-> '''Rumor:''' ''Resurrected from the ashes, what exactly is he searching for?''

->'''Voiced by:''' Su Xin (Chinese)
----
* AmbiguouslyHuman: It is unclear if he survived the fire, and only became a hunter because he broke the rules in a past game, or if he died in the fire and was later resurrected as an undead being. The relations system and his 2021 letter confirm that he did indeed survive the fire.
* AmnesiacResonance: [[spoiler: The author of his 2021 letter reveals that, after surviving the fire, Leo apparently lost a majority of his memories. However, every December 21, he would become "unusually exuberant." While it was technically the day Leo set the arms factory on fire, it is also the birthday of his beloved daughter, Lisa.]]
* CoveredInScars: A physical reminder of him surviving the fire that he set in the Arms Factory.
* DrowningMySorrows: Began to drink frequently after being tricked into debt by the man who seduced his wife.
* DotingParent: He was and is extremely caring to his daughter, no matter what he has become.
* EnemySummoner: Can summon minions in the form of a hellish version of himself or a pair of angry puppets.
* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Still cares about his daughter after becoming a Hunter.
* FaceHeelTurn: Was a pretty sweet guy in life, and supposedly joined the game as a Survivor, before his "punishment".
* FateWorseThanDeath: After being tricked into debt by a trusted friend, who proceeded to steal his possessions and run off with his wife, and sending his beloved daughter to an orphanage, Leo seemingly tried to take his own life by burning down the arms factory he had been tricked into buying with him inside of it. [[FromBadToWorse Sadly, things only got worse from there.]] [[spoiler: Left physically and mentally scarred from his near-death experience, Leo was later captured and subjected to a number of daily experiments, that are said to have killed ''eighty-five percent'' of the other test subjects, for ten years straight. Months later, through as of yet unknown circumstances, Leo becomes a Hunter and is presumably assigned to hunt his beloved daughter.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Freddy Riley/The Lawyer. Both of them were married to Martha Remington at one point and played a significant role in Emma Woods'/The Gardener's life. However, while Leo was a kind and caring father to Emma and [[EvenEvilHasLovedOnes said love of his daughter is one of his redeeming qualities as a Hunter]], Freddy is a Survivor who is lacking in morals and is responsible for many of the hardships she faced in her life. In addition, Leo has a muscular build while Freddy is [[GeekPhysique skinny]].
* GentleGiant: Before he became a hunter. He still shows signs of being one when he [[spoiler: spares Emma and escape his programming as a hunter]].
* GoodParents: Was and still is a kind and caring father to his daughter.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: His default weapon is a stuffed shark.
* ItIsDehumanising: [[spoiler: He is referred to as an it by a researcher, seemingly working in the Sacred Heart Hospital, in his 2021 letter. To add to the dehumanisation, the letter ends with the researcher deciding to forgo from using Leo's given test subject name, "Cinder," and switch to referring to him by his subject number.]]
* MadeOfIron: [[spoiler: Said to have survived an experiment with an 85% chance of death with no problems, even before that he survived his suicide attempt where he basically burned himself alive]].
* ManualLeaderAIParty: His unique ability "Awaken" allows Leo to create A.I controlled hellish clones of himself or wake up his puppets so they chase survivors.
* MoralityPet: His daughter Lisa/Emma Woods is this to him.
* NiceGuy: Was said to be this prior to becoming a Hunter.
* TextileWorkIsFeminine: {{Averted|Trope}}. Leo is the most traditionally masculine hunter among the playable guys and his main talent is making leather crafts. His hunting items such as the shark mace and living puppets are mentioned as being his toy creations for Lisa. This is an important point of his character, as it is only when he abandons textile work to become a gunsmith that his life begins to go wrong.
* TragicVillain: Swindled into poverty by someone be considered a friend, had his family torn apart and burned himself to death in his own factory.
* UnwittingTestSubject: [[spoiler: His 2021 letter reveals that, shortly after burning down the arms factory, Leo was found and captured by an unspecified individual. Said individual would go on to subject Leo to daily experiments for, at least, ''ten years.'']]
* WeUsedToBeFriends: Was close enough to Freddy Riley that he trusted the latter with providing him with financial advice. Riley chose to repay that trust by tricking Leo into debt and running off with his wife. Following his transformation into a Hunter, Leo is now obsessed with taking revenge on Riley.
* YouAreNumberSix: His 2021 letter reveals that, [[spoiler: during his time being experimented on in the Sacred Heart Hospital,]] he was given [[spoiler: the subject number, 1-12-22-13.]]

[[caption-width-right:500:[[labelnote:Click to see Joker without his mask]]https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20240420_144901.png[[/labelnote]]]]
-> '''Rumor:''' ''The circus has two types of clowns, the smiling clown who brings joy and the crying clown who drowns in sadness. Joker was tired of his role, so he gave himself a perpetual smiley face.''

For tropes pertained to his Survivor identity switch, see Weeping Clown.

