The sixth season of ''The Amazing Race Australia'' was the first to occur after the all-clear from the COVID-19 pandemic. That said, it wasn't without issues, as contestants and even Beau temporarily dropped out to serve lockdown periods.

This season also started with the largest-ever cast for an Amazing Race, with 20 teams (10 teams introduced in leg 1, a new 10 introduced in leg 2 doing a separate route in the same country to leg 1's teams, with the 18 remaining teams combining in leg 3).

The cast, despite the wide disparity in skill level, contains several very well-liked teams, some of whom are the most well-liked in the entire Australian spin-off despite the lessened inter-team interactions from the previous season. They took a more ambitious course this time around, taking initiative to do the rare gamble of visiting all 6 habitable continents. Unfortunately this came at the cost of several teams having to take COVID breaks which not only meant they were well-rested, but the poor design caused the eliminations of two fan-favorite teams. Beau Ryan was clearly sliding back into old habits of showing off for the cameras which culminated when he caught COVID and would cut to him in the hotel room mid-race. He was temporarily replaced with a robot and later, Scott Tweedle, both of whom were seen as better hosts than him. The cast was vocally competitive in their desire to win, and proved it with their urgency and willingness to take huge gambles in their effort to win. The overcrowding of teams caused several teams who fans wanted to see more of to be OutOfFocus. The pacing felt a lot better this time around with more evenly placed non-elimination legs and attempting to have the same number of teams every legs. The suspense was further increased by the frequent footraces both for first and last with interesting elimination methods on several legs. The finale was one of the most poorly received in Australian history, despite the universally beloved winner. Despite having one of the more creative FinalExamFinale challenges in recent years, production put a luck based task right before that, which was the deciding factor of the finale by a longshot. This failure was not only noticed, but emphasized by the editors when more focus was put on who would place second once the winners were obvious. While the season had its faults, the overall agreement is the teams made up for where the producers failed and the season was neither a success nor a failure.

!!Heath & Toni
Enduring Love couple (also referred to as "memory makers" on their Ten Play profile). Toni was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer and so now the couple are trying to make the most of their time together. Winners of this season of the Race.

Tropes associated with them:
* AscendedToCarnivorism: Toni, a vegan, ate eyeballs and intestines to continue the Race in Colombia.
* BigYes:
** When they were the last team to check in on the second Colombian leg, Heath lets one out after hearing fill-in host Scott Tweedie say [[CatchphraseInterruptus "This is a pre-determined..."]]
** Toni lets out one of her own after learning they were the first team to check in on the second Belize leg.
* ChekhovsHobby: Toni revealed that she has went bike riding plenty of times before in the lead up to the coconut bike roadblock in Belize.
* DownToTheLastPlay: In a race to the pit stop, Heath and Toni managed to check in first ahead of Pako and Mori on the third Belize leg.
* NoIndoorVoice: Heath let his frustrations out during the tejo challenge as he kept missing the target. He also yelled loudly at the end of the Twerk It Detour (even though yelling for that was optional) and at the final finish line.
* PopTheTires: Heath and Toni's cab driver in Colombia unwittingly pops a tyre trying to merge into a lane. Following this setback, the couple decided to go on foot to the market. Fill-in host Scott Tweedie points out that they're the first couple in Amazing Race Australia history to have a popped tyre.
* PrecisionFStrike: Heath drops a censored one during the finale.
* VomitIndiscretionShot:
** Toni ended up visibly vomiting trying to keep down the dinner Roadblock in Colombia. This was also shown in trailers.
** Toni also visibly vomited while she was doing the airplane roadblock. Fortunately, that time, she had a vomit bag with her.

!!Angel & Frankie
Church friends. Angel's father passed away shortly before the Race began, which was played up close to the finale.

