The protagonist whose actions form the basis of ''Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle''. Lux is the former seventh prince of the Old Arcadia Empire. After the death of his mother, wanting to change the decadent Empire, he becomes the youngest Drag-Knight in order to have an audience with his estranged father the Emperor. When words failed, he plots with his older half-brother Fugil to bring the end of the Empire as peacefully as possible.

After the Empire's fall, under the amnesty of the current kingdom, he becomes the "Chore Prince" of the New Kingdom Atismata to do odd jobs under parole to pay a debt of about 1/5 of the nation's wealth. One day, when trying to retrieve a girl's bag from a cat, he falls through the roof of an all girl's academy's communal bath. He then saves a girl from some falling debris and ends up straddling on top of her. After some misunderstandings and fighting, Lux becomes the first male student of the Royal Knight Academy.
----
* AccidentalPervert: He occasionally gets in these situations with the main girls; from groping to seeing them under-clothed.
* AceCustom: His Wyvern is one. In anyone's hands, it's nothing more than clunky, heavy, impractical piece of machinery. In his hands however, it's an awesome machine that can go toe-to-toe against a Divine Drag Ride.
* AcePilot: One of the best in the series and in nothing more than a quack Drag Ride; definitely a Plugger.
* AffectionateNickname: He has a few.
** His childhood friend Philuffy calls him Lu-chan.
** His classmate Tillfur calls him Lux-cchi.
* AlmightyJanitor: Despite losing his status as prince and becoming the new kingdom's errand boy, he's still one of the best pilots of the series. Gloriously averted at the end of the anime at least, where Lisha chooses him to be her knight. This is also averted in the light novel, where he acts as his country's Seven Dragon Paladin representative [[spoiler:and later becomes the temporary king]].
* AttractiveBentGender: His disguise as "Luno" is a little bit too convincing.
* AwesomeMomentOfCrowning: Downplayed. In Volume 19, [[spoiler:he becomes king of Atismata for one year until the government can transition into a republic. This is fitting with the lesson he learned throughout the series: that he can't save everyone by himself, but he can guide others onto the correct path.]]
* BadassAdorable: When he was only 12 years old, he ''annihilated'' 1200 strong men.
* BatmanGrabsAGun: Subverted. [[spoiler:Lux seriously considers killing Rosa in order to prevent any further atrocities from her, but the combination of Phi dissuading him and Rosa jeered at by an angry mob like he once was causes him to falter.]]
* BattleCouple: With Lisesharte. She's been shown having the highest compatibality with him on the battlefield amongst the BattleHarem, hands down.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: The reason he rushes out to rescue Krulcifer from Kreutzer, despite her drugging him to keep him out of the duel? She helped him with his homework, after a long, rough day of many, many odd jobs that he couldn't refuse.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Meek, shy, amiable, and exceptionally patient and kind, but if you ''ever'' piss him off, may God have mercy on your soul.
* BlackSwordsAreBetter: The Sword Device for Bahamut.
* BullyHunter: The reason he got into a fight with the three "instructors" in Volume 2, is because they were bullying his underclassmen.
* BullyingADragon: [[MuggingTheMonster Ok, adversaries thinking they're superior to a teen wielding a drag-ride that looks like an unwieldy piece of junk, and provoking him]] makes sense. When that same teen pulls out [[TheDreaded Bahamut]], showcasing that he's either the guy who single-handed took out 1200 hardened drag-ride veterans, or strong/skilled enough to actually beat that person, provoking him to fight you [[TooDumbToLive makes a lot less sense.]]
* ButtMonkey: Although Relie Aingram ''will'' bring her full authority to bear to aid and protect Lux, should the need arise, her favorite hobby is finding new and interesting ways to torment him, purely for her own pleasure. Starting by putting [[AccidentalPervert Lux]] and [[InnocentFanserviceGirl Philuffy]] in the same bedroom, and having them share a bath.
* CainAndAbel: Subverted with his archnemesis and half-brother Fugil. [[spoiler:He admits he was only pretending to be a member of Lux's generation in order to bring down the empire from within]].
* ChargedAttack: <Reload on Fire> functions as this by charging time, which slows him down for 5 seconds and then speeding him up for 5 seconds. He can also apply this time compression to his allies' Divine Raiments to increase their destructive power.
* ChickMagnet: About every girl in the academy has interest in him. Probably due to the fact that he is the only male student and that he is a NiceGuy.
* ChildProdigy: Invented a lot of techniques the knights use at the age of 12, probably even earlier than that. [[spoiler:While it's revealed Fugil actually invented these techniques, Lux was never taught these techniques directly and still reproduced them with minimal instruction.]]
* CluelessChickMagnet: Despite multiple girls explicitly telling him that they love him and kissing him, it just doesn't get through his head.
* CovertPervert: He is a healthy, heterosexual teenage boy surrounded by beautiful ladies, several of whom frequently flirt with him quite aggressively. Of course, he's going to notice.
* CripplingOverspecialization:
** The base for his Drag Ride is a Wyvern-type which means it's capable of flight. Problem is, most of it is covered with a lot of defense which heavily weighs him down. Doesn't stop him from being one of the best pilots.
** Most of his training is focused on handling his Drag-Ride, but his ground combat skills aren't as good and he consistently struggles against fighting opponents on foot. In Volume 20 Chapter 5, he defeats Yoruka in a Drag-Ride duel in a matter of seconds, but loses in hand-to-hand combat. In the epilogue, the narration states he eventually improves enough to defeat her in ground combat.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Lampshaded by his sister. Oblivious towards his surroundings, however give him a Drag-Ride and he'll wreck you.
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: He has silver-grey hair and eyes due to [[SharedUnusualTrait being part of the Arcadia imperial family]].
* DangerousForbiddenTechnique: The aptly named "Overlimit" unlocked by Lisesharte prior to exploring the ruins in episode 8 is this. It gives Lux a significant boost in power with Bahamut, but in the worst case scenario could kill him.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: His mom died because no one helped him thanks to being part of the royalty, they even threw stones, and cursed at him. His father the emperor didn't listen to him because his ideals were different. Immediately after that, the same Imperial court took his friend Philuffy away to perform horrific experiments on, willing to wreck the Empire's entire economy in the process by angering a very influential merchant house. [[spoiler:He is unable is save Philuffy and breaks down to the point where Fugil has to erase his memory of the incident to continue the coup. During the coup, his involvement is leaked to the emperor, who kidnaps Airi in order to force Lux to stand down.]] Finally, he was betrayed by Fugil who [[spoiler:tries to tempt him into becoming TheUnfettered, defeats him, brutally deconstructs his ideals, and manipulates his memory again so that he'll be a useful pawn in the future]]. And for the next five years, he has forced to take on errands as part of paying off a debt equivalent to 1/5 of the national budget, and should he be simply accused of wrongdoing, the debt could simply transfer over to his younger, frailer sister.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Design wise, Bahamut looks RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver. but it's piloted by [[NiceGuy Lux of all people]]. Of course, it used to belong to his far eviler half-brother.
* DeliberateInjuryGambit: His technique "Recoil Burst" works in this fashion. To use it, he deliberately lets Bahamut, or his "quack" Wyvern, enter "Rampage" state, which is where numerous energy attacks trigger an overload. Just before the overload causes catastrophic failure, he unleashes all the acumulated energy in a single high-powered shot. The only way to avoid it is to teleport out of the way. Even divine Drag-rides can't survive a direct hit.
