[[WMG: Beth is autistic]]
Beth has clear autistic traits, but most people seem to attribute that to her trauma and upbringing. However, I found there were various directorial choices made specifically to show that she isn't who she is as the result of trauma and upbringing, which in turn suggests that she has these traits because she is in-fact autistic. I think the reason for this directorial choice is to avoid unfortunate implications by implying that trauma is a prerequisite for genius.
