* CharacterDevelopment: Continuing from [[Recap/TheOwlHouseS1E7LostInLanguage her previous appearance]], Amity has started to mellow out and become more understanding towards Luz. Even after Luz [[NiceJobBreakingItHero accidentally drains her wand]], Amity doesn't hold it against her, understanding that Luz didn't know its charge was limited. This is comparable to other instances where Amity would lash out at Luz for ''seemingly'' (but not really) messing stuff up for her.

* PlaceOfPower: Eda explains that the Knee is a place of intense natural magic - in her words, "Where magical energy just ''flows''" - so much that it historically drew the earliest witches as a site to practice magic. The Blight siblings choosing to train there supports this idea.

* AdBreakDoubleTake: Eda says to Luz, "You angered the Slitherbeast" at the end of act 2 and again at the beginning of act 3 after the commercial break.
* AmbiguousSituation: While it's stated that the twins found out about the library incident with Otabin in "Lost in Language" and are trying to make up for it, It's unclear if they told Amity [[NotWhatItLooksLike what really happened with her diary]], and that [[FallGuy Luz]] [[UnwittingPawn didn't really know what they were up to]] and was actually to stop them from stealing it.
* AnAesop: Haste makes waste. Or rather, "Cutting corners only takes you further from where you want to go."

** At the start of the episode, Owlbert drags in trash from the human world through the portal door, just as he was doing in "A Lying Witch and a Warden" when Luz first follows him into the Boiling Isles.

** At the start of the episode, Owlbert drags in trash from the human world through the portal door, just as he was doing in "A Lying Witch and a Warden" when Luz first followed him into the Boiling Isles.

** Edric and Emira have been extra protective and nice towards Amity after the "library incident" in "Lost In Translation". Also, Luz loaned Amity the fifth book of the "Good Witch Azura" series in that episode, and meets up with her at the beginning of this one to get it back.

* ComicallySmallBribe: King gets Hooty on his side by making him a new body... which takes the form of a crudely-drawn humanoid body getting added to the front door of the Owl House.

* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: The cover of the brochure for the baby class says: "The Baby Class...for babies."

* ExactlyWhatItSaysOnTheTin: Eda takes Luz to the Knee, which is the knee of the deceased giant which makes up the Boiling Isles.

* ItsQuietTooQuiet: As Eda is cooking, she notes that she's having a "surprisingly peaceful domestic moment," then wonders aloud when it will be ruined. Cue Luz screaming.

* LiteralMinded: Luz asks Eda to make her disappear when she realizes Amity, Edric and Emira are there. Eda says she can do it, but there's only a 60% chance of her being able to make Luz reappear.

** On a similar note, Hooty refuses to help King at first because King made fun of him and called him "desperate".

* FireForgedFriends: After Hooty helps King destroy the dolls that turned on King, the two are much closer, at least until Hooty ruins the moment.

* LuminescentBlush: Amity does this when Luz holds up her fanart, and again when Luz suggests an Azura bookclub at the end.

* OurMagesAreDifferent: Eda attempts to teach Luz a second spell by applying what she knows about the earliest witches to use magic. Their methods focused on connecting to nature, contrast to modern witches who have a more scholarly focus. Ultimately, Eda's methods succeed, as Luz discovers the runes she needs to create occur naturally, which she calls a "gift" from the Isles.