[[spoiler: Inclination: ''A loose cannon on the verge of collapse.'']]
->'''Voiced by:''' Li Yuantao (Chinese, formerly)
----
* AllLoveIsUnrequited: Had romantic feelings for a female acrobat/animal trainer by the name of Natalie (Margaretha Zelle) who appeared to be happily married to Sergi, the circus’ smiling clown, and who is said to have vanished from the circus one day, without a hint of a goodbye, much to Joker’s dismay.
** However, the Weeping Clown's Background Story trailer seems to imply that Joker's feelings for her may not have been as unrequited as they initially seemed. This is assuming that Joker isn't an UnreliableNarrator.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: Like every other character connected to Hullaballoo Circus. Nearly every single hunter in the game appears to be a victim of circumstance, and Joker is shown to have noble qualities in his deductions (wanting to stop the abuse Natalie was suffering at the hands of either the circus owner or her husband). It is possible that his constant humiliation, dwindling fame and later facial scarring caused him to go mad and slaughter his former coworkers and anyone else who visited Moon River Park at the night of the tragedy. At the same time it is also possible that he had nothing to do with the Moon River Tragedy, and was actually transformed into a hunter for the purpose of giving the true murderer (and possibly also Mike) a karmic punishment.
** One of his Deduction Star Event lines only make things more ominous, given that they appear to be his thoughts on the Moon River Tragedy. If so, are these lines a confession that he was responsible, or merely a sign that, although he was not involved and/or personally responsible, he was happy with what happened?
--> '''Joker:''' The surrounding laughter, the released torch, and the burning rooftop. I was instantly relieved when as soon as that place went up in flames.
* AmbiguousSituation: Both Mike and Margaretha's 2021 Character Day letters imply that he was present in the manor prior to the beginning of the group's game. Does this confirm that, like Leo, he was once a Survivor that later became a Hunter? Or is it meant to imply that certain Hunters are allowed to converse with Survivors before the games officially begin?
** Following the release of the "Weeping Clown" Survivor, the former interpretation turned out to be the case.
* ArtificialLimbs: Replaced his lost legs with a wooden stick.
* CareerEndingInjury: After his face was disfigured by acid, the injuries were stated to be so bad that he could no longer work as the circus' Crying Clown.
* CheshireCatGrin: Always smiling in a sadistic manner, like what his name suggests.
* EvilRedhead: Is a Hunter, a mass murderer and has red hair.
* {{Expy}}: Allegedly based on Javier, the protagonist of the 2010 Spanish film ''Film/TheLastCircus'', being a former crying clown whose face is disfigured and who eventually becomes a psychotic murderer. The comparisons don't end there. In Joker's deductions, it is shown that he fell in love with a female member of the circus married to a smiling clown with a suspiciously similar name to the smiling clown from the film.
* FacialHorror: Never seen in-game, though. His face was badly burnt as a result of an apparent accident involving Mike Morton, to the point that it is said that it looked like his skin had corroded. The injuries were so bad that they led to him losing his job as a crying clown.
* HandicappedBadass: He has a prosthetic right leg and his face was apparently badly burnt by fire and/or acid. Doesn’t do anything to stop him from being a deadly hunter.
* IHatePastMe: Heavily implied.
* HeadSwap: He has a B-tier skin that transforms him into Zheng Kaisi’s “Super Clown” form from the movie ''[[https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Animal_World_(film) Animal World]]''.
* KillAndReplace: His 2021 Character Day letter implies that, on top of cutting off Sergi's face and wearing it as his own, he also stole Sergi's identity, either to disguise his true identity at the manor or to effectively ''become'' the smiling clown in every possible way.
* LaughingMad: Coupled with sobbing in his lobby.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: Wears a mask, one of which possesses a sadistic grin, and is a deadly hunter in a game of life and death.
* MonsterClown: Many of his costumes.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: Serves as the mean to [[spoiler:Murro and Violetta's]] nice and [[spoiler:Margaretha and Mike's]] in-between during [[spoiler:the preparation stages of Game 8.]]
* SadClown: His former role in the circus. He has since come to embrace a different role, however.
* WolverineClaws: Wears a clawed glove on his right hand.
* YouAreNumberSix: He is referred to by his [[spoiler: given serial number, 8-0-3]] in his [[spoiler: Experiment File]] and corresponding [[spoiler: Experiment Files]] on survivors and hunters that participated in the same game as him.

-> '''Rumor:''' ''Humming a tune with his arms crossed, the ripper has his own unique standards for his "guests."''

[[spoiler: Inclination: ''An unfettered innate criminal?'']]
-> '''Stage Cast:'''Narumatsu Yoshihiko
-> '''Voiced by:''' Li Yuantao (Chinese, formerly), Creator/MakotoFurukawa (Japanese), Michael Kohl (English)
----
* AdaptationalBadass: The real life Jack the Ripper, while still a brutal SerialKiller, was still a human being (therefore having human limitations) and could not turn invisible.
* AmbiguousSituation: Just what exactly is the Ripper? Is it a SplitPersonality, or is it the result of some form of DemonicPossession?
** Keigan, interviewed in Jack's 2021 Character Day letter, recalls that Jack spoke in a manner akin to a song heard in London about White Sand Street. Is this just the clerk jumping to conclusions? Is it meant to imply that Jack heard a song inspired by the tragedies that occurred in White Sand Street, and merely took a liking to it? Or is it a sign that he may possess a much more closer connection to White Sand Street than previously thought?
* AnkleDrag: How he transports Survivors to rocket chairs when equipped with the Soul Devourer accessory.
* TheBlank: His face lacks any features, besides sunken eye sockets and a pronounced nose. He usually covers it with a mask.
* BridalCarry: He can do this with incapacitated Survivors if he is equipped with the Rose Cane or Blue Rose Cane accessories.
* DissonantSerenity: Likes to hum and sing during games.
* FauxAffablyEvil: A polite gentleman who also just so happens to be AxCrazy.
* GollumMadeMeDoIt: His deductions imply that “The Ripper” is the violent and malevolent SplitPersonality of a painter.
* HeadSwap:
** He has a S-tier skin that transforms him into Isaac “Zac” Foster from ''VideoGame/AngelsOfDeath''.
** He has two A-level skins that transform him into Film/EdwardScissorhands’ protagonist of the same name.
** He hás an A-tier skins that transforms him into Sonju from ''Manga/ThePromisedNeverland''.
* HistoricalDomainCharacter: Take one guess who he’s based on.
** His true identity is implied to be Walter Sickert, an eccentric painter with a habit of designing ghoulish work, who is believed by some to have been Jack the Ripper, or possibly an accomplice to their murders.
* LeanAndMean: Thinner than the other initial hunters and far more sadistic.
* MalevolentMaskedMan: Always wears a white, blank mask to cover his also blank face in his default appearance. His other skins often stylize it, but some of them do take the mask off.
* {{Sadist}}: Enjoys seeing his victims suffer and shiver in fear.
* SerialKiller: A fictionalised version of the famous Ripper.
* SevenHeavenlyVirtues: His "Centipede" costume from Season 22 Essence 3 represents the virtue of Temperance, contrasting Bonbon's "Court 6 Commissioner" costume from Season 13 Essence 2, which represents the [[SevenDeadlySins sin of Gluttony]].
* SignificantReferenceDate: His Character Day is on August 7th, which was when Martha Tabram (a woman who might have been the real life Jack the Ripper's first victim) was murdered in 1888.
* VisibleInvisibility: He goes "invisible," but still emits a red light and leaves a blur of motion around himself.
* WolverineClaws: What is best to describe his left hand.
* YouAreNumberSix: He is referred to by his [[spoiler: given serial number, 2-0-2]] in his [[spoiler: Experiment File]] and corresponding [[spoiler: Experiment Files]] on survivors and hunters that participated in the same game as him.

[[folder:Bane Perez - The Gamekeeper]]
!!Bane Perez - The Gamekeeper
[[quoteright:500:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20240420_150544.png]]
-> '''Rumor:''' ''Bane was once a warmhearted gamekeeper who was lenient with poachers. However, he wasn't repaid for his kindness. Now, Bane shows no mercy to trespassers.''
Bane Perez was in charge of the forest farm and patrol cabin at Oletus Manor. In his spare time he raised a black-nosed moose like a child. However, accidents always happen, and a new hunting season was coming. Bane was wondering how he could hide the black-nosed moose to ensure its safety, but he was too late. A team of fully armed poachers had already arrived.

