Basically the Spec Ops troops of Qin. Medium-sized units led by promising young commanders, that are given more autonomy than other units of their size. They are being groomed by the top brass to become Qin's next generation of generals.

!!In General

* BadassArmy: These units seriously punch above their weight class. Enemy commanders best pay extra attention to them.
* FriendlyRivalry: Invoked by the military leadership because they notice the three work extra hard when they're trying to one-up each other.

!!Fei Xin Unit
!!!Japanese Pronunciation: Hi Shin Unit

See their own page for details.

!!Yu Feng Unit
!!!Japanese Pronunciation: Gyoku Hou Unit

A 10000-man army under the command of Wang Ben.

* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Has a low opinion of the Fei Xin, which is mostly staffed by lowborns.
* BadassArmy: As with the other 2 Independent Units, the Yu Feng consists entirely of elite soldiers. The Yu Feng specializes in the strength of their cavalry, which is already considered among the best in Qin despite being only a 5000-man unit. Later becomes a proper army with Wang Ben's promotion to General.

!!General Wang Ben
!!!Japanese Pronunciation: Ou Hon
->Voiced by: Creator/YoshimasaHosoya (Japanese), Preston Yeung (English, Season 03 onwards)

The commander of the Yu Feng unit and rival to Xin, Wang Ben is the son of Wang Jian and the heir of the esteemed Wang military family. Wang Ben is an all-rounder commander, having combat and strategic abilities ahead of most generals.

->Stats
----
* TheAce: Starts off as this. Xin is, naturally, annoyed.
* ArrogantKungFuGuy: Ye gods, is he ever. Kingdom has no shortage of these, but Wang Ben breathes this trope.
* BrokenAce: He's incredibly skilled, but also nearly unbearable as a person. As we begin to learn who he truly is, his Aceness shows more and more cracks.
* FreudianTrio: He fits the TheSpock archetype, being cold, unfriendly and generally ruthless. Guess who's the one he likes the least in the trio.
* GeniusBruiser: He is this compared to Xin and Meng Tian. His martial skill is easily a match for Xin while his wits and tactical acumen is about equal to Meng Tian.
* HiddenDepths: Meng Tian implies that deep within, Wang Ben also dreams of being a Great General and is very passionate about it, much like Xin.
* HistoricalDomainCharacter: As with almost everyone else.
* JerkAss: Has yet to warm up to Xin, or to anyone else. Even his friendship with Meng Tian isn't of the warmest kind. Having Wang Jian as a father will do that to you.
* PerpetualFrowner: Has only two expressions so far: Frown and slightly deeper frown.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Believes he and his unit is better than the Fei Xin Force because of his nobility.
* TheRival: The most overt one to Xin.
* StockShonenRival: Let's see, he's a PrivilegedRival, JerkassToOne while eventually respects Xin in secret, AloofAlly, and always just one step ahead Xin with promotions.
* TheStoic: Not a big talker, and when he does speak he prefers making it as curt as possible. Like father, like son.
* VitriolicBestBuds: His relationship with Xin and Meng Tian to a lesser extent. He'd rather die than admit they were his friends, but in the end Wang Ben is more than willing to put his trust in them than what you'd expect.

!!Pan Yang
!!!Japanese Pronunciation: Ban You

Wang Ben's retainer and second in command.
----
* GrumpyOldMan: In contrast to Meng Tian's jollier adjutant, Hu Jian.
* HeroicSacrifice: He would rather be killed rather than have Wang Ben circle back to rescue him. Fortunately, he's saved by Xin.
* ParentalSubstitute: He's the one who acts as Wang Ben's father most of the time.
* ProudWarriorRaceGuy: Shares Wang Ben's disdain for the upstart Fei Xin unit.

!!Huan Chang
!!!Japanese Pronunciation: Kan Jou

A commander from Wang Jian's own army, Huan Chang and his 1000 personal soldiers are sent by the young lord's father to assist and monitor Wang Ben's development. An highly capable commander, he becomes one of Wang Ben's lieutenants and allows the Yu Feng's strength to blossom far beyond the strength of a unit their size.
----
* AlmightyJanitor: His strength and leadership abilities clearly surpass that of a mere 1000-man commander. Arguably, he’s on the same level as average generals.
* BeleagueredAssistant: Frequently annoyed by Wang Ben's impulsive and maverick tendencies, forcing him to plan around them or create contingencies in case they fail.
* NumberTwo: While Pan Yang is technically still the second in command, Huan Chang, being much more capable of keeping up with Wang Ben, is generally given more important and difficult tasks
* TheReliableOne: Borders on HypercompetentSidekick in the Zhuyong Campaign—while Wang Ben is certainly a greater genius, his impulsiveness and desperation to prove himself get him repeatedly almost killed against Earl Zi, with only Huan Chang's decision making and forward planning allowing them to survive. This is downplayed in the Ye invasion due to Wang Ben maturing.

