Team Sonic are the protectors of Hedgehog Village. While this group of five friends may have their differences and occasional disagreements, they're still close-knit and always come together to save the day.
------
* ArmedFemalesUnarmedMales: Team Sonic consists of three guys (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles) and [[TwoGirlsToATeam two girls]] (Amy and Sticks). Amy uses her signature hammer, while Sticks uses a variety of weapons including a staff, a club and a [[BattleBoomerang boomerang]]. Among the boys, only Tails uses weapons.
* {{Badbutt}}: They routinely fight off Eggman's robots, giant monsters, and ancient evils, but retain a light-hearted and family-friendly tone throughout the series.
* DancingIsSeriousBusiness: If you overpower them in the first half of a soccer game, they'll Music/MichaelJackson you before the second half to bite back and make you regret your actions. The Eggman-hypnotized Team Cybonic learn this the hard way in "Victory".
* FiveManBand: Team Sonic is the main opponent of Doctor Eggman's multiple attacks against the village. Led by famous speedster Sonic the Hedgehog, the team is bolstered by tech genius Tails, dumb muscle Knuckles, voice of reason Amy Rose, and total wildcard Sticks. Multiple episodes showcase the disasters that happen when members of the team go off on their own, ending with the team reuniting and ending Eggman's scheme of the day.
* MixedAnimalSpeciesTeam: The typical Team Sonic from the main-series games (Sonic, Tails, and Knuckles) remains intact while also adding Amy Rose and [[CanonForeigner Sticks the Badger]] as members.
* {{Not So Above It All}}s: Played straight and zig-zagged most of the time in season one of the show. Aside from the [[DumbMuscle obviously moronic]] Knuckles and the obviously immature [[TheSpeedster Sonic]], the so-called smart characters who make themselves seem sensible and whatnot such as [[ScienceHero Tails]] and [[TheHeart Amy]] in season one of the show were also lacking common sense in situations, much to the point that Eggman once pointed this out in the episode "Multi-Tails".
* ThePiratesWhoDontDoAnything: While they'll battle anything Eggman-related that comes their way, all they really want to do is hang out for a while. Played straight in "Mister Eggman" when Eggman's rubber gasket heist gets out of hand:
--> '''Sonic:''' Can we go back to drag racing? Catching rings is boring.
* ProtagonistWithoutAPast: There were plans for ''Rise of Lyric'' to involve exploring the backstory of Sonic and pals, but it went nowhere. As such, none of the main characters have a clear backstory with the exception of Sticks.
** Knuckles also gets hints of a backstory in season two, as it's revealed he is the LastOfHisKind and comes from Angel Island, but other than sharing his main counterpart's origin, this is never brought upon in the series.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Amy (Girly Girl) and Sticks (Tomboy).
* TrueCompanions: The five are really close friends, and they spend most of their downtime hanging out together, goofing off, or enjoying a meal at Meh Burger (or trying to, anyway). Their bond has gotten to the point that the other members of the team consider themselves Knuckles' family, and even in the rare event that they split apart from conflict with each other or other means, they always reconcile and reunite, just as strong as before.
* TwoGirlsToATeam: Amy and Sticks as the female members of Team Sonic.
* VitriolicBestBuds: Mainly in season one, where they are loyal friends and also present many times where they seemed like they hate each other at times, mainly because of the gang grabbing a ton of {{Jerkass Ball}}s for humor or not.

!!Sonic the Hedgehog
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sonic_boom_sonic_cgi.png]]
[[caption-width-right:350:''Being a role-model is overrated. I'd much rather be hilariously edgy.'']]
-->Voiced By: Creator/RogerCraigSmith (English), Creator/JunichiKanemaru (Japanese)

As you'd expect from a team named after him, Sonic is the spearhead of the bunch. He may have a smart remark for many occasions and tends to be a bit egotistical, but he's always willing to use his superhuman speed and signature Spin Attacks to lead his friends into battle and protect the innocent from evil of all kinds.
----
* AdaptationDyeJob: His arms are blue here, while they're skin-colored in the main series.
* AdaptationalJerkass: [[DownplayedTrope While he's still a largely pleasant guy overall]], he is more arrogant, rude, sarcastic, and prone to making remarks at times compared to his main series counterpart. This is due to the comedic nature of ''Boom'', turning Sonic into a more flawed character rather than the almost flawless IdealHero he is in the mainstream series.
* ArchEnemy:
** To Eggman. They have fought for a long time, with Eggman biggest desire after building a theme park is to defeat him. Apparently, they have fought for so long Eggman lost his hair in the process.
---> '''Eggman:''' When Sonic and I first met, it was HateAtFirstSight. Now, as I stand here, my hair full of hair...wow, how long did I write this?
%%** To Lyric in ''Rise of Lyric''.
* BadassesWearBandanas: He wears a neckerchief and is undeniably badass.
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: He's a rare male example of the "Beauty" to Tails' Brains and Knuckles' Brawn.
* BeingGoodSucks: Going hand-in-hand with DudeWheresMyRespect below; no matter how much good he does, the villagers always seem prepared to believe the worst in him and turn on him at a moment's notice. This reaches a head in "Just a Guy," where he launches into a rant over it and ultimately goes into a TenMinuteRetirement:
-->'''Sonic''': You know what I think is "compassionate?" Saving the village from Eggman! Like, every week! But do I get any props for that? No! Everyone just goes around gasping at me whenever I call a guy a "guy," or people "people!" I quit heroing! And I quit this stupid group!
* BerserkButton: ''Don't'' say that you're faster than he is.
* BigBrotherInstinct: As per usual with most versions of Sonic, he is very protective and caring towards Tails. In fact in the first episode he's a bit too over-protective towards Tails and "fires" him for his own good.
* BigThinShortTrio: The Thin to Knuckles' Big and Tails' Short.
* BloodKnight: Sonic loves a good, risky challenge and fighting Eggman and his robots. Deconstructed in "Aim Low"; when Eggman gets depressed over his constant failures and stops enacting evil plans, Sonic quickly ends up bored, listless, and paranoid, driving his friends so crazy that they decide they ''have'' to re-motivate Eggman back to doing evil just so they can have some peace and quiet.
* BrutalHonesty: When fed up with Eggman being TheThingThatWouldNotLeave in "Can an Evil Genius...", he does ''not'' try to hide it:
-->'''Sonic''': How do I say this delicately? You're a horrible roommate and nobody in this house likes you.\
'''Amy''': Let's frame our statements with "When you do this, it makes me feel this."\
'''Sonic''': Fine, okay. Uh, let's see... When you... live here... it makes me... feel angry... because you're a horrible roommate and nobody in this house likes you.
* CantGetAwayWithNuthin: he saves the world on a repeated basis and gets a varied level of gratitude for it, and yet often cosmic forces or sometimes even his friends or the people he saves will jump at the chance to scold him and lecture him if he is even the slightest bit crude or smug about it. He vigorously lampshades this in one relentless case and quits helping anymore, turning the trope in his favour since things go near ''instantly'' haywire without him around. Also, Knuckles and Amy often act disrespectful to “him” and usually get away with it.
* ChickMagnet: Amy is secretly in love with him, a crowd of girls swoon over him when he does his guitar solo in Battle Of The Boy Bands, and the bandicoot twins both take an interest in him in Mech Suits Me.
* CollectorOfTheStrange: Coconut husks, as revealed in "Fortress of Squalitude".
* CommitmentIssues: ''Give Bees A Chance'' he's rather nervous when Amy uses the word relationship. Bear in mind, Amy was using it in a general sense and didn't add any hidden meanings.
* CrazyJealousGuy:
** Surprisingly sometimes acts like this concerning Amy, such as in "Fuzzy Puppy Buddies" when the group spies on Amy apparently getting ready for a date.
--->'''Sonic''': A-a date? That's cool. Why would I care? Stop staring at me!
** In "Alone Again, Unnaturally", when he's unable to find Tails he wonders if he's with Amy (i.e. dating), before sighing that it's his own fault. He rushes over to Amy's house, and sighs with relief when he realizes they aren't there.
