[[folder:This character was poorly executed]]
* YMMV.ABronxTale: Many critics preferred Francis Capra (Calogero age 9) over Lillo Brancato (Calogero age 17) and wished the film focused more on the character's younger years.
* YMMV.ANTFarm: Fletcher's talent is rarely used in the series, and if so, it's generally unimportant. The traits that the show most focuses on is his ButtMonkey status and ditziness. In a lot of plots, he's rarely even used at all for anything other than humor.
* YMMV.ANewDawn: "Wasted" might be too extreme of a word as the character in question does get plenty of scenes, but the most consistent criticism for this story is that Hera Syndulla is the only main character who has a backstory that's barely touched upon. However, said critics acknowledge the justification in that her backstory is probably being saved either for [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsRebels the TV series]] or ''Lords of the Sith'' (which features her father, [[WesternAnimation/StarWarsTheCloneWars Cham Syndulla]], as a character). WordOfGod confirms that Hera's history simply "wasn't his to reveal."
* YMMV.ANightmareOnElmStreet2010: Three of them, in fact. Dean was only useful in the opening sequence, then Kris gets it soon after, but not before Freddy messes around with her, causing her to reunite with her ex-boyfriend Jesse. Finally, Jesse gets accused of murdering her while she was sleeping, and gets killed in a jail cell.
* YMMV.ANightmareOnElmStreet3DreamWarriors: Nancy Thompson. Although everyone celebrates her return, some fans feel that the script doesn't seem to know exactly what to do with her. She does two important things for the plot: delivering exposition about who Freddy Krueger is to Dr. Neil and the children, and helping them to discover their skills in the dream world. But besides that, Nancy does nothing more to contribute to the plot, with the Supporting Protagonist Kristen having more screentime. Add to that the fact that Nancy is the only one who doesn't gain skills in the dream world, it is Dr. Neil who defeats Freddy in the end by burying his body in sacred soil, and her unexpected death at the end.
* YMMV.ARoyalNightOut: The Queen Mother in real life was known to be a charming and witty CoolOldLady. She doesn't feature too much in this film, mostly as a rather stuffy UpperClassTwit.
* YMMV.ASongOfIceAndFire: Due to the huge number of characters, as well as its huge number of character deaths, it's likely every fan has at least a few character they wish could get more attention.

While his father might be scary because we see so little of him (and what we do see is horrifying), his brothers get basically no page time, when it would've been interesting to see their individual personalities and dynamics with one another and their parents. It's also a damn shame Lars and the Queen show up so little, since they're the only two people Hans actually loves and love him, which gives him more depth.

Both were quite entertaining, Diane especially as a ClusterFBomb. Neither of them get so much as name-checked in the 2005 portions. * YMMV.AChristmasCarolGoesWrong: After Chris has a HeelRealization and gives Robert the part of Scrooge, Chris essentially takes it over again once the crew goes off, remaining in character to finish off their production. * YMMV.AClockworkOrange: Mrs. Alexander (Adrienne Corri), who got raped by Alex and the Droogs, apparently died of the trauma offscreen (or from pneumonia in the film) if you believe her husband, Mr. Alexander. * YMMV.AGoofyMovie: The movie does an excellent job cramming in a ton of defining characteristics for Stacey, the [[MotorMouth fast-talking]] GenkiGirl student body president and one of the nicer teen characters, yet her only function in the film proper is throwing the Powerline party, [[ShipperOnDeck nudging Roxanne to talk to Max]] and [[PairTheSpares getting paired at the last second]] with [[spoiler:Bobby]]. As mentioned above, there's also a credible fan theory about her having a crush on Max but [[IWantMyBelovedToBeHappy wanting him to be with the girl he already likes]]; those implications alone, along with the story potential of giving Max at least ''one'' female friend, would be worthy of an entire other movie!
* YMMV.AHatInTime: Moonjumper, full stop. Despite having been entirely cut from the final game (with his role as Subcon Forest's main antagonist and backstory as "what became of Vanessa's prince" given over to Snatcher), Moonjumper is ADORED by the fandom, to the point where he's been reworked into the game's lore via near universally accepted {{Fanon}}. It isn't uncommon to find fanfiction and/or fan art where he's nonchalantly included with the other characters as though he were still a part of the game, often to the confusion of new fans who are just coming off of playing it.
* YMMV.ANightmareOnElmStreet3DreamWarriors: Jesse and Lisa, the two survivors of the second movie, are not even mentioned in this movie or the rest of the franchise. Jesse and Lisa never consider looking for her to ask for help in defeating Freddy, something she would certainly do. It is even more bizarre when the script throws a diary out of nowhere with Nancy's information about Freddy, although we never saw Nancy writing a diary in the first film.

