A prophecy has foretold that three [=ThunderClan=] cats would hold more power than any who had come before them. This page is about those three, and the cats they worked with before ''The Last Hope''. %%It's before The Last Hope because if we included that book, then we'd have about a zillion more cats on our hands.%%

[[folder:General Tropes]]
* ChildOfForbiddenLove: Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Hollyleaf are the kits of Leafpool and Crowfeather. Not only are their parents from different Clans, but Leafpool is a medicine cat, which makes her affair with Crowfeather a double serving of forbidden love. None of their three kits are happy to learn of this and Hollyleaf, who follows the Warrior Code to the letter, downright snaps.
* TheChosenOne: Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Dovewing were granted supernatural powers by [=StarClan=] to save the Clans from the Dark Forest.
* FamilyRelationshipSwitcheroo: Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Hollyleaf grew up believing Squirrelflight was their mother and Leafpool their aunt, but it turns out to be the other way around.
* FromZeroToHero: The third and fourth arc follow Lionblaze, Jayfeather, and Dovewing from kithood to being the saviors of the Clans [[spoiler:when the Dark Forest invades.]]
* GeneHunting: Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf are listening when - [[spoiler:after Ashfur tries to kill them out of jealousy that Squirrelflight chose Brambleclaw over him]] - Squirrelflight tells Ashfur that the three aren't her kits. Hollyleaf thinks Leafpool might know who their real parents are, since she was there at the time of their birth. Leafpool reveals that she is their real mother, which is against the warrior code since she is a medicine cat and medicine cats aren't allowed to have mates.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: The prophesied three for the few books are this. Hollypaw(leaf) is the nicest of the three due to her courageousness and undying loyalty to the Warrior Code [[spoiler: until she finds out that Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw are not her real parents]]. Jaypaw(feather) is the meanest of the three due to being the most sarcastic and rude out of the three. This leaves Lionpaw(blaze) in the middle. While he's not as overly loyal as the former, he's not as mean as the latter.
* ItSucksToBeTheChosenOne: Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Dovewing feel detached from their Clanmates because they keep their powers a secret from them (leading to Dovewing having a strained relationship with her sister), and often feel burdened with heavy responsibility.
* SiblingTeam: Jayfeather, Lionblaze and Hollyleaf, later joined by their first cousins once removed, Dovewing and Ivypool, and their cousin/adoptive brother, Alderheart.
* TangledFamilyTree: Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf are the adoptive children of Squirrelflight and Bramblestar (actually their aunt and uncle). Their foster parents later have biological kits of their own -- Sparkpelt, Alderheart, Juniperkit, and Dandelionkit, making the seven of them simultaneously cousins and foster siblings.

The main character of ''Power of Three'', and the {{deuteragonist}} of both ''Omen of the Stars'' and ''Warriors'' as a whole. He is one of three cats with "the power of the stars", his special abilities being able to sense other cat's emotions, and walk in their dreams like [=StarClan=] does. His siblings are Lionblaze and Hollyleaf.

He is the grandson of Firestar, and he has the same good heart and personality that his grandfather does. However, his blindness causes other cats to constantly treat him like a helpless kit, and he has grown a layer of sarcasm and selfishness as a result. At first he aspired to be a warrior, but he was eventually forced to take up the position of [=ThunderClan=]'s medicine cat. He is the most actively involved in trying to understand the Power of Three, and serves as a sort of leader to the Three.

