[[caption-width-right:350:Damn you, Sain! WhatWereYouThinking Having your way with Lisa when you knew she is my fiancé?]]TheProtagonist. He was childhood friends with Sain and Lisa, but he learns, to his rage and trauma, that he was just being exploited by them when he's thrown out of the "Hero" party led by Sain, because the latter wanted to enjoy, and sexually exploit, a BattleHarem. He rightly accuses and attacks his self-proclaimed "friend" only to be insulted and berated by all the girls, being literally kicked out. Shortly afterward, his "saving" skills reach the limit and break, repaying all the exp they stored up, with interest, boosting him to level 300 and changing his race to "Dragon man." Still in need of companions, but having legit trust issues, he goes to a slave trader, where he finds, and buys the sickly Kaede, heals her, and then the two go on adventures.
----
* BlindedByRage: When he realized that Sain was kicking him out of the party, not for the altruistic reasons he was stating, but purely so he could screw around with all the women of the party, including Lisa, his fiancé, since all three had matching rings, Toru flies into a rage, punches Sain in the face, and tries to keep on pounding until the three ladies of the party beat him up, berate and insult him, and tell him to leave, because they want nothing to do with him, just as Sain planned.
* CelibateHero: He is '''very''' interested in Kaede, but he gets uncomfortable flirting with her because of three significant reasons. 1.) He was cruelly played with by his fiancé whom he was intimate with. 2.) Kaede's body may be that of an adult, but she was a child when he bought her ''days'' ago, which brings questions of if she even understands sexuality. 3.) She's his slave, and that brings questions about whether she can actually consent or not.
* ChivalrousPervert: He loves when Kaede flirts with him, innocently or otherwise, and even quietly thinks "I'm going to be sleeping happy tonight" when he sees Marianne in her birthday suit, as she runs out of the bath chasing Panda and doesn't bother covering herself when she runs in on Toru and her own father having a meeting in the count's office, and Kaede responds by shoving his head into her own chest, but he would '''never''' sexually exploit a woman, which is why Marianne is so comfortable around him in the first place.
* DoNotCallMeSir: He doesn't like Kaede calling him "Master" and has asked her to call him by name, but her slave training is too engrained to stop, so he lets it slide. He's not particularly keen on Frau calling him "Lord" either, but she insists and states her family would treat her harshly for "disrespect" if she stops, making him wonder what kind of childhood she had, so he just sighs, resigned to let her keep doing it.
* DraconicHumanoid: As a result of having his "Exp saving" skill shatter and give him the saved up exp, with interest, and having him reach level 300, his race was forcefully changed from "human" to "Dragon Man."
* EmasculatedCuckold: As he's being exiled from the party, he looks at Sain's eyes with HellishPupils and realizes the guy just wanted an all-female party to exploit, including Lisa, his fiancé. He punches the SmugSnake in the face and is attacked by the rest of the party. Being 20 levels weaker than even one of them, he walks away, and is traumatized by this for a considerable amount of time afterwards, even having hallucinations that decry him every time he tries to flirt with his OneTrueLove Kaede.
* TheFirstCutIsTheDeepest: His fiancé Lisa publicly spurning him and throwing their engagement ring at him deeply traumatized him and kept him from reciprocating Kaede's advances for a long, long time.
* HearingVoices: The reason he bought Frau at the auction is that he heard her silent prayers when nobody else could. When he mentions this, Frau goes from being ProperlyParanoid to literal HeroWorship.
* ImNotAHeroIm: Before he officially gets the title "Hero" in a different country than Sain, he responded to all declarations that he's a hero by going "I'm not a hero, I'm just a warrior you can find anywhere."
* SevenHeavenlyVirtues: He's got them all.
** Charity: Money is just a means to an end for him, not an end in itself. He was willing to free Frau, at no charge, despite winning her in a bidding war by paying 1 billion coin.
** Chastity: He greatly appreciates the female form, internally thinking "they're big and soft" when Marianne hugged him, and thinking "I'll sleep happily tonight" when seeing Marianne in the nude ''and'' having Kaede shove his face in her cleavage to minimize the exposure. But, he keeps it in his pants because he '''respects''' women and wants a deeply committed relationship first.
