's laughter. Creator/MichaelMcConnohie takes it to more than just 11, he takes it to 13. '''AHAHAHAHAHAHA!''' '''AHAHAHAHAHA!''' Check it out at [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TT4UAoQHW0o#t=8m18s 8:18-8:22]].
*** '''''[[LargeHam YES, YOU'RE WORTHY OF BEING CALLED MY CHILD NOW!]]'''''
** [[Characters/CodeGeassSuzakuKururugi Suzaku Kururugi]] got an evil laugh [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-ZvUDhiUtQ too]].
* Mad Pierrot from the ''Anime/CowboyBebop'' episode "[[Recap/CowboyBebopSession20PierrotLeFou Pierrot le Fou]]" pulls off the truly unhinged version of this trope in a very disturbing fashion.
* The title character of ''Anime/CuteyHoney'' (and its spinoffs) provides a rare heroic example at the start of her InTheNameOfTheMoon speeches.
* [[Characters/DeathNoteLightYagami Light Yagami]] of ''Manga/DeathNote'' indulges in an Evil Laugh when at his most sinister. In fact, in the final story, he struggles to hold in his imminent victorious laughter and ultimately fails in a scene that cranks up the full-blown psycho version of the evil laugh. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C65oaIHsdYM Sanity's gone at this point.]] He cracks one during the infamous potato chip scene.
** Now available in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZWAmoUYRNbg&feature=related 12 different languages]].
** Not to overlook his more appropriately timed laughter, standing over [[spoiler:L's grave]]. Ryuk is dumbstruck.
** [[spoiler:Higuchi]] gets one, too. It's not used as often, but that may just be because he doesn't have anywhere near as much screen time as Light. It's enough to scare ''Shinigami''.
** Ryuk possesses one as well, though it's more of an evil chuckle in most cases.
** [[SugarWiki/FunnyMoments Beyond Birthday was practicing them at one point.]]
* Say what you will about Muraki's VA in the English dub of ''Manga/DescendantsOfDarkness'', he does an especially chilling, falsetto cackle which just adds to a certain mad scientist's general creepiness.
* Lampshaded in an episode of ''Anime/DigimonAdventure02'' (dub only) when the Digimon Emperor burst into a fit of evil laughter after expounding on one of his evil plans, then stopping and muttering "Eh, it's not that funny..."
** Myotismon has a pretty good evil laugh too, particularly in the first season. Used so much in the dub that the other characters comment that they're "sick of that laugh". His laugh is so awesome that the dub's editors rewound a clip of him giving a skyward cackle twice.
%%* In ''Anime/DigimonFusion'', it's particularly hard not to find [=DarkKnightmon=] laughing whenever he talks.
* Mana aka Cure Heart from ''Anime/DokiDokiPrecure'' is another heroic example, rocking one in Episode 7. The circumstances? One of the QuirkyMiniBossSquad members, Bel, had captured the Precure and left them powerless and trapped in another dimension. He does an EvilLaugh to frighten the girls... only for Mana to ''[[ShutUpHannibal counter with her own cackle and tell him that it doesn't matter how long it takes, they were getting out.]]'' Mana has some guts. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vYbSqvpbVlc HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH HAH...]]
* Garlic Jr. in ''Anime/DragonBallZ'' engages in this a fair bit, to the point that it scares his own minions.
** Majin Buu ''defines'' this trope. And don't even get us started on Kid Buu...
** In a [[StylisticSuck poorly made]] [[ShowWithinaShow reenactment]], "Cell" does it [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQr9-7vKB4E for comedic effect.]] The real [[Creator/NorioWakamoto Cell]] is on a completely different level.
** [[Creator/RyuseiNakao Freeza]], of course. Though, he often laughs like a [[NoblewomansLaugh lady]].
** Vegeta has a pretty great one too, which he retains even after his HeelFaceTurn.
** ''Anime/DragonBallYoSonGokuAndHisFriendsReturn'' sees the debut of Aka, whose laughter can cause destruction comparable to Freeza's [[SphereOfDestruction death ball]].
* {{Lampshaded}} by the [[MonsterOfTheWeek Duel Opponent of the Week]] at the end of one episode of ''Anime/DuelMasters'': "I will now laugh at you with my hands on my hips like so. MWAHAHAHHAHAHAH!"
