[[caption-width-right:350:The first ultra secret spy family.]]
* BadassFamily: Being a family of spies, this was a given.
* DysfunctionalFamily: Even when being a spy doesn't factor into things, their lives and interactions with each other are very chaotic.
** Parodied in "Family Issues" when they try to emulate the problems they think normal families have, only to wind up LostInCharacter.
* GenderEqualEnsemble: Two males, two females.
* NoNameGiven: We never learn of Mr. and Mrs. X's first names, nor Mrs. X's maiden name.
* NuclearFamily: Consisting of Mr. and Mrs. X, their daughter Tuesday and son Truman. Early on in the show, they also get a puppy named Rex.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Mr. X]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_xs__theme_song_hq___episode_opening_credits___nick_animation_0_5_screenshot.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Leader, and father]]
Family patriarch and team leader, Mr. X is the typical sixties superspy, complete with a stylish black suit and extensive knowledge of hand to hand combat. Although he is a competent spy, he struggles with many everyday issues, such as remembering his name. He is also an excellent cook. In one episode, like Maxwell Smart, he had a "shoe phone" in which (like ''Series/MissionImpossible'') it blew up after delivering a message. He is voiced by Creator/PatrickWarburton.
----
* ActionDad: Leader of his family, and a skilled hand-to-hand fighter.
* BaritoneOfStrength: Is strong enough to tear a man apart with his bare hands alone, and has a deep voice to match.
* BumblingDad: He's 100% behind his kids, he's also just as clueless.
* ByTheBookCop: "Not in the manual, not gonna happen."
* CatchPhrase: "To the X-Jet!"
* HeroicBSOD: Briefly, when he learns his family had tampered with the manual, feeling they don't deserve to be spies.
* TheLeader: Just as Home Base says in the opening.
* PapaWolf: NEVER threaten his kids!
* RailEnthusiast: The secret he tries to hide from his family in "Xcitement".
* RealMenCanCook: Has a great deal of pride in his cooking ability. Even spent six months undercover as a French chef.
* SharpDressedMan: Usually sports a black suit with his clip-on laser tie.
* ShoePhone: His left shoe is this, with an answering machine message that when ended sets the shoe on fire.
* {{Wedgie}}: Truman uses Glowface's robot to give him, along with Tuesday and Mrs. X, an atomic wedgie as revenge for treating him like a kid in "Truman X: Super Villain".
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Is terrified of cockroaches.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Mrs. X]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_xs__theme_song_hq___episode_opening_credits___nick_animation_0_7_screenshot.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Combat specialist, and mother]]
Second in command, Mrs. X is fully trained in hand-to-hand combat and martial arts, but is an absolutely horrible cook. She often performs simple tasks with extreme measures (she used a death-ray device to kill a cockroach, destroying most of the kitchen and her daughter's room in the process). Despite a high capacity for violence and mayhem, Mrs. X is a devoted wife and mother, and will go out of her way to protect her family. She is an expert at tennis. She is known for administering savage beatings to Glowface (sometimes twice). Creator/WendieMalick voices Mrs. X.
----
* ActionMom: Home Base literally describes her as "Combat specialist, and mother".
* BloodKnight: She practically lives for fighting and battling.
* FieryRedhead: Has red hair, and a very volatile personality.
* GreenEyedRedhead: Has red hair and dark green eyes.
* HartmanHips: Has big thighs, which her daughter inherited from her.
* LethalChef: "Mom blew up the kitchen."
* MamaBear:
** In "Truman X: Super Villain", when it appears that Truman has been captured by Glowface, Mrs. X becomes EXTREMELY pissed and drives the ship at fast speed to Glowface's lair, terrifying Mr. X.
** Glowface invokes this in "No More Mrs. Nice X" when he puts her family in life-threatening danger to bring her back to normal. It works.
* UncoolUndies: She revealed to wear light-green granny panties when Truman gave her an atomic wedgie in "Truman X: Super Villain".
* {{Wedgie}}: Truman uses Glowface's robot to give her, along with Tuesday and Mr. X, an atomic wedgie as revenge for treating him like a kid in "Truman X: Super Villain".
* WellDoneSonGuy: As shown in "In-Law Enforcement", she doesn't get along with her parents, who are police officers.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Tuesday X]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_xs__theme_song_hq___episode_opening_credits___nick_animation_0_10_screenshot.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Team investigator, and daughter.]]
The X's teenage daughter and missions investigator. She is 16 years old. Tuesday is the most normal of the team, despite her rather extreme punk-rock garb and frequently changing hair-color. She is also the most knowledgeable of "real-world" behavior, which the other family members either misunderstand or ignore outright. She definitely takes after her mother in savagery and fighting skills, but at heart Tuesday* is a genuine teenager who wants to do other things besides spy missions with her family. She easily gets annoyed with Truman and is not good at talk. She also likes Brandon, an agent from S.N.A.F.U.. Tuesday's voice is provided by Lynsey Bartilson.