** Humility: He never toots his own horn and excessive praise makes him embarrassed, to the point he will flee a crowd of fanboys and fangirls who want his autograph.
** Kindness: He's a real sweetheart until he's given reason not to be, [[BewareTheNiceOnes but you don't want to cross that line.]]
** Patience: Unless it's an emergency, he's never in a rush, always willing to take the long road to his goals.
** Temperance: He seeks hidden treasures in dungeons purely for the thrill of the adventure. The money is nice, but he's perfectly content as long as he has food, shelter, and clothing.
* SympatheticSlaveOwner: He owns several slaves, yes, but he treats them so well, they refuse to be freed. Kaede '''would have died''' if Toru didn't buy her, take her to a doctor, and then ''go hunt down a dragon'' to get her the medicine she needs. Frau was very, very suspicious of him after he won her in an auction, but she lit up immediately and refused to be freed from "Her Lord" after realizing he's of the Dragon Man race, and she states Fairies like her are a ServantRace to the Dragon Men. It would be an insult to her tribe if she was freed by him.
* TraumaticSuperpowerAwakening: Being kicked out of the party and having all the female members berate him (not knowing there was brainwashing involved), left him feeling pretty hurt and worthless, then he kills a random monster and that causes his power to awaken.

[[caption-width-right:350:Wow! I'm so glad to have Master as my master!]]A fox beastkin girl Toru finds in the slave market. The slave merchant had previously advised Toru to consider other, more fitting slaves, but they were way outside his budget. Toru notices she has some kind of [Appraisal] ability when he approaches her cage and she cries out "300?!" before squirming away from him. He purchases her ''and then goes on to fight a dragon'' to cure her rare illness. She's been his companion from then on.
----
* BeastMan: She's part woman, part fox.
* ClingyJealousGirl: She gets ''very'' possessive where Toru is concerned, even pushing/pulling Marianne off him at several points. Her response to Toru unwittingly catching an eyeful of Marianne naked is to grab his head and push it into her own breasts.
* DelicateAndSickly: When she was in the slaver's care, she had a rare beast-man only disease that required a dragon's heart to cure.
* ExoticWeaponSupremacy: She fights with bladed fans. Even when she was a small child, she was able to wield them with ease despite being way too big for her.
* {{Expy}}: Of Rapthalia from ''Literature/TheRisingOfTheShieldHero''.
* FantasticArousal: Toru once pets her tail, after asking her permission, to admire its fluffiness. She gets quite hot and bothered by it, and Toru gets ''very'' uncomfortable.
* ForeignQueasine: The first time she cooks for the party, it looks like something out of a LethalChef scene. Toru reluctantly tries it, only to find it's actually quite tasty and nutritious.
* {{Hammerspace}}: To boost her utility to Toru even further, she has an extra-dimensional storage facility that allows Toru to take loot out of dungeons and ruins to use or sell later at his leisure.
* HappinessInSlavery: Toru is her master, and she likes it that way.
* HumanityEnsues: Inverted. She initially looks human, but once she grows up, her fox ears and tail become apparent.
* HypercompetentSidekick: Even as a child, her [Appraisal] skill was a boon to Toru. Once she's leveled up enough to grow to adulthood, she's been an excellent aid to him, despite being many levels lower.
* AnIcePerson: She specializes in ice-based magic.
* InnocentFanserviceGirl: She frequently rubs her breasts up against Toru, he got to see her panties when Panda first got mad and prove it's useful by flying under her skirt and lifting her into the air, and she frequently marches in on Toru while he's bathing (wearing an erotic bikini) to wash his back. Yet she doesn't realize the effect this has on Toru the vast majority of the time.
* IntimateMarks: Her slave tattoo manifests on her left breast.
* MysteriousPast: Where she comes from is something she doesn't mention for most of the story and Toru doesn't bother to ask. It's only in the very late chapters that her origin story is revealed.
