They all hear a strange sound and a circus tent emerges from the eclipse. The Dead Moon Circus suddenly appears and starts to entertain the group. ("Viva Viva Dead Moon Circus") The troupe is led by Tiger's Eye, Hawk's Eye, and Fish Eye. They announce that the circus will be holding auditions during the coming weekend and encourage the girls to try out. Fish Eye seems particularly taken with Mamoru, to Usagi's chagrin. Zirconia, a strange, bug-like old woman, directs the circus to find Pegasus for their queen, Nehalennia. Everyone goes their separate ways to prepare for the auditions. Tiger's Eye doubts that they will find who is hiding Pegasus, but Hawk's Eye and Fish Eye are more optimistic. They purposely invited the girls to audition because they all have beautiful dreams. After some squabbling, the trio try to force each other to say what their dreams are, only to realize that they don't have any.

Usagi talks about her dream for the future: to defend the planet together with everyone in Crystal Tokyo. She hopes that nothing will interfere with it. The Inner Senshi muse about the future ("Speed of Light").

A pegasus appears to Chibi-Usa, apparently in pain. He is searching for a maiden with a beautiful dream and enters Chibi-Usa's dream. Mamoru and the Inner Senshi catch up to her. The Inner Senshi are now all high school students. They have all gathered to watch a solar eclipse. The characters wish on the lunar eclipse for different things - Chibi-Usa wants to grow up and find a prince, Ami wants to become a doctor, Makoto wants to be a wife and open a bakery or flower shop, and Minako wants to be an idol. Mamoru feels strange once the eclipse begins.

Chibi-Usa and Pegasus go flying together. Chibi-Usa notices that the Dead Moon Circus tent looks pitch black from up above. Pegasus doesn't seem to want her to go there. She tries to give him carrots as a gift. He begins coughing up black blood, so he goes back into her dreams for safety. She can hear his voice within her dream, and he reassures her that he will be able to heal in her dreams. He tells her to call him with the bell if she needs help and that he wants to save Elysion. Chibi-Usa wonders if she is really the maiden that he is looking for.
It doesn't last long because she has to hurry and get into bed before Usagi and Mamoru realize that she's up past her bedtime. It doesn't work, and she and Usagi briefly argue. Mamoru tells them a bedtime story about a dark world on the other side of mirrors. Usagi complains that she won't be able to sleep because it was a scary story, but Chibi-Usa takes it in stride. She wants to be a grown-up soon, and Mamoru reassures her that she will be in time. He feels a sudden pain in his chest, but brushes it off as a cold. Trapped within a mirror, Queen Nehellenia resents the notion of light always winning of the end and is determined to plunge the world into darkness ("Yami no Shin'en - The Abyss of Darkness").

The girls each demonstrate their skills, including hoop tricks, ball balancing, and dancing with ribbons, at the circus auditions. Everyone passes except Usagi, who has some difficulty focusing because she's worried about Mamoru. Usagi is made an understudy at the other girls' insistence that she be included somehow, and gets stuck with cleaning duty. Fish Eye tries to impress Mamoru with a performance of his own that culminates in him asking Mamoru out while Usagi looks on ("Flower Garden of the Mind"). Mamoru gently but firmly refuses him because there's already someone that he loves. Fish Eye even offers to "save [him] when the time comes". Usagi finally intervenes when Fish Eye gets too familiar, and Chibi-Usa joins them, which only serves to confuse Fish Eye. Usagi tries to reassure Fish Eye that he'll find someone else because he has beautiful dreams. He runs away.

Chibi-Usa warns Usagi that this place is suspicious. Mamoru came because of Chibi-Usa's suspicion. Usagi remembers that everyone is off signing their contracts. They hear a scream and run off to see what happened.
Rei is being attacked by Tiger's Eye, who looks into her dream mirror. The other three girls arrive, but initially mistake her and Tiger's Eye for making out. Hawk's Eye looks into their dream mirrors as well. Because Rei's dream is to make the others' dreams come true, they assume that she is the leader. Minako tries to correct them, leading to everyone offering the Trio a second look at their mirrors so they'll let Rei go.

An embittered Fish Eye returns and tells them to stop dawdling and finish the girls off. Sailor Moon and Chibi-Moon arrive to help them and give the others a chance to run away and transform. The Trio sends the Lemures to attack ("Shiratsuki Gonin Onna (Five Women of the White Moon)"). Chibi-Moon gets captured during the scuffle, so Tuxedo Mask joins the battle ("When Destiny Calls"). Just as he is about to attack, he collapses, clutching his chest. Chibi-Moon calls for Pegasus' help, and he leads the Dead Moon Circus away. Jupiter helps Moon and Chibi-Usa take Tuxedo Mask home. Venus isn't sure whether to consider Pegasus an ally or enemy. At the very least, Mercury is sure that he isn't with the Dead Moon Circus. Mars and Mercury wish that the Outer Senshi were there to lend their support. Venus takes it as a personal slight against her as a leader, leading to a short argument between her and Mars before she runs off.

Nehellenia asks Zirconia why the people of the Moon Kingdom are living on Earth when her curse should have destroyed them. Zirconia informs her that it was because of Queen Serenity's power. Nehellenia is incensed, so Zirconia tries to soothe her by telling her that she is the only one fit to rule the world. Zirconia plans to steal the Ginzuishou, a plan which Nehellenia immediately approves of since she will be able to use it to become the true queen of the moon. Zircon allows her to see Mamoru, Usagi, and Chibi-Usa as Mamoru suffers from coughing fits.

Mamoru has been coughing up black blood. He recalls that he started feeling pains on the day of the eclipse. Chibi-Usa recognizes the black blood as the same kind that Pegasus had. She begs Pegasus to tell her if there is a connection between his black blood and Mamoru's. She calls him, and he appears in his true form. He introduces himself as Helios, a priest of the holy land of Elysion, which protects the Earth. Endymion's life is tied to Elysion, which has become a world of nightmares under Nehellenia's curse. Nehellenia was able to invade with the Dead Moon Circus because her curse weakened Elysion's protection. Nehellenia strengthens her curse on Elysion, causing a black rose to appear on Mamoru's chest. Mamoru begs everyone to stay away from him so they won't be afflicted with the curse. Nehellenia orders the Lemures to capture Helios.

Usagi frets about what they should do. Helios tells her that she needs to use the power of the Ginzuishou and the Golden Crystal. He doesn't know where it was sealed away, but he does know that only the Ginzuishou can release its power. Makoto tells Usagi to stay by Mamoru's side and leave defeating Nehellenia to the rest of the Senshi. She leaves to inform the others. Mamoru feels useless, but Usagi swears to do her best to cheer him up. Chibi-Usa feels similarly useless for not being the "maiden" that Helios was looking for, but Helios reassures her that she has helped him and admits feelings for her ("Double Encouragement"). Mamoru begins to cough again as the Lemures capture Helios and deliver him to Nehellenia. He remains defiant, but rather than than kill him, she decides to show him his "true form".

Haruka and Michiru return from a month-long trip abroad. Setsuna explains that while they were away, Hotaru began growing up rapidly. All three of them felt something after the eclipse; Setsuna has seen a disturbance in space-time. However, none of them have been able to transform. Haruka wonders if it means that they aren't needed anymore. Hotaru enters, now a young woman again, and tells the others that it is time to awaken ("Mezame no Toki (Time of Awakening)"). She thanks her Haruka-papa, Michiru-mama, and Setsuna-mama for raising her and shows them their crystals - their new source of power. The Outer Senshi set off on their new mission.