Tropes associated with them:
* ChekhovsHobby:
** They perform dances on Tiktok and this helped them with the dancing challenges. This was averted when Angel's belief in her "sense of rhythm" led her astray at the Beat Detour (where teams had to play steel drums in time with the band) - Frankie was the only participant of that challenge revealed to have learnt drums.
** Angel has a habit of taking selfies, which allows her to have fun with the Graffiti Art challenge.
* CurbStompBattle: It's discussed in the first Colombia leg most of the teams never saw Angel and Frankie on the Race course, due to how ahead they were after several consecutive wins. This then disappears as they commit some serious errors (such as struggling at the Beat Detour) and more teams are in COVID lockdown and/or eliminated.
* TheDitz: When they were in Athens, Angel thought UsefulNotes/JuliusCaesar was Greek.
* DownToTheLastPlay:
** Angel & Frankie overtook Flick & Gabby just as they got out of the car, guaranteeing their fourth first place in a row.
** Angel and Frankie managed to be the second to last team to check in at the first Belize leg with a difference of 25 seconds, eliminating Flick & Gabby.
* InvoluntaryGroupSplit: Angel was stuck at Cancun for part of the Belize leg due to COVID-related travel issues, leaving Frankie to complete the cashew challenge and the glass cleaning roadblock by himself. Notably, Frankie only had to fill half the jar of cashews and Angel caught up to him when a hotel equalizer occurred mid-leg.
* MidBattleTeaBreak: Confident they were first, they briefly stopped at a shoe store in one leg. True to form, they chose [[ColorCodedForYourConvenience orange shoes]].
* PlatonicLifePartners: Pako and Mori mentioned they thought Angel and Frankie were an item and on their way to the Australian plane quiz task, they're (incorrectly) assumed to be partners by the person driving the airport buggy. They decided to arrive on the mat on the second Belize leg by [[PrincessCarry having Angel jump into Frankie's arms]] [[note]]Beau calls them out on the fact they can't sign in without having both team members' feet on the mat[[/note]], which didn't help their case. In the final leg, Frankie finally admits there is a bit of a spark between the two of them.
* RageBreakingPoint: Angel becomes frustrated when the bell keeper tells her and Frankie to “please try again” after a few attempts, to the point that she blurts out a censored F-Bomb.
* RealityShowGenreBlindness: The only team of the final three blindsided by the memory challenge.
* SympathyForTheHero: Angel & Frankie hugged Mori as he was struggling with his fear of vertigo, and they were understandably saddened about Pako & Mori being the next team eliminated via time penalty.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Angel doesn't seem to like stingrays or sharks, to the point she had a panic attack after being in the water with them in Caye Caulker.

!!Kelly & Georgia
Newlywed teachers.

Tropes associated with them:
* AscendedToCarnivorism: Georgia chose to eat meat for the first time in 12 years to continue the Race.
* DownToTheLastPlay:
** In a three-way race to the second Mexico pitstop, Kelly & Georgia managed to outpace Heath & Toni and Angel & Frankie to be the first team to check in.
** Kelly & Georgia managed to be the first team to check in on the second Australian leg ahead of Angel & Frankie and Heath & Toni, by a matter of seconds.
* ExhaustionInducedIdiocy: [[https://www.reddit.com/r/TheAmazingRace/comments/xtjl4z/comment/iqqc5y5/ Revealed to be the reason why they didn't take the bikes in Mexico.]]
* GenreSavvy: On the second Australian leg, Georgia insisted that Kelly retrieve his bum bag from the brewery before heading to the pitstop because she didn’t want to get a time penalty.
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer / SickEpisode: Kelly and Georgia don’t show up in the Colombia and Belize episodes due to COVID-19 precautions and so disappear from related trailers.
** TheBusCameBack: Kelly & Georgia return starting with the second Belize leg.
* TheStoolPigeon: The main team responsible for reporting Crystal and Reem doing the gevrek challenge incorrectly.

!!Tiffany & Cynthia
Aunty & niece.

Tropes associated with them:

* DownToTheLastPlay: In an emotional finish, Tiffany & Cynthia ended up checking in ahead of Jodie & Claire on the second Belize leg by one millisecond. Fortunately for both teams, [[SubvertedTrope the outcome didn’t matter since]] [[GameBreakingInjury Fliss & Tottie were eliminated involuntarily due to the former’s sprained ankle]].
* ExhaustionInducedIdiocy: Tiffany & Cynthia felt overwhelmed with the heat at the school in Belize (which didn’t help when they were one of the couples without shade), and considered the idea of taking a time penalty, even though this is the same challenge for the returning teams to do a speed bump. Fortunately, they subverted that idea and continued the challenge.
* HoldingHands: Did this with Jodie and Claire in Belize when they realised one team could be eliminated.
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer / SickEpisode: Tiffany and Cynthia don’t show up in the Colombia and Belize episodes due to COVID-19 precautions and so disappear from related trailers.
** TheBusCameBack: Tiffany & Cynthia return starting with the second Belize leg.
* TwoferTokenMinority: They're indigenous - although their status as such isn't mentioned as much as Stuart and Glennon's, you can see indigenous patterns on some of their clothing to indicate this.

!!Pako & Mori
Husbands.