!!Le Hua Unit
!!!Japanese Pronunciation: Gaku Ka Unit

A 10000-man army under the command of Meng Tian.

!!General Meng Tian
!!!Japanese Pronunciation: Mou Ten
->Voiced by: Creator/HirofumiNojima (Japanese), Creator/HowardWang (English, Season 03 onwards)

The commander of the Le Hua Unit, who belongs to the same generation as Xin. Unlike Wang Ben, Meng Tian quickly takes a liking to Xin and befriends him. Meng Tian is the son of Meng Wu and grandson of Meng Ao, both famous generals. Meng Tian's gifts lie in grand strategy, which even as a 1000-Man Commander had surpassed that of an average general.

->Stats: Strength |87|, Leadership |85|, Knowledge |90|
->Stats
----
* AlmightyJanitor: As with Xin and Wang Ben, he might be a 5000-Man Commander, but his abilities surpass that of most generals. As early as the battle of Shanyang he manages to outwit Lun Hu, one of Lian Po's legendary Heavenly Kings (even if his gambit against him ultimately fails). By Ye, he effortlessly toys with Ji Hui and Ma Cheng, and even manages to counter Li Mu's stratagems to a certain extent. Later becomes a General in his own right alongside them after the conquest of Ye.
* BrilliantButLazy: Whenever he actually puts up the effort, he becomes a ferocious fighter and brilliant commander. Sadly, this doesn't happen too often.
* TheChessmaster: Is well capable of being this if the situation presents itself, though with his rank, he is more often a deadly and adaptable rook.
* FireForgedFriends: Becomes one of Xin's most reliable companions after the grueling Battle of Shanyang.
* FieldPromotion: spoiler:Temporarily promoted to General for saving the Zhao invasion army's left flank from collapsing after the death of their leader. Is now in charge of said flank and by all accounts is doing a great job. After the battle of Zhuhai Plains, he gets fully promoted to General.
* FreudianTrio: He plays the TheKirk role, being a mediator between the hot-headed Xin and cold Wang Ben.
* HistoricalDomainCharacter: Like nearly everyone else in the story.
* LetsGetDangerous: It takes a lot of effort to get him serious but once he does, it usually ends with plenty of asskicking as the readers are reminded that Meng Tian is a warfare prodigy who came from the same family as Meng Wu. A threat to his family is usually the quickest way to achieve this.
* LikeFatherUnlikeSon: His father is a perpetually frowning mountain of muscle who prefers barreling straight to the enemy and personally crush them to pulps if at all possible. Meng Tian is a foppish perpetually smiling pretty boy who prefers using tactics than brute force. Lampshaded by Xin who was very surprised the first time he heard about their relationship.
* MasterSwordsman: Prefers a quick sword over a spear or a glaive.
* NiceGuy: One of the nicest guys in the series, even. Without his intervention, Xin would've probably been executed after attacking a rowdy 1000-Man Commander.
* OhCrap: Has this horrified, if muted, reaction to being pushed into
* PerpetualSmiler: Almost always upbeat and friendly. There are exceptions, like
* TheRival: Xin, Meng Tian, and Wang Ben started as a trio of new commanders and have the same goal, but Meng Tian is the least arrogant about it out of the three and he and Xin have a friendly chat whenever they get a chance.
* ScrewTheRulesIHaveConnections: He is the son of Meng Wu and grandson of Meng Ao, which unlike Wang Ben, he has no qualms about abusing it. Fortunately, he only does so for just causes, such as bailing Xin out after he is jailed for attacking a 1000-Man Commander who was committing war atrocities as a last resort.
* SpannerInTheWorks: His desire to protect his grandfather in the Shanyang invasion causes him to gather the 3 independent units to take on Lun Hu outside of official orders, which ultimately proves crucial in Qin's victory.
* TheStrategist: Of Qin’s new generation, he is the most inclined towards grand strategy, even drawing comparison with the likes of Wang Jian and Li Mu.
* WeakButSkilled: Has less strength relative to the other two, but his leadership ability is already that of a General's.

!!Hu Jian
!!!Japanese Pronunciation: Ko Zen

Meng Tian's adjutant.
----
* CoolOldGuy
* [[spoiler: DyingMomentOfAwesome: Though delirious with injury and blood loss, he manages to sneak behind and actually stab Pang Nuan in a way that makes the Wushen retreat...but not before whirling on the man and killing him. Hu Jian accepts his fate with a calm smile as he thinks of his past with Meng Tian.]]
* LikeASonToMe: Raised Meng Tian since he was a baby more or less by himself. Treats him like his rowdy and flaky grandson, while Meng Tian considers him a sort of overbearing grandfather. There's plenty of affection between the two, with Hu Jian crying with joy whenever Meng Tian makes a considerable accomplishment and Meng Tian saying Zen will be the first to hold his newborn children when the time comes.

!!Lu Xian
!!!Japanese Pronunciation: Riku Sen

A young lieutenant under Meng Tian.
----