* ''Manga/{{Eyeshield 21}}'s'' Hiruma has his distinctive "ke-ke-ke-ke-ke!" even though he's one of the protagonists. [[MagnificentBastard He's still evil though.]]
* ''Manga/FairyTail'''s Gajeel Redfox has a creepy enough laugh in the manga (Gi-hi-hi-hi!), but the anime voice actor goes above and beyond to make it positively psychotic.
* [[SpellMyNameWithAnS Uighur/Wigul]] in ''Manga/FistOfTheNorthStar'' '''([[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h1Z1o-_DHJE NGYA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA-HA~!]])'''
** Almost every major villain does this.
* Even though he's an AntiVillain, Greed of ''Manga/FullmetalAlchemist'' has a distinctive evil laugh/chuckle, which is generally translated as something like "gwa-ha-ha-ha-ha". On a couple of occasions in which he's LaughingMad, it can be kind of disturbing. The psychopathic Envy provides a straighter EvilLaugh on ocassion. Also, while generally a collected AffablyEvil, early on, when he sees explosions and chaos going on, MadBomber Kimblee starts laughing insanely. Finally, toward the end of the series, Father does a really disturbing EvilLaugh while carrying out his master plan, which is particularly scary because he has VoiceOfTheLegion at the time.
* ''Literature/FullMetalPanic'':
** A teenage terrorist in his enormous HumongousMecha unleashes a hysterical yet pretty normal laughter while devastating a city. However, megaphones in his mecha repeat his laugh all over the city, so it sounds sufficiently evil.
** [[BigBad Gauron]]. It's to be expected of a series' AxCrazy PsychoForHire.
** And the Crazy Cop Lady in ''Anime/FullMetalPanicFumoffu''.
* ''Manga/FushigiYuugi's'' [[TheDragon Tomo]], surprisingly, does this more often than [[BigBad Nakago]], who can't even match up to the former's signature laugh ("Kakakakakakaka!"). [[VillainProtagonist Mayo Sakaki]], for a bratty 16-year-old, has an evil laugh creepier than Nakago's.
* Yuno Gasai from ''Manga/FutureDiary'' erupts into this [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iGgqLYBCDSo big time]] [[spoiler:after she manipulates Yuki into killing Hinata.]] Just another reason why she's the prime example of a {{Yandere}}.
** She got [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o4b-ioZVa88 another one]] before.
* Penchinon from ''Anime/GaoGaiGar'' has his "BREEEEEEEEEEEE!!!"
* Theatre/GoldenBat, one of the first superheroes in existence, ''rocked'' the evil laugh much like Radio/TheShadow did before him.
* The title character of the ''Anime/GregoryHorrorShow'' has a bit more of an evil chuckle.
* ''Franchise/{{Gundam}}'':
** Heero Yuy from ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamWing'' does this in the first episode but drops it after that. Chief Engineer Tubarov does it too, just before his death.
** Speaking of Gundam, Cima Garahau from ''Anime/MobileSuitGundam0083StardustMemory'' does this when she's beginning to realize the true objective of Operation Stardust, [[spoiler:a Colony Drop.]] Ironically, it's either faked or a brief moment of LaughingMad; Cima is not on board with this plan. At all.
** [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam00 Allelujah's]] SuperpoweredEvilSide Hallelujah ''loves'' to indulge in maniacal laughter, be it to taunt his oponents, when he's killing someone in a particularly gruesome manner, after he's killed someone, or whenever he [[ForTheEvulz pleases, often for kicks]].
** [[RedBaron Char Aznable]] does this every once in a while. In the [[Anime/MobileSuitGundam original series]], he does this when setting up the unfortunate death of his own best friend, Garma Zabi, for revenge for his father. In ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamCharsCounterattack'', he does a grand one after losing to [[TheHero Amuro Ray]] in their final duel but successfully dropping a half of Axis onto Earth.
** ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEED'' & ''Anime/MobileSuitGundamSEEDDestiny'': Azrael indulges in an epic one after he gets access to ZAFT's defence plans. So does [[spoiler:Le Creuset]] during his VillainousBreakdown. And as for the [[{{Tykebomb}} Extended]]? With the possible exception of [[CloudCuckooLander Stella]] [[BrokenBird Loussier]], they all do it. Often. [[AxeCrazy Shani and Auel]] are probably the worst offenders (though Clotho gives a great one after he goes LaughingMad).