As explained in ''Sign of the Moon'', [[spoiler:he is the reincarnation of Jay's Wing, the founder of the Tribe of Rushing Water. Jay's Wing and a she-cat named Half Moon fell in love, but when Half Moon bore witness to the mythical Sign of the Moon, she had to become the Stoneteller, the leader of the Tribe. Jay's Wing and Half Moon have vowed to walk the same skies one day when they meet again in the Tribe of Endless Hunting.]]
----
* AllLovingHero: He tries to avoid it, but eventually the fact that he loves and wants to save everyone catches up to him.
* AnnoyingPatient: Jayfeather might be a brilliant medicine cat, but in ''River of Fire'', Alderheart thinks to himself that taking care of him when ''he's'' sick is worse than facing down a whole den of badgers.
* AntiHero: While he is on the good side, his selfishness and {{jerkass}} tendencies keep him this way for the ''Power of Three'' arc. However, he matures into a pure hero by the end of ''Omen of the Stars''.
* AntiHeroSubstitute: His personality is essentially that of Firestar, but with a layer of jerkishness over the heart of gold.
* TheApprentice: Briefly to Brightheart and then to Leafpool.
* TheBait: In ''Sign of the Moon'', [[spoiler:he volunteers himself as bait to lure an eagle down to the ground so that the ancient Tribe cats can learn to hunt birds of prey.]]
* BecauseDestinySaysSo: Destiny made it impossible for him to be a warrior on top of his blindness.
* BeneathTheMask: He acts like a {{Jerkass}}, but dig deep enough and you find an AllLovingHero.
* BerserkButton:
** Any reference to his blindness will set him off.
** He doesn't like when cats mess with his stick. In ''The Fourth Apprentice'', Thornclaw uses it to help Berrynose, Spiderleg, and Rainstorm, and Dovewing thinks that Jayfeather might be considering murder over it.
** He hates being lied to and when cats keep secrets from him. In ''Long Shadows'', [[spoiler:Squirrelflight finds this out after revealing that she isn't his mother]]. Then in ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:Leafpool]] learns this. By ''The Fourth Apprentice'', [[spoiler:being betrayed by two of the cats he trusted most has really made his attitude towards this worse, and he reacts to learning that Rock knew his true parentage all along by ''breaking his beloved stick''. (Emphasis completely deserved.)]]
* BlindSeer: Although blind, he receives frequent visions from [=StarClan=]. (He can also see in them.)
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: A variation of ginger/black/gray:
** Ginger Lionblaze, black Hollyleaf, and gray Jayfeather.
* BroodingBoyGentleGirl:
** He and [[spoiler:Half Moon]] are worth a mention; even though they have limited interaction in the books, since they [[spoiler:don't even live in the same time.]] Jayfeather's grumpy and sarcastic; [[spoiler:Half Moon]] is friendly and cheerful and later becomes [[spoiler:the first Tribe-Healer of the Tribe of Rushing Water.]]
** His dynamic with Briarlight is also very similar, with Jayfeather being snappish and waspish, and Briarlight being kind and soothing. She's also the one he turns to for reassurance about his "role" in Flametail's death.
* BroughtDownToNormal: In ''Bramblestar's Storm''. Out of the three, however, he appears to have gotten over it.
* CainAndAbel: In ''The Fourth Apprentice'', [[spoiler:his half-brother Breezepelt joins the Dark Forest]] and they become enemies.
* CatchPhrase: He often says to his patients, "You're fine when I say you are."
* CatsHateWater: Definitely true of Jayfeather, although a lot of it had to do with Fallen Leaves' fate and the tunnels.
* CelibateHero: As a medicine cat, he has to take a vow to never have a mate.
* CharacterDevelopment: He goes from a selfish {{jerkass}} to a pure hero willing to die for his Clan.
* ChocolateBaby: It's not entirely inconceivable that Hollyleaf and Lionblaze could be [[spoiler:(or at least pass for)]] Squirrelflight and Bramblestar's kits; they share their eye color with their same-gendered parent, Bramblestar's mother was golden like Lionblaze, and his grandmother (on Tigerstar's side) was black like Hollyleaf. The real oddball is Jayfeather, who is a small gray tabby with blue eyes. That said, a lot of cats in ''Warriors'' are [[ChocolateBaby chocolate babies]] since most of them have colors and coats do not match their parents, so it can be forgiven that no one thought anything strange about it.
* TheCobblersChildrenHaveNoShoes: He's a medicine cat, but can't cure his own blindness.
* CodeOfHonor: In ''Crowfeather's Trial'', [[spoiler:when Crowfeather comes to ask for burdock root, Jayfeather initially refuses to give him any because it's for Breezepelt, angrily reciting all the ways Breezepelt has hurt him and his siblings. A few moments later, however, he repents and gives Crowfeather the burdock root, because he's a ''medicine cat'' and allowing a cat to die, even one he hates, goes against everything his profession stands for.]]
* CompanionCube: He is very fond of a particular stick.
* ContrastingSequelMainCharacter: He particularly stands out from the earlier main characters in that he's blind and that his path in life is one he actively didn't want at first.
* CursedWithAwesome: Can go into other cats' dreams, but is blind outside of them.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: Due to his character development, he eventually starts going out of his way to help everyone he can.
* DamnedByFaintPraise: In ''The Forgotten Warrior'', Mistystar, Onestar, and Blackstar have to give their thoughts on whether he [[spoiler:murdered Flametail]]. Mistystar says, "I find it hard to believe that any cat would do this". Onestar says, "I'm sure Jayfeather could have found an easier way to [[spoiler:eliminate an enemy]]". Blackstar says nothing. Lionblaze immediately notes that they could have said a lot more to help him.
* DeadpanSnarker[=/=]DisabledSnarker: Tends to be rather rude and blunt with his Clanmates. For example:
-->'''Jaypaw''': "Oh great. Let's pile up all the useless cats and hope a tree falls on them." (''The Sight'')
-->'''Jaypaw''': "I'm a medicine cat. If you want sympathy, go to the nursery." (''Dark River'')
-->'''Jayfeather''': "One medicine cat who can't see and another who can't walk. [=ThunderClan=] will be invincible!" (''The Forgotten Warrior'')
* {{Determinator}}: He will ''never'' give up on a patient. He actually invents swimming therapy to help Cinderpaw's leg heal and comes up with his own successful medical plan for Briarlight, who even the other medicine cats thought was beyond saving. [[spoiler:It becomes heartbreaking when Briarlight dies, as he refuses to accept he can't save her and tries everything he can think of, but fails in the end.]]
* {{Deuteragonist}}: In ''OmenOfTheStars''.
* DisabilitySuperpower: He's born blind, but learns he has the ability to read minds. As well, he can creep into dreams, in which he gains perfect vision.
* DontYouDarePityMe: He absolutely hates cats referencing his blindness. There's a time in ''Power of Three'' where Willowshine offers to help him to the Moonpool. He yells at her before and after he trips over a rock.
* DramaticIrony: He is unable to understand why Leafpool and Crowfeather act so weird around each other, but any reader who has read the second series would know that what he is detecting is pure UnresolvedSexualTension, [[spoiler:and they also would probably have guessed that the two are his real parents.]]
* DreamCrushingHandicap: Aspires to be a warrior, but is forced to come to terms with the fact that his blindness will keep him from doing it.
* DreamLand: Can enter other cats' dreams.
* DreamSpying: He has the ability to walk in dreams, so he uses this to walk in other cats' dreams, mainly that of the other medicine cats when they [[DeadPersonConversation speak with their deceased ancestors]].
* DreamWalker: Can enter the dreams of other cats due to being part of the Power of Three.
* DrJerk: He tends to be rather rude to his patients, because he believes that, "If they want sympathy, they can go to the Nursery."
* DysfunctionJunction: His various attitude problems originate from his dislike of being blind. As a little kitten, he actually says "I wish I had never been born!"
* TheEmpath: He can tell what other cats are feeling with his powers.
* FailureToSaveMurder: Dawnpelt accuses him of this in ''The Forgotten Warrior'' while at a Gathering regarding her brother Flametail. In reality, the death was a tragic accident (Flametail had fallen through the ice, and Jayfeather dove in and tried to pull him out of the water but would have drowned himself if he hadn't let go), but Dawnpelt was too consumed with grief to see the obvious.
* FamilyThemeNaming: [[spoiler:Jay''feather'' and his father, Crow''feather''.]]
* FantasticRomance: He ends up going back in time - to the ancestors of the forest Clans before they even ''lived'' in the forest - and falls in love with Half Moon. [[spoiler:He is able to go back to her time again later [[IChooseToStay and wants to stay]], but their destinies [[StarCrossedLovers don't allow it]].]]
* FishOutOfTemporalWater: In ''Long Shadows'' and ''Sign of the Moon'', he is sent back to the time of the Ancients and must adapt to their traditions, [[spoiler:while teaching them traditions he learned from the future version of them.]]
* {{Forgiveness}}: He is willing to forgive [[spoiler:Leafpool, Squirrelflight, and even Ashfur (the cat who tried to ''push him off a cliff'')]], alongside many others.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Melancholic.
* FreudianTrio:
** In ''The Power of Three'' he was the Ego to Lionblaze's Id and Hollyleaf's Superego.
** In ''Omen of the Stars'' he was the Superego to Lionblaze's Id and Dovewing's Ego.
* FromHeroToMentor: From a protagonist in the third and fourth series to the mentor of sixth series protagonist Alderheart.
* GoodIsNotNice: He may be one of the most important heroes in the third and fourth story arcs, but his temper is notoriously short.
--> '''Bumblestripe''': [shrugs] He snapped at Hazeltail for getting in the way, hissed at Cherrypaw for trampling on Ferncloud's moss, and ordered Foxleap and Toadstep to fetch comfrey. So I guess he's okay.
* GreenEyedMonster: In ''Eclipse'', it's mentioned that he feels jealous of Lionblaze and Hollyleaf when they become warriors. He feels guilty about it.
* GuiltByCoincidence: In ''The Forgotten Warrior'', [[spoiler:Dawnpelt accuses him of murder because he was there when Flametail died, and because the relationship of the medicine cats had been strained. However, Jayfeather was trying to save Flametail, and the medicine cats had been having problems for a completely different reason.]]
* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler:By Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight]] in ''The Last Hope''.
* TheHero: He's the main character of ''Power of Three'' (and the entire Era of the Three by extension).
* HeroicBastard: It's revealed in ''Sunrise'' that [[spoiler:he's the kit of the [=ThunderClan=] medicine cat Leafpool, and the [=WindClan=] warrior Crowfeather.]]
* IChooseToStay: When time traveling, he falls in love and wants to stay in that time. He isn't allowed to because he still is needed in the present day.
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: He doesn't feel guilty about sending Lionblaze to steal [=WindClan=]'s catmint in ''Long Shadows'', because it means [=ThunderClan=] survives.
* IllKillYou: Played for laughs in ''[[Recap/WarriorCatsRiverOfFire River of Fire]]''. Alderheart assigns a young MotorMouth kittypet to be grumpy Jayfeather's assistant while Jayfeather is ill...
-->'''Alderheart:''' Fuzzball will be looking after all your needs from now on. Thorns in your nest? Need your bedding fluffed? Ask Fuzzball. Need water? Ask Fuzzball!
-->'''Jayfeather:''' I don't believe this! What are you meowing about?
-->'''Fuzzball:''' Are you blind? What's it like being blind? How did it happen? Was it in a fight with a badger? Or a dog? Did the dog ''die''? Is your belly hurting? How bad? Would you like me to rub it?
-->'''Jayfeather (to Alderheart):''' When I get better, I'm going to kill you.
* InSeriesNickname: Lionblaze calls him "Jay" at one point.
* InternalReveal:
** In ''Outcast'', he tells Lionblaze and Hollyleaf about the prophecy of Three.
** In ''The Fourth Apprentice'', Jayfeather and Lionblaze tell [[spoiler:Dovewing]] about the prophecy.
** ''The Last Hope'' has [[spoiler:Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Hollyleaf revealing the prophecy to Brambleclaw, Squirrelflight, and Leafpool.]]
* IWasHavingSuchANiceDream: Although he fortunately is never woken in the middle of a prophecy, in ''Omen of the Stars'', Dovewing wakes him up while he is enjoying a dream about chasing a squirrel.
* ItsAllMyFault: [[spoiler:He does not take Briarlight's death well, in no small part because she caught the illness that killed her from him.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Acts rude and sarcastic, but when the chips are down he will never give up on a patient and is willing to die for his Clan.
* KnightInSourArmor: Despite being very cynical, he still vows to fight for the safety of the Clans, and is willing to give his life to protect everyone.
* MeaningfulName: Named after [[spoiler:his father, Crowfeather.]]
** He was also named after his eyes, as the color of them are like a jay's wing.
* TheMedic: He is [=ThunderClan=]'s medicine cat, so it's his job.
* TheMentor: To Alderheart.
* MessiahCreep: He starts out as a {{jerkass}}, but he grows into being the purest hero the Clans have.
* MindRape: Experiences it when he tries to [[spoiler:read Sol's mind]] in ''Eclipse''. Later in ''Long Shadows'', he tries to do it to [[spoiler:Ashfur]]. It doesn't work.
* MundaneMadeAwesome: In ''The Fourth Apprentice'', [[spoiler:he breaks his beloved stick.]] It is the most dramatic [[spoiler:twig-breaking]] scene you will ever read in fiction.
* MyDeathIsOnlyTheBeginning: When a group of Dark Forest warriors attack him at the beginning of ''The Last Hope'', he says that even if they kill him, he will return as a [=StarClan=] warrior and keep fighting them.
* NonActionGuy: He mostly avoids fights due to his blindness. [[spoiler:When inhabiting the body of a cat in perfect health during ''Sign of the Moon'', he manages to actually fight and succeed.]]
* ObliviousAdoption: Subverted in ''Long Shadows''. [[spoiler:Squirrelflight reveals that she and Brambleclaw aren't the parents of Jayfeather and his siblings, and Lionblaze and Hollyleaf are completely blindsided by this. You'd expect Jayfeather to be shocked as well, but in his narration he reveals that subconsciously he always knew it was coming. Not because of the plentiful {{foreshadowing}} found earlier in the ''Power of Three'' arc, but because as the Three, he and his siblings had to have to some grand hidden heritage beyond ordinary cats.]]
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: The otherwise calm, collected and sarcastic Jayfeather becomes sloppily frantic when [[spoiler:trying to treat the dying Briarlight in ''River of Fire''. He then loses his voice when trying to deliver a speech about her at her vigil]]. This has never happened before or since and goes to show how much [[spoiler:Briarlight meant to him]].
* PlatonicLifePartners: With Briarlight, despite some ShipTease being thrown their way. They never become mates, but they remain very close, supportive, and protective of each other. [[spoiler:Her death devastates him more than anything else, including his sister's death and leaving behind Half Moon.]]
* ProphetEyes: Fanart often draws him with these, and he appears with them on at least one foreign edition cover.
* {{Reincarnation}}: In ''Sign of the Moon'', [[spoiler:he is confirmed to be the reincarnation of an Ancient called Jay's Wing. Back in ''Long Shadows'', this relationship was implied.]]
* SayingTooMuch: In ''Lost Stars'', he accidentally says in front of the other Clans in a fit of anger that [[spoiler: Mothwing doesn't believe in [=StarClan=].]] He also snaps about how trying to break the ice on the Moonpool didn't work... in front of Tigerstar, who hadn't been invited and is shocked.
* SeeingThroughAnothersEyes: In ''The Sight'', he unintentionally sees through his brother Lionpaw's eyes while he and Breezepaw are having a hunting contest, and the ground collapses under him, burying Lionpaw and Breezepaw alive. Thanks to Jaypaw seeing this, he is able to get help and save their lives.
* ScienceHero: He solves a lot of problems by using the right herbs.
* SharedFamilyQuirks: Jayfeather and Lionblaze typically have a shorter fuse in comparison to Hollyleaf.
* SecretKeeper: The prophecy, and [[spoiler:Hollyleaf killing Ashfur.]]
* TheSnarkKnight: Acts blunt and rude to his Clanmates, but is dedicated to saving them all.
* TheSmartGuy: Due to his medicine cat skills, he solves problems with his brain.
* SneakyDeparture: In ''Dark River'' after three [=WindClan=] kits go missing almost leading to a war between [=ThunderClan=] and [=WindClan=], two separate groups composed on Lionpaw, Hollypaw, and Jaypaw, and Breezepaw and Heatherpaw sneak away to find the kits.
* TalkingInYourDreams: He makes use of his ability twice in ''Long Shadows'': once to enter Kestrelpaw's dream and learn where [=WindClan=] has catmint, and once to speak to Ashfur privately and try to [[spoiler:scare him into not revealing Squirrelflight's secret.]]
* TimeTravelRomance: [[spoiler:In ''Long Shadows'' he travels to the past taking the place of Jay's Wing who he is a reincarnation of and meets Half Moon, who is in love with Jay's Wing, and by the time he leaves he realizes that he has some unspecified feelings for her. Later in ''Sign of the Moon'', he comes to genuinely love her.]]
* TookALevelInKindness: Although he was always nice on the inside, this happens due to his character development.
* {{Tsundere}}: Fittingly, [[spoiler:one of Crowfeather's sons took after his father as a male {{Tsundere}}.]] Jayfeather was very sarcastic, insensitive, and short-tempered, particularly as an apprentice, but mellowed out somewhat when older. He's not the friendliest cat, but values loyalty and has compassion for others more than [[spoiler:even his father.]] Jayfeather's softer side is more seen with his siblings, few friends, and [[spoiler:Half Moon, the cat he fell in love with.]]
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Lionblaze as the two get older. The two bicker and fight, and even just outright insult in Jayfeather's case, but the two obviously love each other fiercely.
* WhatTheHellHero: Calls out Lionblaze for refusing to go to [=WindClan=] and fetch catmint in ''Long Shadows''.
-->'''Jayfeather:''' "I never thought that my brother was a coward."
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: He absolutely hates water. In ''Night Whispers'', [[spoiler:it's proof of his complete dedication when he teaches himself to swim so that he can save Flametail.]]