Determined to prove herself as a leader, Venus sneaks into the Dead Moon Circus tent at night. She sees Pegasus, but it turns out to be a trap set by the Lemures. She starts to fight them off, but gets cornered ("Inner Venus"). The other Inner Senshi catch up to her and help her fight them off. Zirconia appears and traps each of them in nightmares based on their deepest fears and desires. Mercury's reflection reveals about her loneliness and desire to be loved. The Senshi are immobilized, and Zirconia sends the Amazon Trio to finish them off.

The Outer Senshi transform and reunite with the Inner Senshi to fight off the Black Moon Circus ("Shuuketsu - Yume wo Atsumaru Basho (Assemble - The Place Where Dreams Gather)"). Usagi and Mamoru reaffirm their promise to each other to protect the world together. Usagi deduces that the Golden Crystal is sealed inside of Mamoru and feels everyone gathering for their sake. The Dead Moon and Sailor Senshi fight to a stalemate, but the Dead Moon flee when Moon and Chibi-Moon arrive. Chibi-Moon is overjoyed to see Saturn again. The Sailor Senshi swear to protect the world, the place where their dreams lie, come what may. Helios appears once more, but he moves strangely before falling and fading away. Chibi-Moon feels that something is wrong and cries out to him.

The Amazon Trio chat with the audience about beautiful dreams. Fish Eye tries to look at Tiger's Eye's mirror, but is shocked to realize that he lacks one. Zirconia joins them. Fish Eye asks her why they don't have any dreams, and Zirconia tells him that it's because they are mere animals given human form with her magic. She tells them that if she obtains the Ginzuishou, she will be able to give them everlasting human forms.

It's showtime at the Dead Moon Circus, featuring a variety of acts. The Sailor Senshi interrupt the show with one of their own, fighting the Dead Moon Circus all the while ("Koisuru Satellite (Loving Satellite)"). Neptune uses the Deep Aqua Mirror to expose the tear in space-time above the tent that is allowing the nightmares to come through. Uranus proposes going straight to the source. Moon feels that it will be alright if they go together, so they use the Sailor Teleport to enter the nightmare.

A lone dark figure stands in the center of the nightmare. The Senshi use the Sailor Planet Attack, but it's ineffective. Chibi-Moon recognizes it as Helios, and he seems to be in pain. She tries to call out to him and begs the Outer Senshi not to hurt him, but they attack. Zirconia arrives with the Amazon Trio and confirms that he is, in fact, Helios. She sends him to attack the Senshi. Tuxedo Mask arrives to stop Helios, but he won't respond. Tuxedo Mask demands to know what Zirconia did to him. Queen Nehellenia reveals herself and taunts Tuxedo Mask with the curse. She reveals that Helios has turned humans' nightmares into dreams for millennia; it was his destiny to one day turn into a monster from all of those nightmares.

Tuxedo Mask continues to fight and apologizes for the pain that Helios has gone through ("Helios e no Omoi (Thoughts for Helios)"). He tells Helios to give all of the nightmares to him so that they can protect the peace together. This returns Helios to normal, but at the cost of Tuxedo Mask's life. A light begins to shine in his chest, revealing the Golden Crystal. Sailor Moon tries to touch it, but is blasted by Queen Nehellenia, who takes it for herself and vanishes. Chibi-Moon disappears because Tuxedo Mask's death undoes her existence, leaving Sailor Moon distraught.

Zirconia orders the Trio to take Sailor Moon's Ginzuishou, and the Senshi immediately move to defend her. Fish Eye has doubts as to whether the Ginzuishou will really help them be human if they will never have beautiful dreams. Zirconia kills him for his insolence. Sailor Moon refuses to give her Ginzuishou to someone without a heart and swears to get Mamoru's crystal back. Zirconia orders Tiger's Eye and Hawk's Eye to attack, and the battle begins ("Music of the Spheres"). During the battle, Sailor Moon receives the Kaleido Moon Scope. Tiger's Eye and Hawk's Eye turn traitor and hold Zirconia in place so that Sailor Moon can kill Zirconia, which she does with her new power. Tiger's Eye and Hawk's Eye die. Sailor Moon promises that their sacrifice won't be in vain and sets her sights on Nehellenia.

Nehellenia beckons Sailor Moon through a mirror into the world of darkness that she inhabits. She shows Sailor Moon a vision of the day that Princess Serenity was born. The Inner Senshi and various well-wishers bring gifts. Nehellenia, the ruler of the dark side of the moon and a clan that fell from an asteroid, arrives uninvited. The inhabitants of the white moon reject her because she insists on spreading darkness rather than seeking peace ("Nehellenia no Noroi (Nehellenia's Curse)"). She attacks Queen Serenity, who seals Nehellenia in a mirror in response, but not before Nehellenia delivers a curse that will cause the kingdom to fall and the young princess to die.

Moon realizes that the events of her past life were set in motion by Nehellenia's curse. Nehellenia believes that she is returning the world to its natural state in darkness. Naturally, Sailor Moon disagrees. Nehellenia shows her the fallen Sailor Senshi, which causes Sailor Moon to waver. The Senshi insist that they are still alive, but Sailor Moon is trapped in a nightmare. Nehellenia takes the Ginzuishou, leaving the Senshi in despair. Saturn is the first to stand and declare that they have a chance as long as they don't give up. The Senshi prepare to give their lives for Sailor Moon ("Changing Fate"). Their combined powers fail to wake her up. Nehellenia gloats that she has at last ended the line of the White Moon. She tries to release the power of both crystals, but fails. Moon reawakens, barely holding on, but she slowly manages to stand as Nehellenia struggles to use both crystals. Moon explains that Nehellenia can't use power that she didn't create. Sailor Moon uses the power of the Ginzuishou to release the power of the Golden Crystal, which revives Tuxedo Mask and the rest of the Sailor Senshi.

Nehellenia prepares to end the Senshi once and for all. Sailor Moon asks for everyone to give her their power one more time and transforms into her true form, the form closest to the Queen's power: Eternal Sailor Moon ("Amour Eternal - Speed of Light"). Sailor Moon combines everyone's power with her Eternal Tiare and uses it to free Nehellenia from her imprisonment. Sailor Moon shows Nehellenia the light that existed within her all along, which destroys her. Helios reunites with Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask. Before he leaves, Chibi-Moon asks him if they will meet again, and he promises her that he will see her again. Tuxedo Mask feels a warmth in his chest and wonders if it's the Golden Crystal's power. Sailor Moon recalls something that Queen Serenity told her in her past life: everyone has a star inside them. Moon hopes that hers will continue to shine ("Ai no Starshine (Starshine of Love)"). Usagi and Mamoru arrive at the airport. Mamoru is about to leave to study in America, and Usagi has come to see him off. The two are briefly interrupted by the idol group Three Lights, who are being pursued by their fans. Once they're alone again, Mamoru presents Usagi with a ring. Suddenly, Mamoru disintegrates, leaving Usagi in a state of shock. A Sailor Senshi in golden armor laughs, proclaiming that she has obtained the Star Seed of Earth. One of the members of Three Lights, Seiya, tries to help Usagi, but the other two tell him to leave her - there's nothing that they can do.

Usagi Band performs at the school festival ("Maiden's Road"). Usagi arrives too late to be a part of it. When asked about how things went at the airport, she doesn't appear to remember that Mamoru died. Their performance is followed by the Three Lights' (Wandering Stars). A Sailor Senshi called Sailor Iron Mouse senses Sailor Crystals and decides to attack by cutting the power to the venue. The Sailor Senshi quickly transform and drive her off ("Sky of Jewels").

Usagi dreams of having fun with her friends ("Mystery Sagashi (Mystery Search)"). The dream grows dark as she hears the voices of the Dark Kingdom, including Queen Beryl. They announce that they have been revived and briefly appear before Usagi wakes up.

