** The prisoners from sector 28, in their game of Russian Roulette, kill [[spoiler:'B.E.S.T. Shankar', the caterer]], who was helping Jai in his plans to break out [[Roshan (Ramon)]] from the prison, who had not only taken a massive amount as reward money, but was also charging the prisoners plenty for their supplies.

** Tony Almeida into Tejpal Sandhu (Season 1) and Vedant (Season 2)

** Jai doesn't end up getting addicted to heroin to go undercover to capture Roshan Sherchan- but turns alcoholic after [[spoiler:the death of his wife Trisha (Teri)]], but still ends up being put on 'medical leave', in alcohol rehab.

* AdaptationDistillation: The Indian version's second season is based largely on the original's third season, but has elements of the second season mixed in. Also, Shivani Malik, the ATU chief in Season 2, seems to be loosely based on Erin Driscoll from Season 4 of the original, but performs the role played by Michelle Dessler in Season 3, so far.

* DarkerAndEdgier: Far and away, darker and grittier than most Indian crime/suspense shows. Anil Kapoor's character in this show is darker and rougher than the one he played in the original series- but then, he was a well-groomed President in the original.

** Jack's daughter Kim, into Jai Singh's daughter Kiran and son Veer.

* DrugsAreBad: Early example being Kiran's and Janhavi's male friends, who kidnap them [[spoiler:to hand them over to Yakub, for drug money. This eventually causes Dev's violent death at gunpoint]]. Simran, a random girl whom Veer met at a restaurant, noticed the hard way when [[spoiler:drug addicts raided her apartment looking for drugs stashed away by her brother]].

* [[IHaveYourWife I have your son]]: Jai Singh uses this on the Pune Central Jail Girish Joshi superintendent to get [[spoiler:Roshan Sherchan (Ramon Salazar)]] out.

** George Mason was shown as stiff, unrelenting, inflexible, but still a capable officer. His counterpart in this show, RAW boss Gill, is shown as incompetent and occasionally unlucky.

* ManipulativeBastard:
** Yakub. Good lord, Yakub. [[spoiler:He's still under Raja's thumb.]]
** Karthik Chandrasekaran, a.k.a. [[spoiler:fake Abhay Gupta]], who was responsible for kidnapping Trisha.
** Megha Singhania, Aditya's aunt, who will go to any length to keep him off the Prime Minister's chair, so that Prithvi, her son, can take it. She's not averse to using [[spoiler:intrusive reporters and snipers]] to achieve her goal.
** Abhilasha Grewal becomes this to find Jai Singh's whereabouts, by taunting Nikita and Tej about their respective love lives in which Jai was involved.

** With a change in title sponsor for Season 2, Jai's vehicle of choice is a Maruti-Suzuki S-Cross.

* ShootTheHostage: When Jai Singh is taken hostage by [[spoiler:Ravindran, the LTFE chief]], and confined at his brother Siva's residence, he somehow breaks free and takes Siva's daughter Radhika hostage. [[spoiler:Ravindran]] promptly responds by killing Radhika, and when Siva confronts him over this and a few other losses, he too is killed.

* AdaptedOut: The character of George Ferragamo, the Palmers' therapist. Also Mike Novick, whose counterpart, CBI Agent Bhagwat, is a completely different character, and some of Mike Novick's work is done by Aditya's cousin, Prithvi.

* AdaptationDistillation: The Indian version's second season is based largely on the original's third season, but has elements of the second season mixed in. Also, Shivani Malik, the ATU chief in Season 2, seems to be loosely based on Erin Driscoll from Season 4 of the original.

* AdaptationalBadass: Kiran Rathod, the Kim Bauer character, [[spoiler:kills the assassin posing as Max Ferraro when he's not looking]]. Even Aditya Singhania seems to show up as a more intimidating, daring version of David Palmer.

* HellholePrison: Pune Central Jail in Season 2. The prison itself appears very medieval, with small cells, but once a fire is triggered in the prison, there's virtually no fire safety and worse, even when cops arrive at the time of the fire, they refuse to release any of the prisoners, all of whom are in danger of burning to death- and one of them succumbs.

* AdaptationDistillation: The Indian version's second season is based largely on the original's third season, but has elements of the second season mixed in.

** Any episode set in Mumbai, Pune or elsewhere in Maharashtra will have plenty of Marathi spoken.

* DecompositeCharacter: Jack's daughter Kim, into Jai Singh's daughter Kiran and son Veer.

** More of a You Can't Leave Now moment- When one of Raja's men refuses to blow up the power station in the top secret detention facility, Raja kills him.

* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler:Ravindran, the supreme leader of the LTFE]]. This is also used by the ATU to save Aditya Singhania's life (guess how they do it). The final scene (and absence of a silent clock therein) hints that [[spoiler:Trisha, who suffers a heart attack,]] is still alive.

* BetterToDieThanBeKilled/DrivenToSuicide: This eventually happens to [[spoiler:Jiah (the Jamey Farrell counterpart)]], when found out to be Yakub's mole in the ATU, and in a major deviation from the original, this was a confirmed suicide.

** Much of RAW appears to be this to the ATU, given how much they try to gain control of them, initially.

** Yakub has a gangster named Nepali, named after feared gangster Bharat Nepali from the Mumbai underworld.

** RAW chief Gill, who gets blackmailed by a potentially lethal injection from Jai Singh, to reveal his source when Jai Singh merely administered a glucose injection. Eventually, once he's on the same side as Jai, he is a lot more competent, but somehow, couldn't handle the part of [[spoiler:returning Bala to Ravindran]] properly.

** Mumbai Police also had one fat constable who harasses Trisha (Jai's wife, Kiran's mother) and Abhay[[note]]Not quite[[/note]] (father of Kiran's friend, Janhavi), who are looking for their missing daughters, for a hefty bribe. Averted with city Police Inspector Narvekar, when he sees Jai's badge and offers to help him track down and capture a terrorist accomplice hiding there. [[spoiler:He doesn't survive.]]

* {{Bollywood}}: Averted. It may be filmed in Mumbai, but it does not have song and dance numbers- and is a faithful adaptation of the original show. Far from Bollywood, this is definitely the HeavyMetal of Indian TV shows. In fact, even the background music is the same score composed by Sean Callery in the original.

* FakeNationality: The terror masterminds are revealed midway through the season as members of [=LTFE=], a Sri Lankan Tamil terror outfit based on the [=LTTE=]. Yet, they hardly speak any Tamil, and speak a lot of Hindi- very unlikely of real Sri Lankans. Even the NotEvenBotheringWithTheAccent bit does not show up in this adaptation.

* HeyItsThatGuy: Plenty of veteran film/television actors, and a few newcomers, make brief appearances in the show.
** Veteran film/theatre actor Anupam Kher plays the role of RAW agent Wasim, who secretly informs Jai Singh. [[spoiler:He didn't live beyond the second hour, killed in gunfire.]]
** Veteran television actress Suchitra Pillai, known for glamorous roles occasionally, plays the part of the heavily dolled-up journalist Mehek Ahuja, who tries to witch-hunt Aditya Singhania. [[spoiler: She too doesn't make it, electrocuted and blown up in a bathtub.]]
** Terror mastermind Yakub is played by Ankur Vikal, a.k.a. [[Film/SlumdogMillionaire Maman]]. [[spoiler:He lets Jai Singh kill him when he is captured.]]
** A random struggling actress whose car gets hijacked by Jai Singh is played by Richa Chaddha, famous for her role in Gangs of Wasseypur.
** Financial Services boss Tarun Khosla, known for transferring massive amounts of money, is played by former MTV India VJ Rahul Khanna, who also acted in a few films and TV shows. [[spoiler: He dies of asphyxiation during Jai Singh's violent interrogation.]]
** Shabana Azmi, another veteran Bollywood actress, plays the part of Abhilasha Grewal, this show's counterpart of Alberta Green. An overly dramatic, arrogant counterpart.
** SFG chief Pradhan is played by Major Bikramjeet Singh, an ex-Serviceman, famous for roles played in advertisements.

* TrappedByMountainLions: Because Kim Bauer's story has been split into that of two characters, Kiran and Veer, we find that Kiran has a lot less to do in the second half of the first season, while Veer getting busted in a drug raid in which completely unrelated characters were has absolutely nothing to do with the plot.

* AdaptedOut: The character of George Ferragamo, the Palmers' therapist.

** Many of the violent/sexual scenes in the kidnapping and captivity sequences are heavily toned down.

* CarFu: A Maruti-Suzuki Omni, from out of nowhere, [[spoiler:knocks down Kiran's friend Janhavi, escaping her captors, who lies unconscious until an ambulance picks her up]].

* AdaptationalBadass: Kiran Rathod, the Kim Bauer character, [[spoiler:kills the assassin posing as Max Ferraro when he's not looking and then threatens ATU agent Siddhant, not trusting him]]. Even Aditya Singhania seems to show up as a more intimidating, daring version of David Palmer.

** Averted with the police from the town where the military academy (where Veer is studying) is located somehow go undercover and bust up a drug trade, but mistakenly arrest [[spoiler:Veer]] as a suspect, only to release him when [[spoiler:the Major from the Academy turns up]].

