* AlternateContinuity: Despite being a sequel to the anime, looking back at the story serves more like an AU sequel with canon contradictions. One example is back in canon showed a rebuilt Loop 7 by the epilogue of the anime, while this story ignores that in showing that Loop 7 is still in construction (and where the main conflicts of the story occur in that area). Another contradiction is that this story mentioned Shu cleansing the world in the anime's final episode occurred in the 13th of December, but in actually, the canon anime's final episode happened around the 25th of December (and Gai did mention the warning in beginning of the canon Episode 20). Another alteration is Nanba's Void since while in canon is simply a knuckle-duster, this story changes it to have him using Wolverine claws. The main alteration is that because Reclaiming the Throne was written before general fans' thoughts of Inori's spirit inside Shu's mind become prominent over the years, the story ignores that close-to-canon theory while focusing on the AU concept of Inori residing in the Void Realm as queen before being saved by Shu.

* DarkerAndEdgier: It is a much darker and unforgiving sequel to the anime relating to the world's harshness, with a lot of grey areas to all factions, and giving DarkReprise callbacks of the anime for Shu and Inori's developments.

** In general, the story has lots of references to Series/GameOfThrones due to the author being a huge fan of the series. It characterizes Shu's role as being the king, alongside warring factions in a civil war against each other.
** The concepts of the void realm have references of Videogame/PlanetSide.
** Tarone, an OC is based on Tyreese from Series/TheWalkingDead and Gabriel Tosh from Franchise/{{StarCraft}}.
