* StatusQuoIsGod: While Batman was out of the League for awhile, his eventual return was a given. Part of the reason was that his leadership and planning ability contributed a great deal to their effectiveness.

** This applies to the other members of the Justice League as well. Despite ''knowing'' that Batman is both ProperlyParanoid and CrazyPrepared, despite ''knowing'' there's always a risk of one of them going rogue or getting mind-controlled, none of them considered the possibility that Batman would develop contingency plans for them. Even Martian Manhunter, who considered the possibility and formed some rudimentary plans but didn't go very far, never stopped to look at his fellow teammates and wonder if any of them would do the same, and ''which of them would be paranoid enough to see it all the way through.'' Hell, even Superman has given Batman a Kryptonite ring in case he ever goes rogue, but Supes never stopped to think "Hmmm, I wonder what Batman would do if any of the others in the team went bad?" While what Batman did is viewed as a huge betrayal, over in the Marvel Universe, Spider-Man once casually mentioned that ''every'' superhero has developed a plan to deal with every ''other'' superhero in case they ever go bad. They all do it, and they all know each other does it.

* ManipulativeBastard: The Secret Origins prequel issue shows how Batman managed to create weaknesses to take out his teammates. He mostly partnered and buddied with them (by his standards) to get them to let their guard down. Mostly [[spoiler:learning from Kyle Rayner how important his sense of being an artist was, and how much he would be handicapped by going blind]].

* MemoryGambit: The ''Secret Origins'' issue includes a scene showing how Batman kept his plans secret of Martian Manhunter's telepathy: he used post-hypnotic suggestion to "bury" his memories of the plans, and would only remember them after the Batcomputer giving him a scheduled mnemonic key.