* PleaseDontLeaveMe: She ''insists'' on being Toru's slave because she has abandonment issues.

[[folder: Panda]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/29_o.jpg]]
The first of two monster summon eggs Toru finds in the hidden room of a dungeon he is helping Marianne explore.
----
* BerserkButton: It gets mad the instant someone even suggests it's less than useful.
* RidiculouslyCuteCritter: Nobody knows exactly what it is, but it's so fluffy everyone loves to hug and cuddle it.
* TeamMascot: Panda is the iconic member of the party everyone remembers.

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5_o_11.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Skrree!!]]
The second of the summoned beasts Toru finds in the dungeon while helping Marianne.
----
* ActionPet: Unlike Panda, who can only float and carry stuff, this guy can and does actively fight, and very effectively at that.
* EquippableAlly: In addition to Toru being able to keep this guy in the summon mark, this creature can hide among Toru's effects, disguised as a belt or other piece of clothing.

[[caption-width-right:350:Here I had given up hope of finding the Chosen Race, and being captured brought me to him!]]
A fairy priestess Toru finds in the royal auction. He buys her and she helps him on his quest after learning he's a Dragon Man, meaning he's TheChosenOne her people need to deal with an existential threat, and the man she was sent to find.
----
* ArtisticLicensePhysics: '''While she's hovering off the ground''', she can send enemies far bigger and heaver than herself flying by hitting them with her hammer, without experiencing any knockback herself. How does that work, exactly?
* BedmateReveal: Toru wakes up to find her next to his head the very next morning after buying her.
* HappinessInSlavery: She considers being sold into Toru's slavery a small price to pay to get his services and rescue her people. The fact that he treats her like an equal regardless tickles her pink. In fact, she ''actively objects'' when Toru offers to free her.
* PintsizedPowerhouse: She's small enough to fit in Toru's hand and strong enough to send an ogre flying with a single hit from her hammer.
* SizeShifter: According to the other wiki, she gains the ability to grow to human-size or shrink back to fairy size at will.

! Hero party

[[folder:Sain]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6_o_3.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Damn it! Who is stealing my glory by clearing all these dungeons, ruins, and taking my rightful hero fame and treasure?!]]The EvilHero who leads the Hero party and unilaterally decided to boot Toru out, just so he can sexually exploit the now all female party, save himself. He was commissioned by the king to go out and defeat the demon king's armies, and later to capture and enslave some elves for the king's own hedonistic amusement. The first was doomed to failure, through no fault of his own, the latter ... turned out to be more problematic than expected, again through circumstances beyond his control, but when he's berated for that, snaps, and kills the king in question.
----
* AdaptationalSympathy: Downplayed. In the manga version of events, he doesn't leave Nei behind willingly. The attacking demons crippled him, leaving him unable to fight, and he was carried off by Soara and Lisa. Of course, the fight could have been avoided if he prioritized evacuating the locals, like a hero should, rather than focusing on his own glory and attacking demons. Then brutally subverted at the end of manga chapter 20 when he sees Nei getting brutalized and smirks (as much as he can with a swollen face) that she was a good lay, but is ultimately disposable and replaceable.
* AxCrazy: His calm, smug demeanour hides a sadistic, bloodthirsty and unstable young man that quickly resorts to disproportionate violence when confronted with any hiccups to his plans, such as when he tries to strangle Soara to death in a childish tantrum because Toru had already cleared out the dungeon ahead of him, then later trying to murder Toru himself for inadvertantly stealing his thunder.
* BackFromTheDead: When he winds up facing the Demon "King", he winds up dead without a fight. His magic items and "Hero" skill revive him. He tries to run, but Toru catches up to him and turns him in to answer for his many, many crimes.
* TheCasanova: He only sees women as sex toys and will try to brainwash any attractive woman he sees, the instant he thinks he can get away with it and frequently uses this ability on his female party members to keep them in line.
* CharmPerson: His skill [Demon Eye of Seduction] allows him to make himself completely irresistible to the opposite sex, no matter his behavior or character. with the only caveat being that he can't charm a woman who is either a higher level than himself or specifically protected from mind-control magics and effects.
