The gnomes of Gnomeregan aided the Alliance in the Second War but were absent during the Third War due to an invasion by the barbaric caveman-like troggs. The gnomes attempted to nuke Gnomeregan to kill the troggs but the plans went awry due to the treachery of Mekgineer Sicco Thermaplugg. High Tinker Gelbin Mekkatorque and his people were sheltered within Ironforge with their dwarven allies but following ''Cataclysm'', many have left to retake Gnomeregan from Thermaplugg and his leper gnomes.\
\
Much like their allies, the dwarves, it was revealed in Wrath of the Lich King that gnomes were originally robots made by the Titans to help the Keepers, but that they had mutated into their current state by the Old Gods.

[[folder:General Tropes]]
* AnimalMecha: Their signature mount is a mechanical ostrich-like bird.
* ApeShallNeverKillApe: Until Sicco Thermpalugg's betrayal the Gnomes never had any history of internal conflicts or violence, not because of any rule but because they instinctively acknowledge that in a world with many hostile creatures and taller races they have to rely on each other. As such the idea that one of them could be a traitor didn't cross their mind until Thermaplugg's radiation bomb killed many of them.
* AwesomeButImpractical : Despite their genius many of the Gnomes' devices tend to be this as their effect last only for a few seconds or wore off if moving or hit by enemy's attacks.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: Of all the Alliance species the Gnomes are both the smallest and the most eccentric ones, making it easy to underestimate them, but when they are pushed too far they prove to be surprisingly dangerous and tenacious foes thanks to their agility, ingenuity, intelligence and unpredictability. The best example of it may their defense of Gnomeregan during the Second War where they managed to kill many orcs with booby traps and created an impregnable gate that successfully repelled the Old Horde's assaults. Most of the advanced technological devices and most powerful weapons of the Alliance are of Gnomish origin.
* TheBusCameBack: They were introduced in ''Warcraft II'', but were inexplicably absent during ''Warcraft III'' when the Scourge attacked the Alliance. ''World of Warcraft'' brought them back and revealed the reason of their absence; they were busy trying to fight off the Troggs from Gnomeregan, and as such unable to send help to Lordaeron.
* CloudCuckooLander: Not ''quite'' on the same level than the Goblins, but they still are perceived as eccentric by the other races, and a lot of them have rather strange quirks.
* CosmeticAward: The Heritage transmogrification armor is unlockable for any gnome character that's been levelled up to 50 through normal grinding (110 prior to the ''Shadowlands'' level squish), has gotten exalted with the Gnomeregan faction and has completed a quest series.
* CuteMonsterGirl: "Monster" might be a stretch since Gnomes at least all look human enough, but males tend to be {{Gonk}}s with weird facial hairs, while females look like [[invoked]][[{{Moe}} adorable little girls]] (when they don't have a wrinkled face, at least).
* DoingItForTheArt:[[invoked]] In contrast to the goblins who create and use technology mainly as a tool to make money, gnomes invent and produce new technologies for the advancement of science and technology because they view science and technology as a way of life. This mindset explains why gnomes are so dedicated to both innovate and perfect their inventions and spend much time ensuring the efficiency and security of their devices.
* EscapeArtist: They have a racial trait named after the trope, which grants them the ability to instantly free themselves from any effect immobilizing or imprisoning them.
* FourFingeredHand: Gnomes have four fingers on each hand.
* GadgeteerGenius: It's their [[PlanetOfHats hat]]. They get a bonus when taking the engineering profession to reflect this.
* GovernmentInExile: Thanks to Thermaplugg's schemes and the Troggs invading it, Gnomes have been forced to leave Gnomeregan and retreat in Ironforge, while still trying to recover their city. Starting with ''Cataclysm'', however, they start to get some success and recover at least part of it. Not enough to make it a capital city again, but enough to provide a suitable starting experience for gnome players, who used to start in the same areas as Ironforge dwarves and had to do the same quests in their early level grinding.