The next morning, Luna searches for Artemis in a panic to tell him that the Dark Kingdom has revived. The cats then set off to tell the girls.

The girls shop for swimsuits at a department store. Usagi arrives late and is still sleepy. Usagi tells the rest of the girls about her dream. She's initially panicked about the return of the Dark Kingdom, but eventually brushes it off as just a dream since they already defeated them. The group is joined by Haruna-sensei, who is also shopping for a swimsuit. Haruna-sensei suggests that they go to the beach with her ("Natsu wo Shimashou Vacation (Let's Do Summer Vacation)"). Rei senses something off and reveals that Haruna-sensei is a youma by using Akuryo Taisan.

Haruna-sensei transforms into the youma Manneguin and summons a squad of youma. They prevent the Senshi from transforming with their attacks. Manneguin questions the girls about where the Silver Crystal is, but after getting nowhere, she threatens to drain their energy instead. She is interrupted by a rose thrown by Tuxedo Mask. He enters the fray and immobilizes the youma with roses ("Bara no Himitsu (The Secret of the Rose)"). Luna and Artemis catch up to Usagi and confirm that the Dark Kingdom was indeed resurrected, but Usagi is still distracted by Tuxedo Mask. Luna reminds Usagi of her past life. Luna and Artemis get nostalgic as the scene fades to a flashback.

Princess Serenity and Prince Endymion dance together at a Moon Kingdom ball ("Waltz ni Koi wo Nosete (Love on a Waltz)"). The Sailor Senshi and Shitennou also dance together. The festivities are interrupted by news that Queen Beryl has manipulated the people of Earth into attacking the Moon Kingdom. Endymion attempts to rally everyone to fight off Queen Beryl, but the Shitennou attack the Inner Senshi as Queen Beryl reveals that they are under her control. The flashback ends when Usagi doesn't want to remember her sad past anymore and runs away.

Luna and Artemis go looking for Usagi in a park. Usagi meets up with the other Senshi and wants to go to the beach, but the others are no longer sure about going since youma have appeared again. Saitou Kun enters and goes backflipping past them. Minako reveals that he used to go to her school and she had a crush on him. The other girls push her into him, and he says that he remembers her as the cutest girl in school. He asks her if she likes anyone, and she reveals in a roundabout way that he was her first love ("Namikimichi no Koi (Love on the Tree-Lined Street"). Saitou confesses that he went to the tree-lined road to see her, and he asks her out.

Ami, Rei, and Makoto follow Minako and eavesdrop. When Minako catches them, Saitou introduces them to his gymnastics teammates, High School Students A, B, and C. They pair off, leaving Usagi all alone ("Saikyou no Couple Gundan (The Strongest Couple Squad)"). The four new couples run off to an astrology booth to have their love fortunes told.

Mamoru runs into Usagi and briefly teases her about being alone at an amusement park. Usagi starts to cry about being left alone, so Mamoru stays to comfort her. He offers to take Usagi to the beach once she's finished all of her summer vacation homework. She runs off crying since that won't happen until the end of summer, and Mamoru runs after her.

Luna and Artemis are still looking for the senshi, but the amusement park crowds are making it difficult. Artemis complains about women being fickle and sentimental, and Luna scolds him for his out-of-date views on women ("Onna no Ko no Shinsou (The Truth About Girls)"). Artemis apologizes, and they resume their search.

At the fortune-telling booth, the fortune-teller tells the couples that someone has a grudge against them. Ami and Rei realize that something is off. Just as Rei realizes that the fortune teller is cursing them, Usagi enters, and the fortune teller reveals herself as Queen Beryl. Beryl freezes the four Inner Senshi in place. The Inner Senshi call out for their boyfriends to help them, but they turn out to be the Shitennou in disguise. The Shitennou attack the Inner Senshi, demanding the Silver Crystal. Beryl demands the crystal from Usagi in exchange for her friends' safety, and Luna and Artemis enter to tell to tell her to not give it up. Tuxedo Mask arrives in time to stop Beryl from harming Usagi. He fights off the Shitennou and the youma squad, but is struck down and captured by Beryl. Beryl tells the Sailor Senshi to come to her castle with the Silver Crystal if they want him back. As the girls recover, Artemis tells them that the Dark Kingdom is once again at D Point, and Luna says that dark spots are now appearing on the sun. The girls resolve to stop the Dark Kingdom ("Sailor War").

At D Point, the Dark Kingdom are eager for Beryl to engulf the world in darkness ("Yami Koso Utsukushii (Darkness Is So Beautiful)"). Beryl plans to make Tuxedo Mask her husband once she is done using him as bait. The Senshi arrive and fight Beryl, the Shitennou, and the youma as Sailor Moon frees an unconscious Tuxedo Mask from his restraints. The Inner Senshi fight the Shitennou one-on-one. The Senshi deal each of them fatal blows, but the Shitennou manage to take the Senshi out with them as Sailor Moon looks on in horror. Tuxedo Mask, barely conscious, begs Sailor Moon to leave and return to being a normal girl. Beryl approaches from behind Sailor Moon to kill her, but Tuxedo Mask pushes her out of the way and takes the fatal blow instead. He apologizes to Sailor Moon as he dies, while Beryl gloats.

Beryl continues to gloat about her impending victory. Sailor Moon hears her friends' voices, but when she calls to them, they don't reply. Moon says that she will never forgive Beryl. Beryl knocks her down and tells her that the world is an evil place, which is why she could gather so much energy. Sailor Moon declares that she believes in love, trust, and friendship, produces the Cutie Moon Rod, and resolves to use the Silver Crystal to stop Beryl, even if it costs her her life. Beryl attacks her again. Sailor Moon imagines her friends lending her their power. She thanks them and defeats Beryl. Before disappearing, Beryl swears that she will be revived so long as there is hatred in human hearts.

Luna and Artemis see the sky clear, but fear that Usagi is dead. As she dies, Sailor Moon wishes that she and her friends can return to normal lives before collapsing. Luna and Artemis arrive at the D Point, searching for the Senshi to no avail. Just as they are about to give up, Luna looks up at the moon. The Sailor Senshi and Tuxedo Mask are resurrected by the Silver Crystal, and everyone celebrates. ("La Soldier")

Notable Kaiteiban changes:
* Mochizuki Yuuta (Kunzite in the original) replaces Mizuki Sano as Tuxedo Mask. Kasahara Ryuuji replaces him as Kunzite.
* The story takes place in winter instead of summer, so the song "Natsu wo Shimashou Vacation" becomes "Fuyu wa Nantatte (What Winter is About)".

In Dracul's Castle, Usagi, Mamoru, and Chibi-Usa have lost their transformations. Vampir welcomes them to her home. She doesn't know why they aren't at the mausoleum and chalks it up to her father not telling her anything. Chibi-Usa asks where the others are. Vampir calls Usagi out for her naïvet&eacute, since it will come back to bite her. Usagi berates herself for not being strong enough to use the Ginzuishou properly; she doesn't know the full extent of its power. She starts to wonder about what would happen if someone else had the Ginzuishou. Vampir tells her that probably has it because the crystal chose her. She can see why people gather around Usagi; even someone as cold as she is can feel that warmth. She then vents about her father's coldness and why he hasn't told her anything aru what is going on. Mamoru tries to chime in with the fact that Cain is Dracul's brother, but Usagi and Chibi-Usa both tell him that now is not the best time to bring that particular point up. Vampir hears someone coming and tells everyone to hide.

