Characters appearing in Fanfic/CRME.

----

!Canon Characters

!!Cinder, Roman, Mercury, and Emerald.
The eponymous unofficial team comprising of Cinder Fall, Roman Torchwick, Mercury Black, and Emerald Sustrai. Find their tropes here.

!!Salem
The GreaterScopeVillain of the series. Find her tropes here.

!!Doctor Arthur Watts
An Atlesian doctor and member of Salem's inner circle. Find his tropes here.

!!Neopolitan
Roman Torchwick's personal assistant. Find her tropes here.

!!Amber Coleman
The current Fall Maiden.
----
!!!Tropes:
* BewareTheNiceOnes: Emerald is terrified when she sees her raising her spear to kill her.
* DoomedByCanon: The scene she appears in is directly from the episode. It was obvious what was going to happen to her.
* TheGhost: Until Chapter 14, she didn't actually appear in the story. She was only mentioned by name over halfway through the story.
* LivingMacGuffin: Her role in the story is to be the source of the powers that Cinder wants.
* NamedByTheAdaptation: She is given a surname in this fic.
* UnPerson: Watts notes that Ozpin has been trying to do this for her as part of her transition into becoming the new Fall Maiden.

!!Professor Ozpin
The headmaster of Beacon Academy.
----
!!!Tropes:
* TheGhost: He has been talked about a lot later in the story, but he hasn't shown up. The closest we got to him was when Qrow called him on his scroll, but we don't get his end of the conversation. Even when he was expected to show up, Glynda shows up in his place and people wonder why he isn't there. However, he still has a major impact on the story.
* GreaterScopeParagon: He hasn't shown up throughout the story, but he's the biggest influence on the side of good.
* ProperlyParanoid: His efforts to conceal Amber's existence are not misguided. Cinder is actively seeking her powers and will do anything to get it. Unfortunately, his efforts will all be for naught.

!!Adam Taurus
An aggressive bull Faunus who heads the Vale faction of the White Fang.
----
!!!Tropes:
* AggressiveCategorism: He outright states that he has a low tolerance for humans and says that Cinder and her crew should go die when Ilia says they want to speak with him. Even people who don't have any inherent Faunus prejudice are subject to his rage.
* AxCrazy: He gets aggravated easily and responds to most of those moments by lashing out violently.
* Bring Her to Me: One of his conditions for Cinder is to get Blake back.
* Domestic Abuser: It's rather subtle, but he is psychologically manipulative towards Blake.
* EntitledToHaveYou: When Emerald says he needs to do something for someone he loves, he shouts and says that she deserves to be with him.
* Ephebophile: The oldest Blake could have been was 17 years old, so it's likely that this trope is in effect.
* EverythingIsRacist: He's very touchy on subjects of Faunus-human relations. Even for people who have no distinct prejudice against Faunus like Emerald (who spent two years in Vacuo), he still claims that all humans are all the same.
* ItsAllAboutMe: He shows just how one-sided his relationship with Blake is when he denies that he has to do anything for her because she left him.
* ManipulativeBastard: He does this to Blake by manipulating her into going along with his plans.
* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: His Lieutenant lampshades that Cinder's offer is this. And he can't help but agree that it's not worth the risk.
* PsychopathicManchild: He starts showing signs of the man-child he is in canon after he blows up on Mercury for pointing out a valid point (regardless of the douchey way in which he gave that point). His arguments with Roman show just how juvenile he really is.
* PutOnABus: Roman mentions that Adam leaves to take care of his own matters in Chapter 19. He will return later in the show.
* TheSociopath: He only cares about himself and his own desires, despite what he tells his men. He has no problem killing humans on a whim just for existing. His obsession with Blake isn't true love and there are moments that show he only views her as a possession.
* TeethClenchedTeamwork: He's obviously not happy to be working with Team CRME – Roman in particular. Mercury and Emerald are sent over to settle a dispute between them.
* TheUnfettered: Watts describes him as a fanatic. And his conversation with Blake shows that he's willing to do anything for the betterment of the Faunus.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: What he thinks he is.
* WesternTerrorists: He is called a terrorist several times.