** ''Anime/TurnAGundam''-- Gym Ghingham: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!! [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HRcjGRDbxbY&t=0m52s GEKKOCHOU DE ARU!!]]
* [[MadScientist Desty Nova]] from ''Manga/BattleAngelAlita'' tends to enjoy this trope.
* Literature/HaruhiSuzumiya does this at least twice in the light novels, both after her HeelFaceTurn. The first is in "Snowy Mountain Syndrome", and the second is in "The Melancholy of Mikuru Asahina".
* In ''Manga/HayateTheCombatButler'', when Ruri asks the resident {{Otaku}} (Nagi, Chiharu and Kayura) what manga should she read first. They start to chuckle sinsterly.
* Katsuhiko Jinnai from ''Anime/ElHazardTheMagnificentWorld'' (particularly the {{OVA}}s). In the original Japanese, he simply sounds like a megalomaniacal EvilOverlord [tm] when he laughs. In the dub, he sounds completely unhinged. It's both hysterically funny and extremely creepy at the same time.
* Several characters from ''Manga/{{Hellsing}}'' indulge in this, but the most famous examples have to be [[AntiHero Alucard]] and [[SinisterMinister Anderson's]] laughs.
* ''Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventure'':
** ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureBattleTendency Battle Tendency]]'': After Joseph manages to escape him, Kars responds by laughing maniacally knowing they'll meet again soon.
** ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStardustCrusaders Stardust Crusaders]]'': DIO does it twice. First, when he figures out that Jotaro was using magnets [[RightForTheWrongReasons to bluff him]] until he realizes ''what'' the bluff [[BatmanGambit actually was]], and later he mocks Jotaro for bringing him to Joseph so that he would be able to absorb his blood.
** ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureDiamondIsUnbreakable Diamond is Unbreakable]]'': Yoshikage Kira, thinking he has finally beaten the heroes with Bite The Dust, laughs on how his 'quiet life' remains undisturbed, that is until several birds [[DeadAllAlong fly right through his body]].
** ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureGoldenWind Golden Wind]]'': Upon seeing Giorno seemingly being rejected by the [[SacredBowAndArrows arrow]], Diavolo laughs as he charges towards him.
** ''[[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureStoneOcean Stone Ocean]]'': Once Enrico Pucci finds out the last method he needs to obtain 'Heaven', he openly laughs and mocks the heroes just to claim they were meant to help him achieve his goal.
* ''Manga/JujutsuKaisen'': After Mahito uses Idle Transfiguration on [[spoiler:Junpei]], Yuji summons Sukuna and begs him to heal [[spoiler:Junpei]]. Even though Sukuna could not actually undo Idle Transfiguration, he pretends that he could by taunting Yuji with his refusal. This leads into a sequence where the two cursed spirits are howling with mocking laughter at Yuji's plight.
* Supervillains ({{Heel}} wrestlers) in ''Manga/{{Kinnikuman}}'' tend to have very distinctive laughs. There are many examples, but some of the best examples are those of DittoFighter Stecase King ("Kekekekekeke!") and JokeCharacter villain Kinkotsuman ("Muhyohyohyooo!")
** Ashuraman's laugh ("Kakakakakaka!") is so distinctive, it's actually used as a lyric in his theme song.
* King Dedede and Escargo[[DubNameChange (o)]]n from ''Anime/KirbyRightBackAtYa'' let out an evil laugh all the time, even when they're just laughing about something innocent.
* ''Franchise/LyricalNanoha'':
** [[MadScientist Jail Scaglietti]] of ''Anime/MagicalGirlLyricalNanohaStrikers'' uses a deliciously full-blown one when he broadcasts the triumphant return of the [[WeaponOfMassDestruction Saint's Cradle]] to the [[TheFederation TSAB]]. Any time we see Jail, he's laughing semi-maniacally.
** Lord Dearche of the Materials lets off some pretty impressive cackling when announcing her presence.
* Friday Monday from ''Anime/{{Madlax}}'' is of the third category, perhaps even the epitome of the third category, as he sometimes struggles to contain his evil laughter in times of victory and will cackle for quite some time.
* Neuro's evil laugh from ''Manga/MajinTanteiNougamiNeuro'', after he gains lots of demonic power from a big mystery. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xO-v_E98u1w]]
* Michio Yuki, the VillainProtagonist of Creator/OsamuTezuka's manga ''Manga/{{MW}}'' does this ''a lot''.
