** This book series, pretty much like its sister series "Literature/ATwistedTale", has its fair share of both fans and detractors. People enjoy the books for giving considerable depth to some of the villains from the Disney movies (and the Beast), analyzing their characters nad actually giving some rather interesting twists to some scenes from the original movies. Meanwhile, people dislike them for feeling that it doesn't fully commit to the PerspectiveFlip aspect, as well as the fact that they feel that portrays it the Villains in a way too sympathetic light, when it doesn't go the other way around with preestablished heroic characters. Those feeling charitable will simply say that the series is decent but not neccessarily great, feeling that both fans and haters have their points.

* FanonDiscontinuity: While this might vary with the books depending on how people view them, "The Beast Within" might take the prize for the one most people would rather forget about, not only for the fact the Beast wasn't even the villain of the story to begin with, but also for making him much more unlikable than he already was during the prolouge and using some unneccesary CerebrusRetcon to iconic scenes from the film that also contradict many facts about it.

** The subplots involving Princess Tulip Morningstar and The Odd Sisters. It's either a great way to enhance the stories and add more worldbuilding or they take too much focus away from the main stories.

** Why would you make a horrible monster out of the Beast when Gaston is RIGHT THERE!?!?

** Why would you make a horrible monster out of the Beast when Gaston is RIGHT THERE!?!?THERE!?!? It seems that Serena Valentino has eventually realized this, since she has now written a book from Gaston's perspective.

* ContinuityLockout: The series seems like it would be full of stand-alone books, but in reality it contains an interconnected story with many Call Backs and Continuity Nods. It's a must that you read them in order or else you'll be confused by who all the characters are.

* LesYay: The Queen and Verona have their fair share. They're consider each other sisters and they're just as close as the Queen is with her husband. After the King dies, Verona becomes a LivingEmotionalCrutch to the Queen. The Queen also becomes quite jealous when Verona finds a husband.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: PerspectiveFlip novels featuring some of the most interesting antagonist figures in the Franchise/DisneyAnimatedCanon? A great idea, but Fairest of All dilutes the Evil Queen's evil by presenting her as more of a victim of abusive figures than anything else, The Beast Within goes full RonTheDeathEater on the Beast and lets the Odd Sisters become a SpotlightStealingSquad, and Poor Unfortunate Soul is is more interested in what they, Princess Tulip, and Nanny are doing than in Ursula's story, which is more told than shown. The books come off as the author using WolverinePublicity to push original characters.

** In WesternAnimation/SnowWhiteAndTheSevenDwarfs, there was a skeleton locked up in the Queen's dungeon. In Fairest of All, considering has been titled Fairest in the Land, it would've been interesting to see the Queen go as far as locking up and leaving to rot, just so she can be the Fairest. Instead, the Queen just bans from the Kingdom. Nothing more.
