3 | William Nigel Ernle Bruce (4 February 1895 – 8 October 1953) was a British character actor of stage and screen, born in Mexico. He tended to play {{Upper Class Twit}}s and other variations on [[IAmVeryBritish extremely British]] buffoons. He is probably best remembered for his portrayal of Dr. Watson in a series of films and in the radio series ''Radio/TheNewAdventuresOfSherlockHolmes'' (opposite Creator/BasilRathbone as Holmes), and for his roles in the Creator/AlfredHitchcock films ''Film/{{Rebecca|1940}}'' and ''Film/{{Suspicion}}''. |