Another third series protagonist, and sister of Jayfeather and Lionblaze. She places great importance on the Warrior Code, sometimes to levels other cats consider a bit extreme. She is the third cat with the power of the stars. [[spoiler:Except she's not. She was only involved in the prophecy because Jayfeather mistakenly believed that she was part of it.]] After learning of the prophecy in ''Outcast'', she becomes the "leader" of The Three. [[spoiler:After learning the truth of her heritage, that she is the result of an extremely illegal union according to the Warrior Code, she goes a bit crazy. She had last been seen running into a collapsing tunnel, presumed to be dead by her Clan.]] In ''The Forgotten Warrior'', [[spoiler:she was found to be living just outside the territory, and rejoined the Clan. Her return marked the beginning of the climax of ''OmenOfTheStars''.]]
----
* ActionGirl: As with pretty much all female characters.
* AfraidOfBlood: Which makes it pretty difficult for her to be a medicine cat apprentice.
* AlmostDeadGuy: In ''The Last Hope'' [[spoiler:Hollyleaf forgives Leafpool and says that she's not afraid to die with her last breaths.]]
* AlwaysABiggerFish: [[spoiler: She kills Ashfur, the previous villain and becomes one herself, for a time, anyway.]]
* AntagonisticOffspring: In ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:she tries to murder her own mother, Leafpool.]]
* AntiHero: Starts veering into this territory in ''Long Shadows''.
* AntiVillain: During [=TPoT=], especially when she [[spoiler:kills Ashfur]]. She loves the Warrior Code, but way too much.
* TheApprentice: Briefly to Leafpool and then to Brackenfur.
* TheAtoner: In ''The Forgotten Warrior'', [[spoiler:she seeks to atone for her rampage at the end of ''Sunrise'']] by being the best warrior she can be.
* AxCrazy: When she finds out [[spoiler:she's half-Clan]] in ''Sunrise''.
* BackForTheDead: Reappears in the Clan in ''The Forgotten Warrior'' [[spoiler:only to die in the very next book.]]
* BaitAndSwitch: The prologue of ''The Forgotten Warrior'' implies that [[spoiler:a vengeful cat who arrives at the lake is her, coming back as a major villain. It's actually just Sol without any gendered pronouns.]]
* BeneathTheMask: At the end of ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:she stops trying to pretend that everything is okay and goes on an insanity-driven rampage.]]
* BerserkButton: Please don't break the warrior code in front of her. Otherwise, she'll shout at you.
* BigBad: She's the main villain of ''Sunrise''.
* BigDamnHeroes: Seems to have become a master at this over the TimeSkip.
** Saves [[spoiler:Cherrypaw and Molepaw from a fox]] in ''The Forgotten Warrior''.
** Saves [[spoiler:Ivypool from Hawkfrost]] in ''The Last Hope''.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: [[spoiler:In ''Sunrise''.]]
* BlackAndWhiteInsanity: As a young cat, she believes the Warrior Code to be infallible and perfect, and has a very hard time reconciling this worldview with reality.
* BlackAndWhiteMorality: In the ''[[Literature/WarriorCatsPowerOfThree Power of Three]]'' series, she believed this to be the way of the world. [[spoiler:After learning that her very existence conflicted with the Warrior Code, she eventually grew out of it.]]
* BlondeBrunetteRedhead: A variation of ginger/black/gray:
** Ginger Lionblaze, black Hollyleaf, and gray Jayfeather.
* BolivianArmyEnding: The end of ''Sunrise'' has [[spoiler:a tunnel collapse on her]] in the last scene. In ''The Forgotten Warrior'', we find out [[spoiler:she survived.]]
* BreakTheCutie: She was a strong young apprentice who wanted to follow the warrior code to the best she could for her Clan and also was one of the Three with a special power... or so she thought. She later learned that Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw weren't her real parents and that she was the product of a doubly-forbidden relationship: her very existence shattered the beliefs she'd held so long about the warrior code. [[spoiler:She then murdered a Clanmate before deciding to run away from the Clan, nearly dying in the ensuing tunnel collapse, and then lived a lonely life outside the Clan for several years. Also, she was never one of the Three.]]
* BrokenPedestal: She used to look up to [[spoiler:[=ThunderClan=]'s medicine cat Leafpool.]] Then in ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:she found out that Leafpool and Crowfeather, a [=WindClan=] warrior, were her parents. As this was completely against the code, she turns against Leafpool.]]
* BuriedAlive: At the end of ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:she is the victim of a cave-in and is trapped under a ton of a rocks. We see how she got out in ''Hollyleaf's Story''.]]
* ByronicHero: Troubled? Yep, especially after realizing she's [[spoiler:the daughter of a [=WindClan=] warrior and a [=ThunderClan=] medicine cat.]] Brooding? Yep again, she constantly obsesses over right and wrong. And her passion definitely fuels a large portion of the plot.
* TheCameo: [[spoiler: Has one in ''Darkest Night'']]
* CassandraTruth: When a crisis on [=RiverClan=] territory forces them out of their camp, the other Clans all start preparing for invasion, since they believe that [=RiverClan=] will now try to steal territory. Hollypaw is seemingly the only cat on the lake that notices that all these fears are founded on nothing but paranoia, and that by preparing for a battle, everyone is making it that much more likely to happen. Naturally, nobody listens to her when she says they should try to help [=RiverClan=] with their problem, or at least get more information about it before jumping to conclusions, because she's just an apprentice and they are all "more experienced".
* CelibateHero: During her brief time as [=ThunderClan=] medicine apprentice, she had to take a vow to never have a mate. After becoming a warrior apprentice, she still doesn't really care for romance. However, after ''Power of Three'', she becomes really friendly with [[spoiler:Fallen Leaves]], and it's hinted in ''The Last Hope'' that [[spoiler:they may get together in the afterlife.]]
* CharacterDevelopment: Goes from an arrogant she-cat who believes that the Warrior Code is absolute to [[spoiler:an AxCrazy warrior. Then she exiles herself from the Clans, realizes that the cats all have reasons for what they do. After that, she returns to the Clans as a warrior who wants to be a servant of her Clan to help them, not to gain respect.]]
* CombatMedic: During her stint as a medicine cat in ''The Sight'', she's noted to be a medicine cat with good fighting skills. Her reliance on the combat side of things eventually leads her to realize that the path of a warrior is the right one for her.
* CoveredInMud: In ''Dark River'', when she is stuck with [=RiverClan=], she has to roll in mud so that if she encounters a [=WindClan=] patrol, they won't realize she's a [=ThunderClan=] cat.
* CurbStompBattle: Her battle against [[spoiler:Sol]] is extremely one sided, with Hollyleaf demonstrating her practiced battle techniques while [[spoiler:Sol]] attempts to defend himself by flailing randomly, ultimately proving that he is not a warrior.
* DeathEqualsRedemption: In ''The Last Hope'', it's implied that [[spoiler:she finally found peace of mind by dying to make up for her sins.]]
* DeathFakedForYou: In ''Sign of the Moon'', [[spoiler:it's revealed that she's still alive, after Jayfeather and Lionblaze told everyone she was dead in ''Sunrise''.]]
* {{Deuteragonist}}: In ''Power of Three''.
* DisneyDeath:
** In ''Sunrise'' [[spoiler:a tunnel collapses on her and she is assumed to be dead.]] In ''The Forgotten Warrior'', [[spoiler:she turns out to have survived, and is living in the tunnels.]]
** In ''The Last Hope'' [[spoiler:Lionblaze thinks that she died when she fell out of a tree, but she actually didn't fall out and was just playing a prank on him. She dies for real though, in the same book.]]
* [[spoiler:DisposingOfABody:]] She attempts to [[spoiler:dispose of Ashfur's body by tossing it in a stream, hoping he'll be swept into the lake, the Clan would think he just mysteriously vanished, and that would be the end of it. Things don't exactly go as planned.]]
* DroppedABridgeOnHim: Her "death". Instead of dying in a battle, she was crushed as the underground tunnel collapsed. [[spoiler:(Turns out she escaped the worst of the collapse and managed to survive with some injuries, and she eventually dies in a battle for real.)]]
* DysfunctionJunction: She is [[LawfulStupid obsessed]] with the [[WellIntentionedExtremist warrior code]] and eventually [[FaceHeelTurn goes insane]].
* EasilyForgiven: During ''The Forgotten Warrior'' she returns to [=ThunderClan=] and [[spoiler:nobody cares about her crimes, even when they find out that she killed Ashfur.]]
* FaceHeelTurn: At the end of ''Long Shadows''. [[spoiler:Fortunately it was only temporary.]]
* FaithHeelTurn: [[spoiler:After realizing she's the product of a forbidden relationship, she loses her faith in the warrior code, murders Ashfur, and tries to make Leafpool eat deathberries before attempting to run away from the Clan.]]
* FallenHero: She becomes this, [[spoiler:when her love of the warrior code makes her turn murderous.]] But then [[spoiler:she has a HeelRealization.]]
* FatalFlaw: Her arrogance and obsession with the Warrior Code leads to her downfall in ''Long Shadows'' and ''Sunrise''.
* FearOfThunder: Revealed to be due to [[spoiler:the confrontation with Ashfur in a storm]]
* FinalBoss: Of [[spoiler:the ''Power of Three'' arc. Did anyone see that coming?]]
* {{Flanderization}}: She starts as the [[TheSmartGuy smart one of the group]] who tries to respect the Warrior Code. By the end, she is completely consumed by the Warrior Code, freaking out if someone even mentions breaking it. This culminates with her [[spoiler:finding out her mom severely broke the code and going on a [[RoaringRampageOfRevenge murderous rampage]].]]
* {{Forgiveness}}: She finally forgives [[spoiler:Leafpool and Squirrelflight]] for what they did, much quicker than her brothers did. In fact, when Lionblaze tells her to blame them, Hollyleaf tells him no and that they just made a mistake like any other cat would do.
* FreudianTrio: In ''Power of Three'' she was the Superego to Lionblaze's Id and Jayfeather's Ego.
* GlorySeeker: Part of the reason she originally wanted to be a medicine cat was because of the power she would have, and how much her Clanmates would respect her.
* GoMadFromTheRevelation: In ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:it's revealed that she killed Ashfur after finding out that she wasn't Squirrelflight's daughter. She gets even crazier after finding out that she's the [=halfClan=] daughter of a medicine, to the point of attempting to murder her real mother.]]
* HappilyAdopted: [[spoiler:By Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight]] in ''The Last Hope''.
* HatesTheirParent: After the [[spoiler:reveal that Leafpool and Crowfeather were the parents of the protagonists, rather than Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw]], Hollyleaf grew to hate her biological mother for keeping the secret and being "selfish". She hated her so much, in fact, that [[spoiler:after murdering Ashfur, she started to go crazy, and tried to make Leafpool eat Deathberries.]]
* TheHeart: She's pretty much the thing that holds the Three together. [[spoiler:Due to her absence]] in ''Omen of the Stars'', [[spoiler:the true Three end up a disorganized mess until Firestar steps in.]]
* HeelFaceReturn: [[spoiler:When last seen at the end of ''Sunrise'', she tried to murder her mother and confessed another murder she'd committed. She returns in ''The Forgotten Warrior'' as a friendly cat who helps defeat real villain Sol and a potential candidate for the fourth cat in the prophecy.]] ''Hollyleaf's Story'' was later released to explain this change.