Tropes associated with them:
* ChekhovsSkill: Mori speaks Spanish, due to hailing from Chile (where Spanish is the official language), so he could easily ask for the herbs in Colombia.
* TheDitz: Mori reveals he likes macadamias...but only by confusing them with cashews first.
* ManlyGay: This trope helps to contrast them against Sam and Alex's FlamboyantGay actions.
* PinkMeansFeminine: Averted, as proven by ManlyGay above.
* RealMenWearPink: See SickeningSweethearts for Pako's love of romantic movies. For a literal version of this trope, they wear pink tank tops when the weather allows for it. They even refer to themselves as the "pink boys" while falling behind in Colombia, and Beau says this trope word for word about them after the couple checked in during the second Belize leg.
* SickeningSweethearts:
** Pako likes to play up romantic moments with a ShoutOut. During the wedding dress challenge in Greece:
--> '''Pako:''' I'm like Julia Roberts in ''Film/RunawayBride''!
** In Turkey, when they learn one member has to ride a motorised "magic carpet" while the other controls it:
--> '''Pako:''' We're going to have our {{WesternAnimation/Aladdin}} and Jasmine moment.
* SleevesAreForWimps: Sport bright pink tank tops in weather that allows for it.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Mori has a noted issue of vertigo in the lead up to the challenge where he and Pako have to try and memorise the six Noongar seasons upside down and Mori even came on to the Race as a way to overcome it. It sadly proved to be the team's downfall, as he failed to muster the courage to even try the challenge.

!!Lauren & Steph
Cop couple.

Tropes associated with them:
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer / SickEpisode: Lauren and Steph don’t show up in the Colombia and Belize episodes due to COVID-19 precautions and so disappear from related trailers.
** TheBusCameBack: Lauren & Steph return starting with the third Belize leg.

!!Chelsea & Jamus
Engaged parents.

Tropes associated with them:
* AreWeThereYet: Averted when Chelsea asks this to Jamus...about whether they've finished cracking all their nuts.
* BigEater: An unwitting example, as they ended up having to eat 39 pies due to screwing up on the Heat Detour the first time.
* DownToTheLastPlay: Chelsea & Jamus managed to beat Heath & Toni to be the first team to check in at Belize. Notably, they decided to take a different route from Heath & Toni to do so.
* FatAndSkinny: Downplayed with Jamus, as he ended up unintentionally damaging the taxi's rear left wheel in Colombia on their way to the La Piedra stair climbing challenge, before deciding to sit in the passenger front seat.
* HairTriggerTemper: See RageQuit.
* MoralityPet: Jamus to Chelsea for the most part.
* NoGoodDeedGoesUnpunished: In Colombia, Chelsea & Jamus handed out some of the cheese arepas to the children on the way to the school. The charity worker forces them to make more of them as a result.
* NoodleIncident: Chelsea mentions to Jamus in Belize last time they went camping, they only camped for 24 hours. Apparently, [[HairTriggerTemper she "packed up everything in a huff and a puff and [they] were outta there"]].
* RageQuit: Chelsea has had roughly a handful of these, going as far as to threaten this upon Jamus, especially with the gevrek challenge and trying to find their taxi following the La Piedra challenge.
* [[ReadTheFreakingManual Read the Freaking Clue]]: The arepa challenge clue said to head to the art school, then feed the kids. Chelsea fed kids on the way to said art school...and [[HairTriggerTemper blamed Jamus for the mistake]].
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: Heights and small spaces for Chelsea, who inevitably has to race in one of the highest cities in the world (Bogota) and pass through some narrow caves. She also doesn't like tarantulas.

!!Jodie & Claire
Dragon boat mums.

Tropes associated with them:
* ActionMom: They take part in dragon boat racing.
* CasualSportsJersey: At times when they're in the race, they were seen wearing their dragon boat shirts.
* ChekhovsSkill / ChekhovsHobby: With 15 years’ worth of experience in dragon boating, Jodie & Claire managed to avoid capsizing their canoe in the Belize Mayan calendar challenge, even though several other teams capsized.
* [[CoolOldLady Cool Old Ladies]]: Both of them, in comparison to the other teams.
* DrivesLikeCrazy: Claire didn’t just clear the jet car challenge, she obliterated it in under 50 seconds!
* GenreSavvy: Claire reminded Jodie that they need to bring their backpacks to check in at the pitstops. In the same leg, Chelsea and Jamus fell behind due to forgetting theirs in the car.
* HoldingHands: Did this with Tiffany and Cynthia in Belize when they realised one team could be eliminated.
* NoSenseOfDirection: Jodie & Claire consistently relied on passerbys to help steer them in the right direction at times, especially with challenges.
* OnSetInjury: Claire burnt her right hand while doing the Evil Eye Roadblock challenge. She managed to pull through after her hand was doused in water and patched up.
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer / SickEpisode: Jodie and Claire don’t show up in the Colombia and Belize episodes due to COVID-19 precautions and so disappear from related trailers.
** TheBusCameBack: Jodie & Claire return starting with the second Belize leg.