** An inverted Hulk is a good enough idea, but there have been previous versions of the character. This could have easily set the stage for the return of the Devil Hulk or Guilt Hulk, and instead Kluh was invented for the role.
** More broadly, a number of fans and reviewers have pointed out that most of the inverted heroes are acting in rather generically evil ways, though the characterizations of the inverted villains have been met with praise for the way the baddies are portrayed as retaining their negative traits even when trying to do good.
** From the inverted villains side, Jack-O-Lantern was barely shown at all. The nature of his inversion was almost never explored in contrast to pretty much everyone else.
* YMMV.AbsoluteCarnage:
** Ironically enough for a Carnage series, the Carnage Symbiote falls under this, having been confirmed dead before it even started, aside from the fragment still confirmed to be inside Normie Osborn. This has resulted in similar critiques directed toward the Venom symbiote in the main title.
** Subverted with Cletus as while it was unclear at first whether he was in control of himself due to his body being a corpse, Donny has clarified that Cletus is still the one in control but has become undead like the Sin-Eater.

Added DiffLines:

* YMMV.AboutTime:
** Charlotte, the first love of Tim before he met Mary, disappears in the second half of the film. The fact that she was played by Margot Robbie also increases the feeling that the character could have been better used.
** Kit Kat, Tim's sister, doesn't really do much in the film despite Tim calling her the most fun and interesting person he knows, and even her history of troubled relationships gets somewhat glossed over. When Mary points out to Tim after the crash that even if they want to help Kit Kat, she has to want to get better herself, that just amounts to Tim admitting to her about his time-travel powers and trying to fix her problem anyway.
* YMMV.AbraxasHrodvitnon:
** The [=MonsterVerse's=] canon has been criticized for [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter doing barely anything with Vivienne's character before she was killed off in an unceremonious manner]], plus her characterization was largely confined to the supplementary and spin-off materials. Here, as one of the story's two main {{protagonist}}s she is given much more development and brought BackFromTheDead.
** In the old Toho movies, Ghidorah being DemotedToDragon over the course of the films and becoming the mere tool of {{Human Alien}}s was part of the character's VillainDecay. In [=AbraxasVerse=], [[spoiler:Ghidorah was originally created by human-like aliens as a BioweaponBeast, but it turned on them and exterminated them all with implicit ease]].
** In ''Film/GodzillaVsKong'', [[spoiler:Maia Simmons]] is also somewhat considered a case of TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter. In the [=AbraxasVerse=], [[spoiler:Maia]] is a more rounded character, and her redeeming qualities and relationship with her father get expansion in the [=AbraxasVerse=] Timeline.

Added DiffLines:

* YMMV.{{Abominable}}:
** The three hunters being dispatched in just one scene is fairly disappointing, as many fans would have liked them to have a whole subplot and maybe even reach the cabins and join in the action there.
** CJ doesn't get much screen time or development, even though what screen time she did get leaves fans liking her character and wishing she'd had more scenes fighting and fleeing from the monster. That she never really interacts with Preston is also disappointing.

Even when Cat sees her brother's fiancé who might have wed Robb if he hadn't broken his vows with the Freys, Catelyn's main comparison between Roslin and Jeyne is that Jeyne has better hips for child-bearing.
** The TV show thankfully averts this, granted with a monkey's paw of completely replacing the character with a CanonForeigner called Talisa Maegyr. The TV show introduces Talisa in season two (the adaptation of "A Clash of Kings") and makes her a foreign aid worker who serves as a battlefield nurse for the Starks and who's relationship with Robb plays out in season two in a far more organic fashion, where they fall in love over the course of the season and Robb ultimately defying his mother to marry Talisa rather than go through with his promise of marrying a Frey daughter after the war. Sadly, to ensure no loose ends from the Red Wedding, Talisa is the first casualty of the Red Wedding, made worse in that she's pregnant with Rob's child and Walder Frey explicitly having Talisa stabbed in the stomach in front of Robb and Catelyn.