* {{Determinator}}: When the readers are first introduced to him, he's chasing after a cat through ''the entire town''. It goes on from there.
* DifficultButAwesome: Bahamut is one hell of an awesome machine and he can crank out moves that can destroy landscapes easily. The problem? It's a huge energy hog that drains him after using it and ends up in a coma that could last for a few days to a whole week. The energy consumption, along with the charging period of <Reload On Fire>, make Bahamut AwesomeButImpractical for inexperienced wielders. Due to Bahamut's weaknesses, Lux has to learn to read his opponents accurately so he can make the most of Bahamut's limited use time, which is why he uses an unwieldy customized Wyvern to train himself.
* DisguisedInDrag: Originally DraggedIntoDrag by the Triad in episode 6, Lux dons a female disguise named "Luno" while spending time with Celestia, much to the Triad's delight, so as not to trigger her perceived hatred of men, a perception compounded by her vehement insistence that he be expelled from the academy near the end of episode 6.
* DraggedIntoDrag: The Triad, requesting his aid in fighting a dangerous intruder to the academy in episode 6 does this to him. Nobody realizes it's him because he's just so very attractive as a girl. In the later volumes, he gets dragged into wearing a maid outfit.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Lux is the reason the Kingdom exists, and could snap its entire military over his knee with Bahamut. They put him in a collar and call him "Chore Prince". Good thing he's such a NiceGuy.
* ExperiencedProtagonist: Here we have the legendary Black Hero that once defeated the Arcadia Empire. By definition, that makes him the best warrior of his generation, but [[SecretIdentity he keeps that under wraps]] to prevent political backlash.
* FakeMemories: During the coup d'etat led by Count Atismata, Lux used the Divine Drag-Ride Bahamut to defeat the Old Empire's 1,200 Drag-Rides. Unfortunately for him, Fugil betrayed him and the plan by killing the imperial court. [[spoiler:This turns out to be a fake memory planted by Ouroboros. What actually happened was that the Old Empire had successfully crushed the coup d'état (thanks to information from Raffi Atismata), then the emperor took Airi hostage to try to force Lux to surrender. Fugil intervened, rescuing Airi and killing the empire's army and court. However, Lux refused to go along with his plans, so Fugil altered his memories.]]
* FakeUltimateHero: Downplayed when it comes to his reputation as the Black Hero. [[spoiler:The narration speculates that Fugil used <Endless> to make Lux seem like the one who did the heavy lifting during the revolution while downplaying his own role. However, by Volume 16, Lux's Baptism and training allow him to narrowly defeat a Sacred Eclipse clone of Fugil, showing he can live up to his reputation. Additionally, Aeril and Alma consider him to be the more IdealHero of the two, since he actually cares about the people around him rather than considering them expendable for his ideals.]]
* FeelNoPain: He can apply <Reload On Fire> on himself to dull his pain for a few seconds. Unfortunately, this causes the pain to be multiplied after the charging effect ends.
* FirstEpisodeTwist: Lux is the "Black Hero". Trying to discuss this series without spoiling that part is pretty hard.
* TheGift: Females on average have better compatibility with Drag-Rides, though Lux is one of the few exceptions to this statistic, thus causing a nearly inevitable BattleHarem situation when the headmaster finds out about him. [[spoiler:At least part of this is due to Baptism, though.]]
* HenpeckedHusband: For all intents and purposes. Outside the battlefield, where his vastly superior experience, abilities, and tactics allows him to take command, he's being constantly dragged around by his BattleHarem, among others. This is considerably more justified than most cases, as due to the terms of his IndenturedServitude, he's effectively their slave, and they know it.
* TheHero: The main character, the pilot of the titular Drag-Ride and the center of the BattleHarem.
* HourOfPower: Bahamut is an incredible machine even compared to other Divine Drag-Rides, but has horrible energy efficiency even for someone with good Drag-Ride compatibility [[spoiler:and Baptism]] like Lux. He can therefore only use it for about 10 minutes.
* HumbleHero: He's not looking for fame, glory, riches, or women (although he could use the riches to get out of his IndenturedServitude), all he cares about is protecting the citizens and keeping his friends happy and safe. As a result, he gets three out of the four things listed, fame, glory, and women.
* ImNotAHeroIm: Combined with BadassBoast while rescuing Lisasharte from Velvet in both the manga and light novel. This comes full-circle in Volume 19, where he states that no one can become a perfect hero and save the world, but one can still live in a way that inspires others to do good.
--> "I am not a hero. I’m the weakest Drag-Knight who destroyed the Empire."
* IndenturedServitude: Since the fall of the Old Arcadia Empire, under the amnesty of the New Kingdom of Atismata, he becomes the Kingdom's "Chore Prince" to pay a debt equal to 1/5 of the nation's wealth doing odd-jobs. Even after becoming a student of the academy, he is still a "Chore Prince" taking requests from the girls in the academy. His classmate Tillfur even notes that it would help pay the debt faster since they were all noble ladies and are very rich. Being the "Chore Prince" under amnesty also means he is protected by the Kingdom from assassination attempts by either those who still harbor deep resentment toward the Empire or Empire loyalists seeking revenge against him for destroying the Empire. [[spoiler:As of Volume 16's epilogue, he is no longer an indentured servant to the kingdom.]]
* IneffectualLoner: [[spoiler:When he realizes Queen Raffi sided with Fugil and is using <Endless> to maintain her power, Lux decides not to involve his friends in his secret rebellion against Raffi. This works out poorly for him, since Raffi brainwashes them further under his nose and exhausts him by sending his friends to fight him one by one. Later on, he admits he was not so different from Fugil in trying to become a hero by himself.]]
* IOweYouMyLife: To Philuffy's family. Despite being of the hated royal blood, Philuffy took him in without prejudice. He would repay the favor, or at least try, when she was taken by The Empire to be experimented on. The Emperor just barely granted her mother an audience and only because she was of a very important merchant house, and even then turned down her pleas to free the child.
* KnightInSourArmor: Heavily believes in an ideal world, but is constantly plagued by a lot of betrayal and deceit.
* LadyAndKnight: The White Knight to ''four'' different Bright Ladies: Lisesharte, Krulcifer, Philuffy and Celestia. Ironically enough, he is also the Bright Lord to Yoruka’s Black Knight.
* LaserGuidedAmnesia: [[spoiler:After the coup, he attempts to duel Fugil and loses, causing him to lose his memories of the duel and of Phi's fate at the hands of the empire.]]
* LaserGuidedKarma: Because he stood up for Phillufy, she took him in when he had nowhere else to go.
* LightIsGood: ''Literally'', because Lux means "light" in Latin.
* LadyAndKnight: The White Knight, while Lisesharte, Krulcifer, Philiffy and Celestia are the Bright Ladies. Ironically enough, he is the Bright Lord to Yoruka’s Black Knight.
* LovedByAll: By Volume 12, the whole academy trusts him, much to the bafflement of those who still distrust him for his ancestors. In Volume 19, his accomplishments make him popular enough [[spoiler:that the people of Atismata accept him as their temporary king.]]