The gunshots rang through the forest. When Bane arrived, he saw that the black-nosed moose had fallen to the ground. He recognized a familiar face from the poacher's team. It was a boy that he had rescued a few years prior. However, when Bane pleaded with him, they cruelly wanted to turn him into a Minotaur. They cut off his tongue and put the head of the black-nose moose on him. They locked him up with a steel-jaw leghold trap and began a massacre in the forest.

After the poachers had left, the dogs dragged Bane back to the manor, where he somehow recovered. No one thought that his humiliation would turn Bane into a demon. He was transformed into a Minotaur, and the mountain forest became his maze. Since that day, Bane shows no mercy to anyone who sets foot on his land.
->'''Voiced by:''' Su Xin (Chinese)
----
* AnimalLover: Bane loves animals and they seem to love him back, with many official artworks having random forest animals approach the intimidating Gamekeeper without much trouble. Humans seem to be the exception.
* AnimalMotifs: Deers. If it isn't obvious from the large deer head he wears.
* BadassNormal: Bane has no supernatural powers or advanced technology like his fellow hunters, apparently just being a strong, well-equipped human being and as [[spoiler: Naib and William]] find out the hard way that doesn't make him any less dangerous.
* BearTrap: His passive ability allows Bane to place multiple bear traps around the map that do not harm survivors but temporarily immobilize them.
* BeastMan: {{Subverted|Trope}} and {{Exploited}}. At first sight Bane could easily be mistaken for a deer man, or a minotaur, but he is actually just an ordinary guy wearing a costume. Bane exploited this trope heavily, as he created the legend of the minotaur who protects his forest, and mercilessly destroys any invaders.
* BetterWithNonHumanCompany: As mentioned above, Bane loves animals and even forest spirits seem to be friendly towards him. On the other hand, most humans in the Gamekeeper's presence are unlikely to have a pleasant experience.
* BoisterousBruiser: Make no mistake, Bane has lost the ability to speak but he is still an extremely loud man, he loves to laugh evilly and even his emotes are quite dramatic, he also not only can but will destroy you if given the chance.
* TheBrute: Bane is easily the physically strongest Manor worker, using no technology, magic or powers of any kind, and only relying on his Brute strength to immobilize and eliminate survivors.
* CompanionCube: Bane's unique pet, Possessed Deadwood, started out as an inanimate companion that Bane created out of loneliness. Somehow though it came to life after a spirit possessed it.
* CynicismCatalyst: His betrayal and physical disfigurement at the hands of a boy he had once shown kindness mixed with the death of his "son" (a deer he raised since he was a baby) transformed him into a violent man who spares no one he considers a trespasser or a rule breaker.
* EtTuBrute?: He once chose to show mercy to a boy who had snuck into the forest, instead of delivering him to the authorities. Said boy chose to repay him for his kindness by helping a group of hunters murder and disfigure Bane.
* FaceHeelTurn: After his kindness toward a boy was betrayed and he was left injured, he lost all compassion.
* TheFaceless: Bane is the only hunter whose real face has never been revealed, neither in cosmetics, flashbacks or promotional art. Even skins where he is wearing another type of mask, the deer head will still be obscuring the view of his face.
* ImprobableWeaponUser: His default weapon is a purple fish-shaped hook.
* ForestRanger: Both in the literal and fantasy sense. Bane is the guardian of the Darkwoods, the forests near the Manor and map of the final game, uses a bow, is friends with all living beings and communicates with forest spirits. This is exaggerated in his "Forest Guardian" skin which is literally green and made to look like a {{Treant|s}}. This costume can be found on the walls of Darkwoods.
* GreenMeansNatural: His "Forest Guardian" skin is green and the guardian of a EnchantedForest.
* HandicappedBadass: Bane is mute and has a lame leg, he also describes himself as the strongest, and he's probably not wrong.
* HornsOfVillainy: Bane is a worker at the Manor, has been described as a brutal executioner, and also wears a deer's head to hide his true identity.
* PetTheDog: A literal {{Implied|Trope}} example. On the map where he lives, the Darkwoods, several guard dogs can be seen in cages, they are hostile to everyone except Bane, as a sign that he treats his dogs well.
* MeaningfulName: His name means "glorious defender". Fitting, considering his title and role prior to becoming a hunter.
* NiceGuy: In his backstory he was described as being quite friendly and kind, and even though he was strong he was never anything but kind even to the invaders. [[TookALevelInJerkass In the present day, he is definitely not this trope.]]
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: He never actually punished people who trespassed on the manor's land, letting them leave and showing mercy, this was repaid by being mutilated and left for dead by one of the invaders, a young boy.
* ScarilyCompetentTracker: Downplayed. His kit is based on locating survivors he previously injured with his grappling hook or traps.. Every survivor pulled by Bane's hook has their location revealed to him twice every 60 seconds in case they escape.
* TheSpeechless: During the Manor massacre, Bane had his tongue ripped out and was declared unable to communicate verbally because of this.
* StoutStrength: Tied with [[MonsterClown Joker on his hunter form]] and [[TheBigGuy Leo]] he is physically the largest hunter by body mass, and unlike most hunters he only uses basic equipment and his weight during the matches.
* TragicKeepsake: The "Golden Horn" accessory, said to be the grafted from what remained of Black Nose.
* TragicVillain: Despite showing kindness to a boy who had broken the law by breaking into the forest, he was later betrayed by the same boy, mutilated and left to die. He also had to watch his son die and had the carcass sewn onto his body, Burke of all people seems horrified at the extent of what happened to Bane.
* VillainousFriendship: According to his 2020 Character Day letter, he was friends, or at least on (potentially one-sided) friendly terms, with Burke prior to both of their transformation into hunters. His 2021 Character Day letter implies that the two were still on friendly terms following Bane's transformation into a Hunter, being probably the only human Bane does not distrust.
* YouWillNotEvadeMe: Carries a grappling hook with which he can pull survivors toward him. With more presence the hook itself deals damage.

[[quoteright:500:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20240420_151058_0.png]]
-> '''Rumor:''' ''The curtain will never close on excellent performers. Miss Violetta's latest performance, Wonder Spider, is now showing! Of course, we strongly advise against watching it up close.''