* Hidan from ''Manga/{{Naruto}}'' has a very...[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TtCAK9tCOiw distinct and psychotic]] laugh when he uses his voodoo ability.
** Kabuto indulges in an evil little giggle at times.
** And then there's [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JCRUrgOdfK0 Orochimaru]].
** Itachi's MotiveRant did not actually involve laughing (though it sort of looked like he did), just [[ChewingTheScenery overacting]]. [[spoiler:An event which ''truly'' lives up to that name comes nearly a hundred chapters later, but uttered by ''[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=35adqIEBj9Y Sasuke]]''. Not simply because he was feeling evil, but to mock Kakashi when he tells Sasuke to [[RevengeBeforeReason stop being so obsessed with revenge]].]]
* Evangeline of ''Manga/NegimaMagisterNegiMagi'', being a NobleDemon who repeatedly ''insists'' that she's a BigBad, naturally releases a hearty Evil Laugh whenever she feels like it, such as when she was showing off her true power [[DidYouJustPunchOutCthulhu by obliterating a Demon God with little to no effort]].
* [[TheCaligula King Hamdo]] from ''Anime/NowAndThenHereAndThere'' does this in the preview for the episode "This Bloody Earth."
-->'''King Hamdo''': *laughing maniacally* I have to laugh at them! Look at those losers on all fours! I'm gonna laugh and laugh until I can't laugh anymore. *calmly* What then? Very simple. I'm going to shoot them dead.
* ''Manga/OnePiece'' not only has several characters performing the Evil Laugh, but usually, every character who performs the laugh has a unique and distinct version of it that only that character says. For example, Marshall D. Teach aka Blackbeard's signature laugh has a "Ze" sound to it, and Sir Crocodile's laugh is dry and monotone.
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyWFqtc3u-k Eh! Eh! Eh! Eh! Eh! AH! AH! AH! AH! AH! AH!]]
** [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=inprWey3SMo KIIIIISHI-SHI-SHI-SHI]].
* ''Literature/Overlord2012'':
** In Season 3, Ainz does this in response to Hekkeran's deception with some huge tints of anger.
** [[spoiler:Renner]] unleashes a maniacally triumphant laugh at the end of Season 4. [[spoiler:Her plot against her own kingdom went off ''without a hitch'', and her transformation into an imp means she will get to have Climb to herself for the rest of her (now eternal) life.]] No wonder she couldn't resist doing this while singing her VillainSong.
* ''Manga/PeacemakerKurogane'': Suzu gets one of these, after he goes AxCrazy.
* In ''WebAnimation/PokemonGenerations'', they managed to make a giggle sound ''incredibly'' creepy with Courtney of Team Magma in Episode 7.
* In ''Anime/PrincessTutu'', Drosselmeyer is very fond of his evil laugh. He's an old, insane character, which makes him a pretty good example of the evil wizard type. [[spoiler:Mytho]] also starts letting out evil cackles in the second season after their FaceHeelTurn.
* ''Manga/ThePrinceOfTennis'' has [[TheBerserker Kirihara Akaya]] who bursts into manic cackles every time his uncontrollable [[SuperPoweredEvilSide Devil Mode]] takes over. While [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold not exactly evil]] his other personality certainly is and [[spoiler: is apparently slowly breaking him apart, as Yanagi mentioned.]]
** Also parodied in one of the specials. [[{{Determinator}} Yukimura]] gets the idea that his team has to have more fun while playing. [[ArrogantKungFuGuy Sanada]] and the aforementioned [[BloodKnight Kirihara]] promptly try to please, revealing that those two just '''CAN'T''' ''laugh normally''. Poor Yukimura has no choice but to give up.
* Prince Sharkin in ''Anime/{{Raideen}}'' had an evil laugh that was extraordinary in its legnth, volume, resonance, and the sheer amount of scorn it conveyed. It was so epic that his voice actor got typecast as villains for the next decade.
* ''Manga/Reborn2004'' features ''two'' characters that fit the trope: Belphegor's "Ushishishi!" and Mukuro's "Ku fu fu~" -- the latter character actually managed to score an ImageSong titled "Kufufu no Fu". Both character's image songs feature solos of them doing their laughs.