* LoverTugOfWar: Is the victim of this in episode 6, caught between Krulcifer and Lisesharte. Unsurprisingly, episode 12 has all the other main characters joing the tug of war, including Yoruka.
* MarryThemAll: Starting from Volume 15, Lux has confessed to four of the girls of his harem, but due to the resets they have no memory until the events of volume 18. Then after, Lux promises he will never stop loving them.
* MindOverMatter: Bahamut has a special Armament, "Linker Pulse," which can create a force field to control an object's trajectory.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: When Sacred Eclipse transforms into someone he feels guilty about, [[spoiler:she transforms into Lisha, who claims Lux killed her. Due to his LaserGuidedAmnesia, Lux doesn't know what this means, though Sacred Eclipse's transformation still succeeds in making him hesitate]].
* NervesOfSteel: Despite being flustered by various ecchi situations, he can be surprisingly composed in battle. [[spoiler:When Queen Raffi expresses killing intent towards him in order to test if he's affected by <Endless>, he manages to keep his cool to avoid giving himself away.]]
* NewTransferStudent: In two different ways. First, when he's ordered, under the terms of his amnesty, to attend the academy, and second while playing the role of "Luno."
* NiceGuy: There's nothing to hate about Lux. He's just so unfailingly polite and honest that at least ''six'' girls fell in love with him, not to mention he became an instant celebrity at school.
* TheOneGuy: Due to circumstances beyond his control and his unusually high Drag-Ride compatibility, he's the only male student at the previously all-female Drag Ride training academy. The academy's dean, Relie Aingram, does not miss any and every opportunity to exploit this for her own pleasure. This is humorously deconstructed in one of the side stories, where he laments that being in an all-girls school makes it hard for him to make male friends other than Greifer and Coral. [[spoiler:And the latter isn't really a guy]].
* OneManArmy: When using Bahamut. Ask the 1200 men during the coup. However, this mainly applies when his opponents are weaker Abysses or {{Red Shirt}}s who use mass-produced Drag-rides. Opponents who use Divine Drag-rides or Elixir tend to give him more trouble in single-combat.
* ParentalAbandonment: Mom died thanks to an accident and no one helping them because they're "part of the corrupt royalty" while dad chased him away, and his dad was later killed by his own older brother.
* ParalyzingFearOfSexuality: Usually played for laughs. When any of the girls in his harem actively pursue him sexually, he freaks out. One illustration has his entire harem, including Lisesharte, sleeping comfortably around him in elegant, erotic attire and he's right in the middle, more terrified than a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Subverted, because he uses the Bahamut for good.
* RedBaron: "Weakest Undefeated" sounds like a sissy nickname, until his adversaries realize that he could have literally kicked their asses if he really wanted to. To clarify via its [[MeaningfulName backstory]], Lux earned this title by fighting tournament opponents to a draw, never winning but also never losing. The thing is, Lux never cared about the fame; he only participated in tournament matches to train himself with Bahamut's weight and agility. His modified Wyvern, as mentioned by Lisha, had its armor reinforced in odd and incongruous places, which was secretly meant to mimic Bahamut's weight distribution. Lux was using competitive, official ranked battles as glorified tutorial sessions. Even when he's just practicing, Lux's skill is such that he inadvertently created a reputation for himself.
* ReplacementGoldfish: He serves as this for Yoruka who happily admits how similar he is to her deceased younger brother.
* RescueRomance: He's '''earned''' his BattleHarem by coming to the rescue of each and every one of the girls in it. The only exceptions are when he went up against Saniya, the sadistic, AmbiguouslyBrown, FalseFriend BitchInSheepsClothing, and Hayes, the AxeCrazy OmnicidalManiac both of whom have been shown beyond any shadow of doubt that they neither want nor deserve redemption.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: Though he does question it sometimes whether he's doing the right thing or not.
* SaveTheVillain:
** During the coup, he wanted to spare the imperial court, but Fugil killed them. [[spoiler:He doesn't remember due to memory erasure, but he went as far as fighting Fugil in an attempt to save them, despite how they took his sister hostage and crushed the rebellion.]]
** In Volume 19, [[spoiler:he attempts to grab Fugil's hand when the latter is about to fall off Ouroboros. Unfortunately, Fugil crumbles into dust due to receiving a fatal wound in their duel, though this gesture does restore his faith in humanity to some extent.]]
* SecretIdentity: Him being the "Black Hero" who during the coup helped defeated the Empire's 1,200 Drag-Rides is a secret to the citizens of the Kingdom.
* SecretlySelfish: Some antagonists, like Fugil and Singlen, accuse him of trying to be a self-sacrificing IdealHero because he wants to gain the affection that he was denied in his childhood. [[spoiler:This causes him difficulty in Volume 15 when Fugil changes the world to give him the affection and peace that he always wanted, making it so that Lux struggles to realize that something is wrong with the situation.]]
* ShrinkingViolet: Celestia thinks "Luno" is one.
* SinsOfOurFathers: He's stuck with paying 1/5 of the national debt as penance for his father's actions. Additionally, the Lords and Xfer clan distrust him for being a descendent of Arcadia's traitor branch.
* SobriquetSexSwitch: When DraggedIntoDrag in order to interact with Celestia, Lux goes by the alias "Luno".
* SurpassedTheTeacher: Averted. While he does get close to Fugil in terms of skill and catches him by surprise a few times, his former teacher still manages to turn the situation in his favor with tactics that Lux wouldn't have thought of.
* StockLightNovelHero: Lux is the legendary Black Hero that destroyed his own empire to save innocent people, is the only guy in an all-girls school (which means an UnwantedHarem), saves the newly formed kingdom (ruled by one of the girls in the aforementioned harem) on a regular basis and, along with his sister and Aeril, is [[WhiteSheep the only good person]] in family of hideous and pathetic excuses for human beings.
* SwordBeam: Recoil Burst.
* SympathyForTheDevil: Downplayed. [[spoiler:As much as he wanted to kill Rosa, he felt sorry for her being attacked by an angry mob like he and his mother were in his childhood]].
* TakingTheBullet:
** When he comes to Lishesharte's aid, he takes a blow from Velvet Barth in his "quack" wyvern. In the light novel and anime, his machine loses an arm. In the manga, his wyvern gets blasted to pieces.
** In Volume 11, [[spoiler:he takes a fatal attack from Singlen in order to save Yoruka. Fortunately, Sacred Eclipse decided to revive him with Elixir.]]
* TechnicalPacifist: He never fights to kill. His little stunt as the Black Hero? He did that with ''zero'' casualties. Played with [[spoiler:in his final battle with Fugil. He unleashes a Quick Draw on Fugil and thought the latter blocked it, but Fugil's Bahamut gave out at the last second and the attack dealt a fatal blow, despite Lux's attempt to stop it]].
* TheGreatestStoryNeverTold: Otherwise if they reveal that he's the Black Hero, mass panic would ensue. Not to mention, knowledge that the Old Empire's own Prince was the one responsible for its destruction would undermine the New Kingdom's credibility, as people would speculate that it was not the product of revolution at all, but rather a convincingly staged puppet government.