* {{Foil}}: To the Goblins who are their rivals and Horde counterparts. Both races are physically short and eccentric but extremely intelligent and technologically advanced races with an eccentric attitude that give a significant technological boost to their respective factions. However while Goblins' intelligence come from exposition to kajimite Gnomes are naturally intelligent as a result of them being descended from Mechagnomes. Also while the Goblins are extremely greedy, resent hierarchy and mainly use technology as a way to get rich Gnomes view technology as a way of life, respect hierarchy and as such are very organized, and are happy to use their inventions to help the other races of the Alliance without getting huge profits from it. Their engineering methods and views are also very different as Gnomes are generally very careful and orderly when they work on a new project, often spending more time working on the calculations and schematics than on the product itself which can make their engineering rather slow and costly but also more reliable and secured, whereas Goblins are often more ambitious and willing to take risks with their projects but tend to neglect security and maintenance causing their devices to be often dangerous to use and to explode. Also interestingly gnomish airships are heavier-than-air machines whereas Goblins mostly produce zeppelins and other lighter-than-air gunships.
* MadScientist: Not as insane or explosion-obsessed as Goblins, but some Gnome characters are still known to have some of their inventions backfire. For example, one of them once created mechanical birds which [[AIIsACrapshoot he made sentient, resulting in them turning against him]] [[GreenEyedMonster out of jealousy when he started working on a new, more advanced pet project]].
* MagicIsMental: Puns aside, they get a small boost to their intellect, resistance to Arcane magic, and mana pool.
* MiniMecha: Befitting their technological genius and the fact that they are often fighting foes much taller and bigger than them the Gnomes, like their Goblins counterparts, often use PowerMecha called Pounders or Spider tanks in order to fight. They even created [[AntiMagic robots called Arcane Nullifiers in order to fight magical users.]]
* OutOfFocus: Of all the playable races in the game, the Gnomes are consistently out of focus of the narrative and tend to only appear in moments of comedic quests. They still have yet to reclaim their home and very few, if any, Gnomes have been a major player in any of the expansions. Gnomes haven’t had an appearance in any of the CGI advertisements of the game.
** They are finally going to get ADayInTheLimelight with the Mechagon zone in the 8.2 patch
* PluckyComicRelief: To the Alliance races; their quirks and eccentricity tend to be played for laugh, and, as mentioned above, they get very little focus in the main story, usually being relegated to comedic questlines. Their cartoonish design also makes it hard to take them seriously, especially males. That said, it is worth noting most of the Alliance's advanced technological weapons are also of Gnomish make, as any unlucky Horde on the receiving end of a Gyrocopter and/or Flying Machine squadron alongside an [[AirborneAircraftCarrier Alliance Gunship]] can attest.
* ProudScholarRace: Gnomes are not only extremely intelligent but their entire culture is centered around the progress of science and technology, viewing technology as a way of life rather than just means of life.
* QualityOverQuantity: Gnomes are less numerous than their goblins rivals and they produce less weapons and technological devices than them but theirs are generally more efficient and safer due to them spending much more time planning and ensuring the good quality and security of their inventions.
* RidiculouslyHumanRobots: A strange case of the trope. As a quest chain in ''Wrath'' revealed, gnomes can actually be reverted back into mechagnomes (and one quest allows you to convert mechagnomes back into gnomes). This meant that all gnomes are "technically" mechagnomes under their flesh. The quest chain implies that while some gnomes do not quite like their time as mechagnomes, other gnomes felt that they had become "complete" as mechagnomes.
* TheRival: With Goblins. The two of them are practically always at each other's throats or in competition to prove who's the best at creating machines.
* SeriousBusiness: The Gnomes may be very eccentric and quirky but when it they conceive and build their technological projects they do not neglect any detail and make as much planning and calculation as possible to make sure that there is no flaw in their project, and if it fails they will spend lots of time to find the reasons of its failure and correct them. As a result their inventions are generally of better quality and much safer than Goblins' which often explode. Fittingly the only known Gnome to averts this is none other than Sicco Thermpalugg.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: They are, along with Goblins, both the smallest and most technologically advanced playable race.