Having bought the rights from FOX, Kapoor is now making his own Hindi-language version of the show, starring himself as intelligence officer Jai Singh Rathod. The first season (a second has already been approved) started airing in October 2013 and is a fairly straight remake of Day One, albeit set in Mumbai, India- not surprising, since some episodes are written by writers from the original show. The Palmer family is completely replaced by a family believed to be based on the real-life Nehru-Gandhi family of Indian politics with a few similarities with some of the Palmers, while the Serbians have been replaced by [[SriLankanCivilWar a Sri Lankan Tamil terrorist outfit closely based on the LTTE]]. Additionally, Jai Singh also has an elder son, Veer, whose story is similar to part of that of Jack's daughter Kim.

* BetterToDieThanBeKilled: This eventually happens to [[spoiler:Jiah (the Jamey Farrell counterpart)]], and in a major deviation from the original, this was a confirmed suicide.

** Veteran film/theatre actor Anupam Kher plays the role of RAW agent Wasim, who secretly informs Jai Singh. [[spoiler:Pity he didn't live beyond the second hour, killed in gunfire.]]

* NotQuiteDead: [[spoiler:Ravindran, the supreme leader of the LTFE]]. This is also used by the ATU to save Aditya Singhania's life (guess how they do it). The final scene hints that [[spoiler:Trisha, who suffers a heart attack,]] is still alive.

This was shown on the Viacom-owned Colors network in India; this is available on Dish in the US and Sky in the UK, with the possibility of English ClosedCaptioning on at least the latter. Then again, [[BilingualBonus there are plenty of English dialogues]] in this show.

* AdaptationalVillainy: The Serbian militia in the original series were acting on their own free will, and running the assassination attempts on David Palmer. In this show, the LTFE is found to be following orders to assassinate Aditya Singhania from [[spoiler:his sister Divya, who is very loosely based on Nicole Palmer]].

* AdaptationInducedPlotHole: Because the Jack Bauer character, Jai Singh, has two children, the Kim Bauer story is split into two parts- which are left separate, and unresolved.

* {{Bollywood}}: Averted. It may be filmed in Mumbai, but it does not have song and dance numbers- and is a faithful adaptation of the original show. In fact, even the background music is the same. It does, however, fit in cinematography style of underworld/horror director Ram Gopal Varma, without too many quirky camera angles.
* CanonImmigrant: Jai Singh Rathod's son, Veer, who is a cadet in the National Defence Academy. Jack Bauer had only one daughter, Kim. Veer's part in the story is loosely based on a part of Kim's part in the story. While the Singhanias are loosely based on the Palmers, the character Vikrant Maurya is another original created for this show.

* DeadPersonImpersonation: Yakub's hitman as the photographer, and terror accomplice Karthik Chandrashekharan posing as [[spoiler:Abhay Gupta, father of Kiran's friend Janhavi, who was really killed in a sabotage]]. An ATU agent, Raunak Srivastava, is gunned down by Shekhar, an LTFE member, who impersonates him [[spoiler:to kidnap Jai Singh's son, Veer, from the Military Academy]].

** FunWithAcronyms: The Singhanias' political advisor is known only by his initials, KK. His full name is never revealed.

* CompositeCharacter: WNCC's reporter Mehek Ahuja, who is a blend of journalist Maureen Kingsley and therapist George Ferragamo. The journalist, since that was her primary role, and the therapist, since she got a lot closer to the Singhanias, this show's counterpart of the Palmers, and was [[spoiler:killed by a hired assassin under orders from the local Carl Webb character and the other Singhania matriarch]].

** A more forceful version happens when he grabs and pins down Nikita, suspecting her of being a terror mole, until Jia, the IT officer, confirms that it wasn't Nikita who was involved with the files transferred to the card held by fallen terrorists. The interrogation even uses [[ShoutOut the same English lines]] from the original seriess. Immediately {{deconstructed}} by guilt.

** [[spoiler:Jia]] happens to be planted in the ATU by Yakub.

** Jai Singh, Nikita and Jia are coming close to finding out information about the mystery passenger on the crashed plane and the source of information on the SD card found on a terrorist. However, a phone call from ATU agent Tej bring RAW boss Gill and his men to the ATU premises and order a lockdown- so the trio can't access the information at the right time.

* ObstructiveBureaucrat:
** Tej Pal Singh sticks to the rules of the ATU, and RAW, which often governs the ATU. However, when he realises something is amiss, and [[spoiler:Jia]] is a mole for Yakub, he eventually helps Jai clear his name and take down Yakub, and stands up for Jai when Abhilasha tries to extract information from him.