* CurbStompBattle: The ColdOpen to the game has Sonic surrounded, and subsequently shot, by several of Lyric's drones.
-->''"Ugh... not my best moment. But hey, even in the face of certain doom, I still look good."''
* DanceBattler: As usual, Sonic is packing a lot of break-dancing inspired kicks.
* DeadpanSnarker: Emphasis on "deadpan". No matter how ridiculous a situation will get, you can expect Sonic to have an exasperated look on his face while commenting on it.
* DidntThinkThisThrough: Sonic's profile pic shows that "planning ahead" is one of his dislikes. ''Sidekick'' gives a demonstration:
-->'''Sonic:''' I was just trying to protect you...\
'''Tails:''' How? By putting me in ''more'' danger?!\
'''Sonic:''' The plan had holes!
** Sonic's plan to [[spoiler:lure Eggman and Lyric away from town and play KeepAway with the Radiant Crystal ends with half of Slowpoke Isle razed via Metal Sonic.]]
* DudeWheresMyRespect: In the cartoon, no matter how many times Sonic saves the village from Eggman, they turn on him or assume the worst of him at the drop of a hat over anything, no matter how small. This causes him to [[spoiler:[[RageBreakingPoint have a go at his team]] during one of Amy's seminars because he's fed up with how he gets treated.]]
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: On several occasions, other characters mention how close Amy and Sonic are. On one occasion, Eggman straight up asks what's going on between them, and on another, Sticks snaps "I'm not Amy," when a drowsy Sonic calls her "sugar plum".
* ExhaustedEyeBags: Sonic has these after a while of living with Eggman who did his utmost to keep Sonic and Tails up as part of a BatmanGambit.
* ExtremityExtremist: When not using his RollingAttack, Sonic is almost exclusively using kicks.
* FatalFlaw: Arrogance. As with many previous interpretations, Sonic can be rather cocky and reckless at times. His profile even indicates that he dislikes planning ahead. Sonic is legitimately fast and heroic, and has earned his reputation as a good guy among the village. It's just that he's so sure of his ability that it leads to him making bad decisions when his mouth writes a check that his feet can't cash.
* FreudianSlip:
** After he and Knux take down the first boss in the Pit, Sonic says, "We did it!" even though he's supposedly a loner (and insists that Knux misheard him when he points it out).
** In the cartoon, Sonic sometimes blurts out Amy's name (e.g. in "Designated Heroes", he sleepily muttered, "Not now, Amy, I'm not in the mood..." when Eggman interrupts his nap) despite vehemently denying any sort of romantic attachment.
* FriendlyEnemies: With Eggman. Whilst they're still arch rivals, Sonic and Eggman still help each other out on occasion, and their barbs at each other feel more like banter than genuine malice. It's almost to the point of VitriolicBestBuds at times, in fact.
* HalfDressedCartoonAnimal: Lampshaded in "My Fair Sticksy", wherein he agrees to escort Sticks to an award ceremony, but under the condition of not wearing pants. At the ceremony itself, all he wears is a sport coat.
* HandwrapsOfAwesome: Including his legs, and his ''shoes''.
* HatesBeingTouched: Whenever he and his friends do a "group hug", Sonic can be seen with a apathetic and disgusted look on his face. He even flat out says "No" when Amy suggests a pre-mission hug in the episode "Can An Evil Genius Crash On Your Couch For A Few Days?".
* TheHero: But of course.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Tails (as usual) and Knuckles.
* InformedFlaw: According to the developers, Sonic would start out the video games as a loner, and would need to learn the value of teamwork. When Rise of Lyric starts out, Sonic is fighting Eggman alongside his friends as he always does. Shadow even considers Sonic's reliance on his friends to be a weakness. Whenever Sonic tries to take the credit for what the group does collectively, it comes off more like his usual showboating instead of a genuine "IWorkAlone" attitude. In fact, in "Shattered Crystal", Sonic is always the first to suggest teamwork.
* IronicEcho: [[spoiler:Due to a StableTimeLoop.]]
-->[[spoiler:''"You and I have unfinished business."'']]
* IWorkAlone: WordOfGod says he's reluctant to work with others, but it's more of an InformedFlaw. However, [[spoiler:he tries to take responsibility for setting Lyric free by isolating himself from the group en route to Slowpoke Isle, but the resulting events come back to haunt him with a vengeance.]] He also tries this again at the Purification Plant; Amy was not having it.
* LaserGuidedKarma: ''Into the Wilderness'': When Amy and Sticks get stuck in a hole, Sonic walks off to win their bet, snickering about their predicament. [[spoiler:Said hole is a missile silo, which helps the girls win the race.]]
* TheLeader: A level headed, DeadpanSnarker OnlySaneMan type. In contrast to his main series counterpart who was a headstrong type blasting through every challenge with Sonic Speed.
* LeeroyJenkins: According his official bio, Sonic hates planning ahead. There is a multitude of evidence from the TV series that supports this.
* MomentOfWeakness: Sonic hesitated when a horde of robots under Eggman's command descended upon the group outside of Lyric's Tomb, and he opened the door (despite Amy telling him, twice, not to do it) after Metal Sonic showed up instead of moving to help them in advance. Besides Eggman and Metal Sonic, everyone present at the event was angry with Sonic for what transpired[[spoiler:, including Shadow]]. Not only does this kick off the plot of the game, but Sonic [[spoiler:makes things worse during one of his attempts to rectify his mistake]].
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Much like his mainline counterpart, he's the In-Between to Tails' Nice and Knuckles' Mean. While he is still kind like Tails, he can be quite the DeadpanSnarker and sometimes egocentric.
* NotSoAboveItAll: He tends to be as silly and goofy as his teammates.
* OnlySaneMan: Often comes off as this in many plot lines, between his dysfunctional team and Eggman's antics. Being Sonic, he's not ''completely'' lucid however.
%%* RedOniBlueOni: The Blue to Knuckles Red.
* SavvyGuyEnergeticGirl: The apathetic Savvy Guy to Amy’s spunky Energetic Girl.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: The manly man to Tails’s sensitive guy.
* ShesNotMyGirlfriend: Says this about Amy when Eggman taunts him in "Bro Down Showdown", and the game show indicates it's a wrong answer. Technically, it was because Sonic and Eggman's opinions were different, but the timing of the wrong answer light is still very suspect.
* SmallNameBigEgo: Sonic was this in Season 1 of the show, while he's TheHero and mostly [[OnlySaneMan the rational one]] around, he was very egotistical and full of himself to an immature, rude, and occasionally obnoxious degree.
* SoreLoser: Sonic suffers losing very badly. When he's BestedAtBowling by the Lightning Bolts, he runs his friends ragged with bowling practice and develops a borderline obsession with getting a rematch so he can beat them.
* SpellMyNameWithAThe: A lot of jokes treat the "The" in "Sonic the Hedgehog" as his actual middle name.
* SpikyHair: His quills are designed to invoke this sort of impression.
* StraightMan: In most episodes, he often falls into this role, especially when around [[DumbMuscle Knuckles]].
* SuperDrowningSkills: ''Sidekick'' reveals that Sonic still can't swim, requiring Tails to bail him out. ''I Can Sea Sonic's Fear From Here'' makes this a plot point, as Eggman builds a robot in the water specifically because Sonic's too scared to go stop it. It takes a lot of encouragement (and shoving) before Sonic gets in the water, even with a full set of SCUBA gear on.
* SuperSpeed: Natch. It's also his defining characteristic in the video game.
* ATasteOfDefeat: Into The Wilderness ends with him losing his bet with Sticks and Amy. See LaserGuidedKarma above.
* TheDogBitesBack: After all the episodes like “Don’t Judge Me” and “Just A Guy” where the [[UngratefulBastard villagers]] and even some of [[WithFriendsLikeThese his friends]] give him no respect or appreciation and turn on him for no reason, it can be very satisfying to see him teach them all a lesson in “Mech Suits Me” when his new mech suit brainwashed him into acting like a bully.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Still loves his Chilidogs as seen in "Cowbot".
