* ScifiGhetto: The movie was hardly a critical success at the box office. It was marketed as a horror film, but in the end it explained everything, probably annoying the hell out of people [[GainaxEnding who like their horror left mysterious and unexplained]]. * CounterpartComparison: Pandorum adapts many aspects of Greek mythology, chiefly the myths of Pandora (cause of all the wicked things in the world), Elysium (place of rest for heroes), and The Odyssey (wherein the ship-borne protagonist seeks to reunite with his distant wife, guided by the wise warrior goddess Athena, encountering tribal cannibals). Additionally the character Manh has the likeness of the war god and enemy of Athena, Ares. Whom wielded a spear, was wounded around the abdomen area of his body, and represented personal courage which Manh had shown through out the film.

Don\'t worry I was the one who typed this!

* CounterpartComparison: A lot of people think this film rips off DeadSpace, TheDescent, TheHillsHaveEyes, {{Sunshine}}, [[IamLegend I am Legend]] , and Ridley Scott's {{Alien}}. But that is probably not the case.
** The plot greatly resembles ''[[TwelveThirteen 1213]]''. With mutant zombie-like creatures on a spaceship, and man with no memory of who he is. It also has a twist in it that is parallel to the twist in this film. With the kicker at the ending hinting that it is an {{Homage}} to the game by having [[spoiler: 1,213 people on Tanis]]. It's plot also resembles the film ''Eden Log'' which also has the hypersleep concept, memory lost factor, and deadly mutants in it. Like ''Eden Log'' hero goes on a mission, and slowly gains an understanding of who he is.
** Pandorum started filming in May of 2008 long before the ''DeadSpace'''s release. The name Pandorum is extremely similar to Pandora in Greek Mythology and Tanis is a ancient Greek name. The film's plot's also seems to have a strong connection with the epic The Odyssey. Elysium is the place of sleep just before the place of death in Odyssey. Like Odysseus, Bower is on a ship in the sea trying to reunited with his wife. While being guild ed by a female warrior (Nadia), much like like how Odysseus is guided by the war goddess Athena. Obysseseus has to face Cyclops and the Laeystryians who are cannibalistic giants, while Bower had to face cannibalistic creatures as well. The fact that the character in Deadspace is searching for his girl like Bower is doing for his wife is most likely coincidence.
** Yes, the mutants like the creature from the ''The Descent'', but so does the mutants in ''C.H.U.D.'' and the goblins from LordOfTheRings. So yeah, the look isn't really new. They were obviously modeled after the zombies from ResidentEvil since Pandorum's producer directed the film version to the game.

* TheWizardOfOz: The four characters Dorothy, Scarecrow, Tin Man and Cowardly Loin had to reach broom carrying witch's castle while facing her flying monkey. While in Pandorum four characters Nadia, Bower, Mahn, and Leland have to reach the reactor which is the home of the mutants lead by it's staff carrying leader. Both Nadia and Dorothy were the only females in the group. And both The Loin and [[spoiler:Leland]] were cowardly.

*** In The Wizard of Oz, the wizard wasn't what he seemed. In Pandorum [[spoiler:Payton/Gallo]] wasn't what he seemed either. And Manh sounds close to Tin ''man''
*** The Wizard Of Oz is an allegorical, political retelling of The Odyssey. It is not a 'remake' of the Wizard of Oz it uses elements from both the original Odyssey and 'Wizard'"you're out of the woods, you're out of the dark, you're out of the night- Step into the sun, step into the light. Keep straight ahead for the most glorious place on the face of the earth or the sky" It's the song that plays as Dorothy and her band approach the Emerald City. [[spoiler:the hypersleep pods launching from the ship to their new home, Tanis.]]

** MythologyGag / EasterEgg- Paul WS Anderson may have only served as a producer on Pandorum, but in many ways director Christian Alvart and co-writer Travis Milloy have crafted the ultimate Paul WS Anderson {{Homage}} film. It is to be noted that Paul W.S. Anderson had previously directed ''EventHorizon, AlienVsPredator, Film/ResidentEvil, and Film/MortalKombat.'' Paul WS Anderson may have only produced, but his fingerprints are all over Pandorum.
** The mutants move like xenomorphs, hunt like yautja, and look like [[ResidentEvil zombies]].
** The hypersleep mask look very familiar *cough* [[spoiler:Subzero and Scorpion]]*cough*
** The windows on the pods looks like [[spoiler:the windows on the spaceship in EventHorizon.]]
*** Both films have the characters hallucinate(see things) and [[spoiler:containing speeches about man giving in to his evil side]]
** The weapons used by Bower and the leader of "The Hunters" look similiar to the ones used by a[[spoiler: {{Predator}}]]
*** Mahn holds his own in a dual with the hunter leader like [[spoiler:Danny Glover's character holds his own against a yautja in a dual in the {{Predator}} sequal.]]
** Nadia looks like a younger version of [[spoiler:Ellen Ripley's clone in [[{{Alien}} Alien Resurrection]]]] and she is a lone female fighter with lost memories of her past much like [[spoiler:Alice from Resident Evil.]]
** Bower pulls dead skin off of himself similiar to how [[spoiler: the creature in the third {{Alien}} film shades it's skin as it grew.]]
*** The orginal scipt to the film was set on a prison ship. The characters played by Antje Traue and Cung Le were inmates. Kinda like the third movie.