[[spoiler: Inclination: ''A "tool" deceived by hope.'']]
-> '''Voiced by:''' Wu Xiangtong (Chinese)
----
* AbandonTheDisabled: Was found in a basket left under a seat during a performance at a travelling show.
* ArtificialLimbs: What she grafted onto herself in an attempt to become a Human-Spider.
* AllWebbedUp: Can wrap Survivors in cocoons.
* AllLovingHero: [[spoiler: The person who writes her third letter thinks of her as this, describing her behavior as "blind kindness", It is unknown if this also applies to her hunter form]].
* AmbiguousSituation: [[spoiler: Weeping Clown's]] Worn Clothes, are covered in cobwebs. Turns out [[spoiler: Joker]] was the teammate who tried to kill her, making a coincidence unlikely. Would Violetta have survived and [[spoiler: [[TheDogBitesBack taken revenge on Joker]]?]] [[DamselOutOfDistress Would she have retaliated against the aggression in some way]]? Or was this her way of being [[DefiantToTheEnd defiant even in death]]? Maybe we'll never know.
* BadassAdorable: Violetta's skins usually do not use her original plague doctor mask (including her worn clothes) but instead use an adorable puppet mask that combined with her gentle voice and friendly demeanor makes her an adorable woman even though he's a spider cyborg. She is also a hunter with a brutal method of elimination and blades instead of arms.
* ConnectedAllAlong: Her 2021 Character Day letter reveals that she eventually ended up in Hullabaloo Circus, and may have present during the Moon River Tragedy.
* CoolMask: Wears one in her default skin.
* CreepyGood: A cyborg spider, who happens to be a hunter in the game, but also doesn't seem to have a bad bone in her body. At least [[spoiler: before Joker attacks her]].
* {{Cyborg}}: More steampunk than traditional examples, however.
* DontYouDarePityMe: Disliked that other members of the freak show treated her differently because they felt sorry for her. The fact that Max, the owner of the freak show, treated her exactly how he treated everyone else (badly) is what caused Violetta to warmly regard him as a father figure, despite her being well aware of his many flaws.
* GreenEyedMonster: One of her main character traits, listed on her Character Day, is jealousy.
** It’s implied that this may be the reason she dislikes the Ripper, feeling threatened by him apparently being considered the best hunter.
* TheGrotesque: What the freak show advertised as, calling her a cross between a penguin and a man. For a period of time she served as their star attraction. Eventually, however, people began to regard her as a one-trick pony and lost interest.
* HistoricalDomainCharacter: Based on Aloisia Wagner, a stage performer born without arms or legs.
* HistoricalVillainUpgrade: An affable performer in real life. A dangerous hunter tasked with hunting other people in this game (though she does not appear to be malicious). [[spoiler: Whether she actually ended up canonically hunting anyone is questionable, however, following revelations from the Time of Reunion event and her 2022 letter.]]
* IJustWantToBeLoved: Her central motivation, and what caused her to make the decision to mechanically alter her body and come to the manor.
* MultiArmedAndDangerous: Affixed with mechanical limbs, and capable of hunting down Survivors.
* NiceMeanAndInbetween: Along with [[spoiler: Murro,]] she serves as the nice to [[spoiler: Joker's]] mean and [[spoiler: Margaretha and Mike's]] in-between during [[spoiler:the preparation stages of Game 8.]]
* OnlyOneName: Not given a surname. While, in reality, "Violetta" was really just a stage name for Aloisa Wagner, the deductions and letters tied to the game's version of Violetta imply that "Violetta" is her actual name. Her lack of a surname makes sense when one remembers that her parents abandoned her as a baby and that [[BadBoss Max]] would have likely felt no need to give her a surname.
* ParentalAbandonment: Her deductions reveal that she was left under a seat in a basket during a performance at the freak show.
* ProjectileWebbing: Has the ability to shoot some of her webbing like a ranged weapon.
* ShortRangeGuyLongRangeGuy: Her gameplay is more focused on harming survivors at a certain distance, whereas her fellow Hunter - and former circus coworker - Joker needs to be close to the survivor to do something.
* SpiderLimbs: Has these as her ArtificialLimbs
* SpiderPeople: Albeit a fake one.
* TragicVillain: Born without arms and legs, tossed aside by her father figure when people lost interest in her and was later forced to graft mechanical limbs onto her body in order to continue making a living. Her deduction targets also reveal that she was abused at the circus where she performed. Practically nothing indicates that she is in any way malevolent; she just wants to be in the spotlight again.
* WhiteDwarfStarlet: What she appeared to be on the verge of becoming.
* YouAreNumberSix: She is referred to by her [[spoiler: given serial number, 8-0-1]] in her [[spoiler: Experiment File]] and corresponding [[spoiler: Experiment Files]] on survivors that participated in the same game as her.

-> '''Voiced by:''' Huang Ying (Chinese), Creator/YuiIshikawa (Japanese), Creator/MayaAokiTuttle (English)
----
* AmbiguousSituation: Her 2020 Character Letter and the means through which she became a Hunter. Does the letter imply that her father-in-law sent her body to Eugene, who proceeded to dispose of it by throwing it into the lake where Hastur resided? Or was Eugene sent the hatpin (the implied murder weapon), which was later stolen by his niece when she ran off with Sergei, and purchased by the manor owner at an auction?
* AnimalMotif: She has the alias "Red Butterfly", and her "Dancing in Misery" ability has her place butterflies on the map. It can be both PrettyButterfly and ButterflyOfDeathAndRebirth,
* BlackEyesOfEvil: She has eyes that are an empty, solid black, making even her "Beauty" form look unnerving.
* CombatHandFan: Attacks survivors with a bladed fan.
* ConnectedAllAlong: Her Character Day letter hints that either her body was [[AmbiguousSituation (possibly)]] dumped in the lake where Hastur resided, or the murder weapon used to kill her was delivered to Margaretha's uncle Eugene (and later stolen and sold to the manor owner by Margaretha).
* CoolMask: Upon entering her "Prajna" form, she puts on a Hannya mask. In her "Rashomon" skin, it’s a Noh mask.
* DontLookAtMe: Loses her abilities when stared at.
* FragileSpeedster : DownplayedTrope since hunters can't actually be harmed by survivors. Michiko is among the fastest hunters, even having the ability to walk through walls while moving, but the way her ability works makes her more susceptible to receiving stuns than other hunters.
* {{Geisha}}: It is her title and her job before she married Miles.
* HappilyMarried: Was this with Miles prior to her murder. Some of her quotes are directed towards him in a fond and longing tone, showing that even after all that happened to her, her love for him persists.
* HeadSwap:
** She has an S-tier skin that transforms her into Yuko Ichihara from Manga/XxxHolic
** She has an A-tier skin that transforms her into Sae Kurosawa from VideoGame/FatalFrameII.
* MeaningfulName: Her name means "beauty" in Japanese. Prior to her death she was said to be a beautiful dancer.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: Can phase through solid objects, floats in the air during her chase mode and can be seen rapidly moving around at such speed it looks like she is teleporting in one of her lobby animations.
* RavenHairIvorySkin: Her lustrous black hair and fair skin gives her the exotic beauty of a traditional Japanese woman in an otherwise Western setting.
* SatelliteCharacter: A curious case. She is the playable character, but most of her official content lore appears to come from the point of view of her husband [[SatelliteLoveInterest Miles]] or [[AmbiguouslyRelated Margaretha's]] uncle both NPC's.
* ShoutOut: Her background story is based on Theatre/MadameButterfly, where she represents Cho-Cho-San while her husband Miles represents B.F. Pinkerton. Unlike how Pinkerton treats Cho-Cho-San however, Miles and Michiko’s love was mutual and they were only be separated by Miles’ father.
* TeamMom: In the stageplay to the Hunters.
* TragicVillain: Married her true love, Miles, then was killed by his disapproving father.
* WightInAWeddingDress: Her "The Bride" and "Shiromuku" skin evokes this imagery.
* {{Yakuza}}: Her "Blood Fan" skin was inspired by and designed after them, giving her a DragonLady look.