----
* ActionGirl: Takes after her mom in fighting skills.
* AffectionateGestureToTheHead: Truman gave her a noogie during their fight in "Doomates".
* BigSisterBully: Often picks on Truman just as much as vice versa. "Truman X: Super Villain" even has him watch three consecutive clips of her giving him atomic wedgies.
* BoyishShortHair: She has spiky neck-length hair in a punk-rock style.
* DatingCatwoman: Her boyfriend, Brandon, is Glowface's nephew.
* DayOfTheWeekName: Yes.
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: In "Truman X: Super Villain", when Truman gave her an atomic wedgie, she revealed to wear frilly purple panties.
* HartmanHips: Truman makes fun of her "big butt".
* InconsistentColoring: Her hair intentionally changes colors between episodes.
* OnlySaneWoman: Compared to the rest of her family.
* PickyPeopleEater: When she and her parents are zombies in "The Haunting of Home Base" she wants to eat Truman's spleen because she's apparently allergic to brains.
* TeenSuperspy: Being the teenage daughter in a spy family, this is a given.
* TemporarilyAVillain: Antagonizes Truman in "To Err Is Truman".
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: Dresses like a punk rocker and is a skilled fighter, [[GirlsLoveStuffedAnimals but has a lot of plushies]].
* {{Wedgie}}: In "Truman X: Super Villain", Truman uses Glowface's robot to give [[LaserGuidedKarma her an atomic wedgie]] as revenge for constantly giving him one.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Truman X]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_xs__theme_song_hq___episode_opening_credits___nick_animation_0_13_screenshot.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Technology expert, and son.]]
The X's 9-year-old son and technology expert. Truman is the smartest of all the X's. He is voiced by Jansen Panettiere.
----
* AnnoyingYoungerSibling: To his big sister Tuesday.
* BrattyHalfPint: Prides himself on being a little troublemaker.
* ChildProdigy: Is highly intelligent for his age and a technology whiz.
* EvilCostumeSwitch: Dresses like Glowface when he becomes "Trumanface".
* EvilLaugh: Although not a villain, he sometimes does this.
* EvilRedhead: Not evil per se, but Truman is definitely a handful. Played this trope straight, when he briefly joined S.N.A.F.U..
* {{Expy}}: Truman is a combination of [[WesternAnimation/TheSimpsons Bart Simpson]] (being the prankster son) and [[WesternAnimation/DextersLaboratory Dexter]] (being the inventor in the family).
* FieryRedhead: Has his mother's hair color, and temperament.
* GadgeteerGenius: He isn't called the technology expert in the opening for nothing.
* GreenEyedRedhead: Just like his mom.
* HeroesLoveDogs: Gets Rex on his birthday and they love each other dearly.
* TemporarilyAVillain: He was an antagonist in "To Err is Truman".
* {{Wedgie}}:
** In "Doomates", during his fight with Tuesday, the first thing she did was give him a wedgie.
** In "Truman X: Super Villain", Glowface shows Truman three consecutive clips of him getting humiliated by her as she sneaks up on him and gives him an atomic wedgie. Later in the episode, he gets back at her by using Glowface's robot to [[LaserGuidedKarma give her an atomic wedgie]], along with his mom and dad. Then, after rejoining his family, he gives Glowface a regular wedgie.
** While he and Tuesday are flying in the X-Jet with the bad guys on their tail in "X Takes a Holiday" he admits that while escaping with her, he shouldn't have stopped to give Lorenzo a wedgie.
* YouthfulFreckles: Has freckles on each cheek, fitting his role as the youngest.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Rex X]]
Truman's dog, which he got on his 9th birthday from Sasquatch. Rex was meant to kill Truman, with Sasquatch controlling Rex with his mind control roar, but Truman wouldn't fight him because he thought he would finally have the perfect birthday with him and Truman told about Rex all the good times they had. After those words, Rex broke free from the mind control and also all the other animals. Later, Rex became an honorary member for SUPERIOR. His first appearance was in "Boy's Best Fiend," and has since appeared in other episodes such as "To Err Is Truman". Vocal effects are done by Creator/DeeBradleyBaker.
----
* RhymingName: Rex X. Lampshaded by Mr. X in "Boy's Best Fiend".
