* FridgeBrilliance: The fact that Homer accidentally ''blows up one of the town's main streets'' seemingly ends up an example of WhateverHappenedToTheMouse, as the plot instead focuses on he and his friends getting eight-year-old Ralph Wiggum into office... but it could also explain just ''why'' Homer is suddenly so interested in politics here. He's likely only putting on a show to make sure nobody, ''especially'' Marge (since the whole incident was spurred by her reminder he was to start a diet that day), realized ''he'' was responsible. In short, it may all be a ''deliberate effort'' for Homer to become an IdiotHoudini.
