* PeopleFarms: Morty's initial suggestion for more "ethical" spaghetti is mass-cloning people and indoctrinating them into ''wanting'' to kill themselves and turn into spaghetti. It works about as well as one might expect, so then Morty tries to find how loose the definition of "people" could be to mass-produce spaghetti, with Rick eventually arriving at a headless, boneless torso with only rudimentary motor functions, so it's just barely alive, and a single arm which it can kill itself with. It works, but apparently the spaghetti it produces is suboptimal in flavour.

* {{Hypocrite}}: Morty has no problem serving ethical suicide spaghetti, despite calling Rick out for serving the same spaghetti every Friday night for a few weeks. The only real difference is that he got permission to serve it and the person who committed suicide consented to their body being used for that purpose. It is also implied he only did so to get back into his family's good graces since they all still loved the spaghetti in spite of learning of its harrowing origin.

* NiceJobBreakingItHero: Morty accidentally walks in on Rick refilling the spaghetti tray from a corpse, which kicks off the plot of Morty just wanting to pay respect to a person who committed suicide, which leads to him confessing the truth behind their BizarreAlienBiology, which ultimately convinced the government to completely transform their entire planet to be as depressing and oppressive as possible to convince the masses to kill themselves so they could turn their suicide spaghetti into their biggest export. This also completely ruins the family after they learn what they were eating. However, blame also needs to be given to Rick, for having the gall to feed his family [[TheSecretOfLongPorkPies human remains]] without them knowing and more importantly bringing a corpse into his garage for Morty to accidentally walk in on and see him refilling the spaghetti tray in the first place.

* ContentWarnings: This episode features one at the very start of the episode (even before the Adult Swim logo), as it deals with topics and conversations of suicide, which can be quite disturbing and stomach churning. As the show usually doesn't do viewer discretion warnings, you ''know'' you're in for it. As is standard practice in the UK, the broadcast on [[Creator/Channel4 E4]] had the episode's credits interrupted by a continuity announcer reassuring anyone affected to seek help with their help pack online.

* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Morty and Rick try to answer that question when Morty tries to find an alternative to spaghetti that does not involve people killing themselves. Rick accepts the challenge and engineers a series of clones with varying degrees of sentience to make one self-aware enough to kill itself but not so aware as to dread such a fate. Finally they settle on human torsos with an arm to stab themselves with, which is apparently just human enough to produce the intended biological reaction. This still draws the ire of protesters, one group which protests the use of the torsos as a food source, and another that protests the ''quality'' of the torsos as a food source. Two groups of suicide bombers simultaneously attack the factory and kill each other in the process.