* TheSmartGuy: Gnomes have a crucial role in the Alliance as the great majority of the Alliance's advanced technology such as mecha-armors, submarines, airships or the Deeprun Tram connecting Stormwind to Ironforge have been imagined and engineered by them.
* TrueCompanions: With the dwarves of Ironforge who have always been their closest allies and friends to the point that the two races consider themselves to be cousins (which isn't far-fechted as the two races descend from titan-forged). This close bond dates from their first meetings as the dwarves helped the gnomes to build Gnomeregan by teaching them about stoneworking and construction while the gnomes helped the dwarves with their engineering and science. As such it isn't surprising that the dwarves offered refuge the gnomes into Ironforge after the loss of Gnomeregan and are their main support into retaking their capital.

The current High Tinker of the Gnomes, Geblin is a renowned inventor and is praised for his great intellect. However, during a terrible Trogg invasion, Geblin was forced to abandon the gnomes home city of Gnomergan after following the advice of his [[TreacherousAdvisor second-in-command]], Mekgineer Thermaplug, and unleashing a radiation bomb to stop the troggs. The fallout from the bomb made Gnomeregan uninhabitable, and poisoned many of Mekkatorque's own subjects, turning them into hideous and insane Lepper Gnomes. To make matters worse, Thermaplugg took control of the city for himself and declared himself the new king.\
\
Residing in Ironforge, Mekkatorque spent years planning to retake Gnomergan from Thermaplugg. These plans came to fruition prior to the ''Cataclysm'', as he and a vast of gnomes army marched upon the city. While they were successful in recapturing the surface areas, they were unable to succeed in taking the deeper levels of the city. While still not fully content with their situation, Mekkatorque is happy with their progress, and one day hopes to have their home back fully in his grasp.
----
* ArchEnemy: His TreacherousAdvisor Thermaplugg who tricked him into irradiating his home and thwarted his attempt to retake it by using another radiation bomb.
* ArmorPiercingResponse: His answer to one of Thermaplugg's questions gives him pause.
-->'''Sicco:''' What? Lies! If my work was so shoddy, then why let me take credit for the guns?\
'''Gelbin:''' Because you were my friend.
* BackForTheDead: Downplayed, because [[spoiler:he doesn't die as much as get put into a coma]], but after more than a decade of near absence from any central plot, he's given a much bigger role in the Battle for Dazal'Alor, where the Horde fights him as a boss.
* BadassBookworm: He's more of a technological bent than a physical one, but that doesn't prevent him from contributing.
* CallingYourAttacks: Against the Gnome starting questline boss.
* CarryABigStick: Carries a pretty large one-handed mace for one of his size.
* CoolOldGuy: If his white hair is anything to judge by, he's definitely up in the years, but also well-respected and has the best intentions for his people.
* CruelMercy: In "Cut Short" after his battle with Thermaplugg ends with Thermaplugg non-fatally cut in half, Gelbin leaves him to his fate with a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech.
* DontYouDarePityMe: Like the rest of gnome kind, finds being pitied by the dwarves to be unbearable, and thus resolves to retake Gnomeregan.
* DoomedHometown: Gnomeregan, alas, he knew it well.
* {{Expy}}: After the Battle for Dazar'alor, a "Spark Reactor" was implanted into his chest to keep his heart beating, making him an ComicBook/IronMan expy.
* GadgeteerGenius: With the way gnomes value engineering genius, there's a good reason why Mekkatorque is the High Tinker.
* GogglesDoNothing: That's a very nifty piece of goggles, whatever they're actually used for.
* HeroAntagonist: Much like most bosses in Battle for Dazar'alor, his only crime is being on the opposing faction (although he's smug and racist during the raid, so at least he's not very sympathetic).
* HorribleJudgeOfCharacter: Despite Sicco's increasingly erratic behavior and and botched works as well as the risks of using a radiation bomb to fight the Troggs Gelbin still trusted him with his life and allowed him to use his bomb, only realizing his great mistake when the bomb reinforced the Troggs instead of killing them and killed the majority of Gnomeregan's population. This is partially justified by Gelbin's friendship and loyalty to Sicco and the fact that the Gnomes had no history of internal violence before and didn't imagine the possibility of one of them being a traitor until it was too late.