After both groups conclude they cannot understand each other, Sailor Moon tells her friends that even though she is afraid, she is ready to fight, and Galaxia orders her troops to attack. A battle ensues, and the Sailor Senshi and Tuxedo Mask use their powers to destroy Galaxia's minions. Sailor Galaxia repeats that only one of them can survive this battle, and Eternal Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon unite their powers into one final blast ("La Moon"). Although visibly affected by the attack, Sailor Galaxia still stands proudly; she declares that fighting will always call for more fighting before she flies away laughing. The Sailor Senshi observe the night sky as a multitude of shooting stars fly by. Moon gives a speech about how everyone has a tiny light within them, and if Sirius understands that, then it will become a shining star ("Densetsu Seitan (Birth of a Legend)"). After the curtain call, the company sings "Ginga no Sanctuary (Sanctuary of the Galaxy)".

Kakyuu calls Galaxia out for her actions and warns Moon that Galaxia is no longer human. Moon tries to stop Kakyuu from getting involved, but Kakyuu insists that she do this. Kakyuu tells Galaxia that the Senshi have been sacrificing themselves to release the Silver Crystal's power, and reveals to the Senshi that Galaxia's true goal must be to destroy everything. The Dark Kingdom arrive, now unencumbered by Pluto's interference, and are displeased. They present an unharmed Chibi-Moon and reveal that the crystal they presented earlier was fake. They attack Galaxia, who shrugs it off. Kakyuu attacks Galaxia in order to create an opening for the Starlights, but it fails, and Galaxia fatally attacks both Beryl and Kakyuu. Beryl releases Earth's Star Seed before she dies. Kakyuu maintains her defiance as she dies ("Teikou no Hana (Flower of Resistace)").

Eternal Sailor Moon defeats Chaos and Metalia. Kakyuu returns, along with Chibi-Chibi, and Kakyuu calls Moon the light of hope. Kakyuu says that the enemies drawn to her were seeking friends, and Moon says that it is because everyone is alone and seeking each other ("Densetsu Seitan (Birth of a Legend)").

The girls discuss whether or not to trust Chibi-Usa. Minako is skeptical, but Ami feels that Chibi-Usa is very scared of something and empathizes with her. Rei shares that she saw a black moon symbol in the sacred fire, and Makoto connects it to the symbol on Esmeraude’s forehead.

The Sailor Animamates dance in the shadows before exiting, followed by a quick confrontation between Tuxedo Mask and Sailor Galaxia. Tuxedo Mask is quickly knocked aside, leaving Galaxia alone to begin a ritual to revive an unnamed evil being as two men in uniforms stand behind her.

As Pegasus is attacked by a band of Lemures, he feels as though someone is sapping away his energy. The Inner Senshi arrive and drive the monsters away. Chibi-Usa appears and promises to protect him, and Pegasus thanks his maiden. They sing about their fated meeting and the Senshi join in, while elsewhere, Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion sing of their eternal love ("Double Moonlight Romance").

The dream fades and Chibi-Usa finds herself in a forest, wondering what she was just doing and where she is now. She remembers going to a picnic with everyone and getting lost in the forest. Mamoru and Usagi find her and are soon joined by Ami, Rei, Makoto, Minako, and a group of forest creatures, including some usagizaru. They settle down in a clearing and begin having fun together ("Mori de Tanoshiku (Fun In The Forest)"). Usagi tries to delay the picnic so the girls won't find out that she ate all of their lunches while she was looking for Chibi-Usa. When she opens the bag, she is surprised to discover that all the lunches are there. A whip crack echoes across the forest and the Amazon Trio appears, introducing themselves and declaring that those lunches are a gift from them. They announce that the Dead Moon Circus is holding up auditions at which they are all welcome ("Amazon Kara Circus Dan ga Yatte Kita (The Circus Has Come From The Amazon)"). Fish Eye is particularly interested in Mamoru trying out. The girls are all excited to audition, but Chibi-Usa overhears the Trio talking about finding a person with a beautiful dream and is less enthusiastic.

The Amazon Trio reconvene to discuss the girls they've just encountered. Hawk's Eye brags that his good looks will charm any woman. He and Tiger's Eye then begin arguing until Fish Eye cuts in and reminds them that they have yet to find out if those girls really hold beautiful dreams. Hawk's Eye says he's uninterested in them, while Tiger's Eye remarks that Ami is cute and Fish Eye has a big crush on Mamoru, which freaks out the other members seeing as they're both males. Their conversation drifts and they begin to wonder why they are the only ones without dreams, but Zirconia overhears and reminds them that they have to fulfill their mission and find the one hiding Pegasus in their dream ("Dead Moon no Kuroi Yume (The Dead Moon's Black Dream)"). A mysterious girl arrives and Zirconia uses Zircon to imbue her with dark energy so she will be able to follow Pegasus into dreams, ordering her to hate and destroy everyone who has a beautiful dream and make their dreams disappear into the black hole inside her heart.

Later, Pegasus is being tortured by the mysterious girl within Chibi-Usa. Chibi-Usa begs her to stop. Many Lemures surround her bed until Sailor Pluto, Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune arrive in her nightmare and fight them off ("Fukkatsu! Crisis Yurusumaji (Revival! Unforgivable Crisis)"). Tuxedo Mask arrives and is shocked to see that the Outer Senshi have been revived. They inform him that baby Hotaru has disappeared, and not only does the mysterious girl have the same energy as she does, she also has the pendant that Sailor Pluto gave to Hotaru. They conclude that the enemy must have abducted Hotaru, erased her memory, and made her grow. This girl is Sailor Saturn, a threat to them all. Tuxedo Mask demands that they remain inactive until he says otherwise, but thanks them for protecting his daughter.

At the auditions, the Amazon Trio and their Pierrot show off their various skills before allowing the girls to try out. Makoto demonstrates tricks with a magic wand, Ami impresses the crowd with her ball-walking, and Minako dances, but Usagi fails horribly at everything she tries, and even accidentally sticks Tiger's Eye with a knife. Rei arrives as Sailor Mars and uses her powers to pass the audition, and Usagi accuses her of cheating. Everyone gets in except Usagi, but the others beg the Trio to find a way to take her in anyway, because they were only tagging along with her in the first place. Usagi is put in charge of cleaning up while everyone is hurried out of the room to go sign their contracts. Although disappointed at first, Usagi resolves to do her best as always ("Mop, Hop, Step, Jump").

A couple of circus workers arrive and bully the mysterious girl. Hawk's Eye says it's part of her training to make her obedient, but Usagi cannot stand to watch and chases the bullies away. The girl says that Usagi shouldn't bother with her, but Usagi refuses to believe it's okay for her to be tormented like that. The two girls sit on swings. Usagi introduces herself, and the girl says she doesn't remember who she is. Usagi declares that from now on she will be the girl's friend, and asks about the locket she's wearing around her neck. The girl opens it, revealing it to be a music box, and says it was the only thing she had with her when she was found. She is only known as "Miss Dream," a girl who sees beautiful dreams ("Miss Dream"). She and Usagi promise to meet again tomorrow. Usagi realizes that she doesn't know how to get down from the swing.

Fish Eye arrives with Mamoru and Usagi spies on them. Fish Eye is disappointed that Mamoru didn't show up at the audition, but is glad that Mamoru came to see him. Mamoru corrects him, saying he came to see Usagi because he was worried about her. Fish Eye asks if Usagi is Mamoru's girlfriend, and he confirms it, saying that they're even married in the future. Fish Eye proposes that he break up with Usagi in order to be with him, in exchange for Fish Eye guaranteeing his safety. Usagi reveals herself and tells Fish Eye off. When Fish Eye asks what's so great about her, Mamoru replies that she has many dreams, which confuses Fish Eye even more. He leaves and Usagi asks Mamoru to help her down from the swing, but he says that he'll come join her instead.

