4	Mahershala Ali (born Mahershalalhashbaz Gilmore on February 16, 1974 in Hayward, California) is an American actor.

6	Known for his many roles in films and television, he fell into greater public consciousness as Remy Danton on Creator/{{Netflix}}'s ''Series/{{House of Cards\|US}}'', which he followed up with his role as Boggs in ''Film/TheHungerGamesMockingjayPart1'' and ''[[Film/TheHungerGamesMockingjayPart2 Part 2]]'', the penultimate and final chapters in the ''Film/TheHungerGames'' film franchise.

8	In 2016, Ali appeared as Cornell 'Cottonmouth' Stokes on Netflix's ''Series/{{Luke Cage\|2016}}'', one of the many properties that make up the Franchise/MarvelCinematicUniverse, and ''Film/{{Moonlight\|2016}}'' as Juan, the latter of which earned him an UsefulNotes/AcademyAward in the Best Supporting Actor category. For that role, Ali became the first Muslim actor to get an Oscar. His role as Don Shirley in ''Film/GreenBook'' earned him another Oscar two years later in the same category. He also holds the distinction of both those films winning Best Picture, and regarding the second he was also in the same year's Best Animated Feature winner, ''WesternAnimation/SpiderManIntoTheSpiderVerse''.
