* {{Deuteragonist}}: A unique example among the cast. Ryoko's story is one of the most interesting in terms of structure, as by the time it starts, most of it is already over- her major story arc of coming to grips with her past and killing Ida for his betrayal is one that occurs over Usami, Natsuno, Yuki, and Shu's routes, with the climax of this story only being shown at the very end of her own route. Ryoko's route instead deals with the ramifications of her memory loss and the difficulty of coping with what she's done, which manifests itself as an amnesia loop. Essentially, Ryoko plays more of a part in other characters' routes than her own.

* MoralityPet: Ends up being one for Tsukasa; while the latter does still keep a lot of secrets from Takatoshi - and wastes no time with the teasing and cat-and-mouse antics - he ultimately still places all of his trust and preparations on Takatoshi's shoulders, including granting him a new Sentinel and the truth about their simulated world. It goes to show that Tsukasa, for all the questionable things he does, ultimately has a good heart, and that the love he and Takatoshi come to share is real.

Added DiffLines:

* NiceGuy: While a bit hot-headed at times, Takatoshi is generally a very polite and compassionate man. Tsukasa specifically likes him because he's so honest - if simple too - and Takatoshi always has the needs of his loved ones on mind, treating Keitaro like a brother and equal even with the latter's poor self-esteem and showing compassion even to those who've wronged him, like taking pity on Ei whose mind is coming apart.

Added DiffLines:

* DirtyCoward: How Ei sees ''himself''; in all of his appearances that take place before his own route, Ei is secretly investigating Sector 0 and whether he can save his declining mind by jumping loops, which of course means leaving the current loop to be destroyed by the Deimos. Even with that reason, he still derides himself for putting himself before others, an insecurity that becomes more pronounced in contrast to Iori's selfless choice to stay behind and protect everyone. It's partly why he thinks his Sentinel would be better in her hands than his.