* TranquilFury: His reaction when Swifty the Shrew claims to be faster than he is.
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Knuckles. The situation is reversed from the main line, with ''Sonic'' playing the loner role.
-->'''Sonic:''' If you can't keep up, just go along with [Tails and Amy].
* VocalEvolution: Creator/RogerCraigSmith gives Sonic a somewhat deeper and more serious sounding voice this time around, probably to better emphasize his loner status.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Tails]]
!!Miles "Tails" Prower
[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/tails_28sonic_boom_28fire_26_ice2929.png]]
-->Voiced By: [[Creator/ColleenOShaughnessey Colleen Villard]] (English), Creator/RyoHirohashi (Japanese), Creator/ChristaLips (Dutch)

Sonic's closest friend and sidekick Tails serves as Team Sonic's brains, as well as their mechanic. Incredibly intelligent for his age, he creates new inventions that supply the team with the technological edge they need to battle evil. He tends to be a ''little'' naive at times, though; he's still a kid, after all.
----
* AcePilot: Complete with a brand new CoolPlane. Of course, [[CaptainCrash he still has a poor track record with safety]].
* AdaptationalBadass: Like Amy, Tails is given a combat role after so many years of being put on the sidelines, with plenty of explosives to throw around.
* AdorablyPrecociousChild: One of the most punctuated interpretations of such for Tails. He's as much a tech wiz as his games counterpart but has a lot of the childish naiveté and EndearinglyDorky impulses of earlier cartoon incarnations.
* AndThenWhat: In "Translate This", Tails demands that Eggman return UT to him, but when Eggman asks what would he do if he said no, Tails reveals that he didn't think that far ahead.
* AttackDrone: Buddy-bot can short out remote terminals and attack robots while Tails attends to other matters.
* AwesomenessByAnalysis: He recalibrates the Enerbeam binding array into individual units for the group's use after their first contact with Lyric.
* BadassAdorable: He hasn't lost any of his cuteness from the main series, and his gadgets arguably make him even more badass. Also, even Sticks, probably the biggest tomboy of the whole franchise thinks he's adorable.
* BadassBookworm: Unlike his Sega counterpart as of late, Tails takes part in the action alongside his teammates without losing any of his intellect.
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: The Brains to Sonic's Beauty and Knuckles' Brawn.
* BigThinShortTrio: The Short to Knuckles' Big and Sonic's Thin.
* BunglingInventor: Most of his inventions ''do'' work, but some not quite in the preferred manner. Universal Translator proves very unpopular after Tails fails to put any restriction into what it can translate out loud.
* CaptainCrash: As always, Tails seems literally incapable of flying a plane without crashing it -- though, to be fair, it's usually because of being damaged in battle.
* CartoonyTail: As always, he has two tails which he can spin in order to fly.
* ChickMagnet: "Tails' Crush" has Zooey fall for him when he [[BeYourself stops trying everyone else's suggestions]], and "Fire in a Crowded Workshop" has Perci make bedroom eyes at him because she "like(s) a guy who's handy."
* CompanionCube: Often treats his inventions, tools, and ''especially'' his plane like this. He gives his translator robot a pep-talk when the others don't like it after its first outing, reacts to his tools being stolen as if they were his kidnapped children, and responds to Knuckles teasingly asking if he lavishes so much attention on his plane because he ''loves'' it [[NotHyperbole with a blunt]] [[BluntYes "I do."]]
* ComplexityAddiction: He insists on making devices for nearly every situation, even ones it would be far simpler to do manually.
* {{Cyborg}}: He accidentally merges with a Bee-bot in "You and I Bee-come One" and becomes this.
* DeadpanSnarker: It seems he gets this from Sonic, too. For instance, when Lyric states [[OmnicidalManiac his plans]]...
-->'''Tails:''' Somebody needs a ''hug''.
* DidntThinkThisThrough:
** Several of his inventions have this process, since Tails is a bit too eager to make new helpful gadgets.
** In "Translate This", Tails sneaks into Eggman's lair to rescue UT, but when he confronts Eggman and the latter asks what Tails would do if he said no, the fox genuinely doesn't know ''what'' to do. [[spoiler:Thankfully though, he does manage to improvise.]]
* ExhaustedEyeBags: Like Sonic, Tails gets these once Eggman starts living with them.
* FatalFlaw: Focus. Tails often seems over-fixated with his inventions, especially when they're not 100% fool-proof. A pivotal plot point in "Circus of Plunders".
* FearOfThunder: Tails is still absolutely paralyzed with fright when thunder sounds, as "Cabin Fever" shows.
* ForgotAboutHisPowers: Tails' ability to glide or fly would probably have come in handy when he needed to bail out of his plane in the first episode.
* FusionDance: With a Beebot, albeit accidentally.
* GadgeteerGenius: His penchant for mechanics hasn't changed, and he's packing plenty of gadgets for the game too.
* GiverOfLameNames: He has a tendency of giving everything he invents a very descriptive and long name. He sometimes lampshades this later on.
* GogglesDoNothing: While they would come in handy while flying a plane, Tails doesn't bother putting them over his eyes in the trailer. He wears them on odd occasions of intense tooling however.
* HandwrapsOfAwesome: He doesn't wear any on his hands, but like Sonic, he wears them on his shoes.
* HereWeGoAgain: Subverted. At the end of "Buster", when Sticks gives up Buster, Tails finds a stray octopus and asks if he can keep it as a pet, only for the octopus to promptly [[SwallowedWhole swallow him whole]]. Tails quickly changes his mind.
* HeliCritter: Tails's [[AddedAlliterativeAppeal main method of movement]], of course. In the games based on the show, this only amounts to gliding, unless in a [[CutscenePowerToTheMax cutscene]]. The show and comics have him flying around as usual, and using his tails to swim quickly.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Sonic.
* HiddenDepths: Implied to have potential in scriptwriting in "Eggman the Auteur".
* ImprovisedWeapon: While he fights Eggman's robots with bombs in the games based on the show and occasionally uses gadgets in the show itself, in the latter's case, he'll mainly grab an object in his vicinity and either throw it at the nearest bot or slam it down on top of them.
* InnocentProdigy: Tails is a gifted genius and inventor, but still often displays a childlike naiveté and enthusiasm.
* LittleProfessorDialog: Can slip into this sometimes, [[TechnoBabble especially when explaining things]].
* {{Kidanova}}: In "Fire in a Crowded Workshop", while Sonic and Knuckles' attempts to woo Perci fail, she comes on to Tails at the end, [[SingleWomanSeeksGoodMan possibly catching on that he lied about causing the fire to spare his friends' feelings]].
* KidSidekick: He's Sonic's, of course.
* MrFixit: "Dr. Eggman's Tomato Sauce" has a big case of this; with his friends asking him to repair their electronics. He also fixed up Eggman's robots(Cubot) or reverse-engineered them(Cowbot) a few times.
* NiceGuy: Most of the time, he's generally the most mild-mannered out of the group.
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Much like his mainline counterpart, he's the Nice to Knuckles' Mean and Sonic's In-Between. He's a BadassBookworm and a ChildProdigy.
* OfficialCouple: With Zooey since "Tails' Crush."
* OhCrap: In 'The Sidekick', when he attempts to bail from the damaged Tornado, he pulls the ejection seat lever... completely out, looking at the audience with a look that says "I'm doomed."
* OnlySaneMan: If even Sonic screws up because of his ego, [[NotSoAboveItAll immaturity]], and impulsiveness, Tails usually takes his position here instead.
* SensitiveGuyAndManlyMan: The sensitive guy to Sonic’s manly man.
* ShorterMeansSmarter: He's the shortest character, and also the smartest.
* {{Sidekick}}: To Sonic as usual. The show tends to mock this trope from time to time, such as showing that Tails reads a magazine titled ''Sidekick Monthly'' and later a novel titled "Always Settle for Second Best".
* TheSmartGuy: The smartest member of the five, as usual.
* TheStrategist: His profile states he's the one who comes up with the plans and initiative.