-> '''Rumor:''' ''When the sun sinks into the lake and the black stars rise, the one draped in yellow rags will rise from the depths of the lake. He is a nameless soul with an unquenching thirst for knowledge.''

-> '''Stage Cast:''' Hino Arata
->'''Voiced by:''' Wang Yuhang (Chinese)
----
* AdaptationalAttractiveness: Believe it or not. The original physical description of Hastur was said to be wearing a mask as His face would cause one to lose their sanity. Downplayed as He still very much looks like an EldritchAbomination.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: A given, considering that He's a Lovecraftian entity.
* CombatTentacles: His main ability.
* DeathOfTheOldGods: Implied. The residents of Lakeside Village never acknowledge Him by name (making it unclear if they even known it) and refer to Him as a water god; Hastur is technically the God of Shepherds and, occasionally, a god of air (the god of water being His brother Cthulhu, who it has been written that Hastur hates).
* EldritchAbomination: Based on The King in Yellow.
* EmotionEater: Feeds off of Survivor's fear to create tentacles.
* ExtraEyes: Most of His body is a writhing mass of eyes suspended in clouds of gas.
* HiddenDepths: He apparently enjoys mushroom pasta (with the mushrooms still alive and growing out of it), going by the Dish system.
* HumanityEnsues: Strangely enough, this happens in the 2020 Spring Festival artwork.
* InTheHood: Wears a big yellow cloak.
* OurGodsAreDifferent: Despite being a deity, who has come down to Earth to participate in the game, He is no more powerful than any other hunter.
* SignificantReferenceDate: Possibly. While his second letter implies that some sort of event related to him occurred sometime in January, his official Character Day (January 24) is also on the same date that ''Haita the Shepherd,'' the short story written by Creator/AmbroseBierce from which the character of Hastur first originated, was published.

!! Wu Chang - The White/Black Guards
[[quoteright:500:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/20240420_174539.png]]
-> '''Rumor:''' ''The White and Black Guards had their souls imbued into an umbrella where they are bound together, forever.''

-> '''Stage Cast:''' Agata Goki (Black Guard) and Kunishima Naoki (White Guard)
-> '''Voiced by:''' Sun Ye (Chinese), Creator/ToshiyukiToyonaga (Japanese)
----
* AdaptationalVillainy: In original Chinese myths, the Heibai Wu Chang were said to be in charge of guiding spirits to the underworld and judging them accordingly. Xie Bi'an would reward others for their good deeds while Fan Wujiu would punish unrepentant souls. In the game, the two of them hunt Survivors indiscriminately and while many of the Survivors have far from clean pasts, some of them actually feel remorse for their actions.
* AffablyEvil: Xie Bi'an at least.
* AmbiguouslyGay: Some official materials seem to imply this. Namely, Wu Chang's deduction star skin, based on the romance movie "Broken Blossoms", in which the story and fates of the male and female leads mirror Wu Chang's backstory.
* AloofAlly: In the stageplay, Fan Wujiu/Black Guard is this to the other hunters although he's not as bad as Joseph [Photographer].
* BashBrothers: They work together as government officers and as hunters.
* BlingOfWar: Their "Far East Wind" skin where they appear to be military men donning golden armors.
* ColorMotif: White and black respectively
* TheDividual: Two men who share a soul, occupying the same umbrella.
* DrivenToSuicide: In order to protect Xie Bi’an, Fan Wujiu chose to let himself drown under the Nantai Bridge, in the process posthumously taking the full blame for the incident that caused the two to be slighted by their corrupt governor. Xie Bi’an chose to join Fan, TogetherInDeath, shortly afterwards.
* ILetGwenStacyDie: Xie Bi'an Blames himself for Fan Wujiu's death, and that's why he's DrivenToSuicide.
* HeadSwap:
** They have an A-tier skin that transform them into Cheng Xiaoshi & Lu Guang from ''Animation/LinkClick''.
** They have an A-tier skin that transforms them into Fukata Ryuusuke & the Intersection Bishounen from Creator/JunjiIto's ''Manga/{{Lovesickness}}''.
* InterfaceScrew: One of their abilities allows them to reverse a Survivor's movement directions while another one makes Survivors unable to interact with the environment.
* ItsAllMyFault: Xie Bi'an/White Guard blames Fan Wujiu/Black Guard's death on himself. His guilt is so strong that he genuinely believes that he's undeserving of love after what happened to Fan Wujiu.
* LeanAndMean: Tall, skinny, and deadly hunters.
* [[LettingHerHairDown Letting His Hair Down]]: In their "Broken Blossoms" skin. Though with the implications, it's less for {{Fanservice}} and more of them mourning each other.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: Both wear their hair in long braids, and are the first "pretty boy" hunters released in the game.
* TheLostLenore: Fan Wujiu is a platonic [[AmbiguouslyGay (or maybe not)]] example of this to Xie Bi’an.
* MeaningfulName: The names Xie Bi'an and Fan Wujiu roughly translate to "those who make amends will always be at peace" and "those who commit crimes will have no salvation" respectively. In their lifetime, Xie was the more gentle and personable of the two and Fan's name could refer to their status as government officers or the fact that they hunt Survivors (Several of which have rather shady pasts).
** Could also count as IronicName considering what happened to them.
* ParasolOfPain: Fights with an umbrella.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: Both are dead and based on spirits, but are completely solid.
* RedOniBlueOni: White Guard is the blue oni to Black Guard's red. PlayedWith however in that Xie Bi'an is the more outgoing of the two and Fan Wujiu is more withdrawn.
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: Implied. Shortly after the merchant got rid of the umbrella, the country descended into chaos.
* TheScapegoat: It is implied that the local governor’s son was causing trouble at a tavern, and the two of them chose to intervene. As was their job as officers of government. Instead of punishing his son, the governor chose to cast the blame for the incident on his two officers, in order to ensure that his son stayed a free man.
* SharingABody: They can't be present together. They have one body and one umbrella. Slightly different from this trope as the un-present partner's soul seems to reside in the umbrella and not in the body, but the effect is similar. In the stage play, at least, it seems that the un-present partner can communicate with the present one. This is all true in the game canon as well, despite the fact that they are often shown together in official art.
* SignificantReferenceDate: Their Character Day is on the same day as the Ghost Festival (the fifteenth night of the seventh month in the Chinese Lunar calendar), which as the name suggests honors ghosts and allows them to visit the world of the living.
* TarotMotifs: Their tarot card for the official "Arcana Series" merchandise is [[UsefulNotes/TarotCards The Sun]].
* TragicVillain: Two noble government officers who were unfairly slighted by their own governor for selfish reasons. Fan Wujiu committed suicide in order to shoulder the blame, and Xie Bi’an joined him shortly after, hanging himself on the same bridge where Fan Wujiu drowned. Both of their souls were then trapped in an umbrella, left to wail in the night and apparently unable to reunite, or communicate with each other.
* WhiteHairBlackHeart: Fan Wujiu in the "Broken Blossoms", "Flying Guillotine" and "Far East Wind" skins.
* YouAreNumberSix: Their third letter reveals that the umbrella said to contain their souls was given the designation 5-0-3-U during [[spoiler: Step 5 of the manor's experiments.]]

