I am from Denmark, although I currently living in Japan where I am studying a PhD in physics. I like all sorts of fiction, hence why I discovered this site in the first place. I am also fairly interested in philosophy, history and the Japanese language.

I am 25 years old and from Denmark. Am currently working on my masters thesis in physics. I like all sorts of fiction, hence why I discovered this site in the first place. I am also fairly interested in philosophy and history. I have lived in Japan for about a year and still study Japanese every once in a while, by now I've finally graduated to reading proper books in Japanese.

As the more perceptive of you may have realised, my real name is in fact Mathias. I hail from the country of Denmark and am 24 years of age. This is also the reason that my English may not always be perfect. Not that this stops me from writing walls upon walls of text, but you should consider yourselves happy that we aren't writing in Danish, because trust me, then those walls would be far far worse.
I am currently studying for a master's degree in physics. After I was done with my bachelor's degree and before I started on my master's, I lived in Japan for about a year. Still, despite my choice of study I am also a huge fan of all sorts of fiction. Be it books, movies, television, anime you name it. I game a little sometimes, but it's not something I do with nearly the same fervour as the aforementioned consumption of fiction. In fact my attention span when it comes to games is pretty short.

So yeah, I have wasted way to much time in the world of fiction and here is a very tiny amount of the stuff which I have enjoyed.

* I am a huge anime fan having seen more than 200 series, so I'll just list a few of my favourites
* Legend Of Galactic Heroes - This is my all-time favourite anime
* Monster - And this is my second favourite. After that, judging which one is third becomes to hard.
* Rose of Versailles
* Irresponsible Captain Tylor
* Crest of The Stars and the subsequent series Banner of The Stars 1 and 2.
* Escaflowne
* The Twelve Kingdoms
* Slayers
* Maison Ikkoku
* The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya - I like the light novels a lot as well.
* Gundam - Mostly UC, though I like some of the other series as well. Special mention goes to Yoshiyuki Tomino who has also made other shows I like such as Aura Battler Dunbine
*
* Leiji Matsumoto while I haven't finished all that many of his series, they are incredibly atmospheric and I love them at a certain level, though some of them don't really drive me forward. Special mention goes to Space Battleship Yamato which while not exactly being by Matsumoto originally and not being his best work (it's actually very different from his solo work and lacks some of the awesome atmospheric melancholy) is probably his most well-known series and also has the best opening song ever.
* Azumanga Daioh
* Anything by Satoshi Kon (RIP)
* Noein
* Gankutsuou
* I also enjoy quite a few shounen series, though I don't hold any delusions that they are great. They do however entertain me. Some examples are Hunter X Hunter (I love this show, but I'd be hard-pressed to tell you exactly why), Yu Yu Hakusho, Kekkaishi, Hikaru No Go and Full Metal Alchemist:Brotherhood which is the version I prefer. In the case of FMA I do think it is pretty damn good and that it pretty much expands beyond the confines of most shounen shows becoming a great show in it's own right. Still damn overrated by some people.

* Once again, just some of my favourites. I have no idea how many I've read. A lot though.
* Discworld and really anything by Terry Pratchett who just so happens to be my favourite author.
* A Song Of Ice And Fire (and some other GRRM books)
* A lot of other somewhat deriviative fantasy, though some if it is somewhat original.
* One of my favourite books when I was little was Literature/JimButton by Michael Ende who is generally a terrific author as well.
* A lot of classic sci-fi, authors like Isaac Asimov, ArthurCClarke, PhilipKDick etc. This includes more soft sci-fi/space opera ala Dune as well.
* Every once in a while I do also read classics, like say works of Fyodor Dostoevsky, Tolstoy, Thomas mann, Mark Twain and some Danish authors you've never heard about. I also read other kind of "classics", like say Jules Verne.

* Once again, not an exhaustive list, I have seen quite a few more, probably in the vicinity of 40-50
* Babylon 5 - My favourite live-action television show ever. In case you hadn't guessed yet, I like space opera.
* Farscape - And this is my second favourite.
* Buffy and Angel
* Xena
* Doctor Who - Mostly the new series, which is very entertaining even if it isn't always the most intelligent.
* Stargate SG1 - I find this entertaining, but it is not really good as such. I mean, no babylon 5, that's for sure.
* Stargate Atlantis - same as above, though it is overall worse.
* Firefly - Extremely overrated, but still good.
* Dexter
* Montypythonsflyingcircus
* Blackadder
* Red Dwarf
* I do like some Japanese LA shows as well, such as Ryusei no Kizuna, Bloody Monday, Liar Game, Akihabara@Deep and a few others. Recently I've also gotten somewhat into the taiga historical dramas, which are certainly a nice change of pace compared to the usual teenage J-drama...stuff.

* Some of my favourites, I have no idea how many I've seen (anyone else getting the feeling of deja vu?)
* DrStrangelove
* A Clockwork Orange
* Well, anything by Stanley Kubrick really except maybe The Shining.
* Brazil
* Tideland
* And once again, almost anything by Terry Gilliam
* Life of Brian
* A lot of Akira Kurosawa movies, special mention goes to Ikiru, Rashomon and Ran.
* Quite a few B-movies which I tend to enjoy for their so-bad-it's good qualities and also hammy camp movies that are geuiniely trying to be funny
* A lot of weird Japanese movies along the lines of "vampire Girl Vs Frankenstein Girl"

* AvatarTheLastAirbender - one of the few western animated shows that I really like. Better than your typical shounen anime, though not all of them. Refreshing with a different perspective on an engaging animated series, rather than a Japanese one.
* Disney movies. It may be nostalgia speaking, but I believe that it is also due to their inherent quality. The good old Disney movies simply rock, even if they at times have a rather tenous relation to the material they are adapted from. That said, I don't like all of them (Snow White comes to mind). not to fond of most Disney movies as of late though.

* The Heroes of Might and Magic series
* The Metal gear Solid series
* The Disgaea series
* Final Fantasy X
* Planescape Torment
* Warcraft III though not the actual game, but the insane amount of custom maps some of which are awesome.
* Diablo II and it's clone Titan Quest
* And some more (though far less more than in the cases of movies, television, books and anime)

As the more perceptive of you may have realised, my real name is in fact Mathias. I hail from the country of Denmark and am 23 years of age. This is also the reason that my English may not always be perfect. Not that this stops me from writing walls upon walls of text, but you should consider yourselves happy that we aren't writing in Danish, because trust me, then those walls would be far far worse.

I finished my bachelor's degree in physics, with what can eventually be a minor in mathematics last summer. Yeah, I am one of those people. Right now I am taking a little detour to Japan for a year before I return to continue with my master's degree. Still, despite my choice of study I am also a huge fan of all sorts of fiction. * The Spoony Experiment - My favourite caustic critic by far. Only person who ever managed to make a let's Play that I found, not only bearable, but also very very funny.
* Thatguywiththeglasses - Somewhat. I watch Nostalgia Critic and Linkara and sometimes some others. It's meh, as in I'm entertained well enough for those 20 minutes, but I don't exactly find it to be great at all. liked both Linkara and NC better at first, though the shift might be in me and not in them.
* The Angry Video Game Nerd - Sometimes he is incredibly funny, but at other times his scatological jokes becomes incredibly painfullly unfunny. But overall I really like him and James Rolfe does other things pretty well too, I tend to like stuff such as his Monster Madness.