* HeelRealization: Sometime between ''Sunrise'' and ''The Forgotten Warrior'' she has one.
* TheHeroDies: She appears to die in ''Sunrise'': during a chapter that isn't from her POV, [[spoiler:she runs into a tunnel and it collapses on her, and her brothers find no sign that she's alive.]] Turns out [[spoiler:she survives, but she dies for real as well in ''The Last Hope''.]]
* HeroicBastard: In ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:she learns that Leafpool and Crowfeather are her parents, making her the [=halfClan=] daughter of a medicine cat. It would be a major understatement to say that she does not take this well.]]
* HeroicBSOD: She kind of suffers one in ''Sunrise'' [[spoiler:just before her "death" scene.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: In ''The Last Hope'', [[spoiler:she gives her life to save Ivypool from Hawkfrost, Thistleclaw, and Snowtuft.]]
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Cinderheart.
* HonorBeforeReason: Several times in ''Power of Three'' she stops to wonder if perfectly logical actions are against the code.
* {{Hypocrite}}:
** Claims to be loyal to the Warrior Code, [[spoiler:and yet she commits murder]].
** In ''Dark River'', she had accused Lionblaze of having a friend from a different Clan. Jayfeather was quick to call her out, saying that she was friends with Willowshine from [=RiverClan=].
* IDidWhatIHadToDo: In ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:she says that she did the right thing by killing Ashfur and attempting to kill her own mother.]]
* IJustWantToBeNormal:
** After finding out about her role in the prophecy in ''Outcast'', she angsts over how she's an outcast from her Clan. In ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:she turns out to actually be a normal cat who isn't part of the Three. Why? The Erins couldn't think of a good power for her]].
** For most of ''Sunrise'' she just wants to be a normal [[spoiler:[=ThunderClan=]-born warrior, as with the revelation of her parentage being a lie, she doesn't know who her true parents are. When she finds out who they are, it gets even worse.]]
** In ''The Last Hope'', [[spoiler:she tells Lionblaze she doesn't want to be the Fourth, just a good warrior.]]
* InterspeciesAdoption: In ''Hollyleaf's Story'', she attempts this for a day or so with a fox cub lost in the tunnel, finding it and caring for it before later bringing it back outside. [[spoiler:She encounters it a year later and happily greets it, only to find that it does not remember her and it attacks her.]]
* {{Irony}}: Mentally says she feels sorry for Breezepelt, stating that it couldn't be easy to have such a foul-tempered parent who seemed to judge every move he made, and she was happy that he wasn't her father. [[spoiler: Turns out, he actually is her father.]]
* KarmaHoudini: [[spoiler:She never faces any justice for murdering Ashfur, nor do the Clans find out about it, as Brambleclaw covers for her.]]
* KnightTemplar: She will use any means possible to protect her view of the Warrior Code. In ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:it's revealed that she took this murderously far.]]
* LawfulStupid: She was turning into this before she ran away, but once she came back, she became good and more sane.
* LeaderWannabe: In ''Power of Three: Outcast'', she decides that more than anything else, she wants to be Clan Leader.
* LudicrousGibs: In ''Sunrise'', she falls into a rage and shreds a mouse to pieces, until all that remains of it is described as red pulp.
* LukeYouAreMyFather: [[spoiler:She announces not only to her father, Crowfeather, but to the whole Gathering of cats that she and her brothers are actually Leafpool's kits, not Squirrelflight and Brambleclaw's, and Crowfeather's their father.]]
* MadnessMantra: At the end of ''Eclipse'' before her warrior ceremony, she's seen muttering in relish "The warrior code...the warrior code..." This annoys the heck out of Jayfeather.
* MakeWayForTheNewVillains: A strange example, in that it's not revealed to the audience until a while after it happens. In ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:it's revealed that she killed Ashfur, the previous villain, during her FaceHeelTurn. This is after the Clans spent half the book trying to find his murderer.]]
* MeaningfulName:
** Named after [[spoiler:her mother, Leafpool. She was almost named "Crowkit" at birth to tie her to her biological father Crowfeather, but Leafpool changed her mind last minute]].
** Her pelt is as dark as a holly branch, which was why she was given the Holly- prefix.
* TheMedic: She had a brief stint as the [=ThunderClan=] medicine apprentice in ''The Sight''.
* MissedTheCall: She, Jayfeather, and Lionblaze all assumed, without ever questioning it, that Hollyleaf was [[spoiler:one of the Three.]] Oops.
* MortalWoundReveal: In ''The Last Hope'', [[spoiler:after she saves Ivypool, she collapses due to her wounds and dies soon after.]]
* MurderMakesYouCrazy: [[spoiler:Killing Ashfur]] had taken a great toll on her, and throughout ''Sunrise'', her mental condition keeps getting worse, until [[spoiler:she is borderline psychotic by the end of the book. She gets better during her life in the exile, but she is still aware how that action changed her.]]
* NeverFoundTheBody: After ''Sunrise'' [[spoiler:everyone assumed she died when the tunnel collapsed on her, but it turns out that she wasn't and she returned in ''The Forgotten Warrior''.]]
* NoOneCouldSurviveThat: The cats of [=ThunderClan=] assumed that [[spoiler:she died when she ran into a collapsing tunnel. As ''Sign of the Moon'' revealed, she managed to survive.]]
* NotQuiteDead: Revealed in ''Sign of the Moon'', when [[spoiler:Jayfeather and Lionblaze go into the tunnels and find her fur.]]
* ObliviousAdoption: In ''Long Shadows'' we learn that [[spoiler:Hollyleaf and her siblings were never the kits of Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight, but they thought they were.]]
* OxymoronicBeing: [[spoiler:For all that she has dedicated her entire life to following the warrior code, her very existence is a violation of the code, as the illegitimate daughter of a [=WindClan=] warrior and a [=ThunderClan=] medicine cat.]]
* {{Pride}}: While almost completely void of the other [[SevenDeadlySins six deadly sins]], in ''Power of Three'' Hollyleaf continually thinks that she deserves to be a high-ranking Clan cat, and believes her faith the Warrior Code makes her better than cats outside it. [[spoiler:After this leads to her downfall, she abandons her pride and becomes extremely humble in ''The Forgotten Warrior'' and ''The Last Hope''.]]
* PrideBeforeAFall: Her fall happens [[spoiler:in the middle of her story, not the beginning, but her adopted humility is a vital part of her characterization.]]
* RedemptionEqualsDeath: In ''The Last Hope'', [[spoiler:she dies after coming back to [=ThunderClan=] and making amends with the other cats.]]
* RedHerring:
** ''Sunrise'': [[spoiler:She was never the third cat.]]
** ''The Last Hope'': [[spoiler:Nope, not the fourth cat either.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: Blue to Lionblaze's red.
* RegretfulTraitor: The novella ''Hollyleaf's Story'' focuses on [[spoiler:how she regrets her traitorous actions, and how she tries to make amends by leaving prey and medicinal herbs for the Clan.]]
* RoaringRampageOfRevenge: [[spoiler:In ''Sunrise'', she freaks out at learning her true parentage and exposes her mother's greatest secret. Then, she attempts to kill her mother, before running away into some tunnels.]]
* TheRunaway: At the end of ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:she runs away from her Clan...right into the mouth of a collapsing tunnel.]]
* SanitySlippage: It starts in ''Long Shadows'' when she learns that [[spoiler:Squirrelflight isn't her mother.]] Then in ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:the truth of her heritage and her guilt from killing Ashfur cause her to snap and go murderously insane.]] Then in ''Omen of the Stars'', [[spoiler:she comes back calmed down, and is saner than she ever was in ''Power of Three''.]]
* ScrewTheRulesImDoingWhatsRight: In ''Dark River'', she goes behind Firestar's back to try and help [=RiverClan=] (like how Firestar did with Bluestar). Like grandfather, like granddaughter.
* SelfImposedExile: [[spoiler:At the end of ''Sunrise'', she reveals that she murdered a Clanmate, and claims that she can't stay with her Clan now that "everything is ruined". She runs into a tunnel, attempting to leave the territory, and is presumed dead in the ensuing rockfall. She survives, but stays away from her Clan out of shame and as a self-imposed punishment before returning over a year later.]]
* HesBack: This a major part of ''The Forgotten Warrior''.
* ShipperOnDeck:
** She wants Lionblaze to get together with Honeyfern so that his loyalty will be to [=ThunderClan=], and not to a she-cat from another Clan.
** She also liked the idea of Lionblaze being with Cinderheart. [[spoiler:Guess what becomes canon?]]
* SneakyDeparture: In ''Dark River'' she sneaks away from [=ThunderClan=] camp and goes to [=RiverClan=] to find out what the huge problem impacting them is. Then, after three [=WindClan=] kits go missing almost leading to a war between [=ThunderClan=] and [=WindClan=], two separate groups composed on Lionpaw, Hollypaw, and Jaypaw, and Breezepaw and Heatherpaw sneak away to find the kits.
* StrangerInAFamiliarLand: [[spoiler:After her return]] in ''The Forgotten Warrior''.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: When she was born she was stated to look exactly like [[spoiler:her father, Crowfeather. She was almost given his prefix.]]
* SympatheticMurderer: Whether you think [[spoiler:her killing of Ashfur]] was justified or not, she's a lot more sympathetic than he is.
* TragicHero: Her obsession with the Warrior Code is her tragic flaw, and it leads to downfall in ''Sunrise''.
* WalkingSpoiler: Her character is very dynamic, and intentional misdirection makes you not expect where it goes. As such, the only cat who can rival her spoileryness is Clear Sky from the ''Dawn of the Clans'' arc. (If you're feeling bored, check out how many of her spoiler tropes are from ''Sunrise'' compared to the other ones.)
* WelcomeBackTraitor: In ''Omen of the Stars'', [[spoiler:she returns to the Clan after having murdered Ashfur, gone into hiding for over a year, and experienced a change of heart about her birth mother and adopted mother. Upon her return her family covers for her - Brambleclaw claims that he saw Ashfur attack her, and Jayfeather, Lionblaze, and Leafpool, who know the truth, keep quiet - and the Clan welcomes her back pretty much with no questions asked.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She only wanted to protect the Warrior Code. Unfortunately, her beliefs on how to accomplish that were quite warped.
* WhatTheHellHero: In ''Sunrise'', she [[spoiler:calls out Leafpool for breaking the warrior code horribly. However, by that time she had already fallen pretty far herself.]]
* WhatYouAreInTheDark: She has the opportunity to [[spoiler:kill Ashfur and save her dignity]]. She takes it.
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Completely loses her mind and [[spoiler:''kills a cat''.]]
* WrongGenreSavvy: In ''Power of Three'', her beliefs are that the world is [[BlackAndWhiteMorality composed of only pure good and pure evil]], that following the rules will always lead you on the right path, and that [=StarClan=] is wise and all-knowing. It's just too bad she was in a LowFantasy instead of a HighFantasy.