* SuperSpeed: Not as much emphasis is put on it as with Sonic, and he does it by flying instead of running (just like his main series counterpart in both respects), but in ''Rise Of Lyric'' he's the only other character who can run on water.
** Unlike his main series counterpart, he doesn't have SuperReflexes to [[RequiredSecondaryPowers go along with it]] (seen when Eggman uses a slow motion device in the show).
* TemptingFate: The group finds a red crystal out in the open, and Tails just had to open his mouth...
-->'''Tails''': Finally, an easy one!\
''*Driller Worm emerges in front of the group and eats the crystal*''\
'''Amy''': [[YouJustHadToSayIt You just had to say something, didn't you?]]
* ThrowDownTheBomblet: In ''Shattered Crystal'', Tails can [[StickyBomb "stick" enemies with grenades]]. He also throws explosives in ''Rise of Lyric''.
* ThrowTheDogABone: Unlike what happened when he was with [[ComicBook/SonicTheHedgehogArchieComics Fiona]] or [[Anime/SonicX Cosmo]], his relationship with Zooey here does not end badly by the end of the series.
* TokenFlyer: The sole member of the five who can physically fly and can pilot a plane. Tails has been seen using a plane to fly far more often than by using his tails.
* UndyingLoyalty: Predictably, towards Sonic. He is ''very'' protective of his sidekick role, and during one FeudEpisode among the entire gang, it took a matter of seconds for Tails to reconcile and team up with Sonic.
* VitriolicBestBuds: He and Sonic have light moments of this. There is also occasional heat between him and Sticks due to her fear of technology and his insistence upon it.
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Knuckles]]
!!Knuckles the Echidna
[[quoteright:322:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/the_sonic_boom_knuckles_2.png]]
-->Voiced By: Creator/TravisWillingham (English), Creator/NobutoshiCanna (Japanese)

Knuckles is the muscle of the group. Hailing from Angel Island, what this echidna lacks in brainpower, he more than makes up for with sheer strength. When there's something that needs lifting or breaking into pieces, he's the one for the job.
----
* AdaptationalCurves: He's a good deal more muscular than his main series counterpart.
* AdaptationalDumbass: So much so that he provides the page image. In the original games, Knuckles was SuperGullible but by no means stupid, he was able to perform such feats as translating ancient runes for Sonic and co, and is a good-natured powerhouse. Here, he's little more than DumbMuscle; he's [[NeverLearnedToRead illiterate]], it takes him a few seconds to ''understand left from right'' and he can't even count.
* AdaptationalJerkass: Compared to his main-series counterpart, he’s much more egotistical and rude, often insulting Sonic right to his face.
* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Compared to his main-series counterpart. In the main universe, he's single-minded, antisocial, and at best is a reluctant ally of Sonic and the gang. Here, he's good buddies not only with Sonic, but a whole group of friends, and is somewhat kind and outgoing, if still moronic and more prideful.
* AdaptationPersonalityChange: Unlike the more serious and temperamental version from the main series, he's goofy, somewhat moronic, and easygoing.
* AscendedMeme:
** The official Facebook post about Knuckles says that he doesn't like "leg day", a meme that was commonly poked at him for having an extremely buff body but very skinny legs.
** It was acknowledged again in "Robots From The Sky - Part 4", when Knuckles used his leg strength to destroy a robot.
-->''"Who says I skip leg day?"''
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: The Brawn to Sonic's Beauty and Tails' Brains.
* BewareTheSillyOnes:
** In the first issue of the comic. [[spoiler:He ''really'' did not appreciate all the "Oh God, what an idiot" directed at him, most of which was from Amy.]]
** Knuckles in general. He is an exceptionally powerful and skilled martial artist, and his typical silliness is almost completely absent whenever he and his friends battle Eggman and his army.
* TheBigGuy: As usual, except that he now looks more like the part even more so than before.
* BigThinShortTrio: The Big to Sonic's Thin and Tails' Short.
* BloodKnight: He's not psychotic by any means, but he clearly loves to brawl. At one point in "Shattered Crystal", he gets excited at the idea of fighting his way through a canyon of death traps and enemies.
* BoisterousBruiser: Loud and pretty adventurous.
* BoxingBattler: His fighting style resembles this, with a few karate and wrestling elements mixed in.
* BruiserWithASoftCenter: He has frequently shown to be very patient and compassionate despite his macho flair. [[CutenessProximity He also has a fondness for cute non-anthropomorphic animals]].
-->''"I was voted "Sensitive Soul of the Month" by ''Hulking Brute Magazine''."''
* CasanovaWannabe: ZigZagged. While Amy, Sticks, and Perci aren't nearly as fond of him as he thinks they are, he has no trouble charming minor female characters - perhaps because they don't know how frustrating his simple-mindedness can be.
* CharacterCatchphrase: "[[NiceJobBreakingItHero Not cool, (insert character’s name, usually Sonic)]]". He usually say this [[ComicallyMissingThePoint missing the point]].
* CharacterExaggeration: The main series Knuckles was known for being gullible and occasionally one track minded, though this was justified in-series by being the last of his kind and living alone with the sole duty of guarding the Master Emerald. This version makes him a full blown idiot, to the point that can't read and has trouble telling his left from right, and unlike his main-series counterpart, there's no attempt to justify or explain it- he's just dumb.
* ChivalrousPervert: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. He [[CasanovaWannabe delusionally sees himself as a total ladykiller]], even believing that Amy and Sticks are head-over-heels in love with him. Despite this, he cares greatly about the well-being of his female friends and rarely has trouble getting along with them, [[CombinationAttack especially in combat]].
* CloudCuckoolander: See DumbMuscle. Also, he mistakes New Year's Eve with other holidays such as Easter, Christmas, Groundhog Day & many others in the episode titled "New Year's Retribution," which is ''extra'' impressive as these holidays don't even exist in this universe.
* CrazyHomelessPeople: Very dumb rather than crazy, but definitely homeless.
* CrouchingMoronHiddenBadass: Knuckles often acts like a clueless {{manchild}} and/or a bumbling moron in the slice-of-life parts of every episode, but when a fight scene is involved, he proves to be an exceptionally competent fighter and team player.
* DeadpanSnarker: Yes, [[WorldOfSnark even]] [[DumbMuscle he]] is capable of sarcasm.
* {{Determinator}}: Always willing to fight evil, protect his friends, and defend the innocent...[[IronButtMonkey no matter how much it hurts]].
* DistinctionWithoutADifference: When Amy suggests she accompany Sonic to acquire the Tidal Crystal while Knuckles and Tails return to the village in case Eggman pays a visit, Knuckles voices offence at her taking charge... ''and then suggests the exact same plan''.
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: Knuckles' IQ takes a real dive in this series. In the comics, at one point Amy says "I acknowledge I get... impatient with you sometimes." A few pages later Tails tells her, "Your impatience with him got us into this mess." But Knuckles isn't a little kid; he's 16. Now, what ''other'' kinds of people do you have to be 'patient' with?
* DrunkWithPower: At the end of "Mayor Knuckles", in which he attempts to pass a law that [[UltimateAuthorityMayor gives him political power over everything]].
* DumbMuscle: Says [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} off-the-wall]] things in both the cartoon and the game. He can't read, write (or at least this is implied by the novel he's drawing), or count, and the opening cutscene of ''Rise of Lyric'' has him struggle to even tell left from right.
-->''"[[ShapedLikeItself Hey, there's things inside these things!]]"''
* DumbIsGood: [[TooDumbToLive Incredibly]] [[DumbMuscle dumb]], but is usually [[NiceGuy good-natured]]. He either ranges from this to being a KindheartedSimpleton on occasion.
* EmotionalBruiser: He can get a little melodramatic from time to time. See LargeHam.
* {{Expy}}: An AdaptationalDumbass version of a usually serious character who usually suffers slapstick and is mostly idiotic and childish? He's clearly taking cues from the Radical Entertainment era [[Franchise/CrashBandicoot Crunch Bandicoot]].
* ExtremityExtremist: Attacks primarily with punches, natch.
