Note: For television broadcast, season one was split into two parts: part one goes from the pilot episode to "Deacon Stan, Jesus Man" while part two goes from "Bullocks to Stan" to "Tears of a Clooney". However, the DVD version (which puts episodes in volumes, not seasons) has both parts of season one as one season. There is also a point of contention on whether or not the final three episodes for FOX (from "Roger Passes the Bar" to "Blagsnarst: A Love Story") are considered a separate mini-season or the first part of a new season. On TV and most online sources, it's a separate mini-season. For Netflix, Hulu, and various digital download and streaming services, the FOX finale mini-season and the first season that aired on TBS are all one season.

Even though ''American Dad'' began airing on TBS in October 2014, FOX chose three leftover episodes to run (two on September 14th, 2014 and one on September 21st, 2014) to end the show on their channel. While {{Wiki/Wikipedia}} has this as a partial tenth season that aired on FOX, TBS and Hulu have this as the beginning of season 11.

Because of the 2007-2008 Writers Guild of America strike, there was a shortage of episodes this season. Much like ''Family Guy'', the episodes that did air during the WGA strike aired without permission from Creator/SethMacFarlane, since [=MacFarlane=] showed support for the writers by not finishing any planned episodes until the strike ended. This is also the last season with the newspaper headline CouchGag in the opening credits.

#"[[Recap/AmericanDadS7E12YouDebtYourLife You Debt Your Life]]": Roger moves out of the house after realizing that Stan only kept him as part of a "life debt" deal, but Roger's replacement -- Andy Dick (voiced by Nick Kroll, not the real Andy Dick) -- turns out to be worse than Roger.