* ImprovisedWeapon: In his short story he shows that he can be a very dangerous foe using the environment and even mundane tools as weapons to fight and kill foes outnumbering and being far stronger than him. When confronted by Troggs and Thermaplugg he uses a wire,a wrench, a vial of oil which he used to cause a fire with the sparks caused by the wrench, a catch and springs to kill two Troggs and mortally wound a third one, and slice Thermaplugg and his mecha-suit in two in short succession.
* InformedAbility: One of the Gnomes in Rustbolt claims that Mekkatorque “plays a mean harmonica”.
* ItsAllMyFault: Blames himself for the tragedy that happened to his people and the loss of Gnomeregan due to his trust in Sicco Thermaplugg that caused him to allow Thermaplugg to use his radiation bomb that irradiated Gnomeregan.
* LargeAndInCharge: He’s about a head taller than the average gnome, this is admittedly the norm for racial leaders that they’re larger than average for their race.
* LuckilyMyShieldWillProtectMe: Wields a slowly spinning shield.
* MiniMecha: Gets his own awesome mech in ''Legion'' and puts it to great use at the Broken Shore.
* MyGreatestFailure: Trusting Thermaplugg during the trogg invasion.
* OffhandBackhand: At the Broken Shore, a felguard charges him from the side while he's transmitting his position to a gunship. Without seemingly even looking at the demon, his mecha's left arm changes into a cannon and shoots it in the face. Particularly badass due to the FreezeFrameBonus of it being a Fel Lord, Not just one of the rank-and-file.
* PlotArmor: Played with. During his Battle for Dazar'alor encounter, he'll deploy two linked shield generators that give him a buff literally called [[https://www.wowhead.com/spell=289248/p-l-o-t-armor P.L.O.T Armor]] when he reaches 40% health.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: Gives a speech regarding this to Thermaplugg, saying that this is what sets them apart from the goblins, and is why the other races are helping them retake Gnomeregan.
* PoliticallyIncorrectVillain: During his raid encounter in Battle for Dazar'alor, he throws racist remarks against Horde players left and right.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Against Thermaplugg.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives one to Thermaplugg at the end of their confrontation in "Cut Short," after explaining where he had gone wrong in the past.
* TookALevelInBadass: The attempted retaking of Gnomeregan had him stepping up to the plate and shaping up to be a good leader after all. During ''Legion'' and ''Battle for Azeroth'', he personally enters the fray in a massive mechasuit during the Battle for the Broken Shore and the Siege of Lordaeron, managing to hold his own quite well alongside heavyweights such as Greymane, Varian, and Alleria.
* UnexpectedCharacter: Be honest, who honestly expected Mekkatorque of all people [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LgPVEWIaK8M to show up in the Siege of Orgrimmar?]]
** And now again in ''Battle for Azeroth''. Not only does he show up in a raid, ''he's a raid boss''.
* UniversallyBelovedLeader: Gelbin's efforts and beliefs do not go unnoticed by his people. When asking the mechagnomes what they want in a leader, the biological gnomes have nothing but praise and support for their High Tinker.
* UnwittingPawn: And [[MeaningfulName Sicco]] [[DevilInPlainSight Thermaplugg]] wasn't even ''convincing''! Elaborated as being a partial case of GoodCannotComprehendEvil in his leader short story - Unlike most of Azeroth's denizens, the Gnomes had practically no history of fighting among themselves, so the possibility of a traitor in their own ranks simply didn't cross his mind until it was too late...

\

An old friend to Gelbin Mekkatorque, Sicco Thermaplugg was once a [[{{Pride}} proud]] and [[AmbitionIsEvil ambitious]] gnomish engineer [[WellIntentionedExtremist who sought to make Gnomeregan a great and powerful nation]]. His greedy desire for power combined with a lust for {{revenge}} against those he felt had cheated him from his rightful place in gnomish society turned him into the greatest traitor of Gnomeregan, and the city became irradiated by his fault.
