Koei Tecmo Holdings Co., Ltd. 『株式会社コーエーテクモホールディングス』 Tecmo Koei Holdings (internationally, 2009-2014) is a Japanese entertainment holding company created in 2009 from the merger of gaming companies Koei and Creator/Tecmo. The company owns the video game development and publishing company Koei Tecmo Games Co., Ltd., which succeeded the gaming operations of both Koei and Tecmo.

Koei Tecmo Games inherited the gaming development studios of both Koei and Tecmo, and its development studios are currently organized along several studios (sometimes also characterized as divisions or brands), which include the following:

* Omega Force: Founded in 1996 as Koei's fourth Business Division, develops the VideoGame/DynastyWarriors games.
* Kou Shibusawa: Named after the PenName of Koei's founder Yoichi Erikawa, the division was created in 2016 to develop Koei's historical strategy games like VideoGame/Koei. It also did much work on VideoGame/FireEmblemThreeHouses.
* Ruby Party: Develops dating sims.
* Gust: The successor to the Creator/GustCorporation development studio, Gust develops the VideoGame/AtelierSeries and VideoGame/ExaPico games. Gust was acquired by Koei Tecmo in 2011 and absorbed in 2014.
* Team Ninja: Develops VideoGame/DeadOrAlive and VideoGame/Nioh games primarily. Before the merger, it was formerly under Creator/Tecmo's umbrella. Also famed for creating the VideoGame/NinjaGaiden games. Since 2013, it has comprised two teams, Ichigaya Development Group 1 and Ichigaya Development Group 2.

Koei Co., Ltd. 『株式会社コーエー』 is best known for its historically-based (and loosely-based) video games, especially those set in feudal China or Japan. It was founded by the CreatorCouple Yoichi and Keiko Erikawa in 1978. Its name seems to derive from the term 光栄 (kōei, "honor").

Like many Japanese game developers established before TheEighties, Koei started as a completely unrelated business--in this case, a dyestuff and chemicals trader that is already bankrupt at the time the Erikawa couple took over. They immediately expanded the business to things like record rental, and started producing video games in 1980. They made their name in Japan with TurnBasedStrategy games such as VideoGame/NobunagasAmbition, but outside Japan their most known and successful series is the Warriors (Musou) franchise of HackAndSlash games (which includes VideoGame/DynastyWarriors, VideoGame/SamuraiWarriors, the crossover VideoGame/WarriorsOrochi, and all the licensed crossovers).

The company also has distributed games from Creator/NipponIchi's catalog in North America and Europe.

Music/YokoKanno worked for Koei in the late 80s and early 90s, composing scores for many of their games.