!!Professor Leonardo Lionheart
A former ally of Ozpin and TheMole for Salem.
----
* AnythingButThat: The Quickest way to get him to cooperate? Get Salem involved. All Watts needed to do was pull out a Grimm spawning seed for a Seer and Leo was begging him not to use it.
* DirtyCoward: He is working for Salem out of fear for his safety. He was all too willing to sell out Ozpin's secrets, the ones he knew about anyways. Even the slightest bit of intimidation will have him pissing himself in terror.
* FreudianExcuse: The reason he defected is that he saw Salem slaughter many of his huntsmen without a second thought. He recognized that it would be a futile effort to go against her and didn't want to be on her bad side once shit went down. It doesn't make him that much more sympathetic, but you see where he's coming from.
* ItsAllAboutMe: The reason he keeps working for Salem is to stay alive. He disregards his fellow huntsman and innocent people just because he's afraid of Salem.
* AnOfferYouCantRefuse: He continues to work for Salem out of fear of his own life after he watched her slaughter a group of his loyal huntsmen.
* ShellShockedVeteran: Something like that. He's a trained huntsman, but he has seen some shit. Especially after his first encounter with Salem.
* YouHaveOutlivedYourUsefulness: He fears that this will happen to him if he doesn't continue providing Salem with information and doing things for her and her associates. So, he makes sure that doesn't happen.

* TheCameo: They're important characters in the main series, but they appear in no more than one chapter in the fic.The only exceptions are Lisa Lavender and Junior and that's only because they have a single cameo in two separate fic.
* NoNameGiven: Ilia, Qrow, and Yang are not mentioned by name. But the context clues make it obvious that it can't be anyone other than these characters.Or you could've just looked at the tags for the story.
----
!!Lisa LavenderShe also shows up in a bonus chapter for The Black Hearts, but she originally appeared in the series during this story.
A news reporter in Remnant.
----
!!!Tropes:
* SmallRoleBigImpact: Her reporting is what informs Mercury that . For even bigger impact, it also inspires Cinder to start working with Adam Taurus.

!!Blake Belladonna
A cat Faunus who is a member of the White Fang and Adam's lover.
----
!!!Tropes:
* TheFettered: Blake starts having doubts about Adam's plan to raid the train car.
* WellIntentionedExtremist: She expresses doubts about Adam's methods, but she still wants what's best for the Faunus. She still thought her parents weren't going far enough.

!!Ilia Amitola
A chameleon Faunus and member of the White Fang.
----
!!!Tropes:
* AdaptationalEarlyAppearance: While it's much sooner for her to be around now, it's not entirely implausible since she and Blake were talking together in the latter's Volume Five character short.
* GreenEyedMonster: Hints of her jealousy towards Adam can be seen in the story.

!!Qrow Branwen
A huntsman working for Professor Ozpin.
----
!!!Tropes:
* TheAlcoholic: The first sign that he was going to appear was that Mercury smelled alcohol in the air.
* ContinuityNod: His appearance is directly from the episode.

!!Glynda Goodwitch
A Beacon professor and assistant to Ozpin.
----
!!!Tropes:
* DressedLikeADominatrix: The undertones of this are lampshaded. Watts, of all people, notes that a riding crop is an odd accessory to have, and Cinder jokes that it's for "whipping naughty students."
* HotTeacher: Acknowledged by two men in the tour group. And Narcissist Cinder thinks that she's hotter than Glynda.
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: The pilot episode wasn't the first time Cinder met Glynda in this continuity. The reason she didn't recognize Cinder is that Cinder kept to the back of the group and wore a different outfit with sunglasses.

!!Junior
Find his tropes here.

!!Yang Xiao Long
A blonde young woman who assaults Junior.
----
!!!Tropes:
* ContinuityOverlap: Her appearance coincides with the Yellow Trailer.
* TheVoiceless: We don't get any of her lines in her appearance.

!!From Dust 'til Dawn
* ContinuityOverlap: Their appearances coincide with the robbery in the pilot.
----
!!The Shopkeeper
The old man running From Dust 'til Dawn.
----
!!!Tropes:
* TheUnintelligible: Averted since this is before his status as this started.

!!Ruby Rose
A young girl who was in the Dust shop Roman was robbing.
----
!!!Tropes:
* TheVoiceless: Ruby doesn't speak in this cameo.

!Original Characters

!!The Bartender
The bartender from the tavern Emerald and Cinder visit.
----
!!!Tropes:
* BadGuyBar: He works at one. He even allows Emerald, who is only eighteen at the time, to drink.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: Well, technically, he's called "Bartender" in the narration. He otherwise has NoNameGiven.
* KnowledgeBroker: Acts as this. Emerald notes that if you need to know something in the criminal underworld, he's the one you want to ask.
* NiceGuy: He's running a BadGuyBar, but he isn't really a bad guy himself. He's nice enough to realize when Emerald has had too much to drink and tries to keep her and Mercury from getting killed by Neo.
* OCStandIn: If you're speaking technically, he is this to an extreme degree. His line about Marcus living in the mountains is the one from the blacked-out segment in "Beginning of the End." His entire character is connected to canon by a single line.
* OnlySaneMan: Of a sort, considering that his patrons include a bunch of thugs and low-lives. However, being the only consistently sober individual there doesn't make that a difficult feat.