----
* AlwaysSecondBest: To Mekkatorque whose work was always more appreciated and respected than his, who always got a higher position than him and was chosen by the Gnome Council as High Tinker instead of him much to his resentment.
* AmbitionIsEvil: He ambitioned to become High Tinker of the Gnomes and then to proclaim himself King of the Gnomes in order to create a great kingdom out of Gnomeregan that would take half of Dun Morogh even if it meant chasing the dwarves installed nearby. After the other gnomes chose his friend Gelbin Mekkatorque instead he became mad and sought to usurp him by creating a radiation bomb in order to kill many of his own kind and discredit Mekkatorque.
* AxCrazy: His failure to become High Tinker and force his views upon other gnomes has caused him to go insane to the point that he was willing to betray his own kin and causes the death of a great portion of them just to try discrediting Mekkatorque and take his place. This failure of this new plan and the radiations he suffered only caused him to go deeper into madness.
* BaldOfEvil: His head is completely bald though it's unknown if it is a result of the radiation or if he was already bald before.
* TheBeastmaster: Has somehow managed to tame the Troggs and make himself their leader. It's even rumored that he was in control of the Troggs from the start and masterminded their invasion in the first place, though it's never verified if it's true or not.
* BrilliantButLazy: Gelbin admits that Thermaplugg was very creative and enthusiastic as a tinker, even for a gnome, having brilliant ideas several times. However, unlike Mekkatorque and most other gnomes, he also refuses to bother himself with calculations and tests to verify the viability and security of his inventions, forcing Mekkatorque to do it in his stead, and causing his radiation bomb to backfire on him as its effects were far stronger and less controllable that he had imagined.
* CruelMercy: In "Cut Short" after his battle with Mekkatorque ends with Thermaplugg non-fatally cut in half, Gelbin leaves him to his fate with a TheReasonYouSuckSpeech.
* DevilInPlainSight: Most species other than the Gnomes would have been wary of Thermaplugg and his visible ambitions but since the Gnomes didn't had any history of internal fights or betrayal before him they didn't suspect that he would betray them until his actions caused the death of most of Gnomeregan's population and the loss of the city.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Sicco Thermaplugg is noted to have been one of the most creative and enthusiastic of the Gnomes tinkers, often coming with great or even genius ideas. However for all his scientific and technological knowledge he lacks patience and caution and neglects calculations and details that causes him to rush his tinker works and plans which caused Mekkatorque to spend a lot of time correcting his mistakes. During the fall of Gnomeregan he used a radioactive bomb in order to kill a portion of the Gnomes and discredit Mekkatorque but it turned out that the radioactivity was far more dangerous and lethal that he expected causing the death of 90% of Gnomeragan's population and he didn't even think of creating something to protect himself from the radiation nor of putting himself at a safe distance from it causing him to be irradiated too.
* EvilCannotComprehendGood: He cannot understand why the other gnomes didn't agree with his plan of taking over half of Dun Morogh, which would have meant chasing the dwarves who have always been the Gnomes' closest allies and friends, and so refused to make him High Tinker and why they would continue to follow and trust Gelbin Mekkatorque despite the loss of Gnomeregan and death of so many gnomes here. The concept of being loyal to and accepting the help of the dwarves and other races of the Alliance instead of dominating them is also utterly alien to him.
* EvilFormerFriend: He is one to Mekkatorque who has known for a very long time, having helped Sicco to graduate and to get the various positions he had in his life. It was this friendship that caused Gelbin to continue giving positions to Sicco despite his more and more defective work and prevented him from seeing his true colors until it was too late.
* HalfTheManHeUsedToBe: He gets cut in half by Mekketorque in "Cut Short".
* HandicappedBadass: Gets [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe cut in half]] and loses his legs in "Cut Short". He still shows up in Gnomeregan later.
* HoistByTheirOwnPetard: Was caught by the very radiations he created and used to betray his own people and try to discredit Mekkatorque with. Also in "Cut Short" his own trap backfires spectacularly, [[spoiler:and ends up [[HalfTheManHeUsedToBe getting him cut in half]].]]