* DidNotThinkThisThrough: In chapter 9 of the manga, he ''literally'' lets his groin do his thinking for him and uses his [Demon Eye of Seduction] on Marianne while he's in the presence of her father, the count and lord of the city. Even if the brainwashing effect had gone well, there's no way Marianne could have agreed to the sexual escapades he had in mind. The count would never have allowed it. Sain hadn't done anything at all to merit ''even asking'' for any of Marianne's time per the rules of noble society, and the count has many, many guards in his employ who wouldn't have taken kindly to Sain's attempt on their master's daughter. He's lucky to leave the mansion '''with his life'''.
* DomesticAbuse: He doesn't just sexually exploit his female party members after using brainwashing magic on them. Chapter 9 of the manga has him strangle Soara ''in public'' to vent his frustrations at arriving at a dungeon only to learn some other unnamed party has already cleared it and left the area. The only reason Soara lived to tell about it is that he noticed he was in public and, at the time, was more concerned about his reputation than his immediate gratification.
* EvilHero: He's appointed a "Hero" by the king of his home country, but he's nothing better than a brainwashing, skirt-chasing, villainous asshole who only cares about his own fame, wealth, and glory.
* HateSink: His redeeming features are so non-existent that it's very easy to hate him, especially since he's a guy who has no issue literally screwing over his childhood friend by sexually exploiting the poor guy's fiancé and then acting as if his friend is the problem.
* HellishPupils: To highlight that he has the [Demonic Eyes of Seduction] skill, every time he uses it to brainwash women, or try, his pupils turn into slits and [[RedEyesTakeWarning turn red]].
* HumiliationConga: First, there's the fact that every time he tries to get himself some quick fame, wealth, or glory, by following news of a dungeon, ruin, or disaster, that he can face, only leads to him arriving shortly after Toru already dealt with it and left the area. Then he's sent packing when the counts and merchants Toru's befriended wind up being offended by his own boorish actions. He tries to comply with the king's request for some lovely elven slaves only to be repelled by the elves with as much ease as if he's a helpless infant. He's defeated by Toru, whom he loved to look down on, with such ridiculous ease that Toru had no issue restraining and escorting him back to the capital of the very king he killed, even after facing and defeating the demon king in a very hard fight. As he's being taken away to trial and public execution, he's pelted with insults, rotten fruits and vegetables, and marched down the street virtually naked, even having women mock his junk. And since the demon king's dead, his [Demonic Eyes of Seduction] ability no longer works, so he can't just charm the nearby women to help him.
* ItsAllAboutMe: He thinks he's "The Hero Chosen By God" and therefore everything must work in his favor. If it doesn't, it must be destroyed, or bent to serve him. When he can't make it do that, he goes apoplectic.
* MoralMyopia: During his first reunion with Toru, he's absolutely murder-crazy, wanting vengeance for all the times Toru unwittingly stole his thunder by clearing out dungeons, ruins, etc. that Sain had his eyes on, but conveniently ignores that he's the one who used brainwashing magic to screw around with Toru's fiancé and turn the rest of the female adventuring party against him, exiling him unjustly. Kaede calls him out on it after punching him in the gut.
* NecessaryDrawback: His ability to brainwash women only works on women who are below or at his level. If he tries it on a woman with a higher level, it backfires. He tries it on Marianne, to learn she's a higher level and has her angrily hold her rapier to his throat, as she notices the attempt. Her father was also not pleased and calmly told him to GetOut, [[ShameIfSomethingHappened before he gets hurt]].
* PayEvilUntoEvil: Since the king ordered him to capture innocent elves for sexual slavery, which could have greatly hampered the ability to fight the demon king's forces, if not start an ill-advised war, purely for hedonistic reasons, killing the king is not unwarranted.
* ThePoorlyChosenOne: He's appointed by the king to be the human "hero" sent to fight the forces of the evil demon king, but he has to be one of, if not the worst choice for the job.