** Tibbet is played by Creator/PatrickMacnee, [[Series/TheAvengers1960s John Steed himself]], the ''other'' (or perhaps [[Series/ThePrisoner1967 other-other]]) iconic British spy character. Yet despite his charming, instant rapport with Creator/RogerMoore, he's stuck firmly in the {{sidekick}} role and killed not long after being introduced. He should have [[TookALevelInBadass hung around longer]] and gotten more involved with the plot.
** Pola Ivanova, the Russian KGB agent Bond meets halfway through the plot. She's charismatic, fun and much more interesting than Stacey, and could have teamed up with him, becoming the main Bond Girl for the rest of the movie. Unfortunately, she disappears halfway through the plot after being deceived by Bond, and her plot is basically padding.
** Some fans also think the fact that the second half of the film is set in San Francisco could have been a good opportunity for Felix Leiter to return, especially considering that the character has been absent since ''Film/LiveAndLetDie'' (1973). Instead, a new generic agent is introduced, [[spoiler:only for him to die quickly.]]
** May Day is often seen by fans as one of the best Bond villan henchman, played perfectly by the charismatic and exotic Creator/GraceJones, who devours all the scenes she's in. She could have been the main Bond Girl in the movie, as she's much more interesting than Stacey, deciding to help Bond after realizing that Zorin doesn't care about her. She could even have survived and become a recurring character like Jaws. Unfortunately, she dies after her moment of redemption at the end of the movie.
** Stacey Sutton begins the movie as a strong, independent woman who rejects Bond's romantic flirtations and threatens him with a gun when he breaks into her house. For a moment it looks like we'll have a new [[Film/ForYourEyesOnly Melina Havelock]] in the franchise... and then she has to be saved by Bond when Zorin's henchmen invade her house, and after that she becomes a new [[Film/DiamondsAreForever Tiffany Case]]: a woman who screams for Bond's help and needs to be saved all the time. Even her unraveling Zorin's plan in the end is not enough to make up for it.

Time for a wick check! The math says that 64 wicks will be needed. Near-exactly 90 percent of the wicks come from YMMV pages, so I'm gonna start from there in alphabetical order. From these 64 wicks, I split it into xxx examples.

[[folder:Seems Okay ]]
* YMMV.ACornerOfTheUniverse: Hattie’s mother has an older brother, Hayden Jr., who lives in California, but he only makes a brief appearance in the end of the book and he’s not mentioned for much of the plot.
* YMMV.AFineFeatheredFrenzy: Gorgeous Gal could have had more appearances in other Woody Woodpecker shorts, such as a recurring antagonist / love interest. But that was her only appearance in the series. '''Just remove the quick love interest part and this example is all good'''
* YMMV.AGoofyMovie: Other characters are downplayed or given very little screen time in order to focus on Goofy and Max, in what little runtime the movie has.
** Despite being major characters in the show, Pete and PJ only appear in a handful of scenes and we don't get to see their bonding time.
** Despite being built up as Max's love interest, Roxanne gets five minutes of screen time, and what little we do see suggest that she's just as awkward and shy as Max, which could have led to some interesting CharacterDevelopment or a subplot of her own. It doesn't help that she's absent from the sequel, though she is in a couple of {{lower deck episode}}s of ''WesternAnimation/HouseOfMouse'' that are focused on her and Max's relationship. According to an interview with the director Kevin Lima, the writers wanted to make her more of a TomboyWithAGirlyStreak, but none of these traits are present in the film.
* YMMV.AHatInTime:
** Mustache Girl, in spite of being the main antagonist of the game, only has a major presence for the first and final chapters of the game. This was lamented, as many a player consider her an interesting character, and there was disappointment she didn't appear in Arctic Cruise or Nyakuza Metro.
** Many people found Queen Vanessa to be an interesting character with an amazing dark backstory, and were disappointed that she's only relevant to one mission. She isn't so much as mentioned anywhere else, besides being the focus of the story found in the purple time rift.
** Downplayed with Bow Kid. No information about her is given in game, and even Word of God has said pretty much nothing about her besides her name and some bits about her development process. Many people who hoped for at least some hints as to who she was in-universe were very disappointed, but also not surprised, as her sole purpose in the game is to be a character for Player 2 to control.
* YMMV.AMostViolentYear: Gerety the tough Teamsters boss urging Abel to take a tougher stance against the hijackers can feel a bit underused, [[spoiler:Especially in the aftermath of Julien going on the run.]]
* YMMV.APlagueTaleInnocence: Arthur is critically underused. He is in the background in the first chapter he appears, gets captured, then gets rescued only to be left behind in the base. The first chapter where he gets any real screentime is [[spoiler:the chapter where he dies]].
[[/folder]]