* TookALevelInBadass: [[spoiler:In Volume 16 Chapter 5, Lux's body finally adjusts to the Baptism he received during the Avalon trials, giving him improved physical strength and allowing him to overcome a Sacred Eclipse clone of Fugil.]]
* TrainingFromHell: He treats his fights with almost anybody as training in his customized, quack job Wyvern as nothing more than training to fully control Bahamut. [[spoiler:The reason he goes this far is because of suppressed memories of Fugil using Ouroboros!Bahamut, causing him to realize that he needs to train hard to catch up.]]
* UnderestimatingBadassery: He's usually on both ends of this trope. He usually receives this trope because of his nickname "Weakest Undefeated" when it turns out the only reason why he doesn't even attack once is because he considers a real life-or-death fight as nothing more than TrainingFromHell to operate Bahamut better. He's also on the other end when he sometimes underestimates the girls only to get his ass kicked. Just ask him after underestimating Krulcifer and Philuffy about that.
* TheUnfavorite: During a flashback of the coup, the Emperor calls both him and Airi failures.
* UnwantedHarem: Lux earns the affections of five different girls; all of them {{Action Girl}}s equipped with Powered Armor and hailing from noble families. While Lux is not entirely opposed to the idea of romance, he feels he should focus on providing for his little sister, who is implied to [[BigBrotherAttraction see Lux as more than just a brother]]. Not helping matters is that the teacher's headmistress and Lux's fellow students enjoy playing matchmaker between him and the girls.
* UnwittingPawn: [[spoiler:The emperor knew all along that Lux was helping Count Atismata and intentionally overlooked his son's actions to easily find the rebels.]]
* TheWorfEffect: [[spoiler:He loses to Singlen in a contest of pure skill in Volume 6, where both duel using weak mass-produced Drag-rides. The only good news is that Lux managed to learn two of Singlen's difficult skills to defeat Dilwy.]]
* WreckedWeapon:
** In Volume 3, he inflicts this on Saniya and several third years by forming a force field around his weapon and striking the weak point of their own.
** When [[spoiler:the fake Fugil]] breaks Lux's blade in half, the latter counters by shortening the distance between the two to the point where his shorter blade is more advantageous than his opponent's longer blade.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: [[spoiler: Fugil claims Count Atismata would have killed Lux and Airi in order to prevent the public from realizing he was backed by an Arcadia.]]

The first princess of the Kingdom of Atismata.
----
* AdaptationalWimp: Despite having a modest reputation as a fighter and a technician in the anime; Lisesharte rarely, if ever, wins a fight by herself. Most of the time, she gets into trouble and Lux has to bail her out. [[spoiler:In the light novels, she kills Hayes; but in the anime, Lux delivers the final blow.]]
* AffectionateNickname: She allows those close to her to call her Lisha.
* AttackDrone: Tiamat's special armament <Legion> are long-range throwing weapons of small streamlined metals which are controlled and hold a propulsive strength themselves. Usually, four of them were equipped to the airframe; after launch, the units could freely move and directly impact damage to the enemy. A maximum of 16 can be deployed.
* AscendedFangirl: Implied to be one to the "Black Hero" by episode 1's opening.
* AwesomeMomentOfCrowning: She officially becomes Queen of Astimata in episode 12, to the cheers of the entire population.
* BattleCouple: With Lux. He can, and does, trust his back to her at all times, without exception, even after they just met and he was dueling her. As a prime example, when going up against Hayes, he sends Philuffy and Krulcifer away to deal with the insurrectionists while tag-teaming with Lisha to take down Hayes and the giant. Celestia wasn't even present.
* {{BFG}}: Tiamat's auxiliary armament <Seven Heads>, it is a main armament two times bigger than the Breath Gun, connected to Tiamat’s right shoulder and right arm. A huge gun barrel with seven muzzles.
* BreakTheCutie: During the time she was kidnapped, she dearly wished to be saved by her father, and all she could think about was her family, so she didn't take well that her father abandoned her and the fact that sometime later he even died along with her little sister, leaving her alone.
* BrokenBird: She has suffered abuse, abandonment, being orphaned, and loneliness. Her tragic past is such a trauma for her that she had a choked voice and was moved to tears just by telling her past to Lux.
* CategoryTraitor: Everyone from the old Empire, bar Lux, and Airi, calls her a dirty traitor, including herself, because the coup set her free from her slavery and the Astimata Kingdom anointed her the crown princess.
* ChasteHeroine: She is very innocent about romance and love, even having difficultly describing what a kiss is. This stunned some of her classmates at how little she knew about love.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She ''really'' does not like other women getting too close to Lux. By the time of episode 12, she's become resigned to the fact that she's part of a BattleHarem; however, she's not quite as eager to share Lux as the rest of the girls. She both wants to be the primary LoveInterest, and while she doesn't seem to begrudge the others for being affectionate with Lux, she ''really'' can't stomach them doing so right in front of her. It's so bad she draws a sword on Lux to demand he proclaims who he loves most, [[LoverTugOfWar which is something he doesn't even get a chance to answer.]]
* CombiningMecha: Her Over Unit technique allows her to equip Tiamat with general-purpose Drag-rides as weapons and armor.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Before the coup, she was captured by the Empire to be used as blackmail. When Count Atismata did not try to save her, her captors made her choose to either die or live and become an assassin for the Empire. Not brave enough to take her own life, she chose to live and was branded with the mark of the Empire. Soon after, the coup happened and she was rescued.
* DefrostingIceQueen: She's antagonistic towards Lux when they first meet, hating him for seeing her SlaveBrand. After he protects her from an Abyss, she quickly opens up and befriends him.
* TheEngineer: She's the chief of the atelier for Drag-Rides, being very skilled at repairing and modifying them for her age.
* FauxActionGirl: While she is in no way incompetent or weak, (once having taken out a wing of Kreutzer's mercenaries off-screen), her on-screen battles have her so outclassed, that she needs to be rescued the vast majority of the time. [[spoiler: Although she does get to kill Hayes, the most powerful antagonist yet shown, in single combat in the light novel. This is subverted in Volume 12, where she fuses a Drake, Wyrm, and Wyvern to Tiamat in order to defeat the Dragon Marauders' commanders.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Lux. They are both very similar, yet vastly different. Both suffer from incredible SurvivorsGuilt as a result of the fall of the Empire. Both are essentially slaves. While Lisha has a brand on her belly, Lux is forced to wear a collar. Both have faced horrible betrayal and abandonment, as well as personal loss, and both still strive to make their home country a better place, despite all the grief and suffering they've endured, and still think they're not good enough for the job. While Lisha has the full support of the public, from the beginning, Lux is forced to take on odd jobs and is hounded by everyone.
* GravityMaster: Tiamat's Divine Raiment <Suppressor>
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Once you get to know her, she's easily the sweetest and kindest girl in the whole series.
* HeroicSacrifice: Subverted in Volume 19. [[spoiler:Ouroboros sets a rule where any attack will cause the attacker to take twice as much damage. Despite knowing that the reflected damage will kill her, Lisha uses <Suppressor> on Ouroboros and damages it to the point where it can't use its Divine Raiment. However, Lux uses <Reload on Fire> to slow down the reflected attack long enough to get Lisha out of her Drag-Ride.]]
* HeroicSelfDeprecation: She has low self-esteem, and she doesn't think of herself as a princess because she feels unworthy and unqualified.