----
* AccidentalMurder: Near the end of ''Fading Echoes'', [[spoiler:Lionblaze tries to pull Russetfur off of Firestar during the battle, but somehow accidentally kills her instead. He also does this in ''Veil of Shadows'', where he accidentally kills Harestar while fighting him.]]

** [[RunningGag Except at climbing]].
* ActionHero: His special ability of invincibility mandates that he be the most fighting-oriented character in the series.
* AmbiguouslyEvil: From ''Outcast'' on, the ''Power of Three'' arc has him veering dangerously close to being a villain, and it isn't clear which side he'll end up on. He ultimately manages to become a hero, however.
* AntiHero: His selfishness and love of battle make him this in ''Power of Three'' and for a good deal of ''OmenOfTheStars'', but he eventually becomes a true hero due to his relationship with Cinderheart.
* TheApprentice: To Ashfur.
* BackToBackBadasses: With Dovewing in ''The Last Hope'', during [[spoiler:the Dark Forest's second assault on [=ThunderClan=].]]

* BloodSplatteredWarrior: At the end of ''Outcast'', he returns from battle covered in blood, none of which is his own.
* BreakTheHaughty: He starts off fairly arrogant but goes through a lot of suffering, which contributes to his CharacterDevelopment.
* BrokenAce: He may be great at pretty much everything, but once Cinderheart and Tigerstar show him his vulnerable mind, he starts breaking down.
* BrokenPedestal: At first he thinks that Tigerstar is a great warrior, but then he realizes what kind of cat he really is.
* BroughtDownToNormal: In ''Bramblestar's Storm''. He doesn't take this too well, for he's tripping over stuff and getting hurt or going into battle, forgetting that he can get hurt now.
* CainAndAbel: In ''The Fourth Apprentice'', [[spoiler:his half-brother Breezepelt joins the Dark Forest]] and they become enemies.
* ChildhoodFriendRomance: Gets together with Cinderheart, who he'd known for a long time.

* TheExile: In ''The Silent Thaw'' [[spoiler:he gets banished from the camp for a quarter moon after accidentally crossing the [=WindClan=] border. He and Jayfeather later get exiled by the impostor in ''Veil of Shadows'' for their mixed heritage, which, unsurprisingly, the brothers don't take very well.]]
* FaceYourFears: In ''Long Shadows'', [[spoiler:he goes to [=WindClan=] territory to fetch some catmint and meets up with Heathertail again, but he manages to change the result of his nightmarish visions by not killing her.]]

* {{Forgiveness}}: He's the last of the Three to truly forgive Leafpool and Squirrelflight.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Choleric.
* FreudianTrio:
** In ''Power of Three'' he was the Id to Jayfeather's Ego and Hollyleaf's Superego.
** In ''Omen of the Stars'' he was the Id to Jayfeather's Superego and Dovewing's Ego.
* GentleGiant: He's big and tough, but he's also quite soft, especially with Cinderheart.

* HeroicBastard: He's the kit of [[spoiler:a [=ThunderClan=] medicine cat and a [=WindClan=] warrior.]]
* HotBlooded: In ''Power of Three'', he starts out completely in love with battle. It dies down during ''Omen of the Stars''.
* HumbleHero: By the end of ''Omen of the Stars'' he has become one. In later arcs he appears to have mellowed out and matured more.
* IJustWantToBeNormal: To a lesser extent. He even sympathizes with Dovewing's situation in ''The Fourth Apprentice''.
* IllKillYou: [[spoiler:In ''Darkness Within'' Ashfur taunts Lionblaze, which gets him worked up enough to tell Ashfur that he's going to kill him, and to attack him.]]
* IWasHavingSuchANiceDream: Cloudtail interrupts one of his dreams to make him go on water patrol in ''The Fourth Apprentice''.
* IWishedYouWereDead: To Heathertail at the end of ''Eclipse''. She doesn't actually die, but Lionblaze spends the majority of the rest of the next book being tortured by nightmares about killing her.
* JerkassRealization: [[spoiler: After succeeding Squirrelflight as acting leader in ''The Place of No Stars'', Lionblaze in a fit of anger comments that he should have killed Shadowsight after the medicine cat helps Ashfur escape, only to realize immediately after that he had taken it too far. Other cats' comments about his temper and impulsive decision making make him also realize that he isn't the leader they need to deal with the situation at hand and steps down for Graystripe.]]
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Like his brother, he can be arrogant and selfish but in the end, he'll do anything to protect his Clan.