-->''"That's why they call me '''Knuckles'''!"''
* FaceHeelTurn: [[spoiler:At the end of Issue #1 of the comic, Knuckles gets tired of Amy and goes to partner up with Eggman.]]
* FakeDefector: [[spoiler:It was all just an act to get back at her. Unfortunately, he DidntThinkThisThrough and Eggman genuinely DID capture the gang in the process.]]
* FatalFlaw: [[TooDumbToLive Stupidity]] that is PlayedForLaughs relentlessly. Ceaseless things go wrong for Knuckles and the others due to his dopey behavior. On occasions, {{Pride}} will come into play as well.
* GladIThoughtOfIt: After acquiring the Enerbeam modules, Knuckles suggests using it to fling enemies at the statue.
* GroundPunch: He's seen doing this in the TV series' opening and in a commercial for the upcoming games. He has disabled Eggman's machinery at least twice using this attack throughout the show itself. ''Fire & Ice'' states that it is his SignatureMove.
* HandwrapsOfAwesome: They do help in protecting hands after all.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Sonic.
* HiddenDepths: Despite failing in reading, writing, and arithmetic, Knuckles has a wide variety of talents.
** In "My Fair Sticksy", Knuckles shows that he's surprisingly good at playing the piano.
** In "Aim Low", he is seen setting up a birdhouse. He listed "woodworking" one of his manly attributes in "Tails' Crush", so it's safe to assume he made the birdhouse himself.
** In "Mayor Knuckles", he produces a well-made drawing in less than five seconds.
** In "Counter Productive", he bakes a pie, which appears to be well made.
** In "Battle of the Boy Bands", he is shown be good at [[DumbAndDrummer playing the drums]].
** In "Bro Down Showdown", it is implied that he knows quite a bit about animal care.
--->'''Amy''': Last time I left you two [Sonic and Knuckles] here, I came back to find a family of skunks living in the crawlspace.\
'''Knuckles''': You should be flattered. Skunks are ''very'' picky.
** In "Eggman's Anti-Gravity Ray", Knuckles is revealed to be something of a feminist:
--->'''Amy:''' It all comes down to this one penalty kick. Can the young woman break the glass ceiling and prove once and for all that a female can be just as good as an athlete than a male?\
'''Knuckles''': You know, Amy, anytime someone calls attention to the breaking of gender roles, it ultimately undermines the concept of gender equality by implying that this is an exception and not the status quo. (''Sonic, Amy, Sticks and Tails are [[StunnedSilence stunned silent]]'') What? Just because I'm a meathead doesn't mean I'm not a feminist.
* IdiotSavant: He possesses a large number of specialized intellectual talents, despite lacking a grasp of elementary school subjects and almost about everything.
* InsufferableImbecile: He fills this role, sometimes, with his massive ego and tendency to make rude, insulting comments towards others.
* IronButtMonkey: Despite his SuperStrength ([[SuperToughness or maybe because of it]]), Knuckles rivals Eggman for being the biggest victim of the slapstick abuse throughout the show.
* KindheartedSimpleton: He is incredibly patient ([[DumbIsGood for the most part]]), and is sometimes compassionate and forgiving, despite his absurd delusions of grandeur and massive stupidity & moronitude.
* TheLancer: Just as his main series counterpart was a responsible and serious foil to the headstrong and cocky main series Sonic, this interpretation makes Knuckles boisterous DumbMuscle to contrast with the jaded, toned-down Sonic. Both challenge Sonic's leadership, and he's more of a partner when they pair up rather than a sidekick like Tails.
* LargeHam: He has the comedic tendency to speak in a dramatic or poetic fashion, especially in "Mayor Knuckles".
* LastOfHisKind: Like his mainstream version, he's the only echidna around.
* LeaderWannabe: One cutscene shows him trying to take command, but it's clear the others don't really take him seriously. He also tries interviewing Sonic to be his sidekick in the first episode of the cartoon, despite the fact that Sonic's the one doing the interviews.
* LiteralMinded: At least one instance, as he and Sonic descend into The Pit.
-->'''Knuckles:''' Whoa. We are ''definitely'' not at the beach anymore.\
'''Sonic:''' You can say that again.\
'''Knuckles:''' Whoa. We are ''definitely'' not at the beach anymore.\
'''Sonic:''' [[DeadpanSnarker ...Shoulda seen that coming.]]
* MadLibsCatchPhrase: "Not cool, [character]."
* MusclesAreMeaningful: Likely the reason he's so buff.
* NeverLearnedToRead: "My Fair Sticksy" reveals that Knuckles can't read. He seems to have subverted this in "Mayor Knuckles" and "Chili Dog Day Afternoon", however, the former showing he can also write.
--->'''Knuckles:''' Let me see that! ''(grabs letter, scans it)'' Oh wait, I can't read...
* NiceMeanAndInBetween: Similar to his mainline counterpart, he's the Mean to Tails' Nice and Sonic's In-Between. He's idiotic, childish, and egotistical.
* NobodysThatDumb: Despite his airheadedness, Knuckles tends to catch on pretty quick when it's someone else's turn to hold the IdiotBall. Even he is dumbfounded Amy would fall for Eggman's flattery in "Fortress of Squalitude" for example.
* PluckyComicRelief: Most of his contribution to the comedy stems from his hammy and/or off-the-wall dialogue and behavior.
* TheResenter: Knuckles acts incredibly jealous whenever Sonic is perceived as more competent or popular than him, or whenever Sonic beats him at something. When the opposite scenario happens, Knuckles is quick to boast.
* SeeminglyProfoundFool: Diane Aardvark, a photographer was doing a photo shoot of Comedy Chimp, saw Knuckles attempting to photobomb the shoot [[ItMakesJustAsMuchSenseInContext with a trash can on his head]] and managed to create a completely serious and meaningful interpretation of his silliness.
* SmallNameBigEgo: He delusionally believes that he is much smarter, more powerful, and more popular than he really is, like the moron he is. There were two instances where upon being asked to [[{{Flashback}} recall events in the past]], he developed an [[BlatantLies obviously fabricated]] story in which he was [[HerCodeNameWasMarySue portrayed]] as an [[LeaderWannabe incredibly wise and capable leader]] who possessed powers he clearly doesn't have ([[NoodleIncident maybe]]) and was [[TheResenter admired greatly]] by a wimpy and idiotic Sonic, [[UnknownRival feared]] by Eggman ([[AccidentalMisnaming who can't even say his name right]]), and [[CasanovaWannabe loved by every female character]].
* SmartBall: There are also times Knuckles can be smarter than his standard fare. For one, he pilots the Riptide, which is not an easy task when Swarmer Bots are zerging the group. He also figures out in "Hedgehog Day" that he can keep the GroundhogDayLoop going by being as unhelpful as possible, to avoid going to the dentist on the following day. There's also this line midway through Lyric's Tomb.
-->''"When doors open that you don't have to knock on, that usually means bad things are ahead."''
* SuperStrength: He's been known to effortlessly lift things that the rest of the cast combined couldn't so much as budge. He also obliterated the asteroid in ''Spacemageddonocalypse'' in one punch.
* SuperToughness: Even for a cartoon, it's downright shocking how much punishment he can take and still keep going.
* ATaleToldByAnIdiot: Knuckles had this in "Dude, Where's My Eggman?", rewriting the story to make Sonic incompetent and telling it as though Knuckles stopped Eggman via flight and a ''laser beam.''
* TestosteronePoisoning: He takes masculinity ''very'' seriously. When [[SociallyAwkwardHero Tails]] ask Knuckles for dating advice, he emphasizes the importance of lifting weights, eating red meat, and taking up woodworking. [[BadDate Things don't go as planned]].
* TopHeavyGuy: His design here makes him really beefy on the top, but his legs are pretty thin by comparison. Fittingly, "leg day" is one of his dislikes.
* TunnelKing: His digging ability returns and now he shoots up with a {{Shoryuken}}.
** DiscardAndDraw: This apparently comes at the expense of his gliding skills from the Modern games, at least outside of the Archie comic series.