* ICannotSelfTerminate: When given the choice of suicide or slavery, she chose slavery because she could not bring herself to commit suicide.
* InSeriesNickname: Called "Lisha" for short.
* IntimateMarks: She was branded with the Arcadia symbol [[https://i.pinimg.com/736x/40/f8/9c/40f89c8740d267a4f09a1c18b109454b--google-search.jpg near her groin]].
* LadyAndKnight: The Bright Lady to Lux's White Knight.
* LonersAreFreaks: It has been stated by her classmates that she is a misanthrope and that she didn't even applied for a maid to attend to her due to this.
* MadeASlave: The corrupt nobles of the Empire made her one because her father chose to go through with the coup rather than come to her rescue. The complete and utter destruction of the Empire allows her aunt to free her. Sadly, the bad guys don't hesitate to bring this up in attempts to break her.
* MsFixIt: She usually repairs Lux's Wyvern after a battle. She also tries to convince Lux to let her redesign it to her taste, such as adding a drill to it.
* NakedFirstImpression: Her first meeting with Lux has him accidentally falling in the women's bath and rescuing her from debris while she's bathing. While she had more than enough reason to be angry, she was especially so because Lux saw her SlaveBrand.
* NakedOnArrival: Her first appearance has her naked in the bathhouse where Lux fell in.
* {{Nephewism}}: After her father died, she was adopted by her aunt Raffi who became the queen of the New Kingdom as the princess.
* ParentalAbandonment: Her mother died when she was young due to illness, her father chose to abandon her after she was kidnapped, and later he died during the war along with her sister.
* ParentalNeglect: She said that her father always acted indifferent towards her, and for this reason, she didn't like him. Plus he abandoned her.
* PervertRevengeMode: She seems to have an extreme one after Lux accidentally falls into the bathhouse, even though the headmaster and most of the other students are more forgiving. [[spoiler:This is subverted. While she's certainly not happy with the ecchi hijinks, Lisha was more concerned that Lux saw her SlaveBrand and wanted to silence him to protect her secret.]]
* PrettyPrincessPowerhouse: This lovely princess is usually at the frontlines in every fight.
* RedBaron: Nicknamed "Scarlet War Princess".
* RedEyesTakeWarning: DoubleSubverted. Yes, her eyes are naturally red but she is a big sweetie once you get to know her. However, she is still a competent Drag-Knight and will not hesitate to jump into battle.
* RescueIntroduction: She first meets Lux when he saved her from the falling debris of the bathroom's ceiling.
* RescueRomance: She falls for Lux, hard, after he saved her life, twice. First, when their duel was interrupted by an Abyss, and second when he came to her aid against Velvet Barth.
* RoyalsWhoActuallyDoSomething: The crown princess, yet she is still one of the best Drag Knights in the series, and the top mechanic in the country, if not the world.
* SadisticChoice: Was a victim of this in very early childhood; slavery or suicide.
* SlaveBrand: Has the mark of the Empire on her belly.
* SociallyAwkwardHero: She has no problems with going on dangerous missions, but she had difficulty in just describing what a kiss is, and she basically spends most of the series having a bright red face due to being either embarrassed or nervous.
* StepfordSmiler: She dislikes to be and to behave like a princess, but her citizens force her to be a "splendid person of character" and will blame her if she doesn't do it, so she has to "pretend" even though she is fed up with it, and she also must conceal her tragic past from others.
* StockLightNovelCalamityPrincess: She's nicknamed the "Scarlet War Princess" for her crimson-colored HumongousMecha named Tiamat with great destructive power. Being an inexperienced princess of a brand new country, she is worried that she won't make a good ruler, and is especially ashamed that during the coup de tat several years prior, she was taken prisoner by the former Empire and given a slave brand that she keeps hidden. Following an originally-frosty meeting with the protagonist, Lux Arcadia (who was formerly a prince of the Empire), she sees him as her opportunity to gain influence and confidence in her future rule, eventually making him her knight. Naturally, also quickly falls in love with him and becomes extremely jealous when he attracts an UnwantedHarem of other women within the all-girls academy they attend. Particularly, her main rival is the blue-haired, emotionally-reserved Krulcifer.
* ThisIsADrill: She briefly installed a drill on Lux's Wyvern, which he immediately wanted to remove. [[spoiler:When fighting the Dragon Marauder leaders with her Over Unit, she uses a drill to catch Vines off guard in close combat.]]
* ThrowingYourSwordAlwaysWorks: Subverted. She throws her sword at Velvet Barth, in her fight with him, twice. The first time she did so, it was a somewhat effective distraction to allow her to get into melee range where she would have carved him up like a turkey if not for his ability to use Quick Draw. In the second instance, she does so because she's out of options, and it's the only way she can resist his murderous intentions, though her aim was only ''slightly'' off. An inch or two upward and to the side, and it would have gone through his eye.
* TookALevelInBadass: In Volume 18, thanks to her Baptism increasing her stamina, her Over Unit technique, and improved tactics in using Tiamat, she manages to defeat [[spoiler:Krulcifer, who also gained various upgrades throughout the story. She also managed to defeat Lux in his Bahamut once, though he was tired and hesitant. Even when he bounces back to full strength to fight her again, she's still evenly matched with him.]]
* TraumaButton: Her SlaveBrand. Unfortunately, most of the villains know about it and push this button whenever they can ForTheEvulz.
* {{Tsundere}}: A very {{downplayed}} version, bordering in {{subversion}}. Lisha is initially hostile towards Lux because she couldn't let him get away with seeing her SlaveBrand. Once Lux protects her from an Abyss, Lisha immediately mellows out and falls completely in love with him. From then on, she acts like a subdued Sweet-type, only getting tsun-tsun when [[ClingyJealousGirl Lux pays attention to other girls.]]
* UptownGirl: Lisha is a princess and is in love with Lux, an ex-prince who has been enslaved by the new kingdom and made work as a handyman.
* WrenchWench: She is also the head Drag-Ride mechanic of the academy. She even created the first original Drag-Ride, the Chimeric Wyvern.
* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: Lux says this word for word to her when he's rescuing her from Velvet.

The adopted daughter of the Eifolk House from the country of Ymir.
----
* AllTheOtherReindeer: Her childhood as the adoptive daughter of the Einfolk family has not been a good one. She considers it a ''good day'' if she's treated like an ornament.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: [[spoiler:She ''looks'' human but she can unlock technology from the lost ruins.]]
* AscendedFangirl: For the "Black Hero."
* BigDamnKiss: [[spoiler: Rewards Lux with this after he rescues her from her BureaucraticallyArrangedMarriage.]]
* BureaucraticallyArrangedMarriage: Her adoptive family is trying to find a "proper" noble to marry her off to, her consent or well-being be damned. Fortunately, they approve of Lux after he dealt with Kreutzer. [[PragmaticVillainy (And they found out that an alliance with the Kreutzer family would only bring harm to themselves.)]]
* CombatClairvoyance: Her Divine Raiment, <Wise Blood>, can predict where the opponent will move towards in the next few seconds.
* DefrostingIceQueen: Starts off cold and aloof, but warms up ''very'' quickly once she learns Lux is the "Black Hero."