* LittleNo: In ''Sunrise'', when [[BigBad Tigerstar]] asks [[TheBigGuy Lionblaze]] if he is going to kill him, Lionblaze replies, "No. You're already dead." [[spoiler:He then leaves the Dark Forest forever, proving to Tigerstar that he wasn't going to let himself fall to the level of the villains.]]

* MidSeasonUpgrade: Awakens his power at the end of ''Outcast'', about halfway through the ''Power of Three'' arc.

* NighInvulnerability: He can't be hurt in battle because of his power.
* NightmareDreams: Later on in the ''Power of Three', he dreams of brutally murdering Heathertail.
* NoJustNoReaction: When trying to figure out which cats are training in the Dark Forest, he gets to Whitewing. His thoughts immediately become, "Never. Just... never."
* NotHisBlood:
** In ''Outcast'' he comes out of a rough battle completely covered in blood. His siblings panic, assuming that he's badly injured, and are shocked to discover that none of it is his own.
** Jayfeather finds Lionblaze covered in blood during the eclipse battle, but none of it ends up being his.
** In ''Night Whispers'', Cinderheart freaks out after Lionblaze fights a fox, because he's covered in blood and she thinks he's badly wounded and dying. Due to his power, he's not even injured; it was all the fox's blood.
* NumberTwo: [[spoiler:He becomes acting deputy under Squirrelflight's acting leadership at the end of ''Veil of Shadows''. He also becomes Graystripe's acting deputy in ''The Place of No Stars'' after Lionblaze steps down from leadership for the elder, with Graystripe outright saying that he'd like for Lionblaze to continue being deputy.]]
* OddNameOut: [[spoiler:Of his siblings, he is the only one who does not share a name with either of their biological parents, although the "-blaze" part of his name appears to be in tribute to their grandfather, Firestar.]]
* ObliviousAdoption: In ''Long Shadows'', [[spoiler:it's revealed that Lionblaze and his siblings were never the kits of Brambleclaw and Squirrelflight to begin with.]]
* ObliviousToLove: In ''Dark River'' he seems oblivious not only to Heatherpaw's feelings towards him but to his own feelings towards her. He only ever refers to their bond as "friendship" despite the clear romance between them. Being StarcrossedLovers from different clans, their romance wasn't meant to be so it ended before it began.
* OfficialCouple: With Cinderheart.
* OneManArmy: He can easily accomplish things (such as taking out a fox) that would be very difficult for a whole patrol to do.
* OOCIsSeriousBusiness: Not from Lionblaze himself, but he has reacted this way to others.
** In ''The Fourth Apprentice'', when he returns to the lake and Blackstar courteously invites him into [=ShadowClan=] camp, he asks, "Who are you and what have you done with Blackstar?"
** At the beginning of ''Fading Echoes'', he learns that Jayfeather [[spoiler:broke his much cherished stick.]] He flips out and immediately goes to have a talk with Jayfeather to see if he's okay.
* OpposedMentors: Ashfur is his [=ThunderClan=] mentor, while Tigerstar and Hawkfrost mentor him in the Dark Forest. [[spoiler:All three turn out to be his enemies.]]
* PersonOfMassDestruction: His power allows him mastery on the field of battle.
* PunctuatedForEmphasis: "You. Are. Talking. Feathers!"
* PuppyLove: With Heathertail in ''Dark River'', back when they were young apprentices. At first they become friends who sneak away to see each other at night, before realizing they have actual feelings for one another.
* RageAgainstTheMentor:
** [[spoiler:After finding out the Ashfur is evil]] in ''Long Shadows''.
** In ''Sunrise'', [[spoiler:he finally turns on his EvilMentor Tigerstar and beats him to near-death.]]
** [[spoiler: In ''Darkness Within'', Lionblaze confronts Ashfur (who is currently possessing Bramblestar's body) and condemns him for his actions before trying to kill his former mentor, almost succeeding until he was stopped by Shadowsight. He also becomes noticeably more aggressive and angry when trying to deal with Ashfur, fully wishing to kill him and even stating as such.]]
* RedOniBlueOni: The red to Hollyleaf's blue.
* {{Reincarnation}}: It's revealed that he's [[spoiler:the reincarnation of Lion's Roar, an ancient cat.]]
* RuggedScar: He mentions how he wants one of these during ''Dark River''. At one point he gets injured in a battle and hopes that his wound leaves a scar to prove how well that he fought.
* ScrewDestiny: After [[spoiler:Cinderheart leaves him because he's one of the Three,]] he decides he doesn't want to be bound by his destiny.
* SecretKeeper: The prophecy, and [[spoiler:Hollyleaf killing Ashfur]].
* SharedFamilyQuirks: Both he and Jayfeather can be ''very'' tempermental and sarcastic.
* SmartBall: Holds it for the first half of ''The Forgotten Warrior'', where he figures out that [[spoiler:Birchfall]] is training in the Dark Forest, instinctively knows that [[spoiler:Dovewing's power has come back]], and is able to see through, but not counter, Sol's manipulations.
* SmugSuper: He acts this way when he learns about his powers. Thanks to the magic of CharacterDevelopment, he becomes more humble.
* SneakyDeparture: In ''Dark River'' Lionpaw and Heatherpaw are constantly sneaking away at night to meet each other. Later in the same book, after three [=WindClan=] kits go missing almost leading to a war between [=ThunderClan=] and [=WindClan=], two separate groups composed on Lionpaw, Hollypaw, and Jaypaw, and Breezepaw and Heatherpaw sneak away to find the kits.
* SociopathicHero: He thought he was this when [[spoiler:Tigerstar sent him dreams of killing Heathertail.]]
* StarCrossedLovers: To Heathertail, since they're from different Clans. It ultimately doesn't work out.
* StrongFamilyResemblance: His pelt resembles his grandmother, Sandstorm.
* SuperStrength: There are two parts to his ability as part of the Power of Three. The second part gives him a ridiculous amount of strength. In ''Fading Echoes'', he uses this power to [[spoiler:lift a tree off of Briarlight and Longtail.]]
* ThrowingTheFight: In ''The Last Hope'', he tries to prove that his destiny doesn't control him by [[spoiler:letting some [=ShadowClan=] warriors beat him in a fight.]]
* TimeStandsStill: There are two parts to his ability as part of the Power of Three. The first part slows down time, allowing him to see what moves other cats are using, then properly counter them.
* UnskilledButStrong: In ''Power of Three'', due to the fact that he hasn't trained to use his power. He grows out of this during the TimeSkip, where he fully masters his power.
* UnstoppableRage: His NighInvulnerability first manifests when he gets pissed off at the end of ''Outcast'', leading to a literal unstoppable rage.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With his brother Jayfeather as they get older. The two will argue constantly (in some cases Jayfeather will just blatantly insult him) but deep down, they do genuinely care and stick together.
* WhatHaveIBecome: In ''Eclipse'', after he [[spoiler:nearly kills Heathertail and Crowfeather]], he realizes how dangerously unhinged he's becoming and struggles with whether he will become a villain or hero.
* WhatTheHellHero: In ''The Place of No Stars'', he yells at [[spoiler:Tigerstar for trying to smuggle away Shadowsight, who is their only lead on Ashfur.]]
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Was incredibly terrified of [=WindClan=] territory in ''Long Shadows'', [[spoiler:because he was afraid that he would see Heathertail again and kill her.]]
* WorkingWithTheEx: In ''Dark River'', he had to work together with Heathertail to find some missing kits.
* WorldsStrongestMan: Thanks to his invincibility.
* YouAreNotAlone: To Cinderheart in ''The Last Hope''.