* RejectedApology: When Toru and the party are facing him down, after many offenses, especially selling Nei and Soara into slavery, he apologizes and tries to beg forgiveness, wishing to go back to when Toru, Lisa, and himself were all friends. Toru ''violently'' rejects the apology, stating that Sain's actions are unforgivable, and that they were never friends to begin with.
* SevenDeadlySins: Lust. Of course, he lets his genitals make decisions for him, lusting after attractive women and wanting to screw them over, literally, but he also lusts after power, fame, wealth, and glory. This ultimately results in his downfall and unending humiliation.
* TearsOfBlood: When he tries his [Demon Eye of Seduction] on Marianne and fails, he briefly weeps blood. It happens again when he does it to the elf Alyusha, failing again with the same result.
* ThrowTheDogABone: His life has only ''mostly'' been a humiliation conga after he cruelly cuckolded and evicted Toru from the party. After many trials, humiliations, and disappointments, including eating a plate of fried maggots out of desperation, he finally finds a ruins that Toru hadn't beat him to. Even so, he wasn't strong enough to free the sword he found in a pedestal there himself, but his party of Lisa, Sora, and Nei all helped him pull and together they got it out, with him smiling and crying TearsOfJoy that ''maybe'' he can redeem himself.
* WithThisRing: He '''openly flaunts''' that he's sexually exploiting all the female members of the party as early as chapter 1 when Toru sees they're all wearing identical rings.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Lisa. SPOILERS BEWARE.]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/5_o_5.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Why are you attacking Sain?! Toru, you are scum! Here, take this back! (Throws engagement ring at him).]] Formerly Toru's fiancé, she sides with Sain when the guy decides to kick Toru out of the party and decries her betrothed when the latter angrily retaliates to being cuckolded.
----
* AppleOfDiscord: She intentionally set Sain and Toru against each other, to sabotage the party's mission to go and fight the Demon King.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: She is initially presented as a kind, loving girlfriend who reluctantly agreed with exiling Toru from the party because he just couldn't keep up, but in reality, she's a much, much worse person than she appears.
* ComplexityAddiction: Somewhat justified. Yes, she could have razed Toru's entire village to the ground, especially killing off Slain, when she was a child, since she was already The Demon King, at level 800, but she instead put forward a convoluted plan to murder Toru's parents with a demon attack, comfort Toru as a "friend" only to betray him later by letting Sain cuckold him, and then kill or sell off the other two members Nei and Soara so Lisa, and Lisa alone would be Sain's "Lover" to lure him over to the demon's side. Sure, razing Toru's village would have been easy, but then she'd have to worry a new "Hero" would be chosen by the gods in a 100 years' time, carrying her Kryptonite factor. So getting Sain on her side would have been WorthIt. The only wrinkles in her plan were Sain's [Demon Eye of Seduction] that she unwittingly gave him by feeding his lusts, and Toru unlocking his true might and coming for both Sain and herself for payback.
* TheCorrupter: '''She''' is the reason Sain became such an abusive and exploitive asshole who goes around using brainwashing magic to sexually enslave women in all but name.
* DemonOfHumanOrigin: According to the other wiki, when she was a child, the demons came to her home village, killing her parents and took her away. After converting her to their new "Demon King," they left her somewhere she could be easily found and "rescued." The other wiki states she ''enjoyed'' the experience, especially her parents' SenselessSacrifice, dying trying to protect her.
* TheDogIsTheMastermind: She is the demon king the hero party, especially Sain, were sent to fight, hiding among humans to sabotage the war effort.
* EvilFeelsGood: She loves to gloat about how much she enjoys doing acts of evil and cruelty.
* NotBrainwashed: She pretends to be affected by Sain's ability to brainwash women, but she's always fully aware of what she's doing and just lets him think he's in control, until she decides the fun's over and reveals herself. In fact, she reveals she's the level 800 Demon King when Toru splashes her with the anti-brainwashing potion and it has no effect, proving to everyone that Sain's CharmPerson powers weren't affecting her at all.