-> '''Stage Cast:''' Igarashi Keisuke
-> '''Voiced by:''' Sun Ye (Chinese), Creator/HiroshiKamiya (Japanese)
----
* AccidentalMisnaming: In the Comedy version of the stageplay, Aesop keeps calling him Jonathan.
* AloofAlly: In the stageplay the Photographer is [[spoiler:at least at first]] cold and distant to other hunters.
* AndIMustScream: The presumed state of the people he trapped in photographs.
* AngstySurvivingTwin: The pain of losing his twin brother caused Joseph to become absorbed with the conservation of life.
* EffeminateVoice: His voice is incredibly high-pitched and feminine while inside the Camera World. While this is most likely a way of depicting his [[OlderThanHeLooks preserved youth]], it sounds almost more [[CreepyHighPitchedVoice disturbing]] in comparison to his [[EvilSoundsDeep "Real-World" voice]].
* EverythingSoundsSexierInFrench: His alluring foreign accent is said to have charmed people, which led to them agreeing to act as his models.
* EvilOldFolks: [[AvertedTrope Somewhat averted]], as he's quite youthful despite being in his mid-to-late sixties, but he has either grey hair, or a powdered wig for his bald head.
* EvilSoundsDeep: His voice while outside of the camera world is a raspy growl coupled with haggard, labored breathing.
* FreudianExcuse: The death of his twin brother at a young age caused him to become obsessed with the idea of finding a way to eternally preserve the lives of others. This ultimately led to him experimenting on people and trapping them in his photographs.
* HeadSwap: He has an A-tier skin that transforms him into Peter Ratri from ''Manga/ThePromisedNeverland''.
* HumanoidAbomination: Outside the Camera World, The Photographer’s body is riddled with cracks, as though it’s breaking apart. His voice is also rougher, in contrast to the soft voice he has inside the Camera World.
* TheJuggernaut : Breaks pallets and vaults windows at incredible speed, and deals 1.5x damage with each strike.
* LittleBitBeastly: In his "Moonlight Gentleman" skin, he has wolf ears and a tail.
* LongHairedPrettyBoy: Has his hair tied in a ponytail, and is one of the pretty man in the manor.
* MagicalCamera: The source of his powers.
* MadScientist: Seemingly developed his craft through experiments he conducted.
* NamedAfterSomeoneFamous: Based on Joseph Nicéphore Niépce, a French inventor credited with creating photography, and son of a wealthy family who fled France during the French Revolution.
** Joseph's brother Claude, likewise, shares the same name as Niépce's real life older brother.
* {{Necromantic}}: After Claude's death, Joseph became obsessed with the idea of bringing him back, leading to his experimentation with photographs.
* OccultBlueEyes: Hinting to be the result of either his experiments or [[spoiler: the hallucinogenic drugs that the Survivors are under.]]
* OlderThanHeLooks: Appears to be a young man in his twenties. His backstory reveals that, by the time the people of the village began to suspect that he may have had something to do with the disappearances that had occurred in the village, he was an elderly man.
* RoyalRapier: Uses one as his main weapon
* SevenDeadlySins: His "Judge" costume from Season 13 Essence 2 represents the sin of Main/{{Pride}}, contrasting Luca's "Winter Cicada" costume from Season 22 Essence 3, which represents the [[SevenHeavenlyVirtues virtue of Humility]].
* SurvivorsGuilt: Heavily implied in his 2020 Character Day letter.
* TarotMotifs: His chosen tarot card for the official "Arcana Series" merchandise is [[UsefulNotes/TarotCards The Emperor]].
* TimeMaster: Can return himself to an earlier space in time, and create a snapshot of the time that was, and interact with it.
* VillainProtagonist: He is a Hunter and is one of the two main characters of the stage play.
* WouldHurtAChild: His 2021 Character Day letter reveals that he used several children from his town as test subjects for his experiments.
* YourSoulIsMine: Captured several people and trapped them in his photographs.

->'''Voiced by:''' Meng Xianglong (Chinese)
----
* TheAlcoholic: Constantly drinking in his idle and waiting animations. This is averted in his Backrift series skin, Measurer, which takes place in a universe where Burke never got to work at the manor, implying that this is one of the [[DrowningMySorrows results of his trauma from the manor massacre]].
* ArtificialLimbs: His arm and leg are implied to have been injured during the Manor incident and he has replaced it with machinery. Much to his sadness they don't seem to be fully functional.
--> '''Description of his Accessory "Violin"''': His right hand may not be fully functional, and his violin may have been slightly damaged in an incident, but Burke enjoys music still. Practice really does make perfect
* ChildHater: In his deductions he complains a lot about the young [[spoiler: Orpheus and Alice]], the children of the manor residents, for their constant interruptions in their work. That said, he doesn't hate them, and one of his biggest regrets was letting them be taken by the angry mob.
* ConnectedAllAlong: Bonbon's 2021 Character Day letter reveals that he was acquaintances with Mark Reznik, and received assistance from Mark's daughter, Tracy, in finalising the construction of one of his machines.
* EvilOldFolks: Werdly {{subverted|trope}}. Despite the fact that he is a mad scientist, has a bad temper, constantly laughs evilly, and is generally a morally questionable scientist, Burke is a pretty decent guy who doesn't actually like being a hunter, but feels forced to villainy after failing to protect a family.
* GameplayAndStorySegregation: Can fly with his mechanical hammer in official materials and in his "Visit" motion, which he is unable to do during the match.
* GenerationXerox: His father had a career in construction work.
* GrumpyOldMan: He is old, and easily irritated.
* MadScientist: Burke has created a security system for the mansion, and he replaced some of his limbs with mechanical prosthetics.
* MeaningfulName: His name means "for the fortress" in French. His backstory implies that he made his former place of employment his own personal fortress following the murder of his employers.
* MyGreatestFailure: Failed to protect the family he was working for from an angry mob. They were likely killed, which led to Burke entering the game as a hunter.
* NamedAfterSomeoneFamous: Possibly inspired by Edmund Burke, a Canadian architect with parents who also had ties to the building industry.
* OmnidisciplinaryScientist: On top of being a skilled architect, Burke also constructed several machines, such as Guard 26 and, if Percy's trailer is both canon and to be take at face value, is capable of bringing someone back from the dead.
* SinisterSurveillance: Burke was the one who designed the mansion's security system and his skills involve using his cameras to locate survivors and activating fences in the area of these cameras.
* {{Tsundere}}: A platonic example. It's implied that, as much as he complained about the children of the manor, he did actually have a soft spot for them deep down.
* UncertifiedExpert: His Character Day letter reveals that he likely never truly earned a degree.
* VillainousFriendship: Was friends with (or at least a close associate of) Bane according to the latter's Character Day letter. That said, neither of them were hunters at the time, so this trope is downplayed.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: He doesn't look younger than 70, but materials say he physically should look like he's 52, thus making him (possibly) a middle-aged man.

