* 's death in , and the entire death challenge leading up to it. When it's too obviously clear that won't complete the challenge before the other three contestants do, and exchange the following last words before death:
--> [[spoiler:[=Matpat=]]]:
--> [[spoiler:[=Rosanna=]]]:
--> [[spoiler:[=Matpat=]]]:
It ends with telling to be brave as is led to the witches' altar to be sacrificed.
** After 's death, comments on how heartbreaking it is knowing that is dead. Even after the group cleanses the artifact, EVERYONE takes a moment to acknowledge 's death and that it sucks.

** Season 1: Justine, Lele
** Season 2: Lauren, Gabbie, Alison
** Season 3: Colleen
** The entire thing itself is NightmareFuel. I mean, you and several of your friends are locked in a certain territory until sunrise, and you will have to betray your own friends for your survival, and then everyone else is doing the same and you only have about 20%-30% chance of survival...and you may die a painful death yourself, and be traumatized from witnessing a death or more (or something along those lines), and will likely have PTSD if you survive this BS.

** Not a death, but still just as saddening: In death challenge has both of them dreading either one of them dying, both of them vowing right before they go into the challenge that whoever comes out, they'll get vengeance on the ones who voted them in. repeatedly apologizes to after she completes both the first room AND the final room in the challenge, with . Once does win, is relieved that she'll stay alive, but is equally horrified because she and were under the impression at the time that would die due to his loss in the challenge. Both of them cry over this, joining each other in the elevator and hugging each other before heading out of the Funhouse together is what makes this even more saddening.

** 's elimination in was DEFINITELY this.

** More like "prop failure", but in season 2 episode 7, the guns used to shoot the targets for one puzzle are very clearly painted Nerf blasters with some steampunk additions. The main clue for this is that they're loaded with orange-tipped foam darts, something easily visible, though it's covered somewhat in editing by added muzzle flashes.

* BaseBreakingCharacter: Joey. He's the show's protagonist, thus giving him PlotArmour, but isn't an NPC, and the fact that he's an active participant but isn't in the danger that the other contestants are in is frustrating for some viewers.