!!Fliss & Tottie
Country kids.

Tropes associated with them:
* AcquiredErrorAtThePrinter: On the speed bump sign at the Belize school, Tottie’s name was spelt without an ‘E’.
* ChildhoodFriends: Their Ten Play profile notes they've been friends since birth.
* GameBreakingInjury: Fliss ended up spraining her ankle trying to keep up with her friend Tottie to get to their Detour in Belize, which was sadly enough to end their time in the race.
* NoSenseOfDirection: Use this trope as justification for sticking with Kelly and Georgia in Alacati.
* OneSteveLimit: Subverted, as Fliss and Flick both have the first name "Felicity".
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Both of them. Fliss's real name is Felicity, while Tottie's real name is Josephine.
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer / SickEpisode: Fliss and Tottie don’t show up in the Colombia and Belize episodes due to COVID-19 precautions and so disappear from related trailers.
** TheBusCameBack: Fliss & Tottie return starting with the second Belize leg.
* WhyDidItHaveToBeSnakes: This team was the worst-affected by the spiders at the school in Belize.

!!Flick and Gabby
Barista sisters.

Tropes associated with them:
* DisqualificationInducedVictory: In Morocco, after Jake and Holly RageQuit the hat twirling challenge.
* PrecisionFStrike: While doing bike polo (albeit censored). Notable in that it was the odd profanity out in a [[ClusterFBomb Cluster S Bomb]] which otherwise went uncensored.
* OneSteveLimit: Subverted, as Fliss and Flick both have the first name "Felicity".
* OnlyKnownByTheirNickname: Flick, whose real name is "Felicity". A more downplayed example was that Gabby was also sometimes referred to as "Gabba" by Flick and likewise, Flick was sometimes referred to as "Flicka" by Gabby.
* OwMyBodypart: Flick was somewhat more concerned about her eyelashes than her fake hair before doing the Stunt Roadblock in Morocco. She did clear the challenge, but her lashes weren't unscathed.
-->'''Flick:''' Oh, my lashes!
* SiblingTeam

!!Stuart & Glennon
Friends and Baru mates (meaning they are Indigenous).

Tropes associated with them:
* DownToTheLastPlay: Overtook Sam & Stu on the final stretch of the Greek leg, eliminating them.
* OneSteveLimit: Enforced with Stu from Sam & Stu. (That said, in the first Colombia leg - which occurs after Sam & Stu's elimination - Glennon and Scott refer to this team's Stuart as "Stu".)
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer / SickEpisode: Stuart and Glennon don't show up in the Turkey episodes due to COVID-19 precautions and so disappear from related trailers too.
** TheBusCameBack: Stuart and Glennon return starting with the first Colombian leg.

!!Kathy & Chace
Lawyer cousins.