* ForeignExchangeStudent: She hails from the religious country of Ymir and attends the Royal Knights Academy in the fort city Cross Feed in the New Kingdom of Atismata.
* HappilyAdopted: Subverted. She's adopted into the Einfolk family and she knows it, but aside from getting food, clothing, and shelter, purely for the sake of appearances, she is terribly verbally and emotionally abused to the point that being treated as an ornament is considered a "good day" to her. Even the family servants look upon her with disdain and try to force her into marriage without her consent or notifying her beforehand because they believe if she's notified, she'll run from it. [[spoiler:Though in Volume 7, her father regrets distancing her from the family and reveals that he originally did so because he didn't want her to fall under the radar of rival families that want to kidnap her again.]]
* HarmfulToMinors: [[spoiler:She was kidnapped by rival noble families in an ill-fated attempt to unlock the secrets of the Ruins.]]
* AnIcePerson: Her Divine Drag-Ride's special armament <Freezing Cannon> is a SniperRifle whose shots can freeze parts of her targets.
* LadyAndKnight: The Bright Lady to Lux’s White Knight.
* LadyOfWar: A graceful, refined young lady whose device manifests as a [[RoyalRapier rapier]]. She pilots her Drag-Ride with much grace.
* LivingMacGuffin: Various nobles of numerous kingdoms and former empire are after her because [[spoiler:she can unlock the ruins and the lost technology]]. Lux doesn't care about any of that and treasures her as a person.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:She breaks down when she hears that she accidentally unleashed a bunch of Abyss from Ymir's Ruins, resulting in the deaths of everyone in the Gizalut family except for Mel. Though her father points out that she was actually kidnapped and forced to open the Ruins by corrupt nobles.]]
* PetTheDog: Despite really having no reason to or nothing to gain from it, especially considering that she came across as someone just exploiting Lux for her own gain at the time, she goes out of her way to help Lux with his homework, after he's had a rough day, so he could get a good night's rest. Lux considers her precious enough to risk his life for as a direct result.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: She wears black pantyhose as part of her uniform, fitting her noble lady image.
* RomanticFakeRealTurn: At first, she only made Lux pretend to be her boyfriend to convince her family to cancel her ArrangedMarriage to Kreutzer. After seeing him risk his life to protect her, consistently, she falls in love with him for real.
* RoyalRapier: Like Celestia, her device is a rapier.
* SamaritanRelationshipStarter: She was cold and aloof to Lux until she saw him come to Lisha's rescue. She's been after him ever since. It also goes both ways, considering the PetTheDog entry.
* TheTease: She loves to flirt with Lux, much to his chagrin. She even has no trouble sharing with other girls!
* TrueBlueFemininity: A refined young lady whose outfits always feature blue in some form.
* YouAreWorthHell: Lux doesn't say it directly, but he does profess this sentiment when rescuing her from Kreutzer.

* ArtificialHuman: [[spoiler: In the anime. If not for Hayes' actions, the world may never have known.]]
* BadPowersGoodPeople: [[spoiler:After Yggdrasil is killed, Philuffy eventually becomes capable of using her Abyss powers without losing control of herself.]]
* BathtubBonding: Snuck into the bath while Lux was there. They also used to bathe together as small children.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: A bunch of kids were planning to push the blame for breaking a statue on her. Lux came to her defense and admitted wrongdoing instead. This would later come back to his benefit when he got thrown out of the castle, as Phillufy would be the only one to take him in.
* BlackEyesOfCrazy: [[spoiler:When her abyss side takes over.]]
* BedmateReveal: She sometimes sneaks into Lux's bed when he's asleep, or unconscious.
* BoxingLessonsForSuperman: She learned martial arts from Magialca, one of the Seven Dragon Paladins. [[spoiler:This was so she could control her Abyss-enhanced strength.]]
* ChildhoodFriends: With Lux.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: Played with. Even though their cohabitation is innocent, Philuffy clearly has an interest in being more than friends with Lux and doesn't like it when other girls get in the way. Of course, [[{{Polyamory}} she's perfectly willing to share if the other girls are.]]
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Most of the time, she acts distracted and barely reacts to anything, not to mention she is constantly thinking about food.
* CombatTentacles: Typhon can launch high tension cables that she can use to restrain, capture, and subdue other Drag-rides, even flying ones.
* DeadAllAlong: According to her sister, and Lux's suppressed memories. [[spoiler:Volume 11 reveals that Sacred Eclipse saved her with Elixir.]]
* DifficultButAwesome: Typhon's Divine Raiment is powerful and difficult to control, which is why she doesn't use it against Celestia in Volume 3, [[spoiler:but uses it while controlled by Hayes in Volume 4]].
* DiscardAndDraw: [[spoiler:After going through another Baptism and gaining the ability to further manipulate her body, Phi ejects Yggdrasil's seed from her body. This prevents her from using B-Blood mode, but also prevents anyone from controlling her with the flute.]]
* TheDogBitesBack: In Volume 5, she finishes off Ragreed, a bully who tried to frame her in their childhood, by herself.
* DyingAsYourself: [[spoiler: She begs Lux to kill her when Hayes uses the magic flute to command her to kill Lux, and her Abyss side wakes up and tries to comply.]]
* GirlishPigtails: Has her hair up like this.
* HalfHumanHybrid: [[spoiler:She is half-Abyss due to an experiment that implanted Abyss tissue into her.]]
* HiddenDepths: Despite her airheaded personality, she successfully catches another merchant in the middle of scamming Lux and forces the cheater to trade on her terms, showing that she's a competent businesswoman.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: She's rather fond of being under-clothed around Lux.
* IOweYouMyLife: Though not aware of it, Lux's actions during the coup supposedly prevented the planned experimentation upon her. [[spoiler:Though it turns out that the experiments were performed and she temporarily died, only to be resurrected by Sacred Eclipse.]]
* {{Irony}}: She's an InnocentFanserviceGirl, that sees nothing wrong with being underclothed around Lux or sneaking into his bed, but she's the one who wears the most conservative swimsuit in public and it's clearly not a body image issue.
* LadyAndKnight: The Bright Lady to Lux’s White Knight.
* LoveConfession: She confesses her love for Lux at the end of episode 9.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: How does she kick ass in her Drag-ride? Beam weapons? Special powers and abilities? No. She kicks ass with mixed martial arts! Lux is stunned when he sees it in action.
* OneWingedAngel: [[spoiler:In Volume 10, she manages to use Yggdrasil's power to strengthen Typhon in a similar manner to Saniya's B-Blood Wyvern, turning it into B-Blood Typhon. This allows her to singlehandedly defeat the King of Vices, who was curb-stomping her earlier.]]
* PatientChildhoodLoveInterest: Philuffy is completely unfazed at Lux's relationships with other girls, and always maintains her [[TheStoic stoic]], somewhat upbeat persona regardless of what happens between them. She seems to have no doubts that she can and will have Lux when everything settles.
* PowerNullifier: Typhon can do this to other Divine Rainments.
* PeoplePuppet: Hayes uses her like this. [[spoiler: Her resisting this almost kills her.]]
* PurpleIsPowerful: Her Divine Drag-Ride is mostly purple and her dress gear has purple trims.
* RoseHairedSweetie: Big surprise there, considering she was Lux’s first real friend.