* IgnoredEpiphany: In "Cut Short" he traps and confronts Mekkatorque with the intention to kill him. After a MotiveRant Gelbin calmly explains to him that he has always been grateful to him for his work but that despite his creative genius his lack of caution and rush of his work forced to have to correct Thermaplugg's work as it would have backfired hard without it. When a disbelieving Thermaplugg calls him a liar and asks him why he did let him take credit for the cannons to the dwarves then Gelbin simply replies that it was because he was his friend. The response actually causes Thermaplugg's face to soften and to pauses for a few moments with Mekkatorque recognising in his face the gnome that he befriended a long time ago. The moment is short-lived as Sicco's insanity quickly catch-up with him.
* ItsAllAboutMe: Thinks that he was cheated him from his rightful place in gnomish society by others.
%%* MeaningfulName: ''Sicco'' Thermaplugg.
* MiniMecha: Rides one in combat in Gnomeregan.
* NeverMyFault: He refuses to acknowledge his faults and the flaws in his plans, blaming Mekkatorque and the rest of the gnomes for his failures, and claiming that no one could have expected his radiation bomb to backfire on him and kill so many gnomes.
* {{Pride}}: One of his fatal flaws, Thermpaplugg is so arrogant and certain of his genius that he utterly fail to see the potential flaws and miscalculations in his inventions and plans and caused him to go insane when the Gnomes chose Mekkatorque as High Tinker instead of him.
* SmugSnake: Sicco Thermaplugg is clearly far from the great King of the Gnomes he envisions himself to be. While not without scientific prowess, imagination and cunning his planning and technological abilities are strongly undermined by his overconfidence and sloppiness which cause him to botch his calculations and overlook any flaw his plans and inventions may have. Each of his major plans have failed and backfired spectacularly on him.
* TheStarscream: His dream is to become High Tinker of the Gnomes and then proclaim himself their king, when he failed to achieve that legally he instead chose to discredit and usurp Gelbin. It's even rumored that he was in control of the Troggs even before their invasion and orchestrated it just to reach his goals.
* TheUsurper: He tried to become High Tinker at Mekkatorque's expense. He failed.
* TreacherousAdvisor: Convinced Mekkatorque to irradiate Gnomeregan.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: One of his goals is to make Gnomeregan a great and powerful nation.
** NotSoWellIntentionedExtremist: Though his plans on how to turn Gnomeregan into a powerful nation were to dominate other races instead of coexisting peacefully with them and of chasing the Bronzebeard dwarves who had never been anything but close allies and friends to the gnomes of half of their home in Dun Morogh. He was also perfectly willing to betray and kill his own people just to overthrow his best friend and become High Tinker. By the time of "Cut Short" he makes it clear that he intends to become the ruler of the Gnomes by force instead of being elected.

A high ranking agent in the Gnomeregan Covert Ops dispatched to Tanaris to see that Gnomeregan's interests are secured. She plays cute and innocent, but it's an act to cover the determined and (if necessary) ruthless agent within. Shows up several more times over following expansions, but most prominently in Battle for Azeroth, where she participates in much of the Alliance's war effort in Zandalar and Kul Tiras.
----

* AscendedExtra: Downplayed. She first started as an NPC that debuted in Cataclysm that served as the Alliance representative in Gadgetzan. Come Battle for Azeroth, however, she starts playing a major role in the war campaign and becomes more developed as a character although she doesn't have much involvement with the primary Alliance characters.
* BladeEnthusiast : She doesn’t not have “A” collection, she has SEVERAL collections of knives. It’s one of the reasons she easily bonds with Keeshan.
* BloodKnight: Dissonantly violent for a Gnome especially, but even compared to most Alliance characters Kelsey's unnervingly eager to get her knives bloody. It says a lot that she forms a kinship with a Rambo {{Expy}} by just being herself.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: While she isn't truly evil, she does use a perky and cheerful act in Gadgetzan while trying to convince Noggenfogger to sign an agreement with the Gnomes. Her interactions with the Horde Goblins and later when she is on field show she actually can be very nasty and ruthless.