* SatelliteCharacter: Being Truman's dog, he doesn't have much of a character of his own.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Home Base]]
Home Base describes itself in the title sequence of The X's as "the house they live in", but Home Base is most likely the name for the computerized brain that runs the functions of their house (neither Mr. X nor Mrs. X appear to be competent about household chores, though Mr. X can mow the grass). Home Base serves as advisor, SUPERIOR contact and mission alert for the X's, and can be contacted from the X-Jet. It also serves as the (somewhat beleaguered) voice of reason in the family. Seen from above, Home Base is shaped like an X. Creator/StephenRoot voices Home Base.
----
* ServileSnarker: Gives many dry quips to the family while he keeps himself in order.
* SmartHouse: He controls the house that the X's live in. Becomes a bit of a problem in "Three Days Of The Coin Op" when he has to go offline due to Truman messing with him, and "Missing Home" when he kicks the family out after they repeatedly act like jerks to him and forget his birthday.
* TemporarilyAVillain: Helps Tuesday try to get Truman in trouble in "To Err Is Truman".
[[/folder]]
!!Villains:
[[folder:Glowface]]
The X's arch-enemy, leader of S.N.A.F.U., and the main antagonist of the series. Glowface's head is encased in a glass globe with electrical discharges. He wears a rubber suit and gloves to contain his vast energies. His schemes to get rid of the X's include having Trudy break her leg on a coffee table and sending them coupons for family portraits. Like traditional evil villains, Glowface is megalomaniacal, arrogant, loudmouthed and delusional, but he possesses little sophistication or maturity, and believes himself to be much more of a threat than he actually is. Voiced by Creator/ChrisHardwick.
----
* AbnormalAllergy: He mentions being allergic to zucchini in "Pinheads".
* AffablyEvil: He can be rather friendly at times, and he seems to care about his butler.
* AmazingTechnicolorPopulation: Has red skin.
* BaldOfEvil: Lampshaded in "Y's Up":
-->'''Glowface''': ''(excited over the Y's showing up)'' Lorenzo, how's my hair?
-->'''Lorenzo''': You have none, sir.
-->'''Glowface''': Then fetch me some!
* BigBad: S.N.A.F.U.'s leader.
* CatchPhrase: "[[SayingSoundEffectsOutLoud Scream!]]" When he realises a beatdown or otherwise painful defeat is about to happen.
* TheCorrupter: Becomes this for Truman in "Truman X: Super Villain", though it doesn't last.
* DepravedDwarf[=/=]TheNapoleon: Oh yeah. "Wee House" even had him take offense when he hears about Truman building himself a miniature house to feel taller.
-->'''Glowface''': I've battled the tyranny of height my entire life, and now Truman X has struck a blow for all of the vertically-challenged!
* DemotedToExtra: Only has a minor role in "To Err Is Truman", and doesn't interact with the X's much, only getting attacked by Truman at the end.
* EvenBadMenLoveTheirMamas: In "No More Mrs Nice X", Glowface expresses fear at the idea of Mrs X calling his mom to tell on him.
* EvilGenius: Considers himself this, but his plans are often poorly thought out.
* EvilLaugh: Loves doing this and hates when it gets interrupted.
* EvilIsHammy: Is very loud and dramatic.
* EvilUncle: Is this to Brandon.
* {{Expy}}: Of Dr. Evil from Film/AustinPowers.
* GoofyPrintUnderwear: Is revealed to wear red undies with G's and F's on them when Truman gives him a wedgie in "Truman X: Super Villain".
* HarmlessVillain: He's not as big a threat as he thinks he is.
* HiddenDepths: He actually has a few things in common with Mr. X: collecting Captain Pepe bobbleheads and playing with model trains.
** In "The Spy Who Liked Me", Glowface is revealed to like boy bands.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: Is a terrible singer, as shown when he performs his one-man show "High Seas Hijinks".
* InformedJudaism: Received his necktie as a Bar Mitzvah present from his aunt Gladys.[[note]]It's implied that he's probably Reform or at least Conservative, if not having abandoned Judaism entirely, since he eats bacon on his pizza in "The Haunting of Home Base".[[/note]]
* LaughablyEvil: Oh, so very much.
* ManChild: He is very immature and childish.
-->'''Brandon''': ''(after Glowface mocks him for not wanting to fight Tuesday)'' What are you, 12?
* MeaningfulName: He emits electrical discharges from his head, which is encased inside a glass globe.
* NoNameGiven: It's never revealed what name he had before becoming "Glowface".
* PetTheDog: He's actually very generous when handing out candy to trick-or-treaters, even having a supply of sugar-free goods in case anyone is diabetic.
** He also seems to have a soft spot for babies, as shown when he bonds with the baby boy the X's sit for in "Live and Let Diaper".
* PsychoElectro: Can emit electricity from his body.
* RedAndBlackAndEvilAllOver: Has this motif.
* RailEnthusiast: Enjoys playing with electric trains, just like Mr. X.
