It's "discreet". The spelling "discrete" refers to a mathematical concept.

A celebration of the brand of futurism Plus Ultra represented as a whole, and very much in the spirit of rides about the future Plus Ultra backed in the 30s, the attraction's queue starts in a location known as the Futureport and the ride's opening lines of "Next Stop: The 21st Century!" bring to mind the "Next Stop: Tomorrow" station sign hidden beneath Small World. The suspended vehicle design facing inward could make dropping guests through to a hidden portal room a little more discrete. When the attraction was torn down years later, the story about a sinkhole was actually a cover for Plus Ultra's efforts to destroy the gateway beneath the pavilion.

* Well, there's another facet of this problem. Potential needs an occasion to become reality. Creative people can't solve problems they're being kept away from, in an ivory tower where nothing they make really changes a thing. They'd turn cynical or hedonistic, see Nix.

* Creator/GeneRoddenberry: His show ''Series/StarTrek'' was an optimistic portrayal of the future, something that Tomorrowland supported to the point of naming their initial space vessel ''Enterprise''. However, by the 70s, Gene, in his frustration over trying to get the show back, came into creative differences with Plus Ultra and eventually was exiled.

[[WMG: This movie was derived from a TabletopGame/GeniusTheTransgression campaign.]]
It has all the elements: Tomorrowland itself is a bardo, all the Genius tropes show up...

This isn't a WMG. This is outright stated in the movie itself.

[[WMG: The film is a social commentary of how we lack optimistic future fiction and the overabundance of dystopian/apocalyptic fiction.]]
If you look at it, when it comes to the Worlds Fair scene, it is set in a time where there was a lot of fiction that inspired the hope of a bright and happy future. There were a lot of examples of optimistic future fiction, such as TV shows like ''TV/{{Star Trek}}'' and movies like ''2001: A Space Odyssey'', to which both had inspired a lot of modern tech (including cellphones, MRIs, and even tablet devices). We looked at a lot of the fiction of the time and saw how the future could be. However, in the 1970s and 1980s and throughout the 1990s and 2000s, dystopian and apocalyptic fiction are at a maximum number. You can't go three feet without running into a novel, movie, TV show or video game that involves some sort of aspect of society's collapse. And as a result, we don't hope for a better tomorrow or a bright future where everything can be better, and there are people that are prepped and hoping for societal collapse. The normal adult characters all represented as embittered or appeared to be let down because the world is not what they want it to be (like how every kid used to hope for a better and brighter tomorrow). Casey is a representation of how those adults used to be: she's a dreamer and she wants to know if all the problems can be fixed so that a better tomorrow can come. She is the kind of person that hopeful futuristic fiction would inspire, leading her to invent items that can make the world better. Various fiction, no matter what medium, tend to be influential towards younger audiences. Many people remember what it was like watching the original ''Star Trek'' when it came on TV. Many people remember that feeling they had when they watched ''Star Wars''.

Basically, this film is a commentary on how we need to start cutting back on the dystopian/apocalyptic fiction and start producing fiction with a hopeful future that we can strive for once again, get back to trying to find hopeful inspiration for a world better than our own.

* Debatable; For centuries, we have debated the relative contributions of nature and nurture in the creation of human potential. The horror of the 'nature' argument: What if Einstein had been born in a gutter in Calcutta? The horror of the 'nurture' arguement: for lack of the proper environment and training, our jails and ghettos are filled with Mozarts, Jim Thorpes, Sun-tzus, Joans of Arc. But either way, potential is wasted outside of an environment where it can develop. Tomorrowland is a place where the best and brightest can develop their potential freely, so it's unlikely its recruits would have been even a fraction as successful on Earth.

Jossed by deleted scenes; he's turned the Monitor into a super-power source, and doesn't want to turn it of just for the possibility of saving the world they left behind.

[[WMG: Nix had a good reason for not wanting to turn of the Monitor.]]
Specifically, it's a ''Monitor'' - it allows Tomorrowland to observe every corner of the globe. And though all the focus is on the seemingly-inevitable Bad Future it predicts, the concepts behind it - tachyon detection, collapsing quantum states - are well-known all over Earth. Some amoral government agency could be within weeks of building their own, using it to find Tomorrowland, and '''invading.''' Hell, the BadFuture could simply be TheWarOnTerror taken interdimensional and fought with hypertech weapons! Nix is perfectly justified in not wanting to stop monitoring Earth's warmongering nations - especially in the wake of [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Edward_Snowden#Revelations Edward Snowden]] revealing that the NSA ''really'' wants a Monitor of its own and is already using their knock-off to kill people all over the world with drone strikes.

* Creator/AlanTuring: a computer scientist and cryptologist who broke the Enigma code in WWII, he was one of the early pioneers in artificial intelligence research. After being found guilty of being gay and sentenced to chemical castration, Plus Ultra decided to not let his genius end in a world where he had gone as far as he could. They took him and faked his death from cyanide poisoning. After taking him to Tomorrowland, they treated him for the castration and once he was well, Turing went back to work on artificial intelligence. Within a few years, he made the breakthroughs necessary that made Athena possible.
