* AntiHero: He's a pretty big jerk in the first arc, doesn't care about The warrior code or believe in [=StarClan=]. But he is [[JerkWithAHeartOfGold not so bad after all]]

* CruelAndUnusualDeath: A variant. While dying by badgers isn't out of the ordinary in this series, the way he does certainly is. Instead of the normal quick way, he dies blind with agony, fear, and confusion, and struggling to get away, but is unable to because of his newly broken back legs. He then gets his throat torn open, and finally perishes with his eyes still open, and wide with pain, and terror.

It's unclear if the authors mixed up Seedpelt's physical description and gender or if they were meant to be two different characters with the same name.

* OneSteveLimit: Sort of averted. Mousewhisker is not a name shared by any other Clan cat, but he shares his prefix with Mousefur, which is unusual. Typically, there is never more than one cat with a given prefix in a Clan at one time.

* MomentOfWeakness: Frecklewish is normally a kind and reasonable cat, but goes bonkers when she finds out Mapleshade lied to her about her kits being Birchface's, and that they're actually the kits of her brother's killer. She physically attacks Mapleshade and screeches for the kits to be driven out of the Clan.

[[spoiler:After Bluestar refuses to make him a warrior, he tries to defeat the dogs lurking on [=ThunderClan=] territory. He makes a valiant effort, but ultimately fails. Later, he gives Firestar one of his nine lives.]]

* PosthumousCharacter: Died before the events of ''The Leader Who Sought Peace''.