** Xanxus also had one, although it's less unique and well known compared to the other two previously mentioned. He tends to have it whenever he goes off ranting about how everyone else is trash.
** Even Byakuran got one during his fight against Tsuna. He sounds like a clown.
* ''Anime/RoninWarriors'': EVERY VILLAIN gets his shot at an evil cackle -- usually multiple times in one episode.
* ''Manga/RosarioPlusVampire'': Inner Moka, while not evil, has a couple instances of this in Season 2: in Chapter 1, after dishing Tsukune punishment for touching her and telling him he has a slim chance of seducing her ("Want to know your odds?"), and again at the end of Chapter 6, right before [[CurbStompBattle curb-stomping]] the doppelganger that dared mimic her body and abilities.
* ''Manga/RozenMaiden'': While definitely far more [[ThePrankster mischievous]] than evil, Suiseiseki manages to pull this one off pretty well when playing pranks on the other characters, and once when playing the evil queen from Snow White in a rehearsal for a school play, she does it in an extremely convincing manner.
** And then in ''Träumend'', when Jun becomes her medium, she gets a power boost and laughs like crazy while fighting Barasuishou and saving the others.
* ''Manga/SailorMoon'' has the demon-possessed MadScientist Professor Tomoe. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYeL4Ch0UiY Here's a good hearty laugh for you.]]
** Of all people, ''Tuxedo Mask'' has one in an early episode, for no apparent reason. Maybe he was just happy to survive Jadeite's attempt to kill him.
** Galaxia does this a ''lot'' in ''Sailor Stars''. Methinks she's just pleased as punch that it was so easy to cause a global apocalypse.
%%** No love for Zoicite or Esmarude?
* The Brazilian version of Golden Saint [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSgH0Av4qpI Saga's laugh]] in ''Manga/SaintSeiya'' is known worldwide as awesome.
* ''Manga/{{Saiyuki}} Reload'' has Zakuro the youkai, who is a walking evil-laugh lampshade. Sanzo and Co. make fun of him for it ("Who actually goes 'mwu ha ha ha ha' when they're laughing evilly, seriously!?")
** Played straight with Dougan in the ''Requiem'' OAV. Okiayu Ryoutarou has an excellent utter-loony laugh (see also: Jinnai).
*** One of the creepiest antagonists in the whole series, Yisou, is made all the more so by the fact that he doesn't actually outright doom-cackle; he sort of giggles quietly into his sleeve. It's...yeah.
** Ensui, the big bad from the first OAV (it predates the Gensoumaden anime), has a FABULOUS evil laugh. Who knew Miki Shinichirou could pull that kind of crazy?
* Berg Katse in ''Anime/ScienceNinjaTeamGatchaman'' is known for this, usually when he thinks he has the team or the world at his mercy.
* ''Manga/SgtFrog'':
** Kururu from tends to evilly laugh "ku-ku-ku!" when [[HilarityEnsues something unfortunate but amusing happens]] to another character, especially if he was the one responsible.
** Keroro himself likes to think he has one, but it's just "devious" ([=KEEEEro=]-kero-kero-kero).
* Tadase Hotori's laugh in ''Manga/ShugoChara'' (while he is in his "king" persona) may either be this or a male NoblewomansLaugh depending on how you look at it.
* There are quite a few notable ones in ''Literature/{{Slayers}}'', the best one being either Rezo's or Phibrizzo's.
* From ''Anime/SonicTheHedgehogTheMovie'', Robotnik lays out a rather loud and solid one. [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=MJvlmiJS9zc#t=1733s Hear for yourself]]. Mind the possible ads.
* Although he isn't truly evil, self-proclaimed MadScientist Hououin Kyouma of the ''VisualNovel/SteinsGate'' anime likes to do this before setting off one of his crazy plans to subvert the world order.
* ''Anime/SuperAtragon'': [[BigBad Avatar]] has a distinctive raspy cackle[[note]] she is played by Creator/TiffanyGrant[[/note]].
* [[BigBad Golg Bodolza]] lets out a hearty "Muahahahahahahaha!" as he watches his fleet [[spoiler:glass the Earth]] in ''Anime/SuperDimensionFortressMacross''.
* Ryoko from ''Anime/TenchiMuyo'' delivers an impressive one during her duel with Tenchi in the first episode, particularly in the dubbed version.
* ''Anime/TengenToppaGurrenLagann's'' Lordgenome does this during his fight with Simon, while he's tearing the Lagann apart ''with his bare hands''.