----
* BadBoss: Towards her followers. In one of her idle animations, she is shown toying with one of them and knocking her down. During matches, she laughs when they are hit by a pallet.
* BlindfoldedVision: Wears a blindfold. This has no impact on her sight.
* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Arguably, given that she's an entity that doesn't operate my human rules. Worth to notice that even by EldritchAbomination's standard, Yidhra still acts actively malicious and cruel compared to the other more neutral gods.
* DarkIsEvil: She is mischievous, cruel, and mocking, and tends to commit bad deeds for fun, matching her dark palette.
* DreamWeaver: It’s in the name.
* EldritchAbomination: Based on an Outer God of the same name in the Cthulhu Mythos.
* HeadSwap: She has two Skins that transform her into the ''Creator/JunjiIto'' character [[Manga/{{Tomie}} Kawakami Tomie]]. A S-tier that is the common Tomie Kawakami and an A-tier of her appearance in the chapters "Painter" and "Desire”.
* HiddenDepths: Despite being a deity like Hastur and thus having very vague deduction targets, she is actually connected to Evil Reptilian and is the reason why he became a hunter.
* {{Invisibility}}: Survivors cannot see her under any circumstance, only her followers.
* JerkassGods: Even with BlueAndOrangeMorality being taken into account, she comes off as sadistic and cruel.
* MoreTeethThanTheOsmondFamily: Which emphasises her more eldritch nature in comparison to most of the other Hunters.
* NightmareFace: In her concept art, she is shown to have sunken in purple eyes underneath her blindfold. She is also shown to be able to smile from ear to ear (in more of a SlasherSmile way than CheshireCatGrin) and her mouth is full of sharp teeth.
* OurGodsAreDifferent: Despite being a deity, who has come down to Earth to participate in the game, she is no more powerful than any other hunter. It may be intentional, since lorewise she is primarily a malicious observer rather than an outright attacker.
* PerpetualSmiler: Always wears a smile on her mouth.
* PuppeteerParasite: Can leech onto Survivors to create Followers. These Followers are mindless individuals who all look the same, and only Yidhra herself can directly control their actions.
* PurpleIsPowerful: Purple-skinned and one of the most powerful hunters lore-wise due to being a literal god.
* SnakePeople: Her lower body has the physical characteristics of a snake.
** SnakesAreEvil: Is a contender for the title of most malevolent hunter, at least lorewise.

----
* AmbiguousSituation: Either he or his sister seemingly possessed violent tendencies, which the asylum staff attempted to keep at bay through the use of hydrotherapy. However, given that later Character Day letters would imply that the majority children from the orphanage weren't actually suffering from mental illnesses...
* TheBabyOfTheBunch: He is currently the youngest Hunter.
* BadassAdorable: Despite not having a head and being undead, he still manages to come off as endearing due to his childlike mannerisms such as wanting to eat some chocolate and even having an emote where he begs for candy. He also happens to be a Hunter who attacks Survivors with an ax.
* ChildrenAreInnocent: Implied in his first deduction where he's asking his sister where their parents went.
* ChildrenForcedToKill: He is very young, but somehow was brought into this game of killing and for worst, becomes accustomed to it.
* CreepyChild: An undead, headless child who chases people down while wielding an axe.
* DeathOfAChild: He dies in his deductions after trying to climb through a broken window.
* CynicismCatalyst: It is hinted that his tragic death caused his sister to snap and go on a rampage in the asylum, killing and injuring many of the other patients and staff.
* EnfanteTerrible: Though it could be reasoned that the forces behind Oletus Manor are the only reason why he’s this.
* HeadSwap: He has an A-tier skin that transforms him into Edward Mason from ''VideoGame/AngelsOfDeath'’. He also has one that changes him into Mono from "VideoGame/LittleNightmaresII".
* TheHeart: In the stageplay, he is this to the other hunters. Even [[EldritchAbomination Hastur/The Feaster]] indulges him!
* IWantMyMommy: Sister, in this case, as revealed in the 2020 Deduction Star Event.
* LosingYourHead: Lacks a head. His deductions imply that he was beheaded by a broken window while sneaking into his sister's room.
* OurGhostsAreDifferent: An undead headless child with ties to vengeful ghosts.
* ProneToTears: Background material states that he's always crying.
* SackheadSlasher: Wields an axe and wears a sack over his possibly missing head.
* SecretlyWealthy: Or, more specifically, secretly ''formerly'' wealthy. Robbie's 2021 Character Day letter implies that, rather than coming from a middle-class family like the rest of the children in the orphanage, Robbie and Dolores may have actually been born in a well-off family, as hinted from Dolores alluding to a family doctor.
* SignificantReferenceDate: His Character Day is on April 25th, which is when Arbor Day is celebrated in Germany (the country that Creator/TheBrothersGrimm, the authors of ''Literature/TheJuniperTree,'' originate from). This goes with his tree motif.
* SweetTooth: Appears to be rather fond of chocolate. Which makes the fact that he is missing a head, and therefore can't eat any, even more tragic and depressing.
* OrphansOrdeal: Following their parents' deaths, he and sister were sent to an orphanage where he was forced to work a living, while his sister begged on the streets. He was later committed to an asylum, and would frequently sneak out of his room in order to see his sister.
* TragicVillain: Was an orphan at Kreacher's orphanage with his sister Dolores. Lost his head in some kind of accident (implied to have involved a broken window) after the orphanage was closed and he and his sister were transferred to the White Sand Street Asylum.
* UndeadChild: A deceased child who has been resurrected and transformed into an undead Hunter.