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Random complaining]]
* YMMV.ACinderellaStoryOnceUponASong: As one reviewer put it, the film is more concerned on showing just how creepy Creator/MissiPyle can be than exploring the other characters. For example, Angela disappears halfway through the movie without explanation.
Many viewers expected Luke to eventually fall in love with Katie for the person she is. Instead, he barely interacts with her.
* YMMV.ACourtOfThornsAndRoses:
** Prince Dagdan and Princess Brannah, the creepy twin emissaries from Hybern. They show a lot of political cunning and power, engaging in [[{{Telepath}} literal mind-games]] with Feyre [[spoiler:and playing her as good as she plays them]]. Their presence also has the possibility of giving first-hand insight into Hybern culture. [[spoiler:Too bad they're killed off a third of the way through ''A Court of Wings and Ruin'']]
** Amren. She's not a fae, but is instead an otherworldly being heavily hinted to be [[spoiler: an angel of death]]. She's small but fierce, drinks blood, broke out of a deadly prison, and...[[spoiler: sheds her otherworldly form to become a High Fae, and that's the last we hear of her abilities.]]
* YMMV.ACureForLove: [[spoiler: Matt's]] mood-lightening PluckyComicRelief will be missed. '''Seems like it's actually a TooCoolToLive example too.'''
* YMMV.AFrozenHeart: Hans' family is barely seen, despite being the driving force behind his evil.
* YMMV.AFunnyThingHappenedOnTheWayToTheForum: Or rather, actress, as the songs cut from the film mean that Patricia Jessel as Domina only gets to display her magnificent singing voice on three words with her rendition of "something for everyone" in the final song. And she passed away just two years later at age 47 without doing any other musicals, robbing us of hearing what she could do with a bigger singing part.
* YMMV.AGuideToRecognizingYourSaints: Laurie's two friends Diane and Jenny abruptly disappear in the second act and only show up in the background in a couple more flashbacks. Both were quite entertaining, Diane especially as a ClusterFBomb. Neither of them get so much as name-checked in the 2005 portions. Jenny being OutOfFocus makes sense considering she didn't exist in the first draft - and was added in to make up for Eleonore Hendricks not getting the part of Laurie.
* YMMV.{{AIR}}: Face it, Minagi, Kano, and Yukito get thrown away and never referenced again.
* YMMV.AJStyles: AJ was a dedicated company man and one of the best wrestlers of his generation (see his matches with [[Wrestling/KazuchikaOkada Okada]] or [[Wrestling/HiroshiTanahashi Tanahashi]] in [[Wrestling/NewJapanProWrestling NJPW]]), he was nonetheless badly treated by TNA management despite being TheFace of the company. His departure in 2015 started an exodus of other big TNA stars like Wrestling/SamoaJoe and Wrestling/ChristopherDaniels. '''Seems to actually ScrewedByTheNetwork.'''
* YMMV.AMillionWaysToDieHard: Both Hideki Tagaki and Elsa Gruber, which would been interesting to see how they interact with John after the events of the [[Film/DieHard first film.]] [[spoiler: Instead, they get [[DroppedABridgeOnHim killed off as quickly as they appeared.]]]] '''Also potentially TooCoolToLive.'''
* YMMV.APBio: Both Devin and Colin, [[EnsembleDarkhorse two of the standout members of the student cast]], [[ChuckCunninghamSyndrome vanish without a trace in season 2]]. '''Actually ChuckCunninghamSyndrome.'''
[[/folder]]