* HypocriticalHumor: In her rivalry with the Horde Goblins. She repeatedly criticizes them for doing things such as pillaging pirates they are attacking, then orders you to do ''the exact same thing'' in your quests just so to show Gnomes are better at it than goblins.
* OddFriendship: She forms one with veteran John J. Keeshan over shared interests, such as blowing things up.
* PowerPerversionPotential: In one of her quests where you collect treasures to bring back to her, she warns you her goggles can see through the bag to check if you are trying to keep some for yourself. Then she reveals she can ''also'' use them to see through your armor...
* RoseHairedSweetie: Invoked; she has pink hair, and as for the attitude, well, see above.
* WrenchWench: Even for a gnome, she's got a rather eccentric love of machines, and ironically a rather Goblin-esque [[StuffBlowingUp love of explosives]].

An ambitious gnomish mage who seeks great power for his own ends, though most see him as little more than a nuisance.
----
* ArtifactOfDoom: He wants to collect these, [[SuspiciouslySpecificDenial to make sure they don't fall into the wrong hands, of course.]]
* AwLookTheyReallyDoLoveEachOther: Has a contentious relationship with his wife, Millificent. Regardless, when Bwonsamdi sends players to reclaim his mojo from the two, they work together to fight the players, and in the end Millhouse surrenders the mojo for Millificent's sake, an act which touches her.
* BaitAndSwitchBoss: He gets knocked away by a giant worm before he gets the chance to fight you in Stonecore.
* BerserkButton: Don’t call him lowly.
* BreakoutCharacter: His initial appearance was basically just meant to give you a quippy sidekick to be reinforcements against a single end boss of a dungeon. His voice acting and his lines going memetic gave him increasingly more relevance until he became one of the most well-known Gnomes in the game who has shown up at least once in every expansion since ''Cataclysm'' in some form or another (reaching a head in ''Warlords'' and ''Legion'' where he was directly one of your underlings), and is one of the alternate Mage heroes in ''VideoGame/HearthstoneHeroesOfWarcraft''.
* EvilAllAlong / FaceHeelTurn: While appearing friendly, if a bit weird in Tempest Keep. He later reveals himself to be part of the Twilight’s Hammer in ''Cataclysm'', or at least joined it after having spent an unknown amount of time locked up next to Harbinger Skyriss.
* EvilIsHammy
* HeelFaceTurn: Claims to have undergone one in Warlords of Draenor. He’s clearly lying.
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: During his brief escapade as a Twilight's Hammer cultist, nothing really goes his way, and he ultimately ends up posing no threat whatsoever.
* LaughablyEvil: Emphasis on "laughable" due to his eccentricity and being thoroughly ineffectual as a villain.
* PrisonRape: "Prison taught me one very important lesson. Well two if you count how to hold your soap."
* TokenEvilTeammate: A member of the Twilight's Hammer. However, he sides with the adventurer on Draenor to help fight the Iron Horde and the Tirisgarde in the fight against the Legion.
* UnexplainedRecovery: In his Cataclysm appearance he's knocked off a cliff to his apparent demise. He later shows up perfectly fine in the Brawler's Guild, with the announcer claiming Stonecore was merely a setback.

A warlock most famous for showing up to the Argent Tournament, trying to summon a Doomguard, and instead summoning '''''JARAXXUS! EREDAR LORD OF THE BURNING LEGION!!!!!'''''
----
* DoNotTauntCthulhu: Or in his case, an Eredar Lord.
* EvilIsNotAToy: Jaraxxus [[CurbStompBattle one-shots]] him within moments of arriving.
* FailedASpotCheck: Really should have seen Jaraxxus coming.
* IncomingHam: He goes from attending (presumably) the Tournament, to spontaneously summoning in a powerful Demon. also, "PREPARE FOR OBLIVION!"
* InTheBlood: According to his sister, the name "Fizzlebang" has a bad reputation of warlocks summoning demons beyond their control.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Because of his blunder in summoning Jaraxxus as an Alliance member, Garrosh accuses the Alliance of incompetence at best, and an attempted attack against the Horde at worst. This sets the two factions against each other again while they ''should'' be preparing for the upcoming battle with the Lich King.
