** Raj mentions his bottom has gone purple due to using Bumfresh in Chapter 19. This turns out to be important, as the "purple bottom" debacle causes the entire undoing of Bumfresh.

* ImpracticallyFancyOutfit: The school uniforms at St. Cuthbert's consists of tights and Elizabethan collars, which obviously doesn't look very stylish at all. Lampshaded by the author: "Here is a picture of Joe in his school uniform. He looks a bit silly, doesn't he?"

* PunnyName: Peter Bread (a pun on pita bread). The author actually lists a whole bunch of names after this is mentioned (Justin Case, Marcus Absent, Doris Locked, etc).
* RunningGag: Whenever a doorbell sounds, the author reassures the reader that it isn't their own doorbell. Lampshaded near the end when the author says "I think I've done that joke too many times now."
