* YouAreBetterThanYouThinkYouAre: At the end, Yoru-sensei tells Bruce to thank Batman for him when he sees him, but Bruce shamefacedly says that Batman was just as much a ninja as Kyodai. Yoru, however, points out that Batman tried to save his enemy, and chose not to use his knowledge of the Oonemuri against him. It's pretty heavily implied that Yoru knows Bruce is Batman, though he pretends not to (and, after all, if Kyodai could figure it out based on his fighting technique, so could Yoru).
-->'''Yoru-sensei''': Batman is the essence of samurai, Wayne-san. You would do well to remember that.

Yoru Sensei is never shown having a tattoo of any kind. Kyodai Ken is the only one ever shown with one.

* TattooedCrook: Kyodai has a ''huge'' tattoo of a Japanese demon's head on his back. While a tattoo isn't a sure sign of being a criminal in the west, in Japan it's virtually a guarantee due to their cultural taboo against them, especially with tattoos of that size. However, we saw in the last episode that it's the same tattoo Yoru Sensei has. It's the mark of the Fang.

** Kyodai Ken steals a scroll in Japan that teaches him the secret of a "deadly touch" technique. When Batman faces him off in the end, he tries to avoid being touched by him in a specific spot, which (theoretically) would [[TouchOfDeath cause instant death]]. He fails and is struck, and seemingly falls dead. He then gets up and continues the fight, eventually besting the ninja. When asked if the technique had missed somehow, he pulls out a metal plate from under his suit, which has been deformed by a strong force.
** Emphasis on "forbidden", even the guardians of the scroll, or specifically, the scrolls location, have never read it for fear of being tempted into using it. It becomes an issue when Bruce's sensei, the current guardian, can't help him with protecting himself from the TouchOfDeath because he doesn't know how it's performed.

* SamuraiInNinjaTown: Inverted. Kyodai is a ninja who is willing to use any and all underhanded tricks to secure victory. As a samurai with a code of honor, Sensei Yoru refuses to simply give him a fake map in exchange for Kairi's safety, even if it means risking him learning the Kiba no Hoko technique.

* OffModel: This is considered by the crew to be one of the worst animated episodes of the series. Part of that has to do with the fact that the original animation studio, Lapiz Azul, went bankrupt during production. The rest of the episode, and its retakes, had to be done by Creator/JadeAnimation instead.

** Averted somewhat with the ending; the animation team confirmed [[KilledOffForReal Kyodai really did die]], but BS&P wouldn't let them outright [[NeverSayDie say that, show that, or leave him without a method of escape]]. Kyodai disappears after an explosion, Bruce is left unsure what happened to him, and they put a little rock behind him that he ''could'' have jumped to (though he didn't).
