* The fact that the seemingly-friendly Vedek Porta goes along with Akorem's agenda so unquestioningly and enthusiastically -- to the point of murdering a fellow cleric whose "unclean" D'jarra was deemed unfit to take religious orders -- makes a disturbing amount of sense when you take his age into account. Porta is old enough to remember the time before the Cardassian Occupation, meaning the D'jarras are a matter of living memory for him. If his family were of high caste, as is implied to have been the case, it would certainly have seemed like a golden age from his point of view.
