On the outside to everyone he appears as an all-rounded guy, good at studying, sports and other activities and outwardly friendly. However, in reality this is a facade, as he does not want people to learn about the "real" Saeki. Only the heroine discovers his "real" personality which can be quite aloof yet kind at other times. He also works at Sangosho Cafe with his grandfather and the heroine finds this out upon her first meeting with him as she needs directions for the school.