----
* BunnyEarsLawyer: His deductions imply that he studied his reptile subjects by testing their venom on himself. His lab's janitor, Darren Berglund's, comments imply that this would often leave his lab a mess. Regardless, he was still respected as an outstanding scholar.
** He is also said to have been judged by his peers and the staff for believing in Darwin's theory of evolution (which was, at the time, thought of as ridiculous). Despite this, he was still considered a trusted official by his peers.
* DoubleJump: And even triple jump at max presence.
* EvilRedhead: He has red hair and is an ''Evil'' Reptilian. His Professor persona is revealed to be an effect of his transformation and not his natural hair color.
* ForScience: The core motivation behind his studies. This had the downside of making him jump head first into situations that he knew would likely end badly
** Even his transformation didn't stop him. Rather than despairing over what he had become, Luchino is implied to have instead have continued his work by attempting to study his own altered physiology.
* HeadSwap: He has an S-tier skin that transforms him into Ryuk from ''Manga/DeathNote''
* JustThinkOfThePotential: His studies were motivated by a desire to both better understand and even possibly change the world.
* LickingTheBlade: Does this in most of his animations.
* LizardFolk: To put it simply, he was transformed into a lizard-like reptilian.
* NiceGuy: Before his transformation he appeared to treat both his colleagues and members of the cleaning staff kindly. His 2021 Character Day letter indicates that he retained his kind nature even after his transformation was well underway.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: His 2021 Character Day letter implies that during [[spoiler: his time at the Manor,]] he served as the Savvy Guy to [[spoiler: Demi Bourbon's]] Energetic Girl.
* ThatManIsDead: He believes he is no longer the Luchino that used to be the Professor and claims to have abandoned all human limits, official materials however imply that deep down, he regrets going so far.
* TragicVillain: Was a well-meaning scientist who was betrayed by one of his colleagues, who possessed an unclear connection to Yidhra. It's noted how he uses his knife to try and remove the scales from his body, but they always grow back.
* WasOnceAMan: Used to be an all-around normal, albeit genius, scholar, before being betrayed by his own colleagues and transformed into a reptilian.
* YouAreNumberSix: He is referred to by his [[spoiler: given serial number, 6-1-4]] in his [[spoiler: Experiment File]] and corresponding [[spoiler: Experiment Files]] on survivors and hunters that participated in the same game as him.

-> '''Rumor:''' ''Burke's Guard 26 robot stores a large number of Time Bombs''.

----
* AffectionateNickname: His name, Bonbon, was given to him by [[spoiler: Alice]] during her childhood, when she considered the robot a friend. Burke absolutely hates this nickname, but has been forced to accept it over time.
* AndroidsArePeopleToo: [=The DeRoss=] family seemed to see him as an employee and [[spoiler: Alice]] saw him as a friend, Burke hated that.
* ArsonMurderAndJaywalking: His tastes in a nutshell.
--> '''TALENTS:''' Exploding, Discus \
'''INTERESTS:''' Execution, Baking
* ArtificialIntelligence: Created by Mad Eyes himself.
* AwesomeAnachronisticApparel: Despite being a robot, he's designed to look like he's wearing a button-up shirt, top hat, and red bowtie.
* AscendedExtra: Officially, he was created simply to be the crossover counterpart to Monokuma during the danganronpa collaboration, but ended up being an important part of the main series lore.
* BadassAdorable: An adorable robotic Penguin who loves finding trespassers on the property he's supposed to guard.
* BecomeARealBoy: His S-level accessory implies that he wishes to be a human, but he knows it's impossible.
* CartoonPenguin: Although he is not a real Penguin, he follows most of the requirements: Being a dark bird with white feathers, a natural “suit”, yellow beak and wearing a bow tie.
* ConnectedAllAlong: His 2021 Character Day letter implies that Tracy Reznik may have contributed to his creation. If this is indeed the case, it's very likely that assisting in his creation inspired her later work on her own personal bot.
* CuteMachines: An adorable and friendly Penguin robot who likes to dress fashionably, and is an IneffectualSympatheticVillain. Unfortunately he is programmed to kill if he considers you an invader.
* FairyTaleMotifs: The Tin Man from the Wizard of Oz, he has a skin with a theme, he wants to be able to love and feel, and even has a golden heart on his body.
* GrewBeyondTheirProgramming: Interacting with a [[spoiler: young Alice DeRoss and probably Orpheus]], caused Bonbon, who was supposed to be just a guard/construction robot, to develop a personality of his own, much to Burke's frustration.
* HeadSwap:
** He has an S-tier skin that transforms him into [[Characters/DanganronpaMonokuma Monokuma]] from ''VisualNovel/DanganronpaTriggerHappyHavoc'' and another S-tier skin that transforms him into [[https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&opi=89978449&url=https://www.instagram.com/b.duckofficial/&ved=2ahUKEwiVwLDz07CEAxUxrJUCHcAbDEAQFnoECBIQAQ&usg=AOvVaw1zrXNnyHTnaJCWOUO9MIOZ B-Duck]]
* IneffectualSympatheticVillain: Official materials portray him this way, with him being a guard who is ineffective in eliminating survivors or causing real problems.
* InstantAIJustAddWater: An advanced robotic hunter apparently created by Burke decades before the 1900s. Also somehow managed to gain self-awareness, to the point that no matter how many times Burke rewrote his programming, he would always say the same phrase after reactivating: "Nice to meet you, I’m Bonbon".
* KillerRobot: A penguin robot wielding a blood-splattered spiked baton, what can it do with that thing?
* LackOfEmpathy: Like Jack and Yidhra, he seems to take pleasure in hunting down survivors (one of his interests is executing people). In his case it is justified, as he was programmed to hunt invaders and is a robot.
* TheLostLenore: {{Downplayed}} since she is still alive. Little Girl, the younger version of [[spoiler: Alice]] is this to him. Bonbon seems to not fully understand what happened in the tragedy and thinks she just disappeared one day.
--> '''Guard 26 Deduction Star Quote:''' Bonbon has an owner. Where did she go?
* SavageSpikedWeapons: His default weapon is a police baton with several nails stuck into it.
* SevenDeadlySins: His "Court 6 Commissioner" costume from Season 13 Essence 2 represents the sin of Gluttony, contrasting Jack's "Centipede" costume from Season 22 Essence 3, which represents the [[SevenHeavenlyVirtues virtue of Temperance]].
* SteamPunk: A robot made by a mad inventor during the Victorian era.
* TimeBomb: His main ability. He can scatter bombs all around the map, creating one blazing hell when they explode at once.
* TragicRobot: A guard robot, who was also considered a friend by the children of the [=DeRoss=] family, the same family he failed to protect during the massacre.