* SuperEmpowering: She gave Sain the [Demon Eyes of Seduction] ability that allows him to brainwash and control women. The lout thinks it's something he earned, somehow, and had nothing to do with her.
* WalkingSpoiler: Knowing, really knowing, about this character will spoil the biggest twist of the story.
* WolfInSheepsClothing: She is introduced always being at a level near Sain's, which is nothing compared to Toru when he awakens and goes over level 300. In reality, she's ''actually level 800'', and gave Toru's entire party a tough fight when she stopped pretending.

[[folder: Nei]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6_o_41.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Stop it, Toru! What is the matter with you?]]One of the two other women travelling in the party. She ''literally'' kicks Toru out when he retaliates to Sain screwing around with his fiancé and flaunted it by giving Lisa, Soara, and Nei matching rings as proof.
----
* BareFistedMonk: Her body is her weapon. She's never seen carrying any tool to fight with.
* EtTuBrute: While she doesn't say anything, as she's being held upside down in manga chapter 20 by the lead demon of the raid, she and Sain lock eyes as he's being carried off by Soara and Lisa, while she was left behind to be killed, at best, or ''raped and then killed'' as the demons near her are indeed raping a female mage nearby. She sees that Sain is ''happily'' abandoning her to her fate.
* ForeignQueasine: When Sain is nearing the end of his rope and tracks down the rumors of an untouched ruins, the party stops at a restaurant nearby to said ruins only to order they serve what looks like fried maggots and other forms of insectoid larvae. The rest of the party is visibly sickened, but one bite and she ''loves'' the stuff. With no other form of sustenance available, the rest of the party reluctantly digs in as well.
* HappilyFailedSuicide: When she was healed from mortal injuries, the healing magic also removed the brainwashing Sain subjected her to. The memories of what she did in her brainwashed state made her utterly suicidal, until Toru branded her with a slave mark, stabilizing her mind.
* KickChick: She's seen fighting by using kicks.
* LeftForDead: When Sain decided she had outlived her usefulness, he left her to die at the hands of demons. Fortunately for her, Toru was nearby and came to her rescue.
* MadeASlave: When Sain thought she was holding him back by reaching her limit, he left her for dead. Toru managed to save her life, but when the brainwashing wore off, she became suicidal, so Toru reluctantly used slavery to stabilize her mind. Although she still bears the slave mark, she returned to their hometown.
* WhatTheHellHero: When Toru tackles Sain and starts wailing on the guy for screwing around with Lisa, she kicks Toru away and yells at him for being violent when the rest of the party, at least verbally, was trying to let him down gently because the level difference against him was just growing bigger day by day, not realising that Toru had clued in to the fact that Sain was screwing ''all three women.''

[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/6_o_42.jpg]]
[[caption-width-right:350:Toru, you're scum]]The mage of the party. Sain's brainwashing was so effective, she stayed with the party without complaint even after he ''strangled her'' to vent his frustrations over having the dungeons and ruins he had his eyes on cleared by others before he got there over and over again.
----
* AbominationAccusationAttack: In chapter 1, she calls Toru "scum" for attacking Sain, thanks to being brainwashed, but Toru didn't know about the brainwashing at the time.
* MadeASlave: Sain sells her into slavery when he thinks she's of no further use to him, either in the party or in the bedroom.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Milim]]
Introduced as an attractive human "woman" who Lisa and Sain recruit to replace Nei and Soara, who were LeftForDead and MadeASlave respectively. When the Hero party and Toru's party of heroes clash, '''he''' reveals that he's a male demon to Sain's horror.
----
* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: A guy who dresses up as an attractive woman to trick another guy into having a sexual relationship with himself, and the other guy never realizes it, despite ''actually having sex'' with him? ''Film/TheCryingGame'' anyone?
* HoneyTrap: He disguised himself as a very attractive human woman precisely to lower Sain's guard around him, all as Lisa had planned.
* UnderestimatingBadassery: He thought he could take down Toru's party with ease, even after Lisa warned him to be cautious, as they're likely at least level 200. Toru, alone, was over level 300. Naturally, without Lisa around to boost him, Toru and party take him down with ease.