* ''Manga/TokyoGhoul'':
** Yamori is clearly having the time of his life whilst torturing Ken Kaneki, bursting with maniacal laughter as he breaks the boy further.
** After being captured and experimented on by Aogiri Tree, the formerly good-hearted investigator Seidou Takizawa becomes a chortling maniac, letting out gleeful laughter whenever being launched into battle.
** The Clowns are masters of this. Roma's laughter ranges from girlish giggles to shrill cackles. During his fight with Renji, Uta, for the first time in the series, lets out a wild batch of mocking laughter at his friend.
* In ''Anime/TransformersScrambleCity'', Ratbat lets off a sinister, high-pitched cackle when he sneaks into the Autobot's underground lair and discovers their plans to build Scramble City.
* Mega and Giga in ''Anime/TransformersSuperGodMasterforce'' occasionally indulge in evil laughter. Mega's evil laugh doubles as a NoblewomansLaugh.
* Ran, ''Manga/UruseiYatsura'''s resident {{Yandere}}, often does this when planning revenge on Lum.
* Niwe, TheCaligula from ''Anime/{{Utawarerumono}}'', is known by fans for his intensely annoying "GYAH KA KA KA KA KAT" laugh. He would occasionally use it more than once per episode. Apparently, he was known for it by characters too, since just when Hakuoro thought they were rid of Niwe, his laugh returns with a vengeance in his dreams.
* The ''Manga/VampirePrincessMiyu'' {{OAV}}. Miyu is sometimes heard laughing in the end of each OAV and it's a soft, child-like, almost gentle laugh. However, due to the circumstances and Miyu's own nature, such giggles potentially can be ''more'' horrifying than a typical Evil Laugh.
* Most villains in ''Anime/YuGiOh'' tend to have an evil laugh, but [[Characters/YuGiOhYamiBakura Yami Bakura's]] stands out the most. He starts [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uhl98Lu7WU4 constantly laughing]] at the start of the Battle City Finals, and those laughs get more nightmarish in the Millennium World Arc. Bonus points for being voiced by Creator/RicaMatsumoto.
** Yami Bakura's laugh is also very epic in [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QnfQzfhMruY&feature=related English, German, and Spanish.]]
** Another prominant example is Yami Marik.
** An [[AntiHero anti-heroic]] example is [[Characters/YuGiOhSetoKaiba Seto Kaiba]]. After his victory against [[FillerVillain Siegfried]], he starts laughing like a villain. It's Kaiba after all.
** Jaeger of ''Anime/YuGiOh5Ds'' has a subdued yet equally sinister laugh of "Hi hi hi!". The dub version, Lazar, does not.
** Dr. Faker has a fair bit in ZEXAL [[spoiler:though it's probably fake, ironically]], and Tron combines this with CreepyChild magnificently. But not even the incredibly sinister chuckles of [[BigBad Don Thousand]] can compete with LaughingMad Vector, for whom it's normal to have half of his dialogue as Evil Laughter. It's usually not a good sign.
** Professor [[NamesToRunAwayFromReallyFast Cobra]] in ''Anime/YuGiOhGX'', as well as the appropriately named Brron, Mad King of Dark World.
** Saiou/The Light, has the creepy high pitched kind that illustrates his insanity excellently.
** In ''Anime/YuGiOhCapsuleMonsters'', Mystical Sands laughs constantly as the heroes attempt to defeat her worm minions.
** President Goha, or rather [[spoiler:the President Drone]] has his "Heh-heh-heh" in ''Anime/YuGiOhSEVENS''. Notably it makes up a large portion of his dialogue due to [[spoiler:it being a mode of the Drone where this will be the only thing the wearer is capable of saying]].
* Yusuke has some fun with this one in ''Manga/YuYuHakusho''. [[spoiler:After dying a second time and reincarnating as a half-demon, he does this along with a little speech to toy with the elite squad of soldiers dispatched to destroy his corpse and prevent said reincarnation. They fall for it, if only because it's what they expected to happen anyway, and he has a good ''normal'' laugh at their expense immediately afterward.]]
** Elder Toguro also has a creepier version of this trope played straight.
** Hiei lets out a good one while Botan risks her life trying to keep Kayko from turning into a demon. It backfires as it helps to piss Yusuke off.