* UltimateAuthorityMayor: Attempts to become this in "Mayor Knuckles".
* VitriolicBestBuds: With Sonic, unsurprisingly. See Sonic above.
-->'''Knuckles:''' ''[after Sonic strongly hints that he should go join Amy and Tails instead]'' One of these days, I am gonna knock you out. ''Really.''
** Also Amy in the comics, between his increased dumbness and her increased snide temperament.
* VocalEvolution: This version of Knuckles has a higher voice to accentuate his AdaptationalDumbass in this series.
* WallCrawl: He can do this using his handspikes. He can even hang from the ceiling!
* TheWorfEffect: Despite being the strongest team member, he's unable to damage Metal Sonic in "It Wasn't Me, It Was The One-Armed Hedgehog."
* WouldHurtAChild: Albeit, not out of malicious intent, but due to a misunderstanding. In "Three Men and My Baby!" when he, Sonic, and Tails are babysitting Chumley, Sonic suggests putting a chili dog in a blender since Chumley can't eat solid food. However, Knuckles mistakes the "it" in Sonic's sentence for Chumley, and immediately attempts to blend the baby before Sonic stops him.

[[folder:Amy Rose]]
!!Amy Rose
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sonic_boom_3d_amy_06.png]]
-->Voiced By: Creator/CindyRobinson (English), Creator/TaekoKawata (Japanese)

Amy is a kind person at heart (albeit a bit bossy), almost always showing kindness to everyone around her (unless you tick her off, in which case she'll let you know it). Don't mistake that compassion for incapability, though-- she's the backbone of Team Sonic, and she can fight just as well as the others, courtesy of a ''really'' big hammer.
----
* ActionGirl: Despite being as much of a girly girl as ever, she can hold her own just fine against Eggman's robots.
* AdaptationalBadass: Amy could be pretty badass in the regular games DependingOnTheWriter, but the creators said they designed Amy to be a more capable character in this series. In ''Rise of Lyric'', it shows.
* AdaptationalJerkass: Compared to her main-series counterpart, Amy is much more bossy and self-righteous, often bossing her friends around and scolding them whenever she believes they have done something wrong.
* AdventureArchaeologist: Amy is a capable explorer and archaeologist in this continuity, with added acrobatic talent to go with it.
* AllLovingHero: Deconstructed. While she's a believer in ThePowerOfFriendship, the other characters find this behavior strange or annoying. In the episode "Can an Evil Genius Crash on your Couch for a Few Days?" Amy tries to show Eggman some sympathy and affection, and Eggman is weirded out by it. Not to mention, Amy actively campaigns for Eggman to stay, even when he's making the entire team miserable. She also raises money for charities in her spare time (most prominently a campaign to give penguins sweaters) and is easily sweet talked by Barker with the premise of entertaining children in "Circus of Plunders".
* AlwaysSaveTheGirl: Gender flipped. [[spoiler:When Lyric [[SadisticChoice threatens to shoot Sonic if the Crystals aren't turned over to him]], Amy drops them despite Sonic's plea and asks Lyric to let him go afterwards. [[KickTheDog Lyric proceeds to order his bots to open fire anyway.]]]]
* AsideGlance: Does this in ''Fire & Ice'' on first contact with D-Fekt.
-->''"[[NowBuyTheMerchandise He'd make a great action figure if our adventures were ever merchandised.]]" *winks to the camera*''
* BadassAdorable: More badass than in the main series, but just as cute as she ever was. Also counts as a GirlyBruiser.
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: Beauty. Often shares this with Sonic.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: WordOfGod states that Amy will always be the first to consider sympathy towards Eggman and other villains. When they try to exploit or betray her however, the gloves are off.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: This version of Amy ''looks'' and ''acts'' like an innocent girl, but is in reality a self-righteous ControlFreak whose maturity compared to her mainstream version is actually a FatalFlaw.
* CannotSpitItOut: Amy still has the universal constant of being in love with Sonic. This time out, she keeps it to herself rather than fawn obviously over him. This leads to the rare sight of Amy and Sonic alone for an entire level without once asking about dates or marriage.
** The cartoon, naturally, plays it for laughs. In "Translate This", Amy is actually visibly horrified when the Universal Translator nearly blurts out her crush for him. "Closed Door Policy" shows that she carries a picture of Sonic in her purse, but she insists it's a "[[ImplausibleDeniability picture of a platonic friend that [she has] no romantic interest in]]." She also made a doll of Sonic that she keeps around for "[[BlatantLies totally legitimate, definitely non-creepy reasons.]]"
* CharacterizationMarchesOn: ''ComicBook/SonicBoom'' a comic book written by Creator/IanFlynn that predates the cartoon, introduces Amy as bossy and with temper problems, having problems with [[DumbMuscle Knuckles]] and being passive agressive with him in particular. This clashes with Amy's characterization as a patient NiceGirl with the ocassional [[DeadpanSnarker mean moment]] in the show.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She doesn’t like it if Sonic shows any interest in another girl. An example is in ''Mech Suits Me'', she's rather annoyed when Sonic under the influence of his mecha suits flirts with twins. After Sonic is freed, she makes a point of asking him if he remembered the twins and was annoyed when Sonic happily said yes.
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: Shows traces of this. In "The Sidekick" her idea of auditioning to be a sidekick is impersonating an Italian pizza man while juggling and singing "When the Saints Go Marching In".
** In "My Fair Sticksy", she suggests making wishes on falling meteors and wishes for a pony... ''as they are falling inside the very same town square they're currently in!''
* ControlFreak: Increasingly pushy and egocentric as the show goes on. Lampshaded by Sonic in "Closed Door Policy," when she organizes a yard sale for Sticks against her will after seeing all the junk she's hoarded:
-->'''Sonic:''' Amy, do you think maybe you're being a little too...."take charge"?\
'''Amy:''' I'm only doing what anyone would do for a friend that's pathetic and hopeless.\
'''Sticks:''' Hey! ''Hey!''\
'''Sonic:''' [[SarcasmMode Nope, not too take chargey at all.]]
* DamselInDistress: Though [[AdaptationalBadass used more mercifully here]] than most other takes, it does still happen time to time, such as "Fortress of Squalitude". Also a key plot point of ''Shattered Crystal''.
* DeadpanSnarker: Not far behind Sonic in this respect. Jury's out on whether [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} Sticks]] has this trait, [[WorldOfSnark but it seems to be contagious amongst the core protagonists]].
* EarlyInstallmentWeirdness: In the earliest episodes, Amy is a lot more goofy and tolerant of similar behavior. Later episodes have her displaying bossy behavior and anger issues, with most of her CloudCuckoolander tendencies toned down.
* EveryoneCanSeeIt: On several occasions, other characters mention how close Amy and Sonic are. In "The Biggest Fan", when Amy mentions the titular fan has an unhealthy attachment to Sonic, Tails teasingly replies, "And you should know," before backing down when Amy growls dangerously at him.
* FatalFlaw: Ego. Amy can be a pretty effective TeamMom and voice of reason when her ego doesn't take full control, making her cause problems by acting stroppy-tempered or overbearing. She also considers herself to be the smartest and most level-headed person in any given situation. She's usually right about that, but at the same time, it leads to Amy being openly condescending of people around her and unwilling to listen when the others ''do'' have a valid point to raise (something they [[IWarnedYou do not pull any punches over]] in "Closed Door Policy").
* FeminineWomenCanCook: As revealed in "Role Models", she's kinda feminine and is the only member of Team Sonic who can cook.
* GamerChick: Tabletop version; "Fuzzy Puppy Buddies" has Amy playing the titular game with [[GoKartingWithBowser Eggman]], even going to [=PuppyCon=] with him over it.
* GenkiGirl: A trait carried over from the main canon.
-->''Rings! Wee!''
* HairTriggerTemper: This version of Amy is notably rather irritable and doesn't like it when things don't go [[ControlFreak how she wants them to]].
* HolierThanThou: Amy tends to act very self-righteous, often scolding her friends for being “immature” or “insensitive”.