* UnsettlingGenderReveal: When he shapeshifts out of his attractive female human disguise into his true male demon form, Sain is clearly horrified. To make matters worse, Milim taps his buttocks, indicating that ''maybe'' he had tricked Sain into having anal sex with him.

[[caption-width-right:350:Kaede, I'm so jealous of you! You get to travel around the world with Toru, while I'm stuck here in Eriante!]]The daughter of the town lord of Eriante. Toru and Kaede meet her by chance, having just defeated a hidden dungeon, as she was being attacked by bandits. After being rescued, she shows Toru to her mansion and then shows off her father's town, only for Toru to have to rescue her ''again'' as yet another dungeon came into being just under the city.
----
* GildedCage: Which Toru lampshades in chapter 9 of the manga, where Toru has to leave town to attend the auction at the royal capital and then continue on his journey. She may live in luxury, but she has no freedom. She can't even choose who she's going to marry. It's so bad, she's jealous of Kaede, ''a slave.''
* GreenEyedMonster: Which she tearfully admits. She's jealous of Kaede because the fox-girl gets to go with Toru on adventures and explore the world, while she's stuck at home in a GildedCage.
* HairOfGoldHeartOfGold: Golden blonde and loved by the people of the city for her kind and gentle nature.
* RegalRinglets: To signify that she's the daughter of a noble, her bangs and the back of her ponytail end in rings.
* RescueRomance: She gets very, very flirty with Toru as a result of him saving her life, ''twice'', even insisting she join him in exploring the ruins that the 6th general of the demon lord came from with him.
* RightForTheWrongReasons: She begs Toru to teach her how to fight so she can adventure with him. While her father never approves of the desire to adventure, and she has to tearfully see him go when he resumes his journey, being taught how to fight proves invaluable when Sain comes to visit and decides to treat her as a LustObject. She's able to resist his [Demon Eye of Seduction] and defend herself just fine.
* RoyalRapier: She is the daughter of a count and uses a rapier as her primary weapon.
* SceneryCensor: The manga keeps things PG by hiding her more sensitive body parts with strategically placed soap lather and speech bubbles.
* ShamelessFanserviceGirl: When she runs into her father's office, chasing Panda, only to wind up accidentally giving both Toru and her own father an eyeful, she just barely bothers to cover her chest, and makes no effort to leave the room.
* ShowerOfAwkward: She chases Panda, who fled from being bathed by her, right into her father's office, while her father and Toru were present. It was awkward all around.
* TeachMeHowToFight: She begs Toru to teach her how to fight in chapter 6 of the manga, due to being tired of having to be constantly protected and being frequently targeted.
* TookALevelInBadass: She goes from being a noble so sheltered she could be taken down by a handful of level 10 bandits, to a legit level 100 swordsman who even "hero" Sain can't track if she comes at him seriously.

----
* [[MySisterIsOffLimits My Mistress Is Off-Limits]]: She's perfectly okay with Marianne hitting on Toru, Toru and Marianne working and playing together, up to and including adventuring in ruins, but she's firmly of the opinion that Toru better mind his p's and q's and be on his best behavior at all times, or she might just decide to "discipline" him with her [Assassin] skills.
* {{Ninja}}: Her job is assassin and she uses all the tools of the ninja, outfit, weapons, etc.
* NinjaMaid: Literally. She's both a ninja (assassin) and serves as Marianne's personal maid.
* [[PiratesWhoDontDoAnything Assassins Who Don’t Assassinate]]: Her job is [Assassin], but she's a kind and loyal maid to Marianne. She has no on-screen wet work to her name.
* TookALevelInBadass: She was already impressive before, but after helping Toru, Kaede, and Marianne clear a dungeon, she's a level 80 [Assassin].

[[caption-width-right:350:Sain, you have no further business here. GetOut [[ShameIfSomethingHappened Before you get hurt.]]]] Marianne's father and lord of the city Enrieka.
----
* DotingParent: He loves his daughter very much and borderline spoils her sweet.
