[[spoiler: But sadly after the events of Season 2, it's unknown if the same can be said for ''[[SacrificialLion Nanno]]''...

[[spoiler: Starting in "JennyX" when she sees Nanno helping Jane out of her situation, she decides to needlessly meddle in that as well so that it will drive Nanno into stealing Jane's identity which will make her feel guilty as a result and later in "The Judgement" when she sets Junko free in order to attack her own mother, deducing that Nanno might end up trying to save her, which she does and it results in Waan spitefully stabbing her for interfering. Yuri is finally happy that her plan to overthrow Nanno is a success and forms a BigBadDuumvirate with Junko.]]

* {{Expy}}: Nanno is one of Manga/{{Tomie}} with the main difference being that Nanno is not as evil or self-absorbed as Tomie.
** Yuri could basically be this for most corrupt politicians in the world. Because like them, Yuri is also shown to be a very self-absorbed, corrupt, narcissistic and sadistic tyrant who enjoys torturing and abusing others who are below her, regardless whether they are evil or innocent and even attempts to slander and overthrow Nanno as well. It is even clear that Yuri is only interested in relishing the powers she got and protecting her own assets rather than helping people and she abuses them instead for her own amusement, using "revenge" as excuse.

* DownerEnding: Season 2 ends on a very bleak note with [[spoiler: [[TheBadGuyWins Yuri]] finally defeating and "assassinating" Nanno by pulling a DespairGambit on her and hiring Junko as her partner and they go on to hunt their next victims. What's even worse is that ''for the first time in the series'', neither of them are punished for their actions.]]

* DoesThisRemindYouOfAnything: [[spoiler: Nanno and Yuri's dynamic could be that of DomesticAbuse. Just put the supernatural and karma elements aside and it's more like Nanno trying to escape from the clutches of an abusive woman in power (Yuri), which is made clear as Nanno is shown to be fearing Yuri and what all could she do to harm her due to her unpredictability. Yuri uses her higher status and connections to undermine Nanno in any way by subjecting her to psychological and emotional abuse and finally "murder" her for daring to fight back against her and gloating to Nanno she will get away with everything because of her high status. Even Nanno's first meeting wit Yuri is almost like a victim being charmed by her abuser before the abuser in question reveals their true colours to them after gaining their trust.]]

* DarkestHour: [[spoiler: The Season 2 finale "The Judgement" serves as this.]]

* DiscOneFinalBoss: In "Liberation", Teacher A gets killed in the middle of the episode, causing the [[SoftSpokenSadist murderous]] Headmaster to finally take over. He is even willing to murder his own students.

* DarkIsNotEvil: Nanno has dark hair and supposedly the daughter of Satan, but she's only there to expose the sins of humans who are worse off than her and she even is shown to [[spoiler:fall into a relationship with TK. {{Averted}} with Yuri who is fully pure evil.]]

** "Lost and Found": [[spoiler:She may have had TK be framed for stealing the money of the principal, but it was all in the hopes that he gets to be with his father again. Unlike most students being angry at her, TK thanks her and understands that this was his karma for his thieving ways.]]
** "True Love": [[spoiler:Thanks to Nanno revealing everyone's secret loves, Mrs. Naruemol gets to fall in love with her female co-worker with applause from faculty and students alike.]]

* SlidingScaleOfBeauty: The all-girls school in "The Rank" uses a system to rank its students based on beauty. It's treated like somewhat of a caste system, [[TheBeautifulElite with the top ten students being treated like the elite or royalty]], living in a pristine mansion while other students have to deal with sub-par living conditions. Being fat is also treated as unbeautiful, with Chompoo, a plus-sized student, being in the lower ranks and treated like a lower lifeform by others. [[spoiler: Only when she loses weight that she rises up the ranks and wins the Shining Star award.]] This, of course, satirizes how much our society values outward appearance versus what's inside.

* SeriesHiatus: [[spoiler: Probably the most frustrating one yet since it had a DownerEnding with Yuri having overthrown and defeated Nanno and the latter's fate is unknown . But till this date, it is now on hiatus and it's unknown if it will resolve the depressing cliffhanger.]]