* SacredFirstKiss: When they were both 8 or 9 years old, she ran up to him and kissed him on the lips, both because he stood up for her from the bullies that tried to frame her for breaking a statue, and because he promised her to build a country where they both could live happily as equals.
* ShutUpHannibal: She gives a glorious one to Hayes in episode 9 for berating Lux.
* SpannerInTheWorks: [[spoiler:The King of Vices counted on Lux to kill Rosa, which would make it easier for her to frame Lux as an assassin. Philuffy convinces Lux to hesitate, allowing Rosa to live and making it so that the King can only frame him for attempted assassination instead.]]
* SuperSenses: She has a superhuman sense of smell, which allows her to determine if antiques are the genuine article or not. She can also hear the [[spoiler:sound of horn flutes]] from very far away.
* SuperpoweredEvilSide: After the events of Volume 4, [[spoiler:she can tap into her Abyss side to increase her strength and allow her to use her Drag-Ride's Divine Raiment, at the risk of being vulnerable to control by horn flutes.]]

Lux's younger sister.
----
* ACupAngst: She doesn't have any problems with Lisha or the others and thinks Philuffy is an aberration, but she's clearly and immediately self-conscious standing next to Relie Aingram in a bikini, and covers her chest in embarrassment and annoyance. The fact that she's wearing a very childish swimsuit at the time doesn't help.
* ClingyJealousGirl: More than princess Lisesharte. While Lisha eventually becomes resigned to the fact that she's in a BattleHarem (due to knowing full well how pragmatic, political, financial, and martial pressures don't give Lux any choice in the matter, only demanding that Lux make her [[TopWife the favorite]] and that the others don't rub their affection for him in her face), Airi is completely relentless in berating him for having ''any'' girl show affection for him openly. Although she'll come down on Relie Aingram like a ton of bricks first if said affections are a result of one of her tricks, she will still come after Lux later. Heck, one chapter of the light novel had her go into an existential panic ''merely on the rumor that Lux had'' '''''one''''' ''girlfriend and was actively dating.''
* CurtainsMatchTheWindow: Like all members of her family.
* DealWithTheDevil: [[spoiler:She makes a contract with the Turkhimes Paladin, Soffice Xfer, in order to avoid being used as a hostage against Lux. She is also forced to use a Grand Force to activate the Moon Ruin, allowing Soffice to hold the kingdom hostage.]]
* IOweYouMyLife: Like Lux, she owes her very existence to Philuffy's family.
* LittleMissSnarker: While she likes her brother, she's not afraid to berate him.
* LittleSisterHeroine: When Lisha draws a sword on Lux in episode 12 and demands to know who he loves during the LoverTugOfWar, Airi officially throws her hat into the ring, to Lux's obvious chagrin.
* MissionControl: Due to her weak body, she's relegated to battlefield logistics. [[spoiler:In Volume 17, she pilots a Drake that has its functions watered down, allowing her to use its radar to support her allies without physically straining herself. Unfortunately, she's incapable of using it for self-defense. Similarly, in Volume 19, she uses Jormungandr solely for its radar.]]
* MsExposition: Explains her brother's abilities to anyone who's listening. Doesn't really help them since her brother's done dealing with them before they can react anyway.
* SatelliteCharacter: So far, she hasn’t shown any distinctive attributes aside from her interactions with Lux.
* TearsOfJoy: She wipes away a single tear and smiles with joy and pride at her brother being officially recognized as Lisha's knight in episode 12 and Lux holding Lisha's hand. This is probably the only time in the series where she ''isn't'' having a jealous fit over Lux being affectionate with a girl.
* ThisLooksLikeAJobForAquaman: She's had precisely ''one'' scene (at least in the anime) where she actively contributes to Lux's war effort. [[spoiler: She uses the abyss whistle that Lux confiscated from Velvet Barth to "overwrite" Hayes's commands on Philuffy, thus allowing Philuffy to come to aid Lux and the others in fighting Ragnarok, forcing Hayes to retreat.]]
* TragicDream: She once wanted to be a Drag-knight and her aptitude count was high, but she lacked the physical strength and stamina to pilot a Drag-Ride effectively.
* TheUnfavorite: The Emperor considers her and Lux to be failures[[spoiler:, and he has no problem using her as a hostage]].

* EtTuBrute: She takes [[spoiler:Saniya's]] betrayal pretty hard and takes it upon herself [[spoiler:to defeat her. She manages to do so in the final episode.]]

* JoustingLance: Lindworm's main weapon.
* LadyAndKnight: The Bright Lady to Lux’s White Knight.
* LightIsGood: Her name means "heavenly" in Latin, and her white and gold Drag-Ride gives her the appearance of an angel.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: [[spoiler:She revealed the Empire's corruption to Lux's grandfather Wade Roadbelt, who confronted the emperor about it. Unfortunately, the emperor then banishes Lux's side of the family.]]

An assassin for the Old Empire, who now works for Hayes.
----
* AbusiveParents: Her own father not only called her a bloodless monster but forced her into the assassin business.
* AllForNothing: She becomes the Empire's top assassin to spare her little brother, and to save their own skin, [[spoiler: the very nobles who contracted her turn over her little brother for decapitation and present his head to her before siding with the new kingdom.]] Small wonder she doesn't like the country much.
* AloofDarkHairedGirl: A cold, efficient assassin with long, flowing black hair. When she's with Lux, however, it's an [[CasualKink entirely]] [[TheTease different]] [[ShamelessFanserviceGirl story]].
* AssassinsAreAlwaysBetrayed: In a truly heartbreaking way. She is forced to become an assassin by her own father, and that's bad enough, but then she's forced into the service of the Arcadia Empire, and while she's away [[spoiler: they kill her little brother.]] [[ForTheEvulz Purely for self-promotion.]]
* BadPowersGoodPeople: Elixir is known to drive people insane, yet she ends up becoming one of Lux's allies while still using that power. Though in her case, she didn't take enough of it to drive herself insane and she received proper surgery from Hayes to use it more safely.
* BecauseYouWereNiceToMe: In her whole life, only two people have treated her kindly: her little brother and Lux himself. And for that, she loves them both.
* BestHerToBedHer: Lux wants to make her one of his queens, but she refuses because she believes she needs to devote herself to being his bodyguard. She states the only way to change her mind is if he defeats her in Drag-Ride and ground combat, in addition to making sure he never lets his guard down.
* BewareTheSillyOnes: She has plenty of funny ecchi moments before and after her HeelFaceTurn, but she still would have defeated Lux in Volume 5 if she didn't lose focus.
* CreepyChild: By her own admission, her father claimed she was "talented at assassination" since '''birth.''' Her younger brother is the only one she remembers treating her like a person, at least before meeting Lux.
* DarkActionGirl: She worked as an assassin for the Old Empire and worked with Hayes to destroy the New Empire’s capital. [[spoiler:It’s only with Lux’s help that she switches sides.]]
* DarkIsEvil: Black hair, black outfit, and the name of her Drag-Ride translates to "God of the Night Sword." [[spoiler:Subverted after her HeelFaceTurn.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: [[spoiler:After her HeelFaceTurn.]]
* DefeatMeansFriendship: [[spoiler:Or LoveInterest in her case.]]