* HollywoodToneDeaf: She's hopeless at carrying a tune, as shown during the TerribleIntervieweesMontage of the first episode. "Sleeping Giant" has her singing irritate a rock monster to the point it gets up and leaves to avoid hearing it.
* InformedFlaw: People will sometimes mention her having an "unhealthy attachment to Sonic", which might be true for some incarnations of the character but definitely not to this one; Amy has a personality and interests outside her crush on Sonic, and is able to keep normal interactions with the blue hedgehog without mentioning romance.
* LargeHam: The episode "The Sidekick" shows that Amy can, indeed, be this way.
* TheLeader: Her profile states she has natural leadership qualities for those around her, which makes her the charismatic type. Sonic may be the main character as usual, but Amy is generally the one calling the shots from what we've seen. The only reason the trial in "Don't Judge Me" even gets started is because she's not around to call everyone out on how ridiculous it is.
* LittleMissBadass: She's not any older than in the main series, but just as cute and much more badass.
* MinidressOfPower: She wears a very short dress.
* MoralGuardian: She acts like this a ''lot'', with too many examples to list them. It's especially apparent in "Just a Guy" where she believes Sonic to be in the wrong for calling Mike the title phrase just as much as the rest of the village does, and uses plenty of CondescendingCompassion when trying to help him be more tactful.
* MostFanficWritersAreGirls: "Cabin Fever" has the cast finding and reading her play script-slash-fanfiction of them.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: In "Closed Door Policy," her ControlFreak nature and forcibly organizing a yard sale for Sticks against her will ends up causing problems when it's revealed that the stuff Sticks had hoarded was [[ItMakesSenseInContext blocking off a doorway that was keeping a group of evil Froglodytes from invading]]. Knuckles, Sticks, and Sonic [[LampshadeHanging all make sure Amy knows it's her fault]].
* OddFriendship: She and Eggman hang out in several episodes while the two are [[PunchClockVillain off the clock]]. Usually this ends with Eggman resorting to villainy against her, bringing things back to the status quo. However, in "Fuzzy Puppy Buddies", he relents on an evil scheme to rob a poodle playing figure when Amy loses her patience and threatens to end their friendship.
* OnlySaneMan: She is the more emotionally mature member of the group, offering common sense when the rest of the team gets carried away. [[NotSoAboveItAll Then again...]]
* PinkMeansFeminine: Has Pink fur and is still a GenkiGirl.
* RescueRomance: A subtle affectionate moment comes after Sonic saves her from an attack in "Translate This". The kicker comes when U.T. translates Sonic's usual cockiness into a compassionate comment.
* {{Sarashi}}: Complements the HandwrapsOfAwesome [[FridgeBrilliance and mitigates self-injury from the hammer]].
* SoapboxSadie: Similarly to her MoralGuardian role, she acts like this ''way'' too often to list any specifics, but to give a few, she's very fanatical about animal rights and gender equality, and she always tries to promote the idea that there is goodness in her arch-enemies (Eggman and his bots) despite the contrary.
* SpottingTheThread: Unlike regular most other versions of Amy, she almost instantly realizes that the Sonic she's faced with in "Where Have All The Sonics Gone?" isn't hers when Morpho-as-Sonic attempts to charm her into a trip to the canyon.
* SurroundedByIdiots: Amy is mostly annoyed because her friends do not listen to every single thing she tells them to do.
* ATasteOfDefeat: "Chez Amy" ends with her restaurant destroyed by Eggman, and her left dealing with Meh Burger once again. However, this was a [[LaserGuidedKarma hubris-pivoted downfall.]]
* TeamMom: Her occasional moments of protectiveness have been emphasized much more in this series. Her profile lists her role as "The Backbone", and in ''Fortress of Squalitude'', the group demonstrates trouble getting things done without her.
** In "Don't Judge Me", after gatecrashing Eggman's KangarooCourt just before it falsely convicts Sonic, she outright says, "I was only gone for the weekend and look what happened".
* ThreePointLanding: Pulls it off in the game's first trailer, whereas the guys just fall on their faces. The game proper has it as her "long fall" landing pose.
* TinyTyrannicalGirl: She may be small and cute, but she’s really bossy.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Her dynamic with Sticks. While she's still a {{Tomboy}} overall, Amy cannot outwild Sticks, so she becomes the GirlyGirl by default. This is best shown in "Sticks and Amy's Excellent Staycation", where Amy is still fond of things like tea, knitting and spa sessions and only has disgust for Sticks' muddy ways.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: While Amy is not afraid to get her hands dirty, she does know a thing or two about fashion and etiquette. In "Fortress of Squalitude", Eggman hires her to redecorate his lair to get himself on the cover of a magazine.
* TookALevelInJerkass: The show's Amy was initially somewhat pompous, but still usually a cheery NiceGirl. The comics convey Amy as far more snide and curmudgeonly, the first story even pivoted by her impatient attitude towards Knuckles. This was later carried over into the show itself, including a tendency to get bossy.
* VocalEvolution: She sounds far less shrill than in past few games; now she sounds more like [[VideoGame/{{Blazblue}} Makoto Nanaya]] or [[VideoGame/Persona4Arena Labrys]][[note]]minus the [[UsefulNotes/AmericanAccents Bronx accent]] of course[[/note]].
* WomenAreWiser: She's the backbone of the group, and arguably the de facto leader when it's not Sonic himself. She's also, presumably, still one of the younger members at 12 years old. Granted Amy's FatalFlaw is that she ''thinks'' she's this trope more than she is, leading to role reversals on a less than uncommon basis.

!!Sticks the Jungle Badger
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sbsticks.png]]

Rounding out the gang, Sticks is the team's wild card. Having grown up in the jungles of the island before Sonic and pals found her and took her into the fold (she formed a close friendship with Amy in particular), she's handcrafted a variety of weapons that she uses to help her friends fight the bad guys. She's a bit... out there, however, often rattling off outlandish conspiracy theories (that occasionally come true, by the way) or tending not to trust anyone around her-- not even the other members of Team Sonic.
----
* {{Angrish}}: Reduced to this when construction of a mall being next to her hut in "Mayor Knuckles".
* AssKickingPose: She has a distinctive crouch she goes into whenever she feels threatened.
* AstonishinglyAppropriateAppearance: Her pigtails are styled in the shape of a boomerang, her signature weapon.
* BadassAdorable: A dangerous hunter in the form of a cute, furry badger.
* BattleBoomerang: While PlayedStraight in season one with her choice of weapon being her boomerang, season two averts it, as she wields a large variety of weapons.
* BeautyBrainsAndBrawn: Brawn. Shares this with Knuckles.
* BrooklynRage: She has a WesternAnimation/BugsBunny-style Brooklyn/Queens accent, though it's [[OohMeAccentsSlipping noticeably stronger in some episodes than in others.]]
* CanonForeigner: She's not a part of the original universe, even though she uncannily resembles Marine the Raccoon from that universe.
* CanonImmigrant: She appears as a playable character in ''Mario and Sonic at the Rio 2016 Olympic Games'', making her one of the very few Canon Foreigners of the Sonic franchise to appear in the actual games. She also has official artwork dedicated to her in the ''Sonic Channel'' official website, and appears in the 25th anniversary ''Sonic Comic'' alongside main series characters. In addition to this, she's also name-dropped in ''VideoGame/SonicFrontiers'' in some of Sonic's incidental dialogue [[spoiler: and by Amy in the main ending]], cementing her place as an existing character within the main games' universe.
* CloudCuckoolander: She's smart, but very paranoid and loopy. She's apparently not too fond of the government, either.
* TheCloudCuckoolanderWasRight: On more than a few occasions, Sticks has been right to act abrasive with the strange inhabitants around her.
* ConspiracyTheorist: Living by herself has given her some extremely backwards ideas of how the world works. Chief among them being that everything is a massive conspiracy, and "the government" is out to get her. And then there's this gem:
-->'''Sticks''': "Crossin' paths with a cross-eyed moose brings a curse on the moose-crosser and the non-moose-crossed friends. DON'T YOU PEOPLE KNOW ANYTHING ABOUT SCIENCE?!"
