When Tasha, led to her by one of her orbs somehow manages to subdue her numerous abductors and brings her home, [[OffingTheOffspring Their father tries to kill her personally]] [[AbominationAccusationAttack while calling her a freak of nature that doesn't deserve to live.]] This caused her orbs, who respond to her emotions, to attack everything around her to protect her. The more scared she got, the more they attack, and the more they attack, the more scared she got, until her entire home town was in ruins, and THEN we find out that the adoptive father was being controlled by a witch who wanted to either exploit Aria for her own ends, or kill her to eliminate the possible competition, and if that wasn't enough to break him, his mother gets the SwordOfDamocles treatment, his BrainwashedAndCrazy sister curses him with the seal, and when he goes in search of her, as his mother ordained (to help protect him from the SwordOfDamocles punishment the kingdom put on the Goodspell family), a pair of muggers take everything he owns and leave him for dead. His rescuer, Edea then takes him in as a pupil, but that is effectively indistinguishable from slavery. Small wonder he's a [[{{Greed}} Greedy]] JerkassWithAHeartOfGold.