Tiger's Eye and Ami meet late at night, and he begins flirting with her while the other girls spy on them. She tells him about her dream to become a doctor, and he says he would like to see more of that dream before he reveals his true form and attacks her. The other Senshi try to intervene but are grabbed from behind by Lemures. The rest of the Trio arrives and they examine the girls' Dream Mirrors, but do not find Pegasus. They order the Lemures to finish them off, but Zirconia stops them. Miss Dream says the girls have powerful energies and Zirconia forces her to use her powers on Ami, whose personality changes drastically. When the others ask what's wrong with her, she replies that she's fed up being the kind and sweet girl everybody expects her to be ("Ii Ko wa Yameta (The Good Kid Quit)"). Miss Dream then uses her powers to remove the other girls' dreams and make them servants of the Dead Moon. Zirconia orders them to find Pegasus and get the Golden Crystal for them so they can make a world without beautiful dreams.

Elsewhere, Usagi and Mamoru share a tender moment while sitting on the swings. Mamoru asks what she would do if he disappeared. Although she is shocked by the question, Usagi simply replies that everything would disappear for her if that happened. He reassures her that their love is eternal, even if he were to disappear. While they sing about their love, the members of the Dead Moon sing about their dark dream to overthrow the White Moon, and the Outer Senshi sing about their mission to protect the Earth. Chibi-Usa runs after Miss Dream, begging her to stop hurting Pegasus, but the girl refuses to listen and eventually succeeds in making him disappear ("Triple Dreams").

The Dead Moon Circus presents their great "Usagi Rabbit Show," starring Usagi and her friends. The show is an amazing success ("Usagi Circus Show Time"). For the final performance, Usagi stands on the edge of a stair, preparing for a leap into the darkness; after she gathers all of her courage, she jumps, and all goes dark.

Tiger's Eye welcomes the audience to the Dead Moon Circus. He informs them that while they are enjoying their evening, they are slowly entering the world of nightmares. He orders a Pierrot to destroy the exit so none of them can escape. He reassures everyone that it is nothing to be afraid of, since they're all going to become friends now and help the Amazon Trio spread the nightmares across the world. He concludes that all four of the Guardian Senshi are now the Dead Moon's allies, leaving only Usagi to take care of.

The Usagi Rabbit Show was only a dream. Usagi wakes up, relieved that her scary fantasy is over. Makoto, Minako, and Rei arrive to check up on her, but they are mean to her. Usagi asks what's wrong with them, and they reply that they are done being friends of justice, saying they want to be carefree, and that no one appreciates them anyway. Usagi says that she doesn't care if they don't want to protect her anymore, but she does care about their friendship. She swears to protect them all and begs them to recall their shared dream. She makes them remember that they're all the princesses of their respective planets with a common mission with the help of Neo-Queen Serenity's spirit ("Omoidashite Anata wo (Please Remember Yourself)").

Miss Dream arrives, saying the moonlight allowed her to hear the song. The girls are freed from the Dead Moon's influence and recall that the mysterious girl wasresponsible for their brainwashing. Usagi insists that she's not a bad girl and that they must believe in her. Mamoru says that her memory was erased by the Dead Moon in their plot to take over the Earth. Usagi realizes that the circus is a cover for their enemy. The Outer Senshi arrive and reveal that the Dead Moon created a dream black hole in this girl; Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune declare that they intend to destroy her because Sailor Saturn is too much of a danger. Sailor Pluto tries in vain to make her remember that she is really Hotaru. Afraid and confused, Miss Dream releases her power and knocks them all down. For a moment, her form is overlaid with that of Sailor Saturn. The girls try to approach her but, unable to deal with Sailor Saturn's power, she attacks them. Before the Outer Senshi can retaliate, Chibi-Usa summons Pegasus with the Crystal Carillon. He appears and puts Hotaru into a deep sleep, saying that if he enters her mind and brings back her beautiful dreams, her memory will likely return as well. Despite the danger of being sucked into the black hole, Chibi-Usa and Mamoru accompany Pegasus into the girl's dream world. As soon as they enter Hotaru's dream world, Zirconia appears and congratulates the Senshi for delivering Pegasus to the Dead Moon. She says that now that Pegasus is inside Miss Dream's dark and corrupted dreams, he has no chance of survival. She tries to wake the girl up, but Usagi interferes and Zirconia knocks her aside.

The Outer Senshi and the Amazon Trio begin to fight, and as Zirconia sends a flock of Lemures to attack them, the Inner Senshi transform and drive them away ("Solar Miracle, Make Up!"). Zirconia declares that it is too late as the members of the Dead Moon prepare to enter her dreams. Sailor Moon tries to stop them but is not fast enough, and they find themselves alone in the circus with wild animals approaching. There is no way for them to enter the dream world without Pegasus, but Ami suggests that they concentrate on Hotaru's dream and make their hearts into one. The Sailor Senshi unite their powers and teleport into Hotaru's mind.

Chibi-Usa and Mamoru are separated inside the dream. Scared and alone, Chibi-Usa falls to the ground sobbing. The Amazon Trio and Zirconia arrive, and the Trio is bewildered to see a dream so filled with blackness for the first time. Zirconia rejoices at this vision of chaos, but wonders what would happen if the people from the White Moon succeeded in entering Hotaru's dream. Chibi-Usa tries to sneak away but is caught, and the Sailor Senshi arrive in time to save her. However, Sailor Moon is not with them.

Zirconia reveals a captured Pegasus. She demands the Golden Crystal or else she will take the Senshi's lives, but Pegasus says that not even Zirconia's evil can defeat their purity. Tuxedo Mask arrives and begins battling Tiger's Eye ("Tuxedo Loyal"). He then frees Pegasus, who gives his powers to Sailor Chibi Moon and the very tardy Sailor Moon, allowing them to upgrade to their Super forms. Zirconia complains of pains in her chest and collapses as a mysterious mirror appears behind her. Through Zirconia, the shadow of a woman within the mirror announces herself as the Queen of the Black Moon, Queen Nehellenia. She rejoices at the chance to finally speak with the grown-up Princess of the White Moon and her guardians. She accuses them of causing grief to her clan in the past and claims that the White Moon are the real enemies. Nehellenia declares that they cannot understand the pain of always being in the shadow. She wants to take revenge on Sailor Moon for the pain her mother, Queen Serenity, caused Nehellenia in the past, and intends to rule the Earth in darkness. Nehellenia unleashes Hotaru, who attacks despite Sailor Moon's best efforts to get through to her.

Tuxedo Mask tries to reason with Nehellenia. He realizes that all the dark power Miss Dream is using against them is in fact Nehellenia's sadness, and says that he is ready to receive all of it. He urges the others to stay away and protect their dreams while he protects his - Usagi. He receives blow after blow from Hotaru until he is able to wrap her in his arms, calming her down and releasing her from Nehellenia's control, but is badly injured and collapses soon after. Sailor Moon rushes to his side, upset that he would put himself in danger for her. He reassures her that their love is forever no matter what happens, but she says that it doesn't matter if they can't be together. He reminds her that she still has many people to protect and, as he dies in her arms he thanks everyone for all they've done and promises to always be near Usagi somehow, even if only in the form of a warm breeze. His last wish is to be reborn as a regular Mamoru with Usagi and share a normal happiness with everyone.