The protagonist of the fourth series. She is the true third cat with the power of the stars. She has extremely acute senses that can easily hear and smell things from miles away.
----
* TheAce: At hunting, due to her Super Senses.
* TheApprentice: To Lionblaze in the first half of ''Omen of the Stars''.
* BackToBackBadasses: With Lionblaze in ''The Last Hope'', during [[spoiler:the Dark Forest's second attack on [=ThunderClan=].]]
* BattleCouple: With [[spoiler:Bumblestripe]] in ''The Last Hope''.
* BlessedWithSuck: Her powers don't really help in the middle of a battle, or when she's around Twolegs with all the noise they make.
* BreakUpMakeUpScenario: In ''The Last Hope'', [[spoiler:she and Bumblestripe realize that their relationship isn't working out, and they break up. They get back together at the end of the book, because being apart has made them realize that they do care for each other... at least until ''Bramblestar's Storm''.]]
* BroughtDownToNormal: She loses her power sometime in between ''Sign of the Moon'' and ''The Forgotten Warrior'' for unknown reasons, but gets it back later.
** This [[spoiler:happens permanently]] in "Bramblestar's Storm", and out of the Three, she takes it the worst of all.
* CainAndAbel: [[spoiler:Ivypaw gets jealous of the attention Dovepaw is getting and is tricked into joining forces with the Dark Forest. This was averted later though.]]
* ChekhovsGunman: The biggest one in the series. (Spoilers up to ''Sign of the Moon''.) [[spoiler:She was first introduced in ''Long Shadows'' as the sister of Jayfeather's previous incarnation. Then she got reincarnated in ''Sunrise'', and revealed as the true third in ''The Fourth Apprentice''. Following that, Jayfeather needed to find her past incarnation again in ''Sign of the Moon'' to complete the Power of Three for The Ancients. And that's just the short version.]]
* ConvertingForLove: [[spoiler:Previous main characters involved in forbidden inter-Clan romances had chosen to keep their relationships (and the parentages of their kits, if they had any) secret while still remaining in their Clans. 442* FamilyThemeNaming: Shares the "-wing" suffix with her mother Whitewing.
* FightsLikeANormal: She has powers, but they're actually a ''hindrance'' in battle more than anything.
* FlashbackNightmare: She has one about [[spoiler:Rippletail's]] death in ''Fading Echoes''.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Sanguine.
* FreudianTrio: In ''Omen of the Stars'' she was the Ego to Lionblaze's Id and Jayfeather's Superego.
* GenkiGirl: She's filled with infinite energy, but only early on in the ''Omen of the Stars'' arc.
* GoodParents: [[spoiler:She is a caring mother to Shadowsight, comforting him when he's scared, often giving him advice and always trying her best to answer his questions.]]
* TheHero: The main character of ''OmenOfTheStars''.
* HeroicBSOD: Goes through one in ''The Last Hope'' when she [[spoiler:finds out that there's a Fourth cat in the prophecy. This is because she thinks that the presence of a Fourth means that she was a terrible Third and couldn't save anyone.]]
* IJustWantToBeNormal: After learning that [[spoiler:her senses are actually part of an ancient prophecy,]] she begins pining for normality.
* IThoughtEveryoneCouldDoThat: She thought everyone [[spoiler:had senses as acute as hers.]]
* ItsNotYouItsMe: She dishes this out on Bumblestripe in ''Bramblestar's Storm''. She [[spoiler:broke up with him because she still loved her last mate, Tigerheart, and legitimately felt bad for stringing him along for so long.]]
* ItsProbablyNothing: In ''The Forgotten Warrior'', Tigerheart warns her that Dawnpelt [[spoiler:believes that Jayfeather killed Flametail]], but she brushes it off as nothing several times. Near the climax of the book, [[spoiler:Dawnpelt accuses Jayfeather of the murder at a Gathering, causing an uproar and making many Clan cats hate Jayfeather.]]
* IWasNamedMyName: Her name as a [=ThunderClan=] warrior is almost exactly the same as when [[spoiler:she was an Ancient.]]
* KidHero: She's an apprentice for half of ''Omen of the Stars'', but she goes on a quest to save the Clans.
* LastEpisodeNewCharacter: Introduced at the end of ''Sunrise'' as the main character of the next arc.
* MoralityPet: [[spoiler:She's this for Tigerheart.]]
* MySecretPregnancy: [[spoiler:She hides her pregnancy from her Clan in the sixth series, since the father is from another Clan.]]
* MundaneUtility: [[spoiler:What's a great use for your SuperSenses? Finding out when your crush is leaving for your meetings so that you can beat him there.]]
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: In ''The Last Hope'', [[spoiler:she wakes up Ivypool before she can see the Dark Forest's attack plans, causing the Clans to lose a strategical advantage.]]
* TheNoseKnows: Thanks to her SuperSenses, she can smell cats across the lake. [[spoiler:This power was revoked after the Dark Forest battle like the rest of her power.]]
* OfficialCouple: With [[spoiler:Bumblestripe.]]
** [[spoiler:However, they end up breaking up in ''Bramblestar's Storm''.]]

* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Gives one to Ivypool in ''Night Whispers'' when her sister pushes way too many [[BerserkButton Berserk Buttons]].
* RedeemingReplacement: The cat originally thought to be [[spoiler:the Third pulled a FaceHeelTurn (until she turned good again). Dovewing is a solid hero.]]
* {{Reincarnation}}: In ''Sign of the Moon'', [[spoiler:it is revealed that she is the reincarnation of Dove's Wing, one of the Ancients.]]
* RememberWhenYouBlewUpASun: A variation. In ''Thunder and Shadow'', she freaks out upon hearing that a group of hostile rogues have been spotted in Clan territory, because her sister Ivypool is out hunting with Fernsong and is unaware of the threat. She is quickly reassured when someone points out that if Ivypool could [[{{Hell}} survive the Dark Forest,]] [[ActionGirl she'd have no problem handling a couple of rogues.]]
* ResignedToTheCall: She feels this way and pines for [[IJustWantToBeNormal normality]].
* SecretRelationship: [[spoiler:In ''Omen of the Stars'' she and Tigerheart of [=ShadowClan=] start seeing each other in secret. They break it off in ''The Last Hope''... only to start up again in ''A Vision of Shadows'' where Dovewing decides to move to [=ShadowClan=] to be with her mate.]]
* SensoryOverload: When [[spoiler:she goes to the mountains]] in ''Sign of the Moon'', there are too many new scents and sights, nearly causing her to have a breakdown.
* SiblingRivalry: A major storyline in ''Night Whispers'' is her rivalry with Ivypool after the sisters grew progressively more distant in ''The Fourth Apprentice'' and ''Fading Echoes''. [[spoiler:They make up at the end of the book.]]
* StrongFamilyResemblance: She looks just like her sister Ivypool, just missing the white splotches on her pelt.
* SuckSessor: Jayfeather and Lionblaze see her as this to [[spoiler:Hollyleaf, who they thought was the third cat in the prophecy]].
* SuperHearing: The main aspect of Dovewing's power. [[spoiler:This power was revoked after her prophecy had been fulfilled.]]
* SuperSenses: They're her power [[spoiler:as the third cat in the prophecy.]]
* SuspiciouslySpecificDenial: In ''Night Whispers'', [[spoiler:Tigerheart asks her how she always manages to get to their meeting place first. Dovewing mutters back that she [[BlatantLies totally doesn't listen for when he leaves his nest]].]]
* TokenGoodTeammate: Out of Lionblaze, Jayfeather, Ivypool, and Hollyleaf, she's the least dysfunctional.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Girly girl to Ivypool's Tomboy, due to the fact that she is much more romantic and does not like fighting.
* TookALevelInBadass: In ''The Forgotten Warrior'', [[spoiler:as a result of losing her powers, she is able to focus on her warrior skills without being distracted. She even gets to keep this extra badassery after getting her powers back.]]
* UnreliableNarrator: In ''The Last Hope'', she hallucinates [[spoiler:Firestar walking away unharmed from his battle with Tigerstar.]]
* WalkingSpoiler: It's pretty much impossible to discuss her without revealing that [[spoiler:she's the true Third cat in the prophecy.]]

