2Fire Power is a monthly comic book series published by Creator/ImageComics, which began in July, 2020. It is written by Creator/RobertKirkman of ComicBook/TheWalkingDead fame, with art by Chris Samnee, best known for his run on ComicBook/Daredevil.

415 years ago, Owen Johnson travelled to a secret Shaolin temple to learn about his birth parents. There, he learned of the Fire Power, the manipulation of heat practised by the temple's martial artists. Johnson learned to wield it himself, finding love, friendship and family there, along with the truth about his birth parents. He eventually became the first practitioner of Fire Power in decades to create a real fireball.

6In the present day, Owen is an unassuming family man, content with his wife and two kids. What happened to Owen and why he left the temple isn't known, but his past begins catching up with him...
7
8Fire Power was launched in two forms: A prelude OGN that features Owen's arrival at the Shaolin temple, and a free first issueOriginally meant to release on Free Comic Book Day 2020, before that event was cancelled due to COVID-19 that depicts what he's up to now. The ongoing series started in August of 2020, with issue 1 being a reprint of the free first issue with a new cover and back matter, while issue 2 continues the story proper.

10Not to be confused with Manga/FireForce

12!!Tropes applying to Fire Power:
13* BoyfriendBlockingDad: Averted. Owen's daughter, Haley, thinks he's being one when he asks about a boy she was talking to who's possibly interested in her, and that it'd be sexist if he didn't act this way for her brother, Doug, if he talked to girls. He says that's not the case and he trusts her to be her own person.
14* CoolOldGuy: Wei Lun is both a kind and patient mentor and also a grumpy old man. He's also not shy about his appreciation for technology and produced goods, in contrast to what you'd expect.
15* DroppedABridgeOnHim: The first issue reveals that died at some point after the end of the prelude.
16* Fireballs: Owen's claim to fame is being the first person since the founder, Master Shaw to be able to throw one.
17* FireForgedFriends: Owen and Ma Guang. Guang starts out as someone who bullies Owen for being an outsider, but after an act of kiddness of Owen, begins being nicer to him. After they fight off the Scorched Earth Clan, they become better friends, and by the time of the present day stories, despite their estrangement after Owen left the temple, they're still friends.
18* FlatEarthAtheist: To a degree with Ling Zan. She initially doesn't believe that it's possible to create a fireball, that the statue of Master Shaw was once a human or that there's a dragon locked in the temple. This is in a setting where they can cook things with their bare hands.
19* HappilyAdopted: Owen makes it perfectly clear that looking for his birth parents has nothing to do with not being happy with his adopted family. When we meet his adopted parents in issue 1, they are entirely wholesome and kind.
20* RefusalOfTheCall: When Guang tracks Owen down in the present to ask him to return to the temple after , he refuses, content with his current life.
21* SecretKeeper: Owen's wife is aware of his history and prior life and helps keep it a secret from his loves ones, including helping him train their kids in the event that they are ever attacked, under the guise of self-defense.
22* TimeSkip: Fifteen years between the prelude with Owen at the temple and him in the present in peaceful suburbia.