Sailor Moon tries desperately to wake him, crying that her dream is dead. Zirconia returns, satisfied with this outcome. Zirconia orders the Trio to attack, but Fish Eye instead asks why he and the rest of the Trio do not shed tears, and why they don't have dreams of their own. Zirconia replies that they are nothing more than animals granted human forms and prepares to destroy them. Sailor Moon intervenes and defends the Trio, saying that if they were touched by Mamoru's kindness and understand her sadness, then they are human. Even when Zirconia offers to reveal their true forms, Sailor Moon stops her, insisting that protecting all humans and all life is her mission. Zirconia orders the Trio to attack her, saying that if she had Pegasus's power, she could make their human form permanent. Although the Trio seems to be willing to attack at first, they turn around to shield Sailor Moon and her friends. They declare that Zirconia is the real animal because shape is meaningless and only the heart matters.

Zirconia unleashes the ultimate Lemures and the Trio tries to fight him off and protect the Sailor Senshi, but they are quickly overpowered, trapped, and killed. The Lemures fells all the Senshi except for Sailor Moon. Zirconia calls forth Queen Nehellenia to deliver her judgment upon the princess. Sailor Saturn appears then, declaring that Zirconia will be the only one to face judgment. She uses her powers to revive Mamoru, release the souls of the Amazon Trio, and awaken the fallen Sailor Senshi ("To a Brand-New World"). She thanks Sailor Moon and orders Zirconia to get out of her dream.

Queen Nehellenia frees herself from her mirror and casts her dark curse. Everyone tries to fight it off, and Nehellenia gloats that they don't have enough strength left to see dreams. Armed with Mamoru's strength, Sailor Moon tries to go up against her on her own, but Nehellenia attacks her and she collapses. The others beg for her to wake up. Sailor Mars tells the other Senshi to give all of their powers to Sailor Moon. After it fails, Mars begs the audience to call out Sailor Moon's name. Sailor Moon slowly wakes up and the Golden Crystal begins shining in Mamoru's chest. The legendary Holy Grail appears, and together with everyone's powers, it allows Usagi to become Eternal Sailor Moon. She thanks everyone, then warns Queen Nehellenia that she will soon be punished and see the true power of everyone's beautiful dreams. The queen releases all of her Lemures. The Sailor Senshi enter a great battle with the Dead Moon and are able to destroy Zirconia and all of the Lemures. Nehellenia fades into an old, wrinkled woman and declares that the Senshi haven't won yet and that this planet will definitely be hers. Eternal Sailor Moon destroys her once and for all ("La Moon").

The battle is won, and Sailor Moon has reached her eternal form. Pegasus joins them and Mamoru remarks that his chest still feels warm, as though a star is being born inside his heart. Sailor Moon says that everyone has a star inside of them. She recalls her mother, Queen Serenity, telling her about it in her past life. She encourages everyone to always let their star shine. The spirit of Neo-Queen Serenity appears and begins singing a hopeful message of love to the Sailor Senshi, who all join in ("Over the Moon").[[/folder]]

She tells him about her dream to become a doctor, and he says he would like to see more of that dream before he reveals his true form and attacks her. The other Senshi try to intervene but are grabbed from behind by Lemures. The rest of the Trio arrives and they examine the girls' Dream Mirrors, but do not find Pegasus. They order the Lemures to finish them off, but Zirconia stops them. Miss Dream says the girls have powerful energies and Zirconia forces her to take away their dreams and make them servants of the Dead Moon.

Elsewhere, Usagi and Mamoru share a tender moment while sitting on a pair of swings. Mamoru asks what she would do if he disappeared, and though she is shocked by the question, Usagi simply replies that everything would disappear for her if that happened. He reassures her that their love is eternal, even if he were to disappear. While they sing about their love, the members of the Dead Moon sing about their dark dream to overthrow the White Moon, and the Outer Senshi sing about their mission to protect the Earth. Chibiusa runs after Miss Dream, begging her to stop hurting Pegasus, but the girl refuses to listen and eventually succeeds in making him disappear ("Triple Dreams").

The Dead Moon Circus presents their great "Usagi Rabbit Show," starring Usagi and her friends, who perform many impressive tricks. With ball-walkers, clowns, acrobats, jugglers, dancers, tamers, magicians, singers, and unicycle-riders the show is an amazing success ("Usagi Circus Show Time"). For the final performance Usagi stands on the edge of a stair, preparing for a leap into the darkness; after she gathers all of her courage she jumps, and all goes dark.

Tiger's Eye appears, welcoming the audience to the Dead Moon Circus. He informs them that while they are enjoying their evening, his Lemures are slowly entering their minds, changing beautiful dreams into nightmares. He orders a Pierrot to destroy the exit so none of them can escape. He reassures everyone that it is nothing to be afraid of, since they're all going to become friends now and help the Amazon Trio spread the nightmares across the world. He concludes that all four of the Guardian Senshi are now the Dead Moon's allies, leaving only Usagi to take care of.

The Usagi Rabbit Show was only a dream. Usagi wakes up, relieved that her scary fantasy is over. Makoto, Minako, and Rei arrive to check up on her, but they are mean to her, leaving Usagi very worried. Fish Eye arrives with Mamoru, and Usagi hides behind a trash can to spy on them. Fish Eye asks if Usagi is Mamoru's girlfriend, and he confirms it, saying that they're even married in the future. Fish Eye asks what is so great about her, and Mamoru says that it's her many dreams, which confuses Fish Eye even more. Fish Eye suggests to Mamoru that he could protect him from danger if he even pretended to be Fish Eye's boyfriend, but Mamoru believes that no one with dreams could be satisfied with a make-believe lover. Angered, Fish Eye prepares to attack, but the sound of a cat drives him away in a panic. Usagi emerges from her hiding place, and the "cat" is revealed to be none other than Chibi-Usa. Chibi-Usa is sad that Pegasus has disappeared, but when Mamoru asks who he is, she doesn't know, though she believes that she shares a special connection with him. For this reason, she begs her father to protect Pegasus. He then warns Usagi to be careful, as the Dead Moon Circus seems to be their new enemy. Chibi-Usa adds that the mysterious girl is their greatest opponent.

Miss Dream arrives, pursued by her bullies, and Usagi chases them away again. Ami enters the room and begins bullying Miss Dream as well. When Usagi asks what's wrong with her, Ami says that she's fed up being the kind and sweet girl everybody expects her to be. Miss Dream says she grew up being deceived by the lies about love and justice and the other girls join in ("Ii Ko wa Yameta (The Good Kid Quit)"). Usagi insists that they're wrong and wonders what has happened to them. Chibiusa accuses Miss Dream of deceiving them all, but Usagi swears that she'll protect this girl and everyone else because they are all precious to her. She begs her friends to recall their shared dream. Helped by the spirit of Neo-Queen Serenity, she makes them remember that they're all the princesses of their respective planets with a common mission ("Omoidashite Anata wo (Please Remember Yourself)").

It works, and the girls soon remember that Miss Dream was the one responsible for their brainwashing. Even so, Usagi insists that she's not a bad girl and they must believe in her. Uranus voices her disagreement as the Outer Senshi arrive, revealing that on the day of a total solar eclipse, the Space-Time Door opened and invaders of the Dead Moon appeared and created a dream black hole inside of Miss Dream. Sensing the dark energy, the three Senshi were revived and now intend to destroy that girl. Fearing for her life, Miss Dream attacks them all. Before the Outer Senshi can retaliate, Chibi-Usa summons Pegasus with the Crystal Carillon. He appears and puts the girl into a deep sleep, saying that if he enters her mind and brings back her beautiful dreams, it will most likely return her memory as well. Despite the danger of being sucked into the black hole, Chibi-Usa and Mamoru accompany Pegasus into the girl's dream world. Usagi begs her friends to trust in Pegasus, but as soon as he is inside the girl's mind, Zirconia appears, and congratulates the Senshi for delivering Pegasus to the Dead Moon. She says that now that Pegasus is inside Miss Dream's dark and corrupted dreams, he has no chance of survival. She tries to wake the girl up, but Usagi interferes and Zirconia knocks her aside.