Dovewing's sister, and a fourth series protagonist. She is stuck in Dovewing's shadow, causing her to develop serious jealousy issues while everyone fawns over her sister. During the events of ''Omen of the Stars'', she is recruited by the Dark Forest. After serving as their pawn for a while, she eventually learns the truth about them and becomes a spy, unearthing their secrets to aide the three.
----
* ActionGirl: As with pretty much all female characters.
* AlwaysSecondBest: To Dovewing, who is TheChosenOne and has a special gift from [=StarClan=] while Ivypool is just an ordinary warrior.
* AntiHero: She's a loner (as far as any good Clan cat can be), she works with the villains for a long time, and she [[spoiler:kills, though she doesn't enjoy it.]]
* ApologizesALot: In ''The Fourth Apprentice'', she was constantly apologizing, even for things that weren't her fault.
* TheApprentice: To Cinderheart, her eventual mother-in-law.
* BeneathTheMask: Acts stoic in [=ThunderClan=], [[spoiler:evil in the Dark Forest, and irritable towards the three. In reality, she's horrified by what she's done and what the Dark Forest has done, and would gladly sacrifice herself to change the fates of the Dark Forest trainees.]]
* BreakTheCutie: She starts out as an innocent she-cat, but is eventually [[spoiler:exposed to to the evil of the Dark Forest, and is forced to commit murder to survive.]]
* BrokenPedestal: At first, she adored [[spoiler:the Dark Forest cats, but then she learned that they only wanted her so that they could destroy the Clans.]]
* CainAndAbel: [[spoiler:She gets jealous of the attention Dovepaw is getting and is tricked into joining forces with the Dark Forest. This was averted later though.]]
* CoolTeacher: Twigpaw certainly believes she's one. Twigpaw often thinks about how lucky she is to have Ivypool as a mentor.
* CrashIntoHello: How she first meets [[spoiler:Mapleshade. Mapleshade does not respond well to this and attacks her.]]
* DarkActionGirl: [[spoiler: During Fading Echoes and Night Whispers.]]
* DarkIsNotEvil: Yes, she's [[spoiler:a Dark Forest warrior.]] But she's also a solid hero.
* DeadpanSnarker: Her inner thoughts tend towards blunt commentary on the stupidity of cats around her. Some examples are, "[=WindClan=] cats aren't ''completely'' mouse-brained" and "You don't think I'd walk into a fox's den to get [fresh fox dung], do you?" from ''The Forgotten Warrior''.
* DeathSeeker: She fully believes that she'll end up dead somewhere down the line, due to [[spoiler:spying in the Dark Forest.]] She's surprisingly okay with it.
* DistressedDamsel: Near the ending of ''Night Whispers''.
* FaceHeelRevolvingDoor
* {{Foil}}: To her sister, Dovewing.
* FourTemperamentEnsemble: Phlegmatic.
* GreenEyedMonster: In ''The Fourth Apprentice'', she's jealous that Dovewing got to go on a mission to defeat the beavers. [[spoiler:This jealousy leads to her joining the Dark Forest in ''Fading Echoes'', but in ''Night Whispers'' she stops after learning the truth about her sister.]]
* GuileHero: From the end of ''Night Whispers'' and onward.
* HeelRealization: In ''Night Whispers'', [[spoiler:she realizes that the Dark Forest are evil when she sees Tigerstar plotting to destroy the Clans.]]
* HometownNickname: In ''Night Whispers'' she is kidnapped by a [=ShadowClan=] patrol and held prisoner in their camp. There, a group of [=ShadowClan=] kits give her the nickname "Thundercat".
* HostageForMcGuffin: In ''Night Whispers'' [[spoiler:she is held hostage by [=ShadowClan=] and is released in exchange for catmint.]]
* IJustWantToBeSpecial: In ''Fading Echoes'', she is jealous of the attention Dovewing is getting. [[spoiler:Hawkfrost is able to draw her into the Dark Forest because she wants to be as special as her sister.]]
* TheInfiltration: Her story in the second half of ''Omen of the Stars'' is about [[spoiler:infiltrating the Dark Forest.]]
* InnocentBlueEyes: She's good at the core, despite doing a lot of morally wrong or questionable things.
* IWasHavingSuchAnImportantDream: In ''The Last Hope'', she's just about to see [[spoiler:the Dark Forest's attack plans, but Dovewing]] wakes her up before she can.
* KidHero: [[spoiler:Starts working with the Three]] when she's still just an apprentice.
* KlingonPromotion: To become [[spoiler:a Dark Forest warrior, she needed to kill another Dark Forest warrior, Antpelt]].
* TheLancer: Her darker, anti-hero tendencies contrast with her best friend and sister Dovewing's more soft-hearted behaviour.
* LaResistance: [[spoiler:Actually manages to organize one]] in ''The Last Hope'', after considering doing so in ''The Forgotten Warrior''.
* MasculineGirlFeminineBoy: Ivypool is a she-cat and one of the toughest fighters in the Clan, who survived literal TrainingFromHell, while Fernsong is a gentler tom. Ivypool wasn't certain about having kits since she didn't want to spend a whole six moons in the nursery, but they decided that once the kits were weaned, Fernsong would move into the nursery to take over their care until they became apprentices. Fernsong's name is also often considered feminine by fans, since both halves of it have been used more often for female characters.
* TheMentor: To Snowbush and Twigbranch.
* TheMole: At the end of ''Night Whispers'', [[spoiler:she becomes a spy for the Three in the Dark Forest.]]
* MySisterIsOffLimits: A rare sister variation. In ''Omen of the Stars'', she is strongly opposed to Tigerheart's advances towards her sister Dovewing, although this mostly has to do with the [[StarCrossedLovers political and social dynamics of the situation]], as well as their rocky history. She's determined to protect her sister from the humiliation and heartbreak such a relationship would bring.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero:
** In ''Fading Echoes'', [[spoiler:by carrying Tigerstar's message to [=ThunderClan=], she weakens two Clans and causes the rift in [=StarClan=].]]
** Remember how the end of ''Night Whispers'' had her [[spoiler:nearly kill Flametail?]] That comes back to bite the Clans in ''The Last Hope'', when [[spoiler:Flametail decides to kill Jayfeather partially because of Ivypool's actions.]]
* NotSoDifferentRemark: Breezepelt tries to pull this on her in ''The Last Hope''.
* NumberTwo: [[spoiler:She becomes [=ThunderClan=]'s new deputy under Squirrelstar during ''Thunder''.]]
* OfficialCouple: With Fernsong.
* OutlivingOnesOffspring: [[spoiler:Her daughter Bristlefrost dies in the most tragic way possible by drowning in the Dark Forest waters and having her spirit disappear forever.]]
* PragmaticHero: She'll do whatever it takes to protect [=ThunderClan=], [[spoiler:even if it means murdering an innocent medicine cat.]]
* RedHerring: ''The Last Hope'' spoilers: [[spoiler:She isn't the Fourth cat, despite what Dovewing thinks.]]
* TheResenter: She was originally jealous of all the attention Dovewing has been getting from the older warriors and Firestar himself...[[spoiler:though she's never realized her sister's powers yet.]] When she's told the truth, she's not happy at first about being lied to, but then she promises to help Dovewing out whenever she can.
* SecretKeeper: Her knowledge of [[spoiler:The Three, and the Dark Forest recruits.]]
* ShipperOnDeck: In ''The Forgotten Warrior'', [[spoiler:she is pleased that Dovewing is with Bumblestripe, because she thinks Bumblestripe is "much better than mangy Tigerheart".]]
* ShipTease: In ''Thunder and Shadow'', Ivypool gets this with Fernsong on more than one occasion.
* SiblingRivalry: With Dovewing.
* TheSpock: Develops into this around the end of ''Night Whispers'', when she realizes that [[spoiler:only by being logical can she survive to protect the Clans.]]
* TheStoic: She acts like this around other [=ThunderClan=] warriors, [[spoiler:but it's only a ruse to avoid unnecessary friendships.]]
* StrongFamilyResemblance: She looks just like her sister Dovewing, except Ivypool's pelt has white splotches.
* SuccessfulSiblingSyndrome: She felt invisible and useless compared to Dovewing, her sister, who was getting all the attention and doing all the heroic stuff. Her insecurities over this drove her to [[spoiler:join the Dark Forest and train with Hawkfrost]], and she took chances to criticize and insult her sister in order to make herself look superior. The two sisters did make up eventually, but not after a lot of SiblingRivalry and moral issues to overcome.
* SurvivorsGuilt: In ''Dovewing's Silence'', she confesses that she feels horrible about surviving when [[spoiler:Hollyleaf died, and it should have been her instead.]]
* TheTeamNormal: She becomes the only core member of Jayfeather's group who [[spoiler:doesn't have powers.]] However, as of ''The Forgotten Warrior'', [[spoiler:Hollyleaf's return]] means that she isn't the only normal one anymore.
* TookALevelInJerkass: A temporary one in ''Fading Echoes'' and ''Night Whispers''.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Tomboy to Dovepaw's Girly Girl, due mostly to her love of fighting.
* {{Tuckerization}}: She was named after Vicky's friend's daughter, Ivy Poole.
* TheUnchosenOne: She is not part of the prophecy, but still fights alongside the three.
* VillainProtagonist: In ''Fading Echoes'' and ''Night Whispers''.
* WaifFu: She might be a small and slender cat, but thanks to her determination, efficient use of her agility and [[spoiler:the training she received from the Dark Forest]] she is one of the most skilled fighters in the Clans.
* WalkingSpoiler: The whole matter of how she [[spoiler:joins the Dark Forest, but later gains her redemption]] opens a can of spoilery worms.
* WelcomeBackTraitor: She is [[spoiler:lured into joining the Dark Forest, and even helps guide the Clan into an unnecessary battle that results in a [=ShadowClan=] death and Firestar [[CatsHaveNineLives losing one of his nine leader's lives]]. However, once she realizes that they're actually plotting to destroy the Clans and repents, she is welcomed back to the side of the heroes.]]
* YourApprovalFillsMeWithShame: In ''The Forgotten Warrior'', her thoughts on [[spoiler:Brokenstar's comment that she is a true Dark Forest warrior]] are, "That's the worst thing any cat could say to me!"

* AmnesiacDissonance: In an odd way. She was never evil, but [[spoiler: her past as a medicine cat conflicts with her present life as a warrior.]]
* TheApprentice: To Cloudtail.
* BabiesEverAfter: She and [[spoiler:Lionblaze]] had kits after the events of ''The Last Hope''.
* CharacterTics: She has a special paw twitch when she cleans herself. She shares it with her previous incarnation, Cinderpelt.

* DueToTheDead: She and Lionblaze name their first litter after Hollyleaf, Ferncloud, and Sorreltail.
* FamilyThemeNaming: She names all the kits in her first litter after someone famous. This is also how she got her name.
* TheFatalist: Becomes one in ''The Last Hope'', [[spoiler:saying that she can't be Lionblaze's mate because it would "interfere with their destinies". Fortunately, Lionblaze snaps her out of it.]]
* GenerationXerox:
** Like her previous incarnation Cinderheart, she injures her leg. Thanks to the work and Jayfeather and Leafpool however, she manages to defy her past self and become a warrior.
** She had to wait longer than her twin sisters Honeyfern and Poppyfrost to become a warrior because of her injuries. Her mother Sorreltail also became a warrior later than her twin brothers for the same reason.

* PastLifeMemories: She retains some of Cinderpelt's memories, which slip into her head sometimes.
* RedHerring: She isn't [[spoiler:the Fourth]], but was thought to be by some fans.
* {{Reincarnation}}: She's Cinderpelt, back from the dead to fulfill her dream of being a warrior. As of ''The Last Hope'', [[spoiler:she is completely her own self, as Cinderpelt's spirit leaves her and joins [=StarClan=]]].
* SettleForSibling: A variation. Her previous self, Cinderpelt, had a crush on Firestar, and Cinderheart eventually becomes mates with his grandson, Lionblaze.

* WhatTheHellHero: She calls out Hollyleaf for [[spoiler:revealing Leafpool's secret at the Gathering]] in ''Sunrise'', saying that all this just leads to more misery. This was most likely Cinderpelt talking.
** In ''The Last Hope'', she scolds Lionblaze for picking a fight with Ratscar and [[ThrowingTheFight deliberately being beaten by him]], saying that he's trying to avoid his destiny.
* YouCantFightFate: Decides this after [[spoiler:learning of her past as Cinderpelt.]]
* YouRemindMeOfX: In ''The Sight'', Brackenfur tells her how much she seems like Cinderpelt, his sister and her pre-incarnation.