* EnlightenedSelfInterest: Shipping Toru and his daughter Marianne together will make '''her''' happy, yes, and he's of the opinion Toru wouldn't mind either. But doing so will also boost his own standing with the kingdom, and Toru being an ally of the country certainly can't hurt.
* FacePalm: When his daughter Marianne runs into his office wearing nothing but water and soap bubbles and then tries to act innocent by barely covering her breasts with her hands and going "Ahn," all he can do is sigh and cup his face at how ridiculous she's being.
* GetOut: When Sain tries to brainwash Marianne using the [Demon Eye of Seduction], right in front of him, and fails, he tells the EvilHero to leave, before he gets hurt.
* HelicopterParents: Justified by the fact that he's a count, his daughter's the heir apparent, and has had ''two'' attempts on her life less than a day prior. When Marianne asked for permission to investigate the ruins beneath his town that the 6th general of the demon lord was using as a staging point, he has her decked out in head to toe plate-mail with a helmet that has tiny visors. While Toru appreciates the gesture, he points out how impractical such an outfit would be in the narrow ruin corridors, so she comes back with a more fitting chain jerkin.
* ParentsAsPeople: He wants his daughter's happiness, yes, but his obligations as the town lord come first.
* RomanticWingman: He conspires with Johnathan and King Armand to give Toru a "Hero" title. Sure, it will benefit the kingdom to have a talented adventurer like Toru as an ally, but what he really wants is for his daughter to be happy, and he knows she wants to go adventure with Toru. Normally this would be abjectly impossible considering her rank and station, but if the guy she's adventuring with is a certified hero, that's a different story.

[[caption-width-right:350:Your party, Manyu Brigade, are the heroes of the country! Rise Toru and Kaede!]]The king of a country neighboring the one where Sain and Toru began their journey. He awards the Manyu Brigade the title "Hero" for the party as a whole, rather than "Hero" for Toru alone.
----
* TheGoodKing: For the extremely dangerous task of defeating the Queen Ant demon general, Toru is awarded 700 million coin, a "hero" title for his entire party, and the soldiers who died in the battle to contain the nest were given heroes' funerals. He also otherwise runs his territory fairly and he's a very virtuous ruler.
* LoopholeAbuse: The human territories can only have one human with the job [Hero] but there's no law stating that an entire party can't be given a "Hero" title. So he awards Toru and Kaede's party the "Heroes of the Kingdom" title after rescuing the capital from the Queen Ant demon and her hive.

[[folder: King Barseille]]
The king that originally put the Hero party together to go after the Demon King.
----
* AssholeVictim: Considering that he sent Sain to capture innocent elves to subject them to sexual slavery, especially at a time when the war with the demons is going poorly and Humanity needs all the help it can get, he deserves no mercy when Sain has enough of bowing and scraping to the guy and kills him.
* TheHedonist: He cares more about his own pleasure than dealing with the Demon King or ruling his nation. He is known as "The fool king" as a result. In fact, he sends Sain to an elven village to capture and enslave a high elf for his exclusive use to "prove he's more worthy to be known as a hero than the Manyu Brigade."
* StupidEvil: Humanity is ''losing'' the fight with the demons, and needs all the help they can get. So he sends the man who is heralded as Humanity's Champion to the nearest elf village to capture and enslave as many female elves as he can?!

[[caption-width-right:350:No matter how close to His Majesty and I you were, we couldn't give you the title so easily.]] The merchant in charge of the auction where Frau was bought and who provided Toru and Kaede a quaint but classy pre-furnished house to rest in between adventures.
----
* EnlightenedSelfInterest: Allowing Toru to put the Elixir on sale at the auction house was an excellent way to gather the attention of nobles and other big spenders that his auction house is a place where some really, really exotic stuff can be found.
* HonestCorporateExecutive: He runs his businesses and the auction house fairly.
* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: He allows Toru to auction off a bottle of Elixir, last minute, during the final bid of the auction, and pay for Frau's purchase price from the proceeds. Toru had more than enough for the purchase of the fairy regardless, but it was a welcome concession.