The Inner Senshi transform while the Outer Senshi fight the Amazon Trio. Zirconia realizes that they are the Sailor Senshi of the White Moon and sends a flock of Lemures to attack them. The monsters manage to overpower them until the Inner Senshi appear, and Sailor Moon swears she will protect Miss Dream because she has many beautiful dreams, like all humans do. Fish Eye is once again confused and angered by all this talk of dreams, and Tiger's Eye sends more Lemures against the Senshi, but they unite their powers to repel the enemies. Pluto arrives and says that the girl is nowhere to be found. Zirconia declares that it is too late as the members of the Dead Moon prepare to enter her dreams. Sailor Moon tries to stop them, but is not fast enough, and they find themselves alone in the circus with wild animals approaching. There is no way for them to enter the dream world without Pegasus, but Ami suggests that they concentrate on the girl's dream and make their hearts into one. The eight Sailor Senshi unite their powers and teleport into Miss Dream's mind.

Chibi-Usa and Mamoru are separated inside the dream. Scared and alone, Chibi-Usa falls to the ground sobbing. The Amazon Trio and Zirconia arrive, and the Trio is bewildered to see a dream so filled with blackness for the first time, while Zirconia rejoices at this vision of chaos which reminds her of their dark world. She orders the Trio to find Pegasus, who must be powerless in such a dark dream. Chibi-Usa tries to sneak away, but they catch her and release a band of usagizaru to attack her. Tuxedo Mask arrives in time to save her ("Tuxedo Loyal"), and battles the enemy until the Sailor Senshi appear.

A mysterious mirror appears behind him, the shadow of a woman within the mirror speaks through Zirconia and announces herself as the Queen of the Black Moon, Queen Nehellenia. She rejoices at the chance to finally speak with the Queen of the White Moon and her guardians. She accuses them of causing grief to her Dead Moon clan in the past and says they are the real enemy. She declares that they cannot understand the pain of always being in the shadow, and now she intends to rule the Earth in darkness. Nehellenia unleashes her ultimate weapon, Miss Dream, who attacks despite Sailor Moon's best efforts to get through to her.

Tuxedo Mask tries to reason with Nehellenia, but the evil queen retorts that the Moon doesn't need two rulers. Tuxedo Mask realizes that all the dark power Miss Dream is using against them is in fact Nehellenia's sadness, and says that he is ready to receive all of it. He urges the others to stay away and protect their dreams while he protects his - that is, Usagi. He receives blow after blow from Miss Dream until he is able to wrap her in his arms, calming her down and releasing her from Nehellenia's control, but is badly injured and collapses soon after. Sailor Moon rushes to his side, upset that he would jeopardize his safety like this for her. He reassures her that their love is forever no matter what happens, but she says that it doesn't matter if they can't be together. He reminds her that she still has many people to protect and, as he dies in her arms he thanks everyone for all they've done and promises to always be near Usagi somehow, even if only in the form of a warm breeze. His last wish is to be reborn as a regular Mamoru with Usagi and share a normal happiness with everyone.

Usagi tries desperately to wake Mamoru, crying that her dream is dead. Zirconia is satisfied with this outcome. Fish Eye asks his mistress why he and the rest of the Trio do not shed tears, and why they don't have dreams of their own. Zirconia replies that they are nothing more than animals granted human forms and prepares to destroy them, but Sailor Moon intervenes and defends the Trio, saying that if they were touched by Mamoru's kindness and understand her sadness, then they are human. Even when Zirconia offers to reveal their true forms, Sailor Moon stops her, insisting that her mission is to protect all humans and all life. Zirconia orders the Trio to attack her, saying that if she had Pegasus's power, she could make their human forms permanent. Sailor Moon demands that her Senshi let the Trio do as they want, because the dream that Mamoru gave them is to protect all life. Although the Trio seems to be willing to attack at first, they turn around to shield Sailor Moon and her friends. They declare that Zirconia is the real animal because shape is meaningless and only the heart matters.

Zirconia unleashes the ultimate Lemures, who makes Mamoru's body disappear. The Trio try to fight him off and protect the Sailor Senshi at the same time, but they are quickly overpowered and trapped. Before they are destroyed, the Trio offer their gratitude to Sailor Moon and say that their last wish is to be reborn with many dreams and be friends with the Sailor Senshi in their next life. Zirconia laughs at the Trio's demise and Sailor Moon declares that she is unforgivable. Zirconia orders her Lemures to attack, and Sailor Moon tells the Senshi that no matter what, they must protect Miss Dream. The girl wakes up and fells everyone with her powers. The image of Sailor Saturn appears briefly, but she manages to completely break the Dead Moon's hold over her and declares that she is only herself and no one else. Sailor Moon agrees happily, saying she's just a normal girl who sees dreams, and hugs her.

More furious than ever, Zirconia summons Pegasus, threatening that she will bury the Sailor Senshi in the darkness. Chibi-Usa begs him not to come, but he does so anyway. Zirconia offers the Senshi's lives in exchange for the Golden Crystal, but Pegasus says that not even Zirconia's evil can defeat their purity. He offers the Sailor Senshi new powers, allowing Sailor Moon and Sailor Chibi Moon to upgrade to their "Super" forms. Zirconia is frustrated that they are still defying her and releases all of her Lemures. Armed with their new powers, the Sailor Senshi enter battle against the Dead Moon until Sailor Moon is finally able to drive Zirconia and her Lemures away ("La Moon").

The battle is won, but Usagi is still grieving because Mamoru is gone and she was not even able to save the Amazon Trio. Pegasus arrives and says that she is wrong, because the souls of the Trio are now with him in the forest of Elysion, and they are probably seeing many beautiful dreams because anyone with dreams can be saved. Sailor Moon thanks Pegasus. She feels a warm breeze against her skin and hears the voice of her beloved telling her that he was also saved because of this. His spirit appears and tells her that he has become King Endymion, and is now by Neo-Queen Serenity's side. He assures Usagi that their love is forever, and that the past and present will soon meet. The spirit of the Queen appears before them and gives the Sailor Senshi a hopeful message of love. The mysterious girl wakes up from her bad dream and joins the other girls who warmly welcome her as Pegasus flies by ("Over the Moon").[[/folder]]

King Endymion tells the Sailor Senshi about an approaching crisis. Sailor Moon and the Inner Senshi are ready for the coming fight (“Solar Miracle, Make Up!”)

Sailor Moon and the Inner Senshi sing "La Soldier" together. King Endymion narrates a prologue about an approaching crisis. Hearing his words, Sailor Moon sings "Solar Miracle, Make Up" with the other Senshi.

The Death Busters (Professor Tomoe, Kaolinite, the Death Mannetjes, and the Death Nightmares) are preparing for action in their lair ("Talisman wo Sagase (Search For the Talismans!)"). The Professor has successfully created a Daimon Egg, which they plan to use to search for the Talismans. When their machine detects a Pure Heart, the Professor sends out a Daimon Egg, and Kaolinite orders the Death Nightmares to follow it.