[[folder:Hey, look at this cool fanfic idea I had!]]
* YMMV.ACatInParis: How did Dino becomes a literal "cat burglar"? How did he and Nico meet? These are the questions that plague many minds on such interesting characters.
* YMMV.AChristmasCarolGoesWrong: After Chris has a HeelRealization and gives Robert the part of Scrooge, Chris essentially takes it over again once the crew goes off, remaining in character to finish off their production. It might've been nicer to have Robert take on this role, allowing him to play Scrooge a little bit longer than he did.
* YMMV.AClockworkOrange: Mrs. Alexander (Adrienne Corri), who got raped by Alex and the Droogs, apparently died of the trauma offscreen (or from pneumonia in the film) if you believe her husband, Mr. Alexander. Having her [[CollateralAngst killed to serve as her husband's motivation]] feels cheap to modern readers, and likewise it would have made the story much more gray and ambiguous if it was her at the end receiving and welcoming Alex and deciding to either kill him or help him out of her objections to the Ludovico technique rather than her husband, which would be missing the point of the film since she was the MoralityChain of Frank.
* YMMV.ACourtesanOfRome:
** Players have noted that Sabina's storyline is highly paywalled even though she should've helped Arin unconditionally by serving as her eyes in Aquila's household for free, which would've given her more relevance to the story.
** According to [[https://lizzybeth1986.tumblr.com/post/181086672707/note-this-is-an-essay-that-came-out-of-reading this post]], Xanthe could've been a memorable, fleshed out character in her own right as a "regular citizen" who goes on about her work in the midst of a turbulent political climate and refuses to accept change because of the harsh challenges ahead. In doing so, she would scoff at Arin's fears and Lena seemingly falling prey to conspiracy theories, which would've provided the perspective of someone trying to go on in their daily life. Players are angry that she was shipped away to Sicily as a means to write her out without exploring her character.
Both could perfectly well appear in the psychiatric hospital and reveal to Nancy more evidence of Freddy's return since the last time she defeated him. '''Without the second sentence, this is just ChuckCunninghamSyndrome.'''
* YMMV.ANightmareOnElmStreet4TheDreamMaster:
** Kristen, Joey and Kincaid, the three survivors of Dream Warriors, are quickly and brutally murdered at the end of the first act, with forty minutes left before the movie ends. Many fans consider this an insult and feel it makes their entire journey in Dream Warriors a waste of time. It would have been much more interesting to see them trying to find a way to defeat Freddy, only this time without the help of their mentor Nancy.
** Dr. Neil Gordon, one of the few survivors of the third movie, is never mentioned in this chapter. You would imagine that Kristen would warn Alice of his existence so she could look for him and ask for his help against Freddy, including access to Hypnocil. Or that Freddy would want to take revenge on him, considering that he was primarily responsible for his defeat in the previous movie. But he never appears again in the franchise and his fate is not revealed. Especially irksome, since he could have easily met the new teenagers at Kristen's funeral.
* YMMV.ANightmareOnElmStreetPart2FreddysRevenge: Nancy Thompson never appears in the film, with the characters just citing that she lost her sanity after witnessing the deaths of Glen and her mother. Jesse and Lisa never consider looking for her to ask for help in defeating Freddy, something she would certainly do. It is even more bizarre when the script throws a diary out of nowhere with Nancy's information about Freddy, although we never saw Nancy writing a diary in the first film.
* YMMV.APuppetToHerFame: Lyra. There's much development involving her and Octavia that many fan fic readers think the story should have been a focus on Lyra and Octavia (or OctStrings) instead of the usual Octavia and Vinyl shtick.
* YMMV.ASecondChance: TakeThatScrappy: Subverted. As a former fan of a show he came to dislike, the author [[EightDeadlyWords does not think highly of any of the characters]], perceiving them all as [[IdiotHoudini annoying]], [[UnintentionallyUnsympathetic unlikable]], [[FlatCharacter underdeveloped]], and/or [[DependingOnTheWriter wishy-washy]], but he does think that the Loud family itself (sans Lily) [[TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter has plenty of potential to be engaging characters]]. As a result, which characters get portrayed positively or negatively has little to do with personal biases, with any changes having instead been done to either [[PragmaticAdaptation serve the narrative or to flesh out his take on the characters]].