* EasilyForgiven: [[spoiler:Lux and his haremettes are quick to forgive her after she helps them save the New Kingdom's capital.]]
* ExplosiveOverclocking: She can use <Spell Code> on herself to activate Overlimit by hacking into her Drag-ride's system.
* FlashStep: This is what makes her so dangerous as an assassin. Either on foot or in a Drag-ride, she has mastered a technique that allows her to move unnoticed just outside her target's area of perception. While Lux has learned how to counter it, at great difficulty, while using Bahamut's advanced systems, he's still no match for her on foot.
--> '''Yoruka:''' "Concentration is like breathing. No matter how carefully you focus, it will eventually slip, and that's when I strike."
* FreudianExcuse: And it's a good one. Her "employers" turned on her and broke their end of the LeonineContract they had her under [[spoiler: by killing her little brother.]]
* GodivaHair: Her hair conveniently covers her breasts in Volume 9's casual kink illustration.
* GracefulLoser: [[spoiler:Takes her defeat to Lux with surprising calm because she is in love with him.]]
* HackYourEnemy: Her <Spell Code> Divine Raiment can hack an enemy's Drag-Ride and take control of it. She can also use it on herself or her allies as a shortcut to activate Overlimit.
* HeelFaceTurn: [[spoiler:In episode 12, Yoruka destroys the core of Hayes's giant before it can fire on the New Kingdom's capital.]]
* HypercompetentSidekick: To Hayes in terms of Drag-ride skills. Despite both using Baptism, Yoruka uses her assassin skills to nearly defeat Lux despite her Drag-ride's lesser firepower while Hayes struggles against Lisha despite having a far stronger Divine Drag-ride.
* IGaveMyWord: She honors her assassin contract to the Arcadia Empire, despite the fact that it no longer exists because she promised her little brother to do so. [[spoiler: Being beaten by Lux in single combat allows her to turn on Hayes and save the Kingdom's capital.]]
* KatanasAreJustBetter: Her Sword Device is a katana [[FlamingSword that sets off flames]] when summoning her Drag-Ride. It's also sharp enough to [[spoiler:slice a Ragnarok core in half]].
* LadyAndKnight: The Black Knight to Lux’s Bright Lord. [[SubordinateExcuse No]], [[DarkIsNotEvil really]].
* LadyMacbeth: Attempts persuade Lux into joining Hayes's side by using her feminine wiles. Not only Lux doesn't fall for it, [[spoiler: ''he'' convinces ''her'' to switch sides by appealing to her better nature.]]
* LaughablyEvil: Before her HeelFaceTurn, she's one of the few antagonists to have humorous moments, such as when she invaded Lux's personal space in order to serve him and convince him to join Hayes. Unlike La Krulshe, this is due to her own personality rather than AmnesiacDissonance.
* MagicalEye: Her left purple eye received Baptism. It allows her to detect someone's presence, perceive the wavelength of the opponent's consciousness, and understand the subtleties of their heart.
* MarionetteMaster: Yato-no-kami can hijack another person's Drag-Ride, which she uses to make Lisha fire on the audience and sow discord among the kingdom.
* MirrorCharacter: From Lux. They are both the last heirs of a fallen kingdom, betrayed by people they thought they could trust. But while Lux remained a good person, Yoruka became embittered and cynical. [[spoiler:Her redemption is achieved when Lux realizes she is as much as a victim to the Arcadia Empire as he was.]]
* MoralityChain: Her own little brother filled this role. [[spoiler:Lux can also qualify.]]
* MyGreatestFailure: She noticed that Koto's vassals were untrustworthy, but didn't take the initiative to stop them, which is why she wants to kill Singlen before his schemes against Lux go too far.
* NoodleIncident: How did she wind up in prison? Either it took an army to get her in, which begs the question of why an alert and wanted posters didn't go up ''immediately'' when she was broken out. Or she went in there willingly, which begs the question of why she'd want out.
* NoSenseOfPersonalSpace: At least when Lux is concerned.
* ObliviousToLove: She believes that Lux sees her as a tool and wouldn't bat an eye if she sacrificed herself for him, not realizing that he considers her a loved one.
* ProfessionalKiller: She worked as one for the Old Empire to care for her ailing younger brother.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: As one of the few characters with a remotely Asian background, she has black hair and fair skin.
* ReformedButNotTamed: After her HeelFaceTurn, she's still used to being an assassin, to the point where [[spoiler:she secretly plots to kill Singlen for manipulating Lux]].
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Though she doesn't tell Lux, the stylized symbolic flashback indicates that she hunted down and killed, by beheading, each and every one of the traitorous nobles who sold out her kingdom to The Arcadia Empire, and thought killing her brother and presenting his head to the Emperor was a good idea
* ShipperWithAnAgenda: She ships Lux with as many girls as possible, including herself, with the stated intention of producing as many heirs as possible.
* ShowgirlSkirt: She leaves the front of her kimono's lower half-open so we can see her legs.
* SubordinateExcuse: Being a servant of the Old Empire, she recognizes Lux as her master and it's clear she has feelings for him.
* SuperMode: She can enter a state known as "Baptism", which seems to increase her concentration and speed. She almost defeats Lux with this until her own concentration is broken from talking about her past.
* TheTease: In episode 10, she sneaks up on Lux in the bathhouse and offers to wash him, even pressing her breasts against his back.
* TooKinkyToTorture: In Volume 9, she reveals very strong masochistic tendencies, to Lux's dismay. [[spoiler:When he tells her that he has to punish her (for attacking another student in order to protect him), she waits for him in a dungeon, naked except for black panties, wearing a collar with a chain binding her to the floor, wooden shackles on her wrists, and a seductive smile. Lux is so freaked out he immediately abandons any idea of punishing her.]]
* {{Tykebomb}}: By her own admission, her father saw her as good for only one thing, becoming a skilled assassin. Only her little brother saw her as a person and treated her kindly.
* TheUnfavorite: Her parents clearly favored her ill little brother over her. She doesn't resent ''him'' for it, since he always treated her kindly, without exception, even knowing what she was raised for.
* WarriorPrincess: She was originally a princess of Koto, a small island country.
* WeHaveBecomeComplacent: Defied. After Lux passes her final challenge by besting her in both Drag-Ride combat and ground combat, she occasionally attacks him to ensure he doesn't get rusty.
* WhenSheSmiles: The final episode sees her delivering a genuinely tender, non-threatening smile. [[http://i.imgur.com/DAvRIuv.jpg Just look!]]
* TheWorfEffect: [[spoiler:Despite using both Overlimit and Baptism, along with being more skilled than Lux, she loses against Singlen when the latter uses Baptism.]]
* {{Yandere}}: Played realistically and then subverted. She can't decide what she wants more, to love Lux, or kill him for rejecting the Old Empire. [[spoiler: After she's beaten, she decides to "love" him to Lisasharte's chagrin, though Yoruka is willing to share him with the other haremettes.]]
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: ''Twice''. First, her home country is conquered by the Arcadia Empire, and then the Empire falls to a coup and gets reformed into the Atismata Kingdom.
* YouRemindMeOfX: Admits Lux reminds her of her brother. [[spoiler:When Lux is about to beat her, she catches a small glimpse of her brother in Lux’s place.]]