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Lorenzo's blue (appropriately enough, Glowface has red skin).
* SayingSoundEffectsOutLoud: Has a habit of doing this, including his catchphrase above.
* ScaryTeeth: His teeth are uneven, and half of them are yellow. Of course, according to a secret he confessed under the influence of Truman's Truth Ray, he never flosses, so it's justified.
* SharpDressedMan: Typically wears a business suit with a red necktie, which, unlike Mr. X's tie, is not a clip-on.
* {{Wedgie}}: Gets one from Truman after the latter betrays him in "Truman X: Super Villain".
* YellowEyesOfSneakiness: Has bright yellow eyes.
* YouthfulFreckles: He had these in the flashback of himself as a kid in "Breaking Camp".
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Lorenzo Suave]]
Glowface's butler and arguably the real brains behind S.N.A.F.U. to try and keep the evil organization focused on actual world domination as opposed to Glowface's petty schemes and glamour projects. Voiced by Creator/TomKane.
----
* BattleButler: When he actually does get to fight in the field, Lorenzo proves himself much more dangerous than Glowface.
-->'''Tuesday''': Whoa. He ''is'' good.
* TheDragon: Is Glowface's second-in-commmand.
* EvilBrit: Has a notable British accent.
* EvilLaugh: Has done this a few times, the best examples being in "You Only Sneeze Twice".
* EvilRedhead: Has short orange hair with DevilishHairHorns.
* EvilSoundsDeep: Has a much deeper voice when compared to Glowface, who is much higher-pitched.
* EyepatchOfPower: Has an eyepatch where his left eye was, and is a formidable fighter.
* FashionableEvil: Over the course of the show, he has sported a dapper suit that comes in more than a dozen different color schemes.
* GadgeteerGenius: Is just as capable of building machines as Glowface is.
** "You Only Sneeze Twice" has him modify Glowface's animation ray (which the latter planned to use to bring Big Ben and the Eiffel Tower to life so he could make them wrestle) so it could reverse Earth's gravity, though in the end the ray gets destroyed and neither villain uses it for his respective goal.
** "Accidental Hero" has Glowface and Lorenzo use two of the latter's inventions- a Tornado Generator and an Arachnobot, though the former claims them as his own.
* GoodHairEvilHair: He's got a mustache and a goatee.
* GoodScarsEvilScars: Has a scar on his right cheek.
* HiddenDepths: He once told Tuesday that he takes a pottery class on Wednesday nights in "You Only Sneeze Twice".
** He's also revealed to be a skilled beatboxer in Glowface's rap video at the end of "Wealth vs. Stealth".
* HighClassGlass: Sports a monocle.
* HypercompetentSidekick: As opposed to his boss, Lorenzo actually wants to attempt legitimate villainy as opposed to petty childish attacks on the X's.
-->'''Lorenzo''': ''(to Glowface, who was obsessed with the "Egg-Salads")'' Perhaps we could focus on world domination for a moment?
* TheJeeves: Is treated as this by Glowface but he's arguably the actual person in charge.
* LeanAndMean: He's quite thin and tall, especially compared to his vertically-challenged boss.
* MeaningfulName: Lorenzo ''Suave'' is refined and stylishly dressed.
* RedOniBlueOni: The blue to Glowface's red.
* ReverseArmFold: Frequently does this.
* SinisterSchnoz: Has a long, pointy nose.
* StrongerThanTheyLook: He's a beanpole, but still strong enough to wield a large wrench to [[ItMakesSenseInContext destroy a doomsday device he himself modified]].
* {{Wedgie}}: Gets one offscreen from Truman in "X Takes a Holiday", and is still uncomfortable from it as he and Glowface chase after the escaping kids.
[[/folder]]
[[folder:Sasquatch]]
Arguably the strongest member of S.N.A.F.U.. His goal is to have animals reinstated as the rulers of the planet. Voiced by Wrestling/RandySavage.
----
* BigfootSasquatchAndYeti: Explicitly called Sasquatch.
* CatchPhrase: "Sasquatch is the mightiest of all!"
* CompellingVoice: Sasquatch the ability to control animals with a hypnotic roar.
* EvilIsBigger: Is the largest member of S.N.A.F.U. and thus bigger than the X's.
* NoIndoorVoice: Sasquatch talks like a professional wrestler all the time, which should come as no surprise considering Sasquatch's voice actor.
* PetTheDog: He'll happily hand out beef jerky to trick-or-treaters on Halloween.
* RedEyesTakeWarning: What happens to animals under Sasquatch’s hypnosis.
* ScaryTeeth: Has a mouthful of fangs.
* TechnicolorEyes: Has black sclerae and yellow irises.

* NoNameGiven: Their given names are never revealed.
