* TechnologyMarchesOn: A major part of the conflict in the movie is based off the fact that a phone network is necessary for the characters to use in order to use the Internet, which is no longer a problem with modern technology. One massive plot point is that the sheer amount of emails that Tai and Izzy are receiving is also clogging the bandwidth and causing huge amounts of lag, much to the pain of [=WarGreymon=] and [=MetalGarurumon=]. Later turns into a Chekhov's Gun where Izzy nails Diaboromon with all of the other emails, causing ''him'' to slow down long enough for Omnimon to destroy him.

There's also the scene where T.K. and Matt desperately try to find someone out in the country with a working computer and internet, which wouldn't be an issue in the age of smartphones.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: People who didn't grow up in the TurnOfTheMillennium when the movie released would likely have a hard time understanding some of the major sources of drama of the movie, as dial-up connection isn't a thing anymore.

Specifically the trope page says "A work set in the Present Day at the time of its creation, but so full of the culture of the time it resembles a deliberate exaggeration of the era in a work made later."

Not really relevant as the trope mentions that works that apply were set in what was the present day at the time of the release

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: People who didn't grow up in the TurnOfTheMillennium when the movie released would likely have a hard time understanding some of the major sources of drama of the movie, as dial-up connection isn't a thing anymore. Though, for what's worth, the movie is actually set in the year 2000, where such a connection was the most common way to access internet.

Adding a brief explanation. As the movie IS set back when dial-up was commonplace, the movie doesn't 'make no sense', and the real issue is that most people may not understand what the drama comes from by now.

* UnintentionalPeriodPiece: Most of the movie no longer makes any sense now that dial-up connection isn't a thing anymore.