!!Nurse Melanie Black
Find her tropes here.

!!Tank
A former worker for Roman.
----
!!!Tropes:
* AllMenArePerverts: He already tries to get sex out of Cinder in exchange for information.
* TheChewToy: He gets left in jail by Roman after being lied to about getting bailed out, he gets his balls burned by Cinder, and later gets an incendiary arrow jammed in his neck, killing him.
* CruelAndUnusualDeath: Remember that incendiary arrow that Cinder used to kill Pyrrha? Cinder jammed one of those in his neck!
* GroinAttack: Cinder burns his crotch using the Dust in her dress.
* NoBodyLeftBehind: Implied since he was killed using the same kind of arrow used to kill Pyrrha.
* OnlyOneName: And for all we know, it could be a nickname.
* UnwittingPawn: Roman used him and a bunch of his other workers as bait for the police. He made them refuse to say anything in exchange for being bailed out. Roman being Roman never actually bailed them out and Tank wasn't too happy about it.

!!Kelly
A bar patron who hits on Emerald.
----
!!!Tropes:
* AllWomenAreLustful: She comes off as just as lecherous as the guys in the bar.
* DoubleStandardRapeFemaleOnFemale: Averted. It's sexual harassment, but she is still portrayed as a creep for trying to feel up Emerald.
* LipstickLesbian: She had a lot of makeup on and is flirting with Emerald.
* OnlyOneName: Her name is mentioned as an offhand comment by the Bartender. Before then, she had NoNameGiven.
* PervertRevengeMode:

!!Police Commissioner Branden
The police commissioner in Vale working to end organized crime.
----
!!!Tropes:
* ArchEnemy: He has made himself this to Roman.
* BerserkButton: He doesn't like it when Roman implies that he'd hurt his family.
* FantasticRacism: Implied. And it would be one of the few things that he and Roman can agree on. He is no friend of the Faunus and casts all Faunus as being as bad as the White Fang.
* TheGhost: He was planned to show up in the final chapter of Roman's Empire but ended up not appearing. The writer decided to introduce him in CRME instead.
* GoodIsNotNice: He's one of the most morally upstanding characters in the whole series, but he's still not gonna have mercy on criminals. He has a zero-tolerance policy on crime and isn't very fond of the Faunus.
* HeroAntagonist: One of the few genuinely good characters in the series and he antagonizes one of the Villain Protagonists, Roman.
* KnightTemplar: His tone towards organized crime is very harsh.
* LastNameBasis: He uses this with Roman and he also goes by this.
* NobleBigotWithABadge: Of the fantasy type. His comments about the White Fang members he arrested imply that he views all Faunus as White Fang members. However, he is a family man and dedicated to stomping out organized crime, so his prejudice isn't used to show him as a bad guy.
* OnlyOneName: Only his last name is given at this point even though his wife and daughter have first names.
* PapaWolf: He has a daughter and doesn't take too kindly to Roman implying that he's going to hurt her.

!!The Lonely Boy
A young boy that Emerald chose to kill for Mercury's test.
----
!!!Tropes:
* KillTheCutie: He was killed by Emerald on Mercury's suggestion to help her get over her guilt.
* NoNameGiven: In fact, his header is just something used from his description in the story. The fic apparently doesn't even decide on a nickname to call him.
* OhCrap: Emerald drops the illusion just long enough to show that she's pointing a gun at his head. And he is terrified.
* UncertainDoom: The end of Chapter 16 cut out just before the moment of Emerald pulling the trigger. It took two chapters until it was revealed that he was actually killed. The author's notes about it show that we have a TrollingCreator on our hands. To drive that point home, it took over two weeks to finally confirm that the child was killed and the writer worked on several other stories before Chapter 18 was uploaded.
* WalkingSpoiler: If the folder weren't marked "spoilers" up front, most of the entry would have to be white. The whole point of his character is a turning point in Emerald's character arc. Something that is obviously meant to be shocking since the idea of Emerald murdering a child is something that would be unthinkable before that point. And the fact that Cliffhanger we don't even know if he got killed for a whole chapter is also a spoiler.
