| 1 | * Luke breaks his own thumb in order to escape from his restraints, and he then manages to fend off the villagers, accidentally shoot one dead, and burn down the village, ''with just one hand available''. He's MadeOfIron indeed. |
| 2 | * Dom has a couple moments of bravery throughout the film. First when he opts to bury Hutch despite the group still being in danger, and then again when he tries to go out with some dignity instead or crying or begging for mercy from the cultists when Moder comes for him. |
| 3 | * Luke's escape from the cultists. For how many people they've killed to extend their own life, it becomes apparent how pathetic and weak they really are when someone can finally take them on. |
| 4 | ** In the attic, Luke finds the oldest batch of cultists, all too mummified and weak to move, but still living from all the sacrifices they've wrought. So Luke just silently, easily, lights them on fire. All they can do is scream in pain, unable to stop their demise. |
| 5 | ** When faced with the older woman who sacrificed Dom, Luke quickly knocks her down with a punch to the face. |
| 6 | * At the very end, Luke's refusal to bow to Moder, even when doing so might save his life. Each time the monster pushes him down, he stands up again. By the end, his look of clear, furious defiance is something to behold. Even more so badass on his part, is that once he escapes past the edge of the forest to freedom and looks back to see Moder unable to leave her home, she can only roar at him in defiance. Does he do what he did the entire movie in reaction to those sounds, shaking and running in pure fear and shock? Hell no. He roars right back. It takes balls to roar what amounts to a non worded verbal “fuck you” into a God’s face in defiance. |