Usagi and Mamoru are out on a date, taking a boat ride on a lake ("Gondola no Koibito-tachi (Gondola Sweethearts)"). Just when things are getting romantic, their date is interrupted by Chibi-Usa's arrival ("Matamata Chibiusa Desu (Once Again, It's Chibi-Usa)"). She has been sent from the 30th century by Neo-Queen Serenity and King Endymion to train as a Sailor Senshi. Chibi-Usa seems mostly interested in hanging out with Mamoru, much to Usagi's chagrin. Suddenly, the water in the lake freezes solid. Their boat transforms into the Daimon Gondola and the Death Nightmares appear and attack them. Gondola takes Chibi-Usa's heart crystal, but is thwarted by the arrival of Sailor Uranus and Sailor Neptune. They destroy Gondola, drive away the Death Nightmares ("Chou Bi! Uranus to Neptune (Super Beauty! Uranus and Neptune)"), and return Chibi-Usa's heart crystal when they see that it is not a Talisman.

The Death Mannetjes are convinced that their mimicking skills make them better suited for the job than the Death Nightmares. While waiting for them, Death Debu Re, who has the ability to smell pure hearts, catches the scent of one. They track it to the Hikawa Shrine and a blue-haired girl waiting outside.

Ami has been feeling restless lately. She wants to test herself and is thinking about moving to Germany to study medicine. It turns out that she is not alone in her feelings: Rei wants to meditate in Tibet, Makoto wants to learn real Chinese cooking in China, and Minako has received an offer to join an international tour with the national volleyball team ("Dream Yume wa Ookiku (Dream, Dreams Are Big)"). Hearing their dreams, Ami decides to go through with her plan. When Usagi, Mamoru, and Chibi-Usa join up with them, Usagi is irritated that Chibi-Usa gets the girls' sympathies and attention, and she blames them for not being there when the enemies attacked (even though she had told them to stay away from her date). While they argue, the Death Mannetjes try to infiltrate the group to kidnap Ami, disguised as Phobos, Deimos, Haruka and Michiru. The attempt fails miserably and a fight ensues, during which Usagi mostly chases Chibi-Usa around. She gets scolded for this afterwards and storms off. The others decide to go home. Chibi-Usa lingers outside the shrine for a while, wondering why those men seemed to be after Ami, and is ensnared by the Death Nightmares. Kaolinite successfully provokes Chibi-Usa ("Chouhatsu (Provocation)"), luring her into following them to the Death Busters' lair.

Professor Tomoe is not pleased. The Death Nightmares ("Muma no Odori (Nightmares' Dance)") failed to bring Chibiusa's Heart Crystal and lost the Daimon Gondola, and the Death Mannetjes came running from a fight with a group of ordinary girls. They try to appease him with the news of Ami's pure heart, but it turns out Kaolinite is already aware of that fact and has secured bait. Sailor Chibi Moon comes out of hiding. She puts up a fight and dodges the Death Mannetjes before Kaolinite seizes her. Tuxedo Mask appears and tries to save Chibi Moon, but the Death Busters retreat behind an energy screen and disappear with her into the shadows.

Rei, Makoto, and Minako meet up with Usagi to inform her about their plans to move away. She is horrified at the thought of being left alone and asks if it is because of her. They tell her that Ami could not bear to face her and say goodbye; she has already gone to the airport. Usagi runs away, yelling that she will not accept that. Usagi arrives at the airport and looks for Ami but is unable to find her. Despairing, she begins to surrender to the notion of being left behind by everybody ("Tabidachi (Departing)"). Suddenly, she hears Ami scream her name over the communicator - Kaolinite found her first and took her heart crystal. Usagi tries to go to her, but is stopped by the Death Nightmares. Tuxedo Mask appears and fights them back, but the Death Mannetjes dressed as Tuxedo Masks intercede, singing "Tuxedo Mission". Tuxedo Mask tells Usagi that Chibi-Usa has been captured, but all five talk and move in the same way and Usagi cannot tell who is the real one. When she finds one with the voice and scent of her Mamoru, he claims to be one of the fakes and points out another who is wearing a misanga (promise bracelet) identical to the one Usagi gave him on their date. This Tuxedo Mask protests, but the others beat him badly and throw him out a window, declaring Tuxedo Mask dead.

The devastated Usagi cannot bear any more, and collapses sobbing on the floor. The voices of Sailor Pluto and King Endymion reach her, telling her that she is strong and has a loving heart, and that she should extinguish her hatred because her true strength is in her kindness. Pluto offers to bring Usagi to the enemies' lair. She accepts and walks into the smoke and the shadows, transforming into Princess Serenity as she goes.

Professor Tomoe gloats triumphantly that Ami's pure heart crystal is in his possession. He sees that the Death Mannetjes are still dressed as Tuxedo Mask and tells them they can now remove their disguises. They do so, except one - the real Tuxedo Mask slipped his misanga onto Death Ru's wrist. Tuxedo Mask fights them, demanding that they release Sailor Chibi-Moon and the heart crystal, but surrenders when Kaolinite threatens to kill Chibi-Moon. The Death Mannetjes' leader Death Ra powers up. Uranus and Neptune join the fight. Tuxedo Mask tries to help them, but they are no match for Death Ra's brute strength. Princess Serenity appears. Serenity tries to protect the others with her own body while she pleads with the Death Busters to stop their hatred and violence. They merely laugh at her and continue to manhandle Tuxedo Mask, Uranus, and Neptune. Kaolinite beats Sailor Chibi-Moon and is just about to kill her and Serenity when Sailor Jupiter, Sailor Mars, and Sailor Venus make their entrance.

A battle ensues. Sailor Uranus seizes Ami's heart crystal, sees that it is not a Talisman, and sends it off. The Death Mannetjes and Death Nightmares fall in combat one by one. Kaolinite rises up in a new powerful form, striking down the Sailor Senshi with lightning. Death Ra grabs Chibi-Moon and holds her up before Kaolinite, who sends crackling bolts of energy through her. Serenity screams as Death Ra coolly hands over Chibi-Moon's lifeless body. She tries in vain to wake her, shouts "Unforgivable!" and transforms into Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon unleashes her Moon Spiral Heart Attack on Kaolinite, vaporizing her. Professor Tomoe sees that the Death Busters have lost - only he and Death Ra are left. He rises, holding the egg of a Daimon Atomic Bomber that will blast them all to oblivion. Just then, Sailor Mercury appears and blows the remaining enemies offstage. However, Chibi-Moon shows no sign of life and Sailor Moon is overwhelmed with grief, regretting her own lack of action and blaming herself for the little girl's death. From somewhere nearby, the Senshi hear the professor's voice taunting them. He says the hatred she feels in her heart is what will make the Daimon Atomic Bomber hatch and explode.

The others try to get Sailor Moon to pull herself together. They remind her that she came there to protect those that she loves and tell her that they all believe in her. Sailor Moon gradually begins to respond, remembering King Endymion's words. Professor Tomoe appears on a tall ledge, enraged by their talk of love and courage. With the enemy in sight, the Senshi vow to combine their power ("Sailor War '94"). Just as the Daimon begins to hatch, Sailor Moon raises her Spiral Heart Moon Rod, and together they make their Sailor Planet Attack. A violent discharge of flashing energies surges through the lair, followed by a blinding aftershock.

When the air clears, the Senshi are still standing in what little is left of the Death Busters' lair. Sailor Moon lowers her Heart Moon Rod and Sailor Chibi-Moon wakes up. She says she had a dream where her mama told her that she was doing well. Sailor Moon and she hug each other. In the shadows, the Death Busters are puzzled to find themselves alive; Sailor Moon's final attack revived them instead of killing them off. Professor Tomoe says the Senshi will regret having saved them, because the battle will continue. Sailor Moon rises to her feet and replies that the Senshi will be ready for them. When that time comes, they will learn that nothing is resolved through battle, only through love.

Sailor Chibi-Moon returns to the 30th century, and the Senshi see a glimpse of her standing together with her parents and waving goodbye. The Sailor Senshi then sing "L'Amour D'Amour Moonlight."