* CrazyHomelessPeople: Downplayed, but present. Sticks is kooky, gets lost in her own little world, dumpster dives regularly, and while she does technically have a home, it's a ramshackle burrow rather than a house.
* CrazyPrepared: "My Fair Sticksy" reveals she's outfitted the village with a defense system for wildfires, meteors, floods, [[ArsonMurderAndJaywalking and people trying to read her thoughts]].
* CutenessProximity: When interacting with Buster the robot dog. For a given value of "cute", anyway.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: It's revealed that her ancestor Jebediah Badger, stood for everything she was against.
* DemotedToExtra: Somewhat. The longer the series went on, the less screentime she had. There were a number of episodes that featured little or no lines from her at all beyond reusing her battlecry.
* DreadfulMusician: Her singing is so horrid enough to make all of her friends cower and cover their ears and even set off Tails' Disasterometer. Strangely enough, the rock monster in "Sleeping Giant" is soothed by it.
-->'''Knuckles''': That's not a lullaby. That's what happened when I drop bagpipes into a wood chipper.
* {{Expy}}:
** Her orange, Down Under-styled design makes a whole lot more sense once you remember that the people behind the game also created the classic ''VideoGame/CrashBandicoot'' trilogy in the [[TheNineties mid-90's.]]
** A SEGA ActionGirl who wields a boomerang and has giant pigtails? Sounds like Aika of ''VideoGame/SkiesOfArcadia''.
* FashionableAsymmetry: Her shoes and bracelets don't match.
* FourthWallObserver: She constantly talks to the audience in the show.
* GoMadFromTheIsolation: A downplayed, G-rated example. Because she's lived alone for most of her life before Sonic and his friends showed up, she's very paranoid and has outlandish ideas about how the world works in the modern age.
* GoodTimesMontage: In "Buster", she tries to stop the now Eggman-controlled Buster from killing the gang by saying he should remember the good times they had... however, none of the events shown in the montage actually happened. Thus, Buster remains unconvinced.
* {{Hypocrite}}: Compared to her constant paranoia of robots and obsession with trashing Tails' Universal Translator in "Translate This" (which she does eventually act on), she is ''very'' defensive of the equally discomforting pet robot, Buster in the very next episode. Subverts ProtagonistCenteredMorality however since she does begrudgingly let Buster free.
* ImprovisedWeapon: She seems to have a knack for these. From bending a spoon into a boomerang to breaking a seashell in half, there's nothing she won't use as a weapon. Though when you've been living in the wild for so long, you'll come to realize that everything is a weapon.
* InformedSpecies: Aside from the 'wild' nature of the species, she bears minimal resemblance to a real badger. (Though she may be based on the European or American Badger due to her fur pattern)
* TheMadHatter: She's well aware of how [[{{Cloudcuckoolander}} nutty and kooky]] she is and freely admits it in "In the Midnight Hour."
-->'''Sticks''': That's the trouble with being a paranoid kook; when something really is going on, no one believes you!
* NonstandardCharacterDesign: Sticks is the only character of the main cast to not be wearing any gloves.
* NoSocialSkills: Living alone in the wild for years will do that. This gets deconstructed in the episode "My Fair Sticksy". Sticks gets invited to a gala at the mayor's mansion when she's nominated for an award, but she feels she's too feral to attend such a fancy party. And though Amy tries to teach her proper etiquette, Sticks' innate animal instincts fail her constantly. She sniffs people, licks her teacups, throws Knuckles across the dance floor, and slurps her soup very loudly, all in the same episode. The fact that "formal occasions" is one of her dislikes doesn't help her case. Ironically, her feral nature comes to the rescue when Eggman crashes the party with his robots.
* NotInMyBackyard: In "Mayor Knuckles", a resident of the village has his bill to build a mall approved by Knuckles, of whom is running for mayor, as the title suggests. Said mall is apparently being constructed right outside her den, to her fury as the sound of a jackhammer jolts her awake... and worst of all, [[ButtMonkey her situation in particular is of the first conflicts in the episode]].
* PrecisionGuidedBoomerang: She can use it to tag out-of-the-way switches in ''Shattered Crystal'', too.
* ProperlyParanoid: To say that she is overprepared or overanalyzing for some impending crisis is an understatement in itself. However, half the time, there is a method to her madness and is proven right during that time.
** ''Can an Evil Genius...'' has Sticks predicting that Eggman has an Obliteratorbot ready to deploy against the group along with his latest evil scheme. Turns out he actually ''did'' have a literally-named Obliteratorbot and an evil scheme to go with it.
--->"Why doesn't anyone believe me? It's not like I'm paranoid! ''(stops, glares at own shadow)'' Stop following me!"
** In ''Closed Door Policy'', Amy assumes that Sticks is making a mess from constant hoarding. She sells the junk by yard sale, only to learn the hard way that behind the cleared door is a tribe of evil frogs.
** In issue 6 of the comic, she doesn't trust Eggman's announcement of his Go-Karting Competition, because she says that Eggman will probably use some sort of 'bio-scanning Egg-what-cha-who-zits' to scan the others for a sinister plan. Turns out Eggman's karts ''do'' contain bio-scanning Egg-what-cha-who-zits(TM) that have scanned the other racers in anticipation for some unknown... operation.
* RememberTheNewGuy: She's a new character for this universe, but her introduction with the rest of the cast is completely unknown. The team just act like she's always been around.
** [[spoiler: In ''Sonic Frontiers'', Sonic and Amy mention her at various points, with Amy mentioning her alongside Cream.]]
* RightlySelfRighteous: A strange roundabout case, since by default she's less virtuous and more a conspiracy nut and a dissenter of technology. But the show actually plays TheCloudcuckoolanderWasRight way more often than ''not'', her ramblings are actually seldom wrong, and out of the five protagonists she's actually least liable to suffer a comeuppance for her idiosyncrasies (she never suffers ATasteOfDefeat like any of the others for example). Anytime [[GadgeteerGenius Tails]] is vindicated is usually the obvious exception, though, as proven with U.T.'s fate, her unrepentant craziness can still just overrule the situation anyway, making her more a KarmaHoudini.
* SarcasmBlind: Shown to be this after they [[spoiler:rescue Amy in ''Shattered Crystal'']].
* ShoutOut: Sticks bears a strong resemblance to [[https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aika_7.jpg Aika]] from Sega's ''VideoGame/SkiesOfArcadia'', as they both have the same hairstyle and use a boomerang as their weapon.
* SpannerInTheWorks: Eggman's plan to [[spoiler: hypnotize the entire village using the Dreamcaster]] would've succeeded if it weren't for Sticks [[spoiler: not owning a TV and being paranoid enough to investigate]].
* {{Technophobia}}: Having grown up in the wild, she's not exactly trustful of technology, only turning to it when she has no other choice. She doesn't really like robots much, either, as she's convinced they'll turn on everyone and cause a robo-apocalypse (turns out [[Recap/SonicBoomS2E27RobotsFromTheSkyPartTwo she'd be right]]). Despite this fact, she somehow manages to be good friends with the technology-''loving'' Tails, though not without some occasional hiccups.
* TheOphelia: [[DownplayedTrope Downplayed]]. She’s very cute, she’s an UnkemptBeauty, and she’s crazy, but she’s more of a harmless {{Cloudcuckoolander}} than anything.
* TinfoilHat: Suggested a few times in ''Shattered Crystal''. "In My Fair Sticksy", she also specifies that her anti-thought-reading defense system is the one used to stop the meteor shower, only covered in tinfoil.
* VagueAge: She's one of the few main characters that doesn't have a set age. At least one official source claims she's 16, but she looks and acts much younger.
* VerbalTic: Has a habit of ending sentences with "man" when in paranoid mode.
* VibrantOrange: Sticks is an energetic, free-spirited badger with orange fur.
* VocalDissonance: She's got a rather deep and raspy voice for a girl who's somewhere around 13 years old.
* WildChild: She spent most of her life in the wilderness, and as such, is wilder and has a greater animal instinct than the other characters.
