As an alternate continuity, ForWantOfANail comes into play when L restrategizes his XanatosGambit (as the title indicates, there are ''lots'' of [[XanatosPlannedThisIndex Xanatos Tropes]]) and recruits the Wammy's as part of the plan. When things don't go exactly as he planned, he calls on another one of Wammy's House's top students...[[spoiler: and then said student brings along ''another'' prodigy]].

Thus far, only seven[[hottip:*:Not counting the prologue]] chapters have been published, but there's still more {{HSQ}} to come.

When L suspects that the "13-day rule" written within the back of the Death Note isn't completely true, he confronts Rem and devises a plan. He will fake his own death, leave Japan, and [[WeHaveReserves call for backup]]...

Backup, that is, in the form of the Wammy's House orphans.

With the help of [[TheMcCoy Mello]], [[TheSpock Near]], [[EnsembleDarkhorse Matt]], and [[OCStandIn Linda]] (along with ''Matsuda'', of all people), he re-enters the case, and hopefully, will pull off proving that Light is Kira.