Tropes associated with them:
* AsianAndNerdy: Subverted. While they're good with puzzles, Kathy is generally quite serious in demeanour.
* BornUnlucky: Covid stopped them from racing for several legs. On the leg they returned; they gained a large lead ahead of all but one team; only to have to be forced to wait and lose this because of an hours of operation limitation on the final task. Then they had to do a Speed Bump challenge alongside the other returning team Stuart & Glennon.
* ChekhovsSkill: Kathy casually reveals that she has finished first in a shotput competition, which helped her and Chace go in and out of the tejo challenge like the wind.
** Chace mentions in [[https://10play.com.au/the-amazing-race-australia/teams/season-3/kathy-chace/pa220819xljrz his profile]] he can speak 5 languages, including Spanish, the one that helps them ace most of the first Colombia leg.
* HeightAngst: Kathy and Chace had a bit of a problem getting on the bikes first before attempting the bike polo challenge.
* LoopholeAbuse: Due to arriving too early at the herbal market, Kathy convinces Chace to have a look around to see which area has the required herbs.
* NegatedMomentOfAwesome: Kathy and Chace get the tejo challenge done in one attempt while other teams struggle with it...however, even with Chace's ability to speak Spanish, the ill-placed hours of operation equalizer, the Speed Bump, COVID-19 knocking out 5 teams and having to split some of their herb bundles in half puts them in last place.
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer / SickEpisode: Subverted. Aside from being visible on the Ten Play advertisement, Kathy and Chace don't show up in the Greek Week or Turkey episodes due to COVID-19 precautions and so disappear from related trailers too.
** TheBusCameBack: Kathy and Chace return starting with the first Colombian leg.
* SoreLoser: After learning that they've been eliminated, Kathy throws a fit, claiming that they were one of the stronger teams this season (which is correct; they've finished in the top three twice prior), before ultimately throwing her backpack onto the ground in frustration. Somewhat understandable given that a design flaw caused them to lose their lead over other teams (see UnwinnableByMistake / BornUnlucky).
* TwoferTokenMinority: They mention on their profile they are Asian, immigrants and at least one of them is LGBTIAQ+. Chace even participates in an LGBTIAQ+ hockey club.
* UnwinnableByMistake: The hours of operation board on the final task caused them to lose their early lead over the other teams. This, combined with a mismatch of scales from the vendors and a speed bump, knocked them back to a narrow last place.

!!Morgan & Lilli
Blonde buddies.

Tropes associated with them:
* FailedASpotCheck: Got a bit lost finding the Pit Stop in Marrakech and Alaçatı
* OutOfFocus: Barely get any screen time besides their final legs in the race.

!!Tammy & Vincent
Scientific siblings, [[InSeriesNickname known affectionately as the "Rubik's Cubes"]] for their distinctive checkered shirts.

Tropes associated with them:
* AsianAndNerdy: Their entire selling point.
* BlemishedBeauty: Vincent has a notable horizontal scar across his stomach which was visible during the wrestling challenge.
* BrotherSisterTeam
* NerdGlasses: Both sport identical glasses, although occasionally they'll opt not to wear them.
* ShoutOut: Describe their relationship in their profile as being like [[Franchise/HarryPotter Fred and George]].
* SiblingTeam
* WorkplaceAcquiredAbilities: Tammy is a vet who got a donkey challenge.

!!Crystal & Reem
Middle Eastern mates.

Tropes associated with them:
* ChekhovsSkill: Their profile mentioned they're fluent in Arabic, which was helpful for travelling in Morocco.
* DrivingStick: Failed at this during a self-driving leg and so Reem had to push the car.
* TwoferTokenMinority: Aside from Reem's status as a Muslim woman, [[https://www.refinery29.com/en-au/2022/08/11099349/amazing-race-australia-crystal-reem Crystal is a Palestinian Christian]].

!!Sam & Stu
Friends and "mullets".

Tropes associated with them:
* ChildhoodFriends: Friends since kindergarten.
* HeightAngst: Sam's selling point is that he subverts this trope, despite having achondroplasia.
* InspirationallyDisadvantaged: Sam's achondroplasia.
* OneSteveLimit: Averted from their very first day on the Race with Sam & Alex, but enforced with Stuart & Glennon.

!!Sam & Alex
Flamboyant friends.

Tropes associated with them:
* CampGay / TheDitz:
From [[https://10play.com.au/the-amazing-race-australia/teams/season-3/sam-alex/pa220819lsrpd their profile]]:
--> They call each other and everyone angel, because they can’t remember everyone’s names!
* OneSteveLimit: Averted from their very first day on the Race with Sam & Stu.

!!Jake & Holly
Influencers and models. Jake got into an accident at one point and Holly was his caretaker through the rehabilitation period.

Tropes associated with them:
* NegatedMomentOfAwesome: Jake and Holly arrived first at the pitstop. Unfortunately, they had to sit through a 30 minute penalty and watch every other team check in ahead of them, thus making them eliminated.
* RageQuit: At the hat twirling challenge in Morocco - taking the 30 minute penalty narrowly cost them the Race.
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer: They don't appear in the intro sequence after the third episode for some reason.

!!Bren & Anja
Vegan warriors.

Tropes associated with them:
* GenderBlenderName: "Bren" could be short for "Brendan" or "Brenda".
* GoodSamaritan: They helped a bird they saw on the way to the Pit Stop that was struggling to fly.
* HonorBeforeReason: Eliminated for not doing the tannery challenge and taking a time penalty.
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer: They don't appear in the intro sequence after their leg for some reason.

!!Paul & Rachel
Dad & daughter brokers.

Tropes associated with them:
