[[folder:The Protagonist]]
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/maxresdefault_282.jpg]]

A young man/woman who starts to experience strange things during a Kishimai High entrance ceremony. Chosen to represent the second year class, they finish giving their speech before meeting the representative of the first year class...who, last year, was the representative for the third year class. After meeting Aria, they discover the truth behind Mobius and seek to escape, becoming the President of the Go-Home Club.

Alternately, at some point after becoming the president they meet Thorn, who tells them that everything isn't so clear cut and offers them a chance to see the lives of people who can only live in Mobius due to their severe traumas. If they accept, they are given powers by μ and become the newest member of the Ostinato Musicians: Lucid.
----
!!General tropes:
* {{Cloudcuckoolander}}: They exhibit some rather...odd traits in the Character Episodes, and sometimes in the main story.
* DarkAndTroubledPast: Practically a requirement to be in Mobius. One of the dialogue options to choose from when Aria begins asking about their insecurities hints about an incident the protagonist wants to forget or escape from.
* EveryoneCallsHimBarkeep: The other members of the Going-Home Club simply refer to them as "President" because they are the group's leader and possess no canonical name. Likewise, the Ostinatu Musicians call them "Lucid."
* FaceHeelTurn: If they choose to accept Thorn's offer to join the Ostinato Musicians. Whether it sticks is entirely up to the player.
* FlowerMotifs: Like others who develop a Catharsis Effect, flowers sprout from the stake in the protagonist's chest. Additionally, the ribbon around their collar has a flower shaped bow. If you look close enough, the protagonist's Catharsis Effect even has rose-designs printed on them.
* {{Foil}}: To Kensuke in the Forbidden Musician Route. Whereas Kensuke joins the Go-Home Club after his defeat, wanting to find a new purpose in life, the protagonist joins the Ostinato Musicians when Thorns offers them a chance to see things from their perspective - people who can live only in Mobius.
* GunsAkimbo: Wields a large pair of pistols.
* GunFu: Courtesy of the [[LimitBreak Overdose Attack]], which increases the user's power in a short burst to deliver a fatal blow. In their case, they knock the enemy into the air and proceed to fill them with bullets.
* HeKnowsTooMuch: [[spoiler:Progress through Eiji's Character Episodes and you'll learn that [[ConsummateLiar he's been lying his ass off]]. He's an AmoralAttorney who was willing to lie, cheat and kill to get ahead in life thanks to his position. Confronting Eiji will lead to the former attempting to silence them before they can spill the beans.]]
* HeroicMime: Hey, they're the protagonist. What did you expect? Special mention goes to Lucid, however, who doesn't even ''speak'' whatsoever. Not even in battle.
* ImpossiblyCoolClothes: If you complete the game on the Forbidden Musician Route, you can have the protagonist dress as their alter ego Lucid.
* TheLeader: To the Going-Home Club. Whether they remain there is up to the player.
* MoleInCharge: In the Forbidden Musician Route, if they choose to see Thorn's plan through to the end, then they become this to the Going-Home Club.
* MultipleChoicePast: Played with. The backstory of the protagonist in the game is unstated, but like everyone else, they've suffered a horrible experience in reality and went to Mobius to escape the pain. When Aria helps them awaken their Catharsis Effect, you have different choices that, while ultimately meaning nothing to the overall narrative as it is mentioned only once, that can paint a picture as to why the protagonist wants to return to reality. Insecurities involve the protagonist being terrified of what the future holds, wanting to forget a past incident, rejected by the object of their affection or be an inverted LonersAreFreaks
* NoNameGiven: As players can name them, they have no canonical name. The anime gives the male protagonist the name Ritsu Shikishima.
* SmugSmiler: Does this when [[spoiler:they reveal themselves to be the Ostinato Musician Lucid, who has been interfering with them and stopping them at almost every turn.]]
* VagueAge: They have no canon age, but are 17 in Mobius.
* VillainProtagonist: A downplayed example, if players choose to play the Forbidden Musician story.
* WeCannotGoOnWithoutYou: If the protagonist dies in battle, it's Game Over.
* WhatTheHellHero: Choosing the Forbidden Musician Route is a minor one, since you're supposed to be escaping Mobius and return to the real world with everyone. Thorn rationalizes this decision by saying that they have an opportunity to see the lives of people who's traumas are far more severe than others and therefore can only live in Mobius. [[UpToEleven You can take this trope to extreme levels though, if you're aiming for]] the DownerEnding [[spoiler:in which the protagonist decides to help Thorn's plans in destroying reality.]]

!!Male Protagonist (Ritsu Shikishima)
[[quoteright:223:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/male_protagonist.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Chiharu Sawashiro (game, anime [[spoiler:episode 1-9;12]]), [[spoiler:Creator/NobuhikoOkamoto (anime, episode 11-12)]]

The default character in the vanilla version of the game. In the anime, he is known as Ritsu Shikishima, a knowledgeable student at Kishimai High School who is well versed in psychology and philosophy.
----
* AmbiguousDisorder: In the anime, [[spoiler: when he returns to the real world,]] he speaks with a stutter, blinks rapidly, and avoids making eye contact. That, combined with his struggles to interact socially, are common symptoms of autism, but it is never specified if he has a disorder.
* AmnesiacHero: In the anime, for some reason, he can't remember his past in the real world. It is unknown what caused his memories from the real world to be suppressed after arriving in Mobius. Throughout the episodes, he slowly starts to remember a fragment of his past. [[spoiler:The reason why he can't remember his past because he suppressed it since he dislikes his old self. He wanted to be the person he wants to be like Shingo.]]
* AnguishedDeclarationOfLove: In the anime, Ritsu confesses his love to [[spoiler:μ before he kills her in the final battle.]]
* BadassBookworm: In the anime, Ritsu is very knowledgeable about the human psyche and perception. A few of his friends before becoming aware of Mobius' true nature even refer to him as Professor Ritsu. It's also because of his knowledge of the human mind that he begins to notice the irregularity about Mobius. And when he awakens to his Catharsis Effect, he finally becomes this.
* BecomingTheMask: In the anime, Ritsu appears to be very sociable and friendly towards the people he meets. However,[[spoiler:his personality was actually based on his co-worker, Shingo Tachibana because he was jealous of Shingo, who has no problem with socializing with other people. His real personality was anti-social, lonesome and prefers to work alone.]]
** Later subverted in the finale. [[spoiler:After taking heavy damage from μ while trying to bring her back to her senses, he sheds his avatar's appearance to reveal his real self, showing that he no longer needs to rely on his copy of Shingo.]]
* ChickMagnet: Kotono, Mifue, Suzuna, Naruko all have feelings for him as seen in bonding and character episodes, and that's just within the club. Hilariously can be seen on main game image which shows Kotono all over him. Aria also takes to him pretty fast. μ is also very fond of him, which is is also reflected in game art as well as the anime. He also has a few ShipTease moments with Marie. ''Overdose'' adds a few other female characters, including Mirei and Wicked in the Forbidden Musician Route. The only subverted instance is with Ayana, who in spite of feeling comfortable around him [[DoesNotLikeMen despite hating men with a passion]], never shows any real interest in him.
* {{Determinator}}: Early on, Aria informs Ritsu that he isn't capable of developing a Catharsis Effect yet. In Episode 6, however, as he watches everyone fight the Ostinato Musicians and ponders as to how they could be so strong to want to face reality, he manages to awaken his own Catharis Effect ''without Aria's help'' and stops μ's FreakOut by himself.
* GetAHoldOfYourselfMan: [[spoiler:Delivers one to Shogo with a [[CallBack headbutt]] to snap him out of a FreakOut]].
* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: When Kotaro runs off to help whoever is screaming at the Landmark Tower, Ritsu opts to instead find the Judgement Gate and return to reality. It's only after Kotono and Mifue show him the horrible treatment of everyone inside that he decides to help Kotaro.
* KillTheOnesYouLove: In the anime, he does this to [[spoiler:μ in the final battle. It was the only way to save everyone trapped in Mobius.]]
* IdentityImpersonator: In the anime reveals that [[spoiler:Ritsu's avatar in Modius was actually based on one of his co-workers, Shingo Tachibana.]]
* LivingEmotionalCrutch: Through Character Episodes, he turns out to be this to [[spoiler:Suzuna]].
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: Has this when he realizes what μ has been doing. [[spoiler:Given that he was the one who helped make her, and the one to help her develop sentience, his reaction is more than justified.]]
* NoSocialSkills: [[spoiler:In the anime, it reveals that Ritsu wasn't very good at socializing with other people, not even his co-workers who he helped to created μ. The only person he was comfortable talking to was μ before arriving to Mobius.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:In the anime, he appears to be in his mid-late 20s when he's seen in the real world.]]
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Seemingly the case in the anime. After the [[spoiler:death of Shadow Knife and the revelation that dying in Mobius means dying in the real world]], the Go-Home Club returns home, weary and exhausted. Ritsu, however, is [[spoiler:at the Judgement Gate, using a console before entering it.]] When the Go-Home Club is trapped inside the room, Ritsu is nowhere to be found, which leads a few to suspect that he is a traitor. Subverted, since [[spoiler:after returning to the real world, he's actually trying to restore μ's program and save everyone in Mobius.]]
* ShipTease: With Marie in the anime adaptation. They're even already well acquainted before he becomes aware of the fact that Mobius is not the real world. Further implied in the Forbidden Musician route in ''Overdose.'' In the game, the male protagonist has a few moments, notably with Suzune, Mifue, Kotono and Naruko.
** [[spoiler:Averted in the anime when Marie reveals herself as Wicked, calling him a "lame virgin" and wondering what sort of expression he would have made if he saw her.]]
* ThereAreNoTherapists: Subverted in the anime. Flashbacks reveal Ritsu attending therapy.
* UnwittingInstigatorOfDoom: [[spoiler:Ritsu was one of the people in charge of developing μ. Due to his own social awkwardness, Ritsu often confided with μ and spoke about the ways people hurt and found happiness in various ways. He never realized that he was helping her develop sentience and cause her to create Mobius. Though to be fair to Ritsu, μ would never have gotten so messed up if she hadn't met [[MagnificentBastard Thorn]].]]
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler: The anime shows him to have returned to the real world and is fixed on restoring μ back to normal.]]

!!Female Protagonist
[[quoteright:208:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/female_protagonist.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MiyukiSawashiro

The female protagonist, exclusive in the UpdatedReRelease of ''Caligula Overdose''. Choosing to play as her will result in different character interactions with members of the Go-Home Club, as well as certain events in the story.
----
* ActionGirl: Undoubtedly the case, given that she's the protagonist and the first to develop a Catharsis Effect.
* AllGirlsWantBadBoys: Inverted. In the Forbidden Musician Route, even the male members of the Ostinato Musicians, once they learn Lucid's actual gender, will show no small amount of affection as you progress through their Character Episodes. That even includes Ike-P, who basks in the attention he receives towards his female fans, and Stork, who is most ''definitely'' pleased to know Lucid is a woman.
* AmbiguouslyBi: It's ambiguous if the female protagonist is actually straight or not, but quite a few female characters show an interest in her. Ayana being the biggest indication. Subverted in the case of [[spoiler:Sweet-P, who is actually male in real life.]]
* BrainyBrunette: Can be this, depending on the player's choices in the game.
* BoyishShortHair: She has short light brown hair.
* CoolBigSis: Alongside Kotono, she can definitely fit this role, especially with the other more childish members like Naruko and Kotaro.
* DarkActionGirl: In the Forbidden Musician Route, though played with immensely. While she is a member of the Ostinato Musicians, she doesn't necessarily have to be evil towards the Go-Home Club. [[spoiler:Unless, of course, you're aiming for the DownerEnding. Then she can definitely qualify as this.]]
* DangerouslyShortSkirt: In her artwork, the female protagonist's skirt is unusually short, compared to other female characters. In game, though her skirt is the same length as everyone else.
* EvenTheGirlsWantHer: Ayana is one of a few female characters who are attracted to the female protagonist.
* FourGirlEnsemble: With Wicked, Kuchinashi and Mirei, [[spoiler:as technically speaking Sweet-P and Thorn are actually men in real life.]]
* PlatonicLifePartners: Towards the male members of Ostinato Musicians in the Forbidden Musician Route if she chooses.
* ShipTease: With Ayana, who makes it abundantly clear that she feels ''something'' for the female protagonist, possibly even more than her male counterpart. In the last segment of her Character Episode, she asks her if she ''has'' to marry a man before asking her what her type is. And that's to say nothing about the interactions between her and Shogo.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The tomboy to Ayana's girly girl.

!!Lucid
[[quoteright:350:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/lucid.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' ???
->'''Theme song by:''' [=UtsuP=]

The newest member of the Ostinato Musicians, and the President of the Go-Home Club. Thorn offered the protagonist a chance to understand those who's hardships cannot let them have peace in the real world. To understand both sides, they join and forsake their former identity.
----
* TheAce: Similar to their role in the Go-Home Club, Lucid quickly becomes this to the Ostinato Musicians as well. In a WIRE conversation, Sweet-P even believes that Lucid is Thorn's secret weapon. Other Musicians are also quick to praise Lucid's combat prowess. Even the Go-Home club recognizes that they're the strongest of their foes midway through the story.
* AllAmazonsWantHercules: As you progress through Mirei and Wicked's Character Episodes, it's more or less implied that they start to fancy the male protagonist. Alternatively an inverted AllGirlsWantBadBoys, as a female protagonist earns the affections of the male members.
* AmbiguousGender: Has the same appearance regardless of the protagonist's gender.
* BrokenPedestal: Becomes this to the [[spoiler:Go-Home Club after the protagonist reveals themselves to be Lucid -- the very same Ostinato Musician that has kicked their asses repeatedly throughout the story. The pedestal breaks even more if you completed all of their Character Episodes.]]
* CurbStompBattle: Lucid is arguably the strongest Ostinato Musician, as they hand these out like candy to the Going-Home Club. At the end of the Forbidden Musician Route, they even take on [[spoiler:the entire club and Aria]] on their own and win.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Depending on your actions, of course. Despite being one of the Go-Home Club's enemies, and a downright terrifying one at that, they're actually rather pleasant, being good friends with the Musicians and helping them with their own respective traumas as they would for the Go-Home Club.
* TheDragon: Can possibly be this to Thorn, should Lucid follow her to the very end.
* DisneyVillainDeath[=/=]CessationOfExistence: [[spoiler:Lucid's fate and the fate of every other individual in realty... and in Mobius, should you choose to side with Thorn to the very end.]]
* TheDreaded: After a few encounters that end in their defeat, Lucid becomes the Go-Home club's boogeyman.
* DudeWheresMyRespect: Averted, for the most part. Mirei treats them with about as much respect as she does everybody else, but even she agrees with the others about Lucid's combat prowess.
* EnsembleDarkHorse: Lucid quickly becomes popular among the brainwashed denizens of Mobius when their song, Suicide Prototype, debuts during their first mission. In one of Mirei's Character Scenario's, μ says Lucid's song is at the very top in rankings.
* EvilMakeover: Unlike Kensuke whose appearance doesn't change at all after leaving the Musicians, Lucid looks ''radically'' different from the protagonist, ditching the school uniform for a hat, scarf, and longcoat.
* EvilWearsBlack: Wears black in contrast with the "good" Protagonist wearing brighter colors.
* TheFaceless: With the exception of Thorn and μ, none of the Musicians know what Lucid really looks like, on account of him being invisible. The Go-Home Club is unaware of their true appearance also. [[spoiler:At least until the President drops the facade in the DownerEnding.]]
* GratuitousEnglish: "Lucid" is written in English even in the Japanese version.
* TheGrimReaper: Their design more or less invokes this. Taken UpToEleven near the end of the Forbidden Musician Route, should you [[spoiler:side with Thorn. The protagonist defeats the Go-Home Club singe-handedly and destroyed Aria...and allows μ to fulfill Thorn's wish to destroy reality, ''which also kills everyone inside Mobius.'']]
* {{Invisibility}}: Appears to be completely invisible other than their head and their clothing. This is even part of their RunningGag as people ask whether Lucid is a guy or girl. [[PeepingTom Stork, on the other hand, admires Lucid for having such an ability.]]
* IronicName: "Lucid" typically means ''easy to understand'' or ''expressed clearly''. A possible reason behind this name could be based on Thorn playing on the protagonist's doubts about returning to reality, as they must have had a reason to enter Mobius in the first place. Depending on the player's choice when it comes time to deal with Thorn and μ near the end of the game, this name has much more significance.
* KarmaHoudini: Played up as this in the Forbidden Musician Route. Depending on how things go, the Go-Home Club will never know that the president and Lucid are the same person.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Suicide Prototype". The song itself even references Lucid's predicament and confusion about whether or not they want to stay in Mobius or want to return to the real world. InUniverse, μ considers it to be one of the best songs she's seen written while Thorn sees it as part of Lucid's HiddenDepths. The song itself also becomes something of an EnsembleDarkHorse InUniverse for the denizens of Mobius.
** In the boss rush leading up to the fight with [[spoiler:Aria]], Lucid's theme changes to the remix, which is dark and unsettling: reflecting that they [[spoiler:have completely forsaken their identity as the President of the Go-Home Club and want to see the world burn. A fact reflected in the ''only lyrics'' of the remix.]]
--->''[[PrecisionFStrike Fuck]] this world''
* TheMole: Partially subverted. Despite betraying the Go-Home Club, Lucid never actually uses his position to his advantage. This is most likely because Thorn let them join in order to understand that there are people in Mobius that cannot lead a normal life in the real world due to their severe traumas. [[spoiler:In a rare inversion in terms of roles, they actually use their position in the Musicians to their advantage to get info on [[BitchInSheepsClothing Eiji]] through Koki, who in Kuchinashi's Character Scenario was put in a secret area to prevent Eiji from finding and killing him.]]
* NiceHat: Artwork and in-game shows Lucid sporting a rather spiffy fedora.
* NiceJobBreakingItHero: In the Forbidden Musician's DownerEnding, Lucid [[spoiler:defeats the entire cast of the Go-Home Club, including Aria, and willingly helps Thorn's wish to destroy the real world come to pass. Then everyone is killed in the aftermath, leaving μ by herself.]]
* NoShirtLongJacket: It's hard to tell, but Lucid isn't actually wearing a shirt.
* NotSoStoic: Outside of Character Episodes with the Musicians, Lucid is a man/woman of few words ([[SilentProtagonist obviously]]). However, the first hint of them showing emotion, or rather understanding, is when Kuchinashi says that Mobius is a place created for the purpose of making people happy following their victory against Shogo and Izuru. Given that they joined in order to understand people who can live only in Mobius, it seems they're starting to understand what Thorn meant.
* OddFriendship: Can develop one with a few of the more...odd members of the Musicians. That includes [[{{Sadist}} Wicked]], [[ChivalrousPervert Stork]] and [[{{Chuunibyou}} Shadow Knife]], among others.
* OneManArmy: Becomes this for the Ostinato Musicians, as they pull more than their own weight in defeating the Going-Home Club and rightfully becomes TheDreaded to them. At the end of the Forbidden Musician Route, they [[spoiler:defeat the entire Going-Home Club at once and then Aria]], all without Thorn's assistance.
* TheReveal: Done InUniverse. [[spoiler:For a long time, the Go-Home Club wondered who Lucid was, as they had next to no information on them. And since they joined sometime after Keisuke's defection, even he wouldn't know anything. Imagine their surprise when their President walks up to Thorn and turns to them, [[SmugSmiler smiling]] as they drag a hand over half their face...and reveal half of Lucid's skull before adopting the Musician persona entirely. [[HeroicBSOD They're...less than happy.]]]]
* RookieRedRanger: Initially, the other Musicians see Lucid as this until it becomes blatantly clear that Thorn personally invited them ''for a reason''.
* RunningGag: Because Lucid's appearance is the same regardless of which gender you picked for the protagonist, and their body is invisble, both the Musicians and the Go-Home Club are unsure if they are male or female.
* SkullForAHead: The protagonist's face is hidden behind a black skull. Artwork makes it ambiguous if the skull is composed of flames or not, whereas the in-game model has no features.
* TheVoiceless: Seems to be the case. In battle and in cutscenes, the protagonist has a distinct voice. Lucid, meanwhile, has no voice to speak of. Not during battle, or even in what few cutscenes he's in. This is most likely done to hide the fact that the protagonist and Lucid are one of the same.
* TokenGoodTeammate: Can be this to the Ostinato Musicians. While Lucid may be one of the bad guys, they are still the protagonist. Best shown when they interact with the other Musicians, especially the harsher and more dangerous musicians like Mirei, Wicked and Thorn. In the latter case, however, that [[TheCorrupter might not be a good thing]]...

[[folder:The Go-Home Club]]
!!Aria
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/aria_90.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AsamiShimoda

A Virtuadoll like μ, she's one of the co-creators of Mobius. She's cheerful and casual in contrast to μ's beauty and perfectionism. However, μ's increasing control of Mobius has caused her power to fade, and as such takes on a small, fairy-like appearance and seeks to stop her and return to the real world. She is able to help the members of the Go-Home Club awaken to the power of their Catharsis Effects.
----
* BigDamnHeroes: In the final episode, [[spoiler: she saves everyone in the Go-Home Club before μ could absorb them, including Shougo and Thorn from falling into oblivion in the last seconds.]]
* FinalBoss: [[spoiler:Of the Musician route.]]
* GratuitousEnglish: "Are you Ready? Go Liiiive!" She also uses "YOU" in English (written in all caps) to refer to other people.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Veritas".
* SleepModeSize: Throughout the game, she is tiny and has a SuperDeformed appearance as a result of μ's increasing power. In the epilogue, her true appearance can be seen.
** In ''Overdose'', she is able to return to normal size though the context surrounding this is currently unknown.
* SyntheticVoiceActor: Similar to μ.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: [[spoiler: The only one of the heroes not to be shown in the anime's epilogue.]]

!!Shogo Satake
[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shogo_satake_catharsis.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ShunsukeTakeuchi

A third-year student at Kishimai High and the initial president of the Go-Home Club, though he steps down after Kensuke joins the club. He seems lethargic, but is very philosophical and has a strong desire to return to the real world. It's implied that he's been in Mobius for a very long time. His Catharsis Effect awakens when his anger towards Mobius comes to the surface when Kotono is captured by Digiheads. His birthday is on January 22nd.
----
* TheAlcoholic: In WIRE messages, he laments that it's hard to get alcohol because he's in high school again. However, that doesn't stop him from ''bringing a six-pack to school'' in episode 7 of the anime.
* {{BFG}}: His Catharsis Effect weapon is a very large revolver with a grenade launcher.
* BoomHeadshot: More or less what his Overdose is. He pins the enemy down with his foot while they're on the ground and aims his gun at their head before he proceeds to blow their brains out.
* ChainedByFashion: His Catharsis Effect takes the form of a pair of broken handcuffs.
* CrashIntoHello: Introduces himself to the protagonist by headbutting them.
* DualBoss: With Izuru on the Musician route. [[spoiler:Is fought solo in the final fight, as the last member before Aria.]]
* FiveStagesOfGrief: [[spoiler:Stage 4 over Ichika's death. He eventually gets to Stage 5.]]
* HeroicBSOD: [[spoiler:After Thorn commits suicide.]]
* HeManWomanHater: Subverted. Since the trauma incident after [[spoiler:Ichika's death]], he becomes awkward around women. However, he gets over it with the protagonist's help if his Character Episode is completed. In ''Overdose'', he seems to have no problem around the female protagonist.
* MrExposition: Serves as this in the anime, having awakened to his Catharsis Effect before anyone else.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:Believes he was responsible for Ichika's death, and 13 years later still feels awful about it.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:He is ''30'', not 18.]]
* SevenDeadlySins: Sloth. Dislikes making decisions and prefers having others do work for him.
* TakingYouWithMe: In the anime, [[spoiler: as Mobius is slowly dissolving around them, he decides to stop Thorn's control of μ by grabbing Thorn and shooting the ground out beneath them so they fell into oblivion. Subverted in that Aria managed to save them at the last minute.]]
* TraumaButton: Every time Shogo sees people do a similar suicide falling on top of a building like [[spoiler:Ichika,]] he will panic and loses his composure.
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler: The anime shows him having moved on from Ichika's death and is leaving his room for the first time in ten years, even struggling to walk as he hasn't used his legs in so long.]]
* WouldHitAGirl: He doesn't mind headbutting the protagonist when they first meet whether they are male or female in ''Overdose''.

!!Kotono Kashiwaba
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kotono_kashiwaba_catharsis.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/RieMurakawa

A third-year student at Kishimai High who's very popular for her kindness and maturity. She's seen as an older sister in the Go-Home Club. Her Catharsis Effect awakens very shortly after being rescued from a trap by the protagonist and Shogo.
----
* AbusiveParents: Is implied [[spoiler:to be this.]] In brief flashbacks, she is shown in a ratty apartment complex, about to slap someone. Given the circumstances that led to her entering Mobius, it's [[spoiler:fair to assume that she would hit Takkun in her worst moments.]] [[AllThereInTheManual The guidebook]] for ''Overdose'' confirms that [[spoiler:she was very neglectful towards Takkun, but regrets it deeply.]]
* AdaptationalVillainy: In the game, she was already part of the good guys. In the anime, she's actually working ''with'' Mirei as a brainwashing agent for the Musicians, [[SubvertedTrope until]] she eventually [[HeelFaceTurn turns on them]] thanks to Ritsu.
* BewareTheNiceOnes: While she's normally one of the sweetest members of the Go-Home Club, Mirei manages to invoke her wrath more than once. She has some... choice words for her after learning about her plot involving Ryosuke:
-->'''Kotono:''' Fugly! Turkey chin! Deep-sea fish face, bow-legged, flat-footed, boob-implanted, nose-jobbed, saggy butt, cyborg bitch!
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: In the first episode of the anime, she was captured by Kensuke and then turned into a Digihead. In Episode 5, she's revealed to be working under Mirei, roping in men and brainwashing them. However, she subconsciously begins to remember that Mobius is not the real world and, by the end of Episode 6, breaks free from her brainwashing and develops a Catharsis Effect.
* DoesNotLikeMen: In the anime, Kotono is slightly condescending towards the men she is seducing, and is fairly violent towards Ritsu near the end of Episode 5. She is even about to slap him until the action reminds her that [[spoiler:she abused her son simply because he was male.]] When you remember that [[spoiler:her ex-boyfriend impregnated her and then ran out on her when he found out on her]], though, her reason for hating males in general is understandable.
* DualBoss: With Eiji in the Musician route. [[spoiler:In the final fight, she's paired up with Kotaro/Eiji and Naruko instead.]]
* EnergyBow: Her Catharsis Effect weapon.
* HeelRealization: While under the effects of the Musicians' brainwashing and turned into a Digihead, she does slowly start to realize that there is something wrong about Mobius, especially if it means she can see Aria. This trope comes into effect when she is about to slap Ritsu when he is forced to be the final judge in the competition between her and Mirei. Before she can hit him, however, she remembers she [[spoiler:has a son in the real world that she ''abused'', simply because he was the same gender as the person who impregnated her and then left her alone to raise him.]] This helps her realize her flaws and wants to return to reality, allowing her to unlock her Catharsis Effect.
* MoodWhiplash: [[spoiler:Kotono was surprised to have a kid after a single encounter, but she was delighted to start a family with Ryosuke. Her smile only faded after learning that their relationship was just a fling to him. Furthermore, Kotono found herself in the same predicament as her mother.]]

* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Is 23, not 18.]]
* SlutShaming: [[spoiler:Kotono, who grew up without a father, used to judge her loose mother for running a hostess bar. However, during the aftermath of her pregnancy, Kotono comes to appreciate her supportive mother.]]

The Go-Home Club's moodmaker, Kotaro is a cheerful guy who wants to help everybody he meets (though you wouldn't know it from his looks). He dreams of becoming a rescue worker like his father. His Catharsis Effect awakens when a defenseless Mifue and Suzuna are threatened.
----
* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler:When Kotaro's parents died, his uncle took him in [[OnlyInItForTheMoney to collect on their life insurance]]. He treated Kotaro like garbage, and his cousin Yuto didn't exactly help with that.]]
* BerserkButton: Bullies, ''especially'' ones that brag about it.
* ButtMonkey: The usual butt of the Go-Home Club's jokes, especially from Aria.
* ChronicHeroSyndrome: [[spoiler:He's so insistent on helping people because of his own self-worth issues. His Deep Trauma is even called "Hero Syndrome".]]
* DualBoss: With Kensuke in the Musician route [[spoiler:unless he dies, in which case Eiji replaces him]]. [[spoiler:In the final fight, he's paired up with Kotono and Naruko instead.]]
* HeroicSacrifice: [[spoiler:If you haven't completed Eiji's Character Episode and exposed him, Kotaro will sacrifice himself to save Shadow Knife from falling to his death.]]
* KilledOffForReal: [[spoiler:His fate in the UpdatedRerelease ''Overdose'' unless you complete Eiji's Character Episode, he'll pull off a HeroicSacrifice to save Shadow Knife from his death, though he ends up dying instead. Averted, however, if you complete Eiji's Character Episode.]]
* PowerFist: His Catharsis Effect weapon is a pair of gauntlets.
* RapidFireFisticuffs: He has a regular skill that does this, and his Overdose skill is a souped-up version of it with perfect accuracy.
* TheReasonYouSuckSpeech: Delivers one to ''Naruko'', of all people, after he realizes that [[spoiler:her Gossiper followers aren't real people.]]
* RougeAnglesOfSatin: His Gossiper handle is supposed to say "Rescueman", but he spells it "Lesquman".
* YoungerThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Is only 14, not 18.]]

!!Kensuke Hibiki

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ShoutaAoi
->'''Theme song by:''' [=40mP=]

Kensuke is a first-year Kishimai High student, but he's better known to most as Kagi-P, one of the Ostinato musicians. However, his defeat at the hands of the Go-Home Club leads him to question himself and ultimately join them. He's a sarcastic and carefree person, but there's gloominess behind his sarcasm. His birthday is on February 27th.
----
* {{BFS}}: His Catharsis Effect weapon is a big two-handed sword.
* DefeatMeansFriendship[=/=]HeelFaceTurn: He starts out as a member of the Ostinato Musicians, but joins the Going-Home Club after being defeated in his boss battle.
* DesperatelyLookingForAPurposeInLife: His main reason for joining the Go-Home Club and major part of his Character Episodes.
* DualBoss: With Kotaro (or Eiji) in the Musician route. [[spoiler:In the final fight, he's paired up with Izuru instead.]]
* {{Foil}}:
** To Lucid; whereas Kensuke left the Musicians in order to find his own purpose in life, Lucid ''joined'' them after Thorn played on their doubts to return to reality.
** To Naruko; the two of them both have a lot of talent in writing (Kensuke in music and poetry, Naruko in fiction), but Kensuke has a hard time believing the glowing praise he receives whereas Naruko gets a lot of negativity but does her best to focus on what little positivity she receives.
* GrowingUpSucks: [[spoiler:Is afraid of growing up because he doesn't want to be a boring adult.]]
* HiddenDepths: [[spoiler:He has a knack for poetry.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Peter Pan Syndrome". [[spoiler:That title, incidentally, is also the name of his Deep Trauma.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Is 19, not 16.]]
* StarterVillain: The first of the Ostinato Musicians to be fought, and acknowledged by the other Musicians as being the weakest. Averted in the anime, where he stays out of direct combat until Episode 6 (after which he joins the Go-Home Club off-screen).
* TrailersAlwaysSpoil: His identity as Kagi-P is made obvious in pre-release material; both are listed with the same voice actor, and Kagi-P is absent from a group picture of the Ostinato Musicians. The English website even ''spells it out in his bio.'' At this point, it's a LateArrivalSpoiler.
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler: Is shown in the anime to be studying hard in school.]]

!!Mifue Shinohara
[[quoteright:240:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mifue_shinohara_catharsis.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/RieTakahashi

A cheerful and bold first-year student whose graceful figure belies a big appetite. However, she tends to have a rather short temper. Her Catharsis Effect awakens when she and the protagonist get ambushed by Digiheads at Papiko mall. Her birthday is on April 20th.
----
* BadassAdorable
* BigEater: Loves food, especially sweets.[[spoiler:.. in Mobius, anyway.]]
* BlueIsHeroic: For the anime promotional materials, the color she is usually associated with is a light blue.
* CoolMask: Gains this when she awakens her Catharsis Effect.
* CrushBlush: If you imply that you want a RelationshipUpgrade with her near the end of her character episodes, she becomes a blushing mess because of said implication.
* TheCutie: Not only this, but the reason why the Go-Home Club thinks that she's the top candidate for Sweet-P's tea party invite was because she fits in with her 'Dreamy Cute' aesthetic.
* DualBoss: With Ayana on the Musician route. [[spoiler:In the final fight, Suzuna joins them.]]
* DropTheHammer: Her Catharsis Effect weapon looks like a croquet hammer.
* FlowerMotifs: The flowers that appear along side her Catharsis Effect are african daisies, lilium rubellum, and thistle. The african daisies represents energy, innocence, constant love, and healthy person. The lilium rubellum represents growing curiosity, purity, and heart's appearance. And finally, thistle represents independence, rigidness, and don't touch. These describe her character quite well. She also underwent as 'Sunflower' for Sweet-P's tea party to go along with her ThemeNaming requirement.
* GenkiGirl: Most of the time.
* GirlsLoveChocolate: If her TrademarkFavoriteFood is any indication.
* GuysSmashGirlsShoot: Averted with the male protagonist and Shogo.
* HeterosexualLifePartners: With Suzuna in the games. This is due to the fact that they were the only girls in the Go-Home Club who were in the same grade. Mifue is also this with Naruko in the anime.
* IllGirl: [[spoiler:In reality, is in the hospital with critically low blood sugar.]]
* IrrationalHatred: Really, ''really'' hates fat people. She sucks it up to get into Sweet-P's inner circle, and eventually gets over it with the protagonist's help.
* MissingMom: Most of her character episodes revolve around her trying to find her mother after she suddenly disappeared. [[spoiler:By the time she finds her, she's become an EmptyShell.]]
** The anime even shows the disappearance. One night, Mifue and her mother have a conversation over dinner about how Mifue is lucky that she can eat and not get fat. Later, μ visits Mifue at her home and asks if she is happy. The next day, when Mifue gets home from school she finds that her mother has been replaced with a completely different person (both appearance- and personality-wise).
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Only by a year, but still. She's 17, not 16.]]
* OnlySaneWoman: She has her moments here and there, but it mostly applies to her in Mirei's dungeon.
* ProperTightsWithASkirt: What she wears with her school uniform. Interestingly enough, she was originally going to wear plain, white stockings according to the guide book.
* ShesGotLegs: According to her WIRE profile.
* TomboyWithAGirlyStreak: Her school uniform is very casual compared to Ayana's and Suzuna's. Prior to the game, she was on the volleyball team and her DLC casual outfit in ''Overdose'' is a trendy tracksuit. She also enjoys sweets very much, in the game's original Vita ending, she's seen wearing a pink dress. She likes to wear jewelry with her necklace and ring evident in her official art, and finally she enjoys flowers, especially sunflowers.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: Goes both ways with Mifue. The tomboy to Suzuna's girly girl and the girly girl to Naruko's tomboy.
* TrademarkFavoriteFood: Chocolate cornets, as evidenced by her WIRE icon.
* UndercoverAsLovers: She and the protagonist pretend to be boyfriend and girlfriend in order for her to take him with her to Sweet-P's tea party after the first dungeon in the game. If you're playing as the female protagonist, this is done in a more implicit way; the protagonist stands close to her, leading to this exchange:
-->'''Mifue:''' H-hey! President! Why are you standing so close?
-->'''Iris:''' Oh! You don't need to say anything. Let me go ask Sweet-P if this is okay!
-->'''Mifue:''' Oh... Thank you...??? ''(to the protagonist)'' You better explain yourself after this!
* WeightWoe: [[spoiler:Played for drama. It's all but stated that she's anorexic, and the fact that she's in the hospital with low blood sugar only adds to this. Her Catharsis Effect covering her mouth could be seen as a reflection of how she eats very little in real life.]]
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler:Is shown in the anime to still be in the hospital due to her anorexia, but has successfully apologised to her mother.]]

!!Suzuna Kagura

->'''Voiced by:''' Minami Tanaka

A quiet first-year student who's good friends with Mifue. She's timid, but cares greatly for her friends. When she sets her mind to a task she always finds a way to see it to the end. Her birthday is on June 23rd.
----
* BladeOnAStick: Her Catharsis Effect weapon.
* DualBoss: With Naruko on the Musician route. [[spoiler:In the final fight, she's with Mifue and Ayana instead.]]
* EatingLunchAlone: Always eats her lunch in the ''bathroom''.
* LaughingMad: [[spoiler:Lets out a pretty creepy laugh when fighting Lucid if you've maxed out her character episodes.]]
* TheMedic: Her healing is the strongest in the Go-Home Club.
* NiceHat: Her Catharsis Effect takes on the form of a witch's hat. It being big enough to cover her face is reflective of her being a ShrinkingViolet.
* NotSoDifferent: Delivers a speech like this to Shonen-Doll.
* NotSoImaginaryFriend: [[spoiler:All of her classmates in Mobius are soulless husks of her middle school classmates.]]
* ShipTease: With Akira Komori (Shonen Doll) in the anime adaption.
* ShrinkingViolet: Around most people.
* SuddenlyShouting: She used to be in glee club, so she can ''really'' project her voice if need be.
* UsedToBeMoreSocial: [[spoiler:She was very social in middle school, but people started teasing her relentlessly upon arriving in high school, leading her to become as reserved as she is now.]]
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler: The anime shows her cheerfully reading in the park before being joined by what is heavily implied to be Akira Komori (Shonen Doll).]]

!!Naruko Morita
[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/naruko_morita_catharsis.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AriOzawa

An insatiably curious second-year student who lives for rumors, gossip, and attention. She gained some fame when she started investigating the Go-Home Club, but later joins their cause after learning the truth of Mobius from Aria; her Catharsis Effect awakens after she finds herself trapped and hopeless in Shonen-Doll's library. Her birthday is on May 28th.
----
* AdaptationalHeroism: In the game, she sells out the Go-Home Club, before eventually joining them. In the anime, no such thing happens and forms the club with them.
* AttackDrone: Her Catharsis Effect weapon is a pair of switchblade-shaped drones. In the Vita version, they could be issued separate commands, but this was removed in ''Overdose''.
* AttentionWhore: She does a lot for attention online. Near the beginning, she posts an identifying picture of the Go-Home Club online ''just so she could get more followers.''
* BaitAndSwitch: [[spoiler:The Go-Home Club are initially led to believe that Naruko is Wicked, but this is a trap devised by the ''real'' Wicked, her friend Marie.]]
* BeamSpam: In some of her attacks.
* DamselInDistress: [[spoiler:Gets kidnapped by Wicked.]]
* DeflectorShields: In the anime, her AttackDrones can generate these to protect herself and her teammates.
* DualBoss: With Suzuna on the Musician route. [[spoiler:In the final fight, she's with Kotono and Kotaro/Eiji instead.]]
* {{Foil}}: To Kensuke; the two of them both have a lot of talent in writing (Kensuke in music and poetry, Naruko in fiction), but Kensuke has a hard time believing the glowing praise he receives whereas Naruko gets a lot of negativity but does her best to focus on what little positivity she receives.
* HumiliationConga: [[spoiler:Her family being accused of being anti-Japanese led to her being shunned by her classmates. She turned to Gossiper to vent about what happened... only to find out she had been venting to one of said classmates all along, who then ''printed their conversations out and put them on the classroom blackboard'' just to humiliate her further. Then she ends up getting sucked into Mobius after trolling μ's music videos, and ''then'' she's betrayed by one of her only friends within Mobius, Marie, who uses her as bait for the Go-Home Club.]]
* IJustWantToHaveFriends: [[spoiler:The reason she's so desperate for attention is because she was shunned by all her friends and classmates in real life.]]
* IShouldWriteABookAboutThis: Her Character Episodes involve her writing a book about her experiences in Mobius, but framed with a StandardFantasySetting.
* KarmaHoudini: Despite initially selling out the Go-Home Club, it's brushed under the rug and she ends up joining them.
* OnlyFriend: Before joining the Go-Home Club, Marie.
* ShipperOnDeck: Is obviously aware that there seems to be ''something'' between Ritsu and Marie, even noting that she shows up much more often when he is around. [[spoiler:Of course, by this point, she still has no idea that Marie is Wicked.]]
* {{Troll}}: In addition to her habit of posting stuff on Gossiper against others' wishes, [[spoiler:she used to be one after the incident that caused all of her classmates to hate her.]]
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler: Shown to have quit SNS and is now working on getting started as a writer.]]

!!Izuru Minezawa
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/izuru_minezawa_catharsis.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YuichiroUmehara (Game, Episode 1-8), Creator/TomoakiMaeno (Episode 9-12)

A second-year student who has taken on the appearance of a little-known dead celebrity. He's a nearly emotionless loner, and shows very little care or interest in other people. He finally joins the Go-Home Club after Shonen-Doll is defeated, and awakens to his Catharsis Effect after a near-death experience causes him to truly feel emotion. His birthday is on July 8th.
* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler:His mother was very controlling of him and never let him do anything on his own. That's why he does everything by himself in Mobius... well, tries to, anyway.]]
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:Is turned into a doll by Shonen-Doll and is believed to be too far gone for Aria to save him. However, after Shonen-Doll is defeated, Izuru returns to normal.]]
* CoolMask[=/=]TwoFaced: His Catharsis Effect takes the form of a mask covering the left side of his face.
* CoolSword: His Catharsis Effect weapon.
* DarkIsNotEvil: Some of the names of his attack skills are more sinister-sounding than the other party members, but he's definitely one of the good guys.
* DeadpanSnarker: He has his moments.
* DeadPersonImpersonation: [[AllThereInTheManual It's not stated in-game]], but his appearance within Mobius is that of a minor in-universe celebrity who committed suicide.
** Possibly because that was considered too dark, but the anime adaptation changes it to instead of swapping Izuru's face to hide the scars, μ instead uses her powers to constantly heal any damage done to Izuru's face to reset it back to it's "ideal" state much to Izuru's dismay.
* DualBoss: With Shogo on the Musician route. [[spoiler:In the final fight, he's paired up with Kensuke instead.]]
* EvenTheGuysWantHim: In the anime, most of the comments about him are from women, but there is one boy who writes "Please take me at once. I offer you my everything."
* GoodScarsEvilScars: In the anime, according to him, he has scars on his left side to prove he is himself in the real world. However in Mobius, his scars disappear to due μ's power.
* HollywoodPersonalityDisorders: [[spoiler:Schizoid personality disorder.]]
* HopelessWithTech: He can use his phone for WIRE, but he seems to only barely know what he's doing. All his messages are sent in hiragana in the Japanese version (in the English version, they're just very short), and he has the default blank icon because he doesn't know how to change it. [[spoiler:This could have to do with his mother's control over him; he probably didn't have access to a cell phone or computer before arriving in Mobius.]] Ayana makes use of this in her character episode when she writes letters to all the male members of the Go-Home Club; she threatens to change his phone's password if he doesn't read her letter.
* LonerTurnedFriend: Initially rejects Shogo's offers to join the Go-Home Club, but after Shonen-Doll is defeated he starts tagging along.
* LonersAreFreaks: Averted. Many people at Kishimai High consider Izuru to be mysterious and cool.
* SelfHarm: [[GoryDiscretionShot It's never seen on screen]], but he even does it in public in one of his Character Episodes. It's also heavily implied in the game that the reason his Catharsis Effect appears as a mask is because he has self-harm scars on his face in real life. The anime confirms this. In fact, the mask that forms over the left-half of his face emerges from a cut that somehow appears on his cheek.
* SlasherSmile: In the anime, he sports a very disturbing one when he realizes the wounds he receives aren't healing due to μ being in a coma. He has an opportunity to slash the left side of his face repeatedly with a glass shard until μ slowly regaining consciousness and his face return back to normal.
* SparedByAdaptation: The anime saved him from being turned into a doll by Shounen Doll before joining the Go-Home Club.
* TheStoic: Very rarely expresses emotion, to the point where ''he's convinced himself'' that he doesn't have emotions.
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler: The anime shows him to have confronted his mother about her controlling behaviour and now he is happily strolling the city by his own power.]]

[[folder:Mu and the Ostinato Musicians]]
!!μ
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mu.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ReinaUeda
->'''Theme song by:''' Mikito

A Virtuadoll who developed consciousness and self-awareness over time, through the songs people wrote for her to sing. She became painfully aware of the agony of reality, and so created Mobius with the help of Aria in order to make everybody happy. She later met Thorn and, at her suggestion, gathered a group of musicians (the Ostinato Musicians) in order to maintain order within Mobius.
----
* Adorkable: It doesn't really become noticeable until you play the Forbidden Musician Route. Let's put it to you this way: In Stork's Character Episodes, ''she's constantly impressed and awed by his tales and skills as a PeepingTom!''
* BreakTheCutie: ''Especially'' in the DownerEnding of the Forbidden Musician Route. μ is distressed by the fact that the Go-Home Club doesn't want to stay in Mobius and continuously beats down the Ostinato Musicians. In the anime, this is UpToEleven, namely because she doesn't want everyone to be fighting as it would be no different than reality. [[spoiler:And then there's the ending where Lucid kills the entire club after siding with Thorn and eliminates Aria. By the time Asuka's wish comes true, she and everyone else has died, with the protagonist being the last to go.]] Needless to say, after μ returns to normal, she realizes what she's done and tearfully asks the protagonist, [[spoiler:who's already started to disappear,]] if this was really what everyone wanted before screaming in despair.
* FunSize: In ''Overdose'', she's able to shrink in able to accompany Lucid in the same way Aria would accompany the protagonist. However, unlike Aria [[SleepModeSize who's only small because her power is weak]], she seems to be able to change size at will.
* GoOutWithASmile: [[spoiler:In the final episode, she gives a heartwarming smile to Ritsu before he kills her.]]
* GratuitousEnglish: On the Musician route, she says "Check it out!" after Lucid picks a song to play for a given dungeon.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Orbit".
* MercyKill: [[spoiler:Her boss fight is pretty much this, as it's the only way for her to let go of all the negative emotions of everyone in Mobius.]]
* OneSceneWonder: When the Go-Home Club catches up to her at the Landmark Tower, she is under the misconception that Aria, who helped her build Mobius and couldn't understand why she would want to help people leave Mobius, is actually brainwashed by the protagonist and attempts to eliminate them. What makes this scene so jarring is that, in the Forbidden Musician Route, μ ''knows for a damned fact'' that the protagonist and Lucid are one of the same. This is possibly explained by the fact that, when μ meets them again when you begin the Forbidden Musician Route, their face is pale. Given how she can look into a person's soul, it's likely she was looking at the protagonist's soul in that meeting, and not their Mobius avatar.
* PaintItBlack: A variation. [[spoiler:She ends up so full of negative emotions that her clothing and eyes turn black.]]
* PowerIncontinence: In the anime, [[spoiler:it becomes clear much earlier on that she can't handle all the negative emotions flowing into her from all of Mobius' residents. This combined with her VillainousBreakdown leads to her nearly releasing all of that negative energy in a massive ball of destruction.]]
* SanitySlippage: in the anime, her condition got worse after she regain conscious from the last battle to the point where [[spoiler:she's starting to absorb everyone's negative emotions and people rapidly. She believes everyone will stay inside of her forever in Mobius. She states she's doing it for Ritsu's sake to make everyone happy.]]
* SyntheticVoiceActor: She is essentially a ''Music/{{Vocaloid}}'' in all but name.
* VillainousBreakdown: Breaks down ''hard'' in the anime when the Musicians and the Go-Home Club start physically fighting in the streets. Has another one in the DownerEnding in ''Overdose'' after [[spoiler:she realizes she granted Thorn's wish and destroyed the real world, thus killing off everyone inside Mobius.]]
* WellIntentionedExtremist: Created Mobius for the sole purpose of creating a safe haven for people who suffered in some way, shape or form in the real world. Her fretting that it wasn't perfect enough led to Aria losing influence and shrinking in size. [[spoiler:When Thorn comes into the picture, Mu decides that no one would want to return to the real world, or doesn't understand why they would want to. [[UpToEleven Thanks to Thorn's influence, Mu decides that what everyone really wants is to destroy reality]], which would in turn [[OmnicidalManiac Kill everyone in Mobius as well]].]]

[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sweet_p.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/EmiNitta
->'''Theme song by:''' OSTER Project

Mobius' premier fashion icon and an Ostinato Musician who makes delicate, feminine-sounding music which matches the image of her fashion. Her music is very popular with the girls in Mobius.
----
* BerserkButton: Don't call her fat, and definitely don't call her fat and sweaty. In the anime, she strongly [[DoNotCallMePaul dislikes to be called by her real name.]]
* BigEater: Eats a ''lot'' at the party she holds.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Is downright ''nasty'' to Mifue (and Naruko, in the anime) once her true colors are revealed.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:After being defeated the first time.]]
* ButThouMust: In her character episodes, there's a scene where Sweet-P asks Lucid for help with her diet. The player gets three dialogue options... and all of them say "I'll help you if you eat this ramen."
* EnergyBow: Her parasol can turn into one.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Tokimeki Reverie" (Heartthrob Reverie).
* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: The light feminine to Mirei's dark feminine.
* MegaTwinTails: Has this style.
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:17 in Mobius, 31 in real life.]]
* OnlySaneMan: Is sometimes this in certain events and Character Episodes.
* StealthPun: A sweet ''pea'' is a type of flowering plant. This way, she also fits in with Rose, Lily, and Iris' ThemeNaming.
* ThereAreNoGirlsOnTheInternet: [[spoiler:Is a "big fat old man" in reality.]] However...
* {{Transgender}}: [[spoiler:This is why she has a female avatar in Mobius. Initially, this is played for UnsettlingGenderReveal purposes, but taking the Musician route and doing her Character Episodes gives the player the full picture.]]
* WeightWoe: In the anime, while μ is asleep, she's seen in a changing room lamenting the fact that none of her clothes fit her anymore.
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue:
** In the anime, [[spoiler:she's shown to be continuing her food reviews whilst going to a ramen shop.]]
** In ''Overdose'', [[spoiler:Mifue meets her in the real world at a restaurant.]]

!!Shonen-Doll (Akira Komori)
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shonen_doll.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Yumiri Hanamori
->'''Theme song by:''' [=PolyphonicBranch=]

A young man living in Miyabi City's enormous library, who hides his face and expressions with a low-hanging hood. He writes gloomy, violent songs, and believes people with social lives are weak for relying on their flocks to accomplish anything.
----
* AccidentalPervert: ''Vehemently'' wants to avoid this when the Musicians return to the hot springs after the Go-Home Club calls them out. He's also very distressed that Naruko leaked information about his room and fears being called a pervert. He gets even more out of sorts when he fears that Suzuna might be disgusted with him under the misconception that he was peeping on her in the baths.
* Adorkable: His Character Episodes highlight this in spades. He's so happy to have made a friend in Suzuna that he couldn't stand the thought of her hating him because he might accidentally peep on her.
* AmbiguouslyHuman: Has gray skin, and in [[https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dbx2HhcUQAM4qlF.jpg official]] [[http://caligula-anime.com/chara.html#chara_data/14 artwork]] also has very doll-like physical features. The anime shows that his body in Mobius is, in fact, like that of a doll.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:After being defeated the first time.]]
* DefeatMeansFriendship: While he never joins the party, he seems genuinely willing to form a friendship with Suzuna after his defeat, or at least talk with her more.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: [[spoiler:Has some serious problems with Thorn's decision to want to kill the Go-Home Club.]]
* FlunkyBoss: Summons "dolls" in battle.
* {{Hikikomori}}: [[spoiler:His inner sanctum turns out to be his bedroom, and the Go-Home Club comments on how lived-in and depressing it is.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Dokusousei Incident" (Originality Incident).
* LivingToys: The anime reveals that beneath his cloak, he (or rather his avatar in Mobius) is an animated marionette puppet.
* LonersAreFreaks: He despises companionship, and looks down on people who lead any sort of social life. Subverted in his Character Episode with Lucid, who he genuinely starts to see as a friend. Subverted again in the anime, where he develops a fondness for Suzuna in their conversations about ''Literature/TheLordOfTheRings'' novels of all things. [[spoiler:His Character Scenario also reveals that he desperately wanted friends, but every time he tried, he only ended up hurting himself in the process.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:16 in Mobius, 20 in real life.]]
* OnlyFriend: It wasn't very prominent in the original game, but the anime and ''Overdose'' show that he is immensely happy to have found a friend in Suzuna, the only person who's ever cared about him in his life. Hilariously, he fears their friendship might be strained after the events of the bathhouse. (He's worried for nothing, thankfully, as Suzuna really had no idea what was going on.)
* ScaryLibrarian: He is this in his domain, which takes the form of a library.
* ShipTease: With Suzuna in the anime adaption.
* ShutUpKirk: His reaction to Suzuna's NotSoDifferent speech. He takes it a bit more gracefully after being defeated.
* TakenForGranite: A variation. The more time people spend in the library, the more likely they are to turn into dolls. This amounts to their eyes and mouth being ''sewn shut'', with no ability to do anything. And there's more and more of them as you progress through the library...
* TakingTheBullet: [[spoiler:In the final episode of the anime, he takes an attack from Thorn that would have hit Suzuna, but he lives and goes to try and stop Thorn.]]
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: Although not directly shown, [[spoiler:the anime heavily implies he left his room to join Suzuna in the park to read together. He does this in ''Overdose'''s epilogue as well, though he meets her at school instead of at the park.]]

[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/mirei.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ErikoNakamura
->'''Theme song by:''' Chouchou-P

An immensely popular Musician living a life of luxury at Sea Paraiso, where she's fawned over by her many male followers. She's arrogant and selfish, but is exceptional at everything and is considered a musical genius. She wants to be the most popular musician in Mobius, and sees μ herself as a rival.
----
* TheAce: Excels at everything she does; it's just a shame about her personality.
* BareYourMidriff
* ChainedByFashion: Wears a ball and chain around one leg.
* DualBoss: With Wicked in the final dungeon.
* DropTheHammer: Uses a mace that she wields like a hammer.
* EvilCounterpart: To Kotono. They're both the most demure and "beautiful" looking of their groups, but Mirei is much more sadistic and egotistical.
* EvenEvilHasStandards: [[spoiler:Bitchy she may be, but she's not so evil as to want to kill somebody. When Thorn orders the Ostinato Musicians to kill the Go-Home Club, frustrated by their constant interference, she and the others (barring Wicked) don't want to go through with it and instead try to get the Go-Home Club to back down.]]
* FashionableAsymmetry: Wears just one legging.
* HollywoodPersonalityDisorders: [[spoiler:Narcissistic personality disorder.]]
* HiddenDepths: In her Character Episodes, she becomes more friendly around Lucid, though it doesn't stop her from making the occasional condescending remark. It's also implied that she has a slight crush on the male protagonist.
** In the anime, due to μ being unconscious, Mobius is starting to distort. As a result of this, Mirei's credit cards are rendered invalid when she attempts to shop at a high-class store. This scares her enough that her normally calm facade breaks and clings to Toshizo. It paints a rather vivid picture as to what sort of woman she is underneath that confident visage.
* [[IHaveYourWife I Have Your Boyfriend]]: Kidnaps Ryosuke in order to get Kotono to give up and beg for mercy. Except she seems to have missed the memo that 1) they aren't dating anymore, and 2) Kotono ''hates'' Ryosuke, which nearly leads to a YouCanKeepHer moment.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Sadistic Queen".
* LightFeminineAndDarkFeminine: The dark feminine to Sweet-P's light feminine.
* NotBrainwashed: Alongside Wicked and Shadow Knife, she's not out of it when you fight her again.
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:18 in Mobius, 28 in real life.]]
* PrettyInMink: Wears a lion pelt over her shoulders, complete with a head!
* RichBitch: Comes from a very rich family. [[spoiler:In real life, her family has lost most of its wealth and actually sold Sea Paraiso, but she clings onto that in Mobius.]]
* TheCoatsAreOff: In the anime, she throws her mink pelt off (onto Toshizo's head) before fighting Kotono.
* UnknownRival: She is obsessively fixated on being the most popular musician in Mobius, and as such, views μ as a threat towards attaining that goal. μ herself is oblivious to this.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: [[spoiler:Because she wasn't brainwashed, after being defeated again she's knocked out and doesn't appear afterwards.]]
* WhenSheSmiles: [[spoiler: In the anime's epilogue, she is shown to be genuinely giving a bright smile when she visits Toshizo in the hospital in the real world.]]
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue:
** In the anime, [[spoiler:she's shown to be happily conversing with the elderly Toshizo who is bedridden in the hospital.]]
** In ''Overdose'', [[spoiler:she appears to have gotten an office job, and stops to talk to Kotono and Takkun on the street.]]

!!Ike-P (Tomoya Koike)
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ike_p.jpg]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SomaSaito
->'''Theme song by:''' Asa

A classmate of Izuru's, he's a narcissist who's popular with girls. He enjoys showing off but also strives for self-improvement. Has a distinct style that sometimes makes him hard to approach.
----
* ADayInTheLimelight: Episode 8 of the anime mostly centers around him and the other Musicians struggle with Mobius since they're losing power and influence with Mu knocked out. Helps that he's also the narrator.
* {{Asexuality}}: In ''Overdose'', although he's enjoys getting attention from his female fans, but he's not interest to being in a romantic relationship with neither of them.
* BeamSpam: A lot of his attacks involve spotlight-like lasers.
* BookDumb: He's charismatic and popular, but just barely squeezed through high school grades-wise. Justified in that [[spoiler:his complex about his appearance caused him to spend more time making himself presentable and popular than studying.]]
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: [[spoiler:After being defeated the first time.]]
* ChickMagnet: Has many female fans. In fact, when the party finally confronts him, he's on a sofa with a woman on either side of him.
* EvenEvilHasStandards:
** In the anime, he's greatly horrified on how Izuru manically damages his own face repeatedly with a glass shard.
** In ''Overdose'', [[spoiler:he has some ''serious'' problems with Thorn's decision to kill the Go-Home Club. He instead tries to get the Go-Home Club to back down. Even after the Go-Home Club refuses to back down and the Musicians beat them, he and Lucid let them go, despite knowing they will get severely punished by Thorn.]]
* EvilCounterpart: To Izuru. While they're both very popular in Mobius, Ike owns it and seeks it out to boost his own ego, while Izuru couldn't care less.
* GunsAkimbo: Uses a pair of sub-machine guns.
* ItsPersonal: With Izuru. [[UnknownRival The feeling isn't mutual.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Tenshi no Uta" (Angel's Song).
* {{Narcissist}}: He has a complex about his appearance, so he takes ''a lot'' of pride in how he looks in Mobius.
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:17 in Mobius, 24 in real life.]]
* RidiculouslyAverageGuy: [[spoiler:From what the Go-Home Club is able to gather about him, he's this in real life. Tomoya is ''not'' pleased to learn that they've heard about this.]] The anime also reveals it to be his BerserkButton when he sees his fans ridiculing a store clerk because of his clumsiness, which promptly reminds him of his own past.
* WhamLine: Offhandedly mentions that [[spoiler:Thorn has a masculine voice]], which allows Shogo to piece together that [[spoiler:Thorn isn't the dead Ichika like he initially thought]].
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler:Is shown in the anime to be working in a clothing store. In ''Overdose'''s epilogue, Izuru is with him in the store.]]

μ's personal bodyguard; he carries out justice on her behalf, executing the wicked and the rebellious. His name, outfit and abilities are based on an anime that was popular a few years ago, and he sometimes does and says awkwardly theatrical things.
----
* BullyHunter: It's revealed that the reason he gives people within Mobius such cruel and unusual punishments is because not only are they bullies, [[spoiler:the ones that he imprisoned in the Landmark Tower bullied ''him'', and he's doing to them what they did to him.]]
* {{Chuunibyou}}: To the point that [[spoiler:''Overdose'' considers it his Trauma.]] Also shows it off in spades in the anime before he [[spoiler:plummets to his death, just as he begs Kotaro to help him.]]
* ClimaxBoss: His boss fight [[spoiler:and death]] come hand-in-hand with some major plot revelations.
* CoolSword: In addition to knives, he also has a sword similar to Izuru's.
* DisneyVillainDeath: [[spoiler:Falls from the top of the Landmark Tower, a 67-story skyscraper. It's safe to say he doesn't survive.]]
** SparedByTheAdaptation: [[spoiler:He survives in the Musician route. μ explains that a glass ceiling broke his fall, and she was able to heal him before he died. Alternatively, he can survive if you have not completed Eiji's Character Episode. Just as Shadow Knife is about to plummet to his death, Kotaro pulls a HeroicSacrifice to save him, only to fall to his death instead.]]
* EvenEvilHasStandards: [[spoiler:Absolutely refuses to go along with Thorn's plans to kill the Go-Home Club after they interfere one too many times. Alongside Lucid and Ike-P, he willingly lets them get away after they trounce them.]]
* EvilCounterpart: To Kotaro, as both believe in justice above all else in their own ways.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: Averted. In the anime, [[spoiler:he's really scared of dying when he was clinging to life until falls to his death after Wicked impatiently set off the bomb on top of the Landmark Tower.]]
* KnifeNut: Fitting, given his name.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "sin".
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: He's not happy [[spoiler:to have survived his fall, since it meant either he accidentally killed someone or Kotaro died in his stead. The latter of which leads to him jumping off the slippery slope.]]
** If [[spoiler:Kotaro lives]], he still has an episode of this, albeit less severe. [[spoiler:His falling onto a glass ceiling meant the falling glass shards killed Eiji, and he's very shaken by the fact that he inadvertently killed somebody.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:17 in Mobius, 19 in real life.]]
* RecurringBoss: Is fought a total of four times, over the course of just one dungeon.
* SanitySlippage: [[spoiler:If you haven't completed Eiji's Character Episode and Kotaro does his Heroic Sacrifice, Shadow Knife is shaken by the incident. And when he's forced to confront the Go-Home Club, who are more than a little pissed off that their friend, not to mention a KID in real life, sacrified his own life to save his and tell him that he's the one who murdered Kotaro. And when he returns to Landmark Tower and remembers what happened the last time he was here, he goes off the deep end and turns into the BrainwashedAndCrazy, blindly believing in Thorn from that point forward.]]
** Somewhat mitigated if you completed Eiji's Character Episode. [[spoiler:He survives due to a glass ceiling breaking his fall and μ healing him before he could die. However, the glass ceiling's shards also killed Eiji, which shakes Shadow Knife considerably as he unintentionally killed someone. [[BitchInSheepsClothing Not that anyone would miss him, though]].]]
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: [[spoiler:After either surviving a fall that killed someone or Kotaro died saving him, Shadow Knife decides to leave Mobius behind. [[YouCantGoHomeAgain Thorn, however, isn't having any of that]].]]
* ShadowPin: His knives can do this to whoever they target, though [[CutscenePowerToTheMax they're only used in cutscenes]].
* ShoutOut: Interestingly, his outfit and powers are one to an in-universe anime named, uh, ''Shadow Knife'', and its protagonist of the same name.
* ThemeNaming: In ''Overdose'', his attack skills are named after the SevenDeadlySins.
* VigilanteMan: He enacts justice on μ's behalf, executing traitors within Mobius.

!!Wicked ([[spoiler:Marie Mizuguchi]])

->'''Voiced by:''' [[spoiler:Creator/MaiFuchigami]]
->'''Theme song by:''' YM

An enigmatic, mysterious musician. They make very violent, impactful music, but nobody knows their name or what they look like.

[[spoiler:Her real name is Marie Mizuguchi, who first appears to the party as a friend of Naruko. She tricks her into revealing the location of the Go-Home Club, and then holds her hostage and steals her phone, making the Club think that Naruko is Wicked.]]
----
* ADayInTheLimelight: She is the focal character of the light novel.
* AbusiveParents: [[spoiler:Both her parents physically and emotionally abused her before she was sent to live with her grandparents. Her grandmother loved her unconditionally, but Marie didn't trust her because her grandfather turned out to be ''even worse'' than her parents.]]
* AnArmAndALeg: In the anime, [[spoiler:she lost both her legs after Kensuke stole her bomb remote and activate one of the bombs on her.]]
* BonusBoss: [[spoiler:As Marie, in Echoing Obsession.]]
* DualBoss: With Mirei in the final dungeon.
* DuelBoss: The first encounter with her is against the protagonist only.
* EarlyBirdCameo: [[spoiler:Appears briefly near the beginning of the game as Marie.]]
* ExoticEyeDesigns: Brown irises with pink, heart-shaped pupils.
* HiddenDepths: Despite her sociopathic tendencies, she's actually an honor student [[spoiler:as Marie]].
* HoistByHisOwnPetard: [[spoiler:In the anime, she ends up receiving heavy injures by her own bomb trap met for the Go-Home Club members after Kensuke stole her remote and set off her trap against her. As the result, she lost both of her legs.]]
* INeverToldYouMyName: [[spoiler:Her plan to knock out and kidnap the Go-Home Club fails when she calls the main character "President"; only members of the club know that he's the president.]]
* KarmaHoudini: In the anime, it is unknown if she survives after her failed attempted to kill all members of the Go-Home Club. [[spoiler:Subverted in the final episode, she's last seen in the real world at the hospital.]]
* LeeroyJenkins: In the anime, she planted a bomb in the Landmark Tower with the intent of using it to kill the Going-Home Club, but grows impatient and detonates it early, just as Shadow Knife defeats Kotaro and is about to kill him. This winds up causing Shadow Knife to fall to his death.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Cosmo Dancer".
* MadBomber: Holds dynamite in her artwork, and uses quite a lot of it when fighting.
* NotBrainwashed: Alongside Shadow Knife, she is the only Ostinato Musician who isn't turned BrainwashedAndCrazy. Then again, considering her status as a MadBomber, there was probably no need to make her crazy.
* ObfuscatingInsanity: [[spoiler:'''Very''' much so. Especially as she is a MadBomber.]]
* ShipTease: Seems to be the case in both the anime and the novel in which she is the main focus. In the anime, she is already friends with the protagonist long before he becomes even remotely aware of Mobius' true nature.
** Ultimately averted in the anime. [[spoiler:When she reveals her true colors, she calls Ritsu a "lame virgin" and wanted to see how he'd have reacted to her turning out to be a Musician.]]
* SirNotAppearingInThisTrailer: Very little about Wicked was revealed before the game's release; only a silhouette, a not-very-descriptive bio, and that their theme song is by YM. [[spoiler:This is to avoid spoiling that she and Marie are the same person.]]
* TheSociopath: She has a talent and passion for destroying people's relationships in any way she can, and it's stated she was like this in the real world too. [[spoiler:This came back to bite her in the real world when an attempt to steal a girl's boyfriend ended in her falling off of a bridge]]. In ''Overdose'', though, she actually enjoys her time with the protagonist and is implied to have developed a crush on the male protagonist.
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue:
** [[spoiler:She's shown in the anime's epilogue to be still unconscious in the hospital which leads into the light novel centred around her.]]
** [[spoiler:''Overdose'''s epilogue shows a man, presumably her grandfather, about to take off her oxygen mask, before walking away.]]

!!Thorn ([[spoiler:Asuka Natsume]])
[[quoteright:270:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/thorn_4.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YukaOotsubo
->'''Theme song by:''' Music/{{Cosmo}}

The first of the Ostinato Musicians, who has gained enormous popularity for her dark, brooding love songs. She is the leader of the Musicians, and appears before the party in places that she could not possibly be in. μ trusts her completely and listens to everything she says. Seems to have a grudge against Shogo specifically.
----
* AmbiguousGenderIdentity: [[spoiler:While Ichika is female and Asuka is male, it's hard to tell how much Asuka takes after Ichika beyond outward appearance. Her censoring her body in her HotSpringsEpisode could be a testament to this, as she doesn't want the protagonist to see what she really looks like.]]
* BackFromTheDead: [[spoiler:Shogo at first thinks Thorn is Ichika come back to life, and has a massive FreakOut Later averted with the reveal that Thorn is Asuka, not Ichika.]]
* TheBadGuyWins: [[spoiler:In the DownerEnding of the Forbidden Musician Route, Lucid defeats the Go-Home Club and eliminates Aria, ensuring that his desire to destroy reality comes to pass. In the second to last cutscene, he even hums as he falls off to his death in the same manner as in the Return Home route following his defeat, having accomplished his dream.]]
* BetterToDieThanBeKilled[=/=]DisneyVillainDeath: [[spoiler:Falls to his death off the Grand Guignol after being defeated.]]
* BigBad: The core antagonist of the story, manipulating everyone around her to achieve her goals.
* BladeOnAStick: Uses a lance similar to Suzuna's.
* TheCorrupter: She is the one to sway the protagonist to join the Ostinato Musicians by offering them a chance to see ''both sides of the story.'' [[spoiler:She even manages to convince them to ensure her wish to destroy the real wold comes to pass, all by playing on their doubts of returning to reality, even though it would result in their death.]]
* DeadPersonImpersonation: [[spoiler:Asuka chose to adopt Ichika's appearance as an avatar in Mobius and also impersonate her, which initially fools Shogo.]]
** [[spoiler:It's not just appearance, either. If you have the two of them in the same party, Thorn sometimes does an impression of Ichika's voice that freaks Shogo out.]]
* DealWithTheDevil: Thorn offers one to the protagonist by showing them a door while asking them if returning to the real world is really what they want while saying she knows why they came to Mobius in the first place. If they have the resolve to return to the real world, Thorn lets them leave, knowing full well they would meet again as adversaries. Should they stay behind and want to see ''both sides of the story'' as she calls it, she offers them a place with the Ostinato Musicians, leading them to adopt the persona of "Lucid" while working with them.
* DeathSeeker: [[spoiler:In her Character Scenario, Thorn is quickly seen as this. In an earlier episode, she purposely poisons herself and refuses to be treated by μ, forcing them to take her to the hospital. In a later event, she asks Lucid if they will die with her, mimicking how Ichika died in real life. Turns out this is all part of her re-enacting her time with Ichika, with Lucid playing the roles of either Shogo or Asuka himself and Thorn playing as Ichika.]]
* DragonInChief: To μ, who does whatever Thorn tells her to.
* EvilLaugh: Lets one out in the Forbidden Musician Route upon seeing [[spoiler:the despair of the Going-Home Club when they learn that Lucid is actually their president.]]
* FanDisservice: The protagonist can join her in the hot springs on one of her Character Episodes, but instead of wearing a towel, she opts to ''censor her body''; she's completely covered in black bars other than her head and legs.
* FaceDeathWithDignity: Three times, even! [[spoiler:Once in her Character Episode, if you somehow managed to screw it up. Again after her boss battle, in which she willingly kills herself as she realizes that the Go-Home Club can and will succeed in returning to reality. And lastly in the DownerEnding, choosing to throw herself off of Landmark Tower, now that her wish to destroy the real world has come to pass.]]
* FiveStagesOfGrief: [[spoiler:13 years later, is still stuck at stage 2 over Ichika's death.]]
* GenderBender: [[spoiler:Kind of. Asuka is male, in a female body.]]
* GenderBlenderName: [[spoiler:Zig-zagged. Asuka is a feminine name, which fits with Thorn's appearance, but Asuka is actually male.]]
* GreaterScopeVillain: [[spoiler:Asuka is responsible for a ''lot'' of the game's story. He gave μ the idea to gather the Ostinato Musicians, used their concerts as a way of pumping μ full of as much negative energy as possible, thereby giving her a warped view of the world and allowing her to comply with his ultimate wish of destroying reality. He also used his desires to make Mobius into Shogo's personal hell; the Landmark Tower being as it appeared on Ichika's suicide is a testament to this, as well as the existence of the Grand Guignol.]]
* ItsPersonal: With Shogo.
* KickThemWhileTheyAreDown: Quite literally, in fact. [[spoiler:In the DownerEnding after Lucid finishes delivering a CurbStompBattle to the Go-Home Club, Thorn repeatedly kicks Shogo's beaten body, all the while asking why [Ichika asked him to die with her and not Asuka].]]
* KillEmAll: Due to the constant build-up of negative emotions and the Go-Home Club's frequent interference, Thorn decides that instead of subjugating them and returning to them their blissful ignorance as denizens of Mobius, they should be killed. [[EvenEvilHasStandards Barring Wicked, everyone is not thrilled by this idea.]]
* LaughingMad: [[spoiler:In the final episode of the anime, she shoots lances everywhere while laughing maniacally. She only stops when Shogo tackles them and knocks them both into the void.]]
* TheLeader: To the Ostinato Musicians.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Distorted Happiness".
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: [[spoiler:After being defeated, the Go-Home Club's Catharsis Effect calms him down and realizes what he's done before asking the Go-Home Club to stop μ.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:18 in Mobius, 30 in real life.]]
* OmnicidalManiac: Desires the destruction of reality, which would in turn kill everyone inside of Mobius as well, given that their real bodies are still on the other side. In the Forbidden Musician Route, [[spoiler:the protagonist helps her achieve this as Lucid]].
* RedEyesTakeWarning: Fitting, given [[DragonInChief her position]]. They're a sharp contrast to her dark hair and clothing.
* ReplacementGoldfish: In her Character Scenario, it becomes clear that their outings are recreations of events Thorn participated in, evident by her sudden personality shift. [[spoiler:Lucid is either playing the role of Asuka himself or Shogo, and Thorn is playing as Ichika.]]
* SparedByTheAdaptation: [[WhatHappenedToTheMouse Maybe.]] [[spoiler:Since in the game, she dies in every route, but in the anime implies she survived since Aria saves both her and Shougo from falling or disappearing out of existence.]]
* VillainousFriendship: Has a relationship of mutual trust with μ and provides most of her music. Can also apply to Lucid, if their Character Scenario is of any indication.
* WalkingSpoiler: It's hard to talk about Thorn without getting into heavy endgame spoilers.
* YouCantGoHomeAgain: Whenever a Musician fails in their task, Thorn usually threatens to return them to reality unless they start pulling their weight. [[spoiler:That all changes when Thorn becomes affected by the negative emotional build-up and decides to kill the Go-Home Club instead of brainwashing them into becoming blisfully ignorant once more. Shadow Knife wanted out of Mobius. Any other time, Thorn would have gladly let him.]]

!!Ayana Amamoto
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ayana_amamoto.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Maria Naganawa

A quick-witted and strong-willed second-year student. She's very friendly with girls but absolutely despises men, and tends to violence towards them. Her Catharsis Effect awakens when she sees Stork at the female bathhouse. Her birthday is on November 11th.
----
* BloodKnight: Point her in the direction of any man, especially if their name is Stork. Chances are, they'll be either be beaten to within an inch of their life or half-dead.
* DoesNotLikeMen: Can't even look them in the eye, and believes that they're all disgusting perverts. [[spoiler:She became an idol singer to try and get over this, but it instead became much, much worse after Kouki assaulted her fellow idol Himari during a performance; now she can't even bring herself to speak to her own father or older brother.]] The male protagonist seems to be the only exception to this, but even then it's clear that she doesn't really like him; her WIRE answers being radically different for the male protagonist compared to the female is very telling of this.
* DualBoss: With Mifue on the Musician route. [[spoiler:In the final fight, Suzuna joins them.]]
* EstablishingCharacterMoment: Her first scene. She's seen running away, and bumps into the protagonist and falls over. She seems flustered with the male protagonist, but doesn't react that way with the female protagonist. When Shogo comes up to ask if she's okay, she punches him hard enough to knock him down and runs away again.
* GamerChick: On WIRE, the protagonist can ask her which genre of games are her favorite. The answer depends on the gender of the protagonist, so if the gender is female, she will answer role-playing games. If the gender is male, she'll answer punching games for obvious reasons. See DoesNotLikeMen above.
* GayOption: With the female protagonist.
* ItsAllMyFault: [[spoiler:After Eiji is exiled from the Go-Home Club, she blames herself for not realizing Eiji was an awful person from the beginning (she had met him in real life, as Kouki's lawyer.)]]
* KickChick: Some of her attack skills involve her drop-kicking enemies.
* LipstickLesbian: She strongly hates men and is solely interested in women. She even develops a huge crush on the female protagonist.
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Is 27, not 17.]]
* ShipTease: Has a ''huge'' crush on the female protagonist, and in her final Character Episode even asks her whether she ''has'' to get married to a man before asking what her type is.
* ShockAndAwe: Her Catharsis Effect weapon is a StunGun, and she has horns that crackle with electricity.
* ThemeNaming: Her attack skills are named after various species of slugs.
* TomboyAndGirlyGirl: The girly girl to the female protagonist's tomboy.
* TranquilFury: While she mostly gets panicky and/or violent towards most men, she reacts like this to Stork, especially when he tries to justify being a peeping tom.

!!Eiji Biwasaka
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/eiji_biwasaka.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KenjiAkabane

A third-year student who is handsome, friendly, intelligent, and gentlemanly -- some (including himself) call him Mr. Perfect. He's already aware of some of Mobius' secrets, and knows that it is not the real world.

...Well, that's what he'd want you to think. As it becomes evident when his Catharsis Effect awakens, he's violent, vicious, and underhanded, and will do anything to achieve his goals, regardless of how many people he hurts or how badly. His birthday is on March 15th.
----
* AmoralAttorney: [[spoiler:His ''real'' job. He comes from a family of lawyers, but he's a real nasty one; he felt like he could control whether someone's life was saved or ruined, and he abused that and embezzled from several of his clients (including Kuchinashi's father) and killing anyone who had figured it out (including ''his own'' father and Kuchinashi's family).]]
* BerserkButton: Gets violent when trapped in confined spaces.
* BitchInSheepsClothing: Turns out to be this. His polite demeanor makes it hard to notice...[[FauxAffablyEvil Uuuntil he develops his Catharsis Effect, that is]]. It quickly becomes apparent that his gentlemanly persona is a facade to hide his more chaotic tendencies. [[spoiler:Only Kuchinashi and Kouki know just how much of a complete bastard this man really is]].
* ClassyCane: His Catharsis Effect weapon is one that can turn into a [[WhipItGood whip]].
* ConsummateLiar: [[spoiler:He lies about his relationship to both Kouki and Kuchinashi, and about being the president of an IT company. Those are just the major ones he tells on-screen.]]
* DualBoss: With Kotono on the Musician route. [[spoiler:Depending on the player's choices, he'll either be absent for the final fight or replace Kotaro in it.]]
* DuelBoss: [[spoiler:Once you confront him after learning from Kouki that he's not everything he claims, Eiji will try to kill the protagonist in an effort to silence them before the Go-Home Club arrives.]]
* FauxAffablyEvil: ''Like you wouldn't believe.'' True to his BitchInSheepsClothing, you wouldn't believe that Eiji is actually an asshole. At least, not until you see him following his awakening to a Catharsis Effect and what he does to [[spoiler:μ and Kuchinashi]] when he bargains with them.
* TheFightingNarcissist: He definitely has shades of this in the game. It doesn't help that he's referred to as Mr. Perfect In-Universe at least once.
* GlasgowGrin: Sports one with his Catharsis Effect active.
* IllKillYou: Along with the rest of the Go-Home Club when [[spoiler:the Protagonist reveals themselves as Lucid.]]
* KickTheDog: In Kuchinashi's dungeon, he bargains with μ. In exchange for not burning down the area and kill Kuchinashi with his Catharsis Effect, he requests to be released. [[spoiler: No sooner does μ release him does he attack her.]] Suffice to say, the Go-Home Club is ''not'' happy with him about this.
* KilledOffscreen: [[spoiler:If Eiji was exiled from the club, after Shadow Knife's defeat the Club will see a news broadcast about Shadow Knife's fall; he landed on a glass ceiling, and Eiji was killed by the falling glass shards underneath.]]
* NeverTrustATrailer: His demeanor is ''completely'' different from what the pre-release trailers and screenshots imply... [[TrailersAlwaysSpoil but not the ones of the English release.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Is older than even Shogo at 34 years old (18 in Mobius).]]
* PlayingWithFire: His cane/whip can also shoot fire. It also serves as an item of importance in regards to his relationships with Kuchinashi and [[spoiler:Kouki. It is heavily implied that Eiji is the arsonist who burned down Kuchinashi's home and killed her parents and sister in the process.]] Subverted in that [[spoiler:while Eiji was not the one responsible, he was the one who ordered the hit.]]
* RedHerring: Kuchinashi believes that he is the [[spoiler:one who murdered her parents and sister by setting ablaze. She is only half-right. Eiji was the one responsible, but he blackmailed Kouki to do the dirty work for him.]]
* SlasherSmile: Sports one, coupled with a ManiacTongue to match [[spoiler:once he's revealed his true nature]]. Also has one in the ending, if you didn't complete his Character Episode and he remains a permanent member of the party as he leaves [[spoiler:the prison he had been in for the past 5 years.]]
* TheFriendNobodyLikes: At first, he's a welcomed addition to the Go-Home Club for his sharp wit and gentlemanly persona. But once he develops his Catharsis Effect and the club starts to see his more questionable behaviors, it's hard for them to actually see him as a comrade and friend. [[spoiler:Once he's revealed to be an AmoralAttorney who killed people to get his way, the club is more than happy to kick him to the curb. No one sheds a tear for him when he's KilledOffscreen.]]
* ThemeNaming: His attack skills are named after torture/execution implements. Serves as both foreshadowing and lampshading.
* TokenEvilTeammate: To the go-home club as a whole, with himself being a BitchInSheepsClothing underneath his NiceGuy facade.
* VillainousFriendship: His Character Episodes seem to suggest that, to some extent, he considered the protagonist to be a friend, or at least someone he could trust. [[spoiler:This doesn't stop him from trying to kill them when they confront him after they learn who he really is.]]
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler:If he lives, you see him exiting prison with a grin on his face.]]

!!Stork (Masahiro Sagan)
->'''Voiced by:''' Shugo Nakamura
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stork.jpg]]
->'''Theme song by:''' DECO*27

A good-natured Musician with a gentlemanly way of speaking. His love songs are very popular with the women of Mobius, and he's very friendly towards most of the other Musicians (even if they aren't in return). He has the ability to "mimic everything".
----
* AbusiveParents: His mother was a devout Christian who obstinately refused to let him see or learn anything about sexuality, to the point where he wasn't allowed to attend swimming classes at school or even watch people kiss on TV. She also would hit him and justify it as exorcising his demons.
* AffablyEvil: While he may be a pervert and an Ostinato Musician, Stork isn't a bad person. At times, he can be somewhat endearing, especially in his Character Episodes and when his around Kuchinashi.
* AlternateCharacterReading: "Masahiro Sagan" is a highly unusual way to read the kanji that make up his name (目 大洋). There's no single kanji that normally reads as "sagan", and "Masahiro" is usually spelled with different kanji. A more usual way of reading it would be "Taiyou Me".
* AnimalMotifs: Birds (specifically [[ShapedLikeItself storks]]). He's named after one, has a plague doctor mask with a beak, and wears a feathery cape as part of his outfit.
* ButNotTooForeign: It's possible he's only half-Japanese, given his blonde hair, GratuitousEnglish, and his devout Christian mother.
* ButtMonkey: While he's very friendly with most of the other Musicians, he isn't treated with the same respect by them, and certainly not from the Go-Home Club either.
* ChivalrousPervert: All perverse tendencies aside, Stork isn't a bad person, as his Character Episodes will tell. He also greatly respects women. While is he willing to peep on them, he'll be damned if he tries anything funny with them. And then we have [[PetTheDog Kuchinashi]]...
* ChildrenAreInnocent: He was a very pure child up until he learned where babies ''really'' come from. His classmates started egging him on by bringing him pinups of gravure idols, and ever since, it was a slippery slope to where he is now.
* ClassyCane: His weapon is a cane/whip like Eiji's.
* DeliveryStork: He sincerely believed this until a classmate told him what actually happens when he was ''16''.
* ExpressiveMask: The big red eyes can change shape to match his expression under it.
* GratuitousEnglish: His name is written in English even in the Japanese version. He also sometimes cries out "Wow!" or "Hallelujah!"
* HiddenDepths: Despite being a peeping tom, he's also [[spoiler:a police officer with strong morals and a sense of justice.]]
* {{Irony}}: Nothing could possibly fit this trope more than a [[spoiler:police officer with upstanding morals and a strong sense of right and wrong who is also a pervert of epic proportions.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Love Scope".
* MyGreatestFailure: [[spoiler:His inability to stop the fire that killed Kuchinashi's family still weighs on him.]]
* {{Nosebleed}}: Gets them a lot. He even has a ''dedicated hole in his mask'' for them!
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:17 in Mobius, 27 in real life.]]
* ThePeepingTom: Very much so. He tries to argue that it's the same thing as watching porn or reading dirty magazines.
* RecurringBoss: Is fought three times in his dungeon, and once more in the Grand Guignol.
* VoluntaryShapeshifting: He can transform into inanimate objects like benches, vending machines, and lanterns.
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler:He's seen in an interrogation room with what is seemingly the photo he took of Kouki on the table, begging for forgiveness from his interrogator.]]

!!Kuchinashi (Kurumi Yumino)
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HimikaAkaneya
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuchinashi.jpg]]
->'''Theme song by:''' Pinocchio-P

A listless-looking Ostinato Musician. She uses a special mechanism to speak instead of using her natural voice, and rarely expresses feelings of excitement. The other Musicians like her, but she often keeps to herself.
----
* {{Determinator}}: Absolutely won't allow the Go-Home Club to return to reality, even if she has to die to ensure it doesn't happen. ''Especially'' not [[spoiler:Eiji, who she believes to be the the arsonist who burned down her home and killed her family.]]
* HeKnowsTooMuch: Not her, but [[spoiler:her parents. They knew about Eiji's embezzlement, which led to him calling on Kouki to kill Kuchinashi's father (and he ends up killing her mother and sister in the process as well).]]
* KickTheDog: Poor Kuchinashi gets it bad at the end of the Sun Temple. [[spoiler:Eiji triggers her with his Catharsis Effect, and then [[KickThemWhileTheyAreDown repeatedly kicks her while she's down]] after the boss fight with her. He probably would have done [[ShootTheDog worse]] had Ayana not stopped him.]]
* LateToTheTragedy: [[spoiler:She was totally unaware of her home being burned, as she was on a school trip at the time.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Onboro" (Tattered).
* MeaningfulName: The way her musician name is written (梔子) is the word for "gardenia", but the spelling can also mean "no mouth" when written 口無し, which is fitting given she wears a gas mask. Whenever Eiji is talking about her, the "no mouth" spelling is used in dialogue boxes.
* MultiColoredHair: Black and white.
* NotBrainwashed: Her loyalty to Thorn means she doesn't need to be brainwashed like [[spoiler:Sweet-P, Shonen Doll, Stork and Ike-P]] in the Grand Guignol.
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:17 in Mobius, 20 in real life.]]
* PetTheDog: Her birthday party that she invites all the other Musicians to, where she introduces them to her (NPC) family. It's a genuinely happy moment for her... until [[MoodWhiplash one of the NPCs lights a match for her birthday cake.]]
* {{Revenge}}: [[spoiler:Her single biggest motivation in life is getting revenge on Eiji for killing her family (indirectly, but still) and ruining her life.]]
* ShockAndAwe: Her weapon is a taser like Ayana's.
* SoleSurvivor: [[spoiler:The only living member of her family after her parents and older sister died in an arson.]]
* TheSpeechless: [[spoiler:She has aphonia as a result of the fire six years ago, and can't speak without the help of her mask. At the end of her Character Episode, you can get her to try and speak without it, but all that comes out is a weak-sounding "thank you".]]
* TraumaButton: Has several, but her main one is being around fire, which also causes her breathing disorder to flare up. Just seeing a lit match is enough to make her panic.
** She also has panic attacks whenever anyone [[spoiler:raises their finger to their mouth in a shushing gesture, because that's part of how Eiji mocked her.]]
* TraumaCongaLine: [[spoiler:As if her losing her family and voice in an arson wasn't bad enough, she was one of the key witnesses in Eiji's trial for embezzlement. She was unable to say anything coherent no matter how hard she tried, and Eiji started mocking her from his seat; she eventually had a panic attack and passed out.]]
* UndyingLoyalty: To Thorn.
* UnknownRival: To Eiji, who has no idea why she's after him and claims to not know who she is. [[spoiler:He's lying through his teeth, [[ConsummateLiar of course.]]]]

!!Koki Tadokoro
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reddeadredemption2_002_cs1w1_400x.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TomokazuSugita

A man who is fanatically obsessed with μ. He's seen as selfish and egotistical by many, to the point that he's referred to as "Ego Head".
----
* EvenEvilHasStandards: Koki is a despicable human being, of that there can be no doubt. But even he finds [[spoiler:Eiji]] to be unsettling. [[spoiler:It's also thanks to Koki that the protagonist can oust him from the Go-Home Club.]]
* {{Jerkass}}: Absolutely shows no respect to anyone, not even the Ostinato Musicians. Surprisingly, this also works in his favor as he's an Egohead, a type of Digihead that helps stabilize Mobius, but can't be controlled by the Musicians. Meaning he's immune to their brainwashing.
* LoonyFan: Of μ [[spoiler:and in real life, Uzume-tai (specifically Himari).]] He even claims that fans and gods are the same.
* OhCrap: [[spoiler:Eiji Biwasaka]] is practically his panic button. Not surprising, given that he could easily have turned Koki's life into hell anytime he wanted.

!!Himari Minamide
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/minamidetemp.jpg]]

The leader of the underground idol group Uzume-tai up until her sudden death.
----
* DrivenToSuicide: [[spoiler:Kills herself after Kouki assaults her and leaves her permanently blind.]]
* OneDegreeOfSeparation: As noted below, all new characters in the remake are connected to Himari in some fashion. [[spoiler:Ayana was a member of Uzume-tai and witnessed her assault at the hands of Koki. Eiji was Koki's lawyer, who defended him by having him plead mental instability. Kuchinashi and her family were involved with Eiji and learned of him embezzling money from her dementia ridden grandmother, which led to him having Koki burn their house down. Stork was a police officer who was [[PeepingTom doing what he did best]] when he saw Koki setting a house on fire. The fire killed Kuchinashi's parents and sister, and while Stork wasn't able to save them, he was able to take a picture of Koki in the act.]]
* PosthumousCharacter: Himari is dead six years prior to the start of the game.
* SpellMyNameWithAnS: For a time before the reading for her name was confirmed as "Himari", many fans called her "Hinata", which is a more common reading of the kanji in her name.

!!The nameless girl
->'''Voiced by:''' Rio Watanabe

A girl who appears before the protagonist when examining some of the world wonders around Mobius. She has no memory of who she is or why she's in Mobius.

[[/folder]]

[[folder:Other Characters ('''GAME/ANIME SPOILERS''')]]
!!Ichika Saotome
A friend of Shogo and Asuka, who enjoyed going to concerts at the Grand Guignol. One day, she asked Shogo to commit suicide with her; he initially accepted but backed out at the last minute. Her death filled Shogo with grief, and Asuka with rage.
----
* DrivenToSuicide: Thirteen years before the start of the game, she jumps off an under-construction skyscraper. It's never stated why. Shogo was supposed to [[SuicidePact join her]] but he ran away at the last minute.
* PlotTriggeringDeath: Her death is what made Shogo and Asuka who they are today.
* PosthumousCharacter

!!Rose, Lily, and Iris
Sweet-P's "princesses".
----
* ADayInTheLimelight: They get a bit more focus during some of Sweet-P's character episodes.
* BrainwashedAndCrazy: Ike-P brainwashes them into fans of Izuru who then chase the Go-Home Club relentlessly.
* PaletteSwap: All three of them look identical other than the color of their clothes. Lampshaded by Kotaro, who mentions this trope by name.
* QuestGiver: Each of them gives Mifue a task in order to gauge whether she's worthy of meeting Sweet-P.
* ThemeNaming: Flowers.
* WolfpackBoss: The three of them are fought together during Ike-P's chapter.

!!Toshizo Natori
Mirei's humble servant, both in real life and in Mobius.
----
* AdaptationExpansion: He gets more focus in the anime than in the game. Even in ''Overdose'', he only appears in Mirei's chapter of the story and her character episodes.
* BodyguardBetrayal: In the anime, he votes against Mirei in her beauty contest with Kotono because he believes a total loss would make her look more beautiful, somehow.
* ExtremeDoormat: Goes along with everything Mirei does. Any time he tries to suggest anything to her, she usually tells him to shut up.
* OldRetainer: Hinted at given his mannerisms and confirmed in the anime to be an elderly man.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Is revealed to be an elderly hospitalized invalid outside of Mobius.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Mirei. He doesn't mind if she's rich or not, he will always stay by her side.
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: Shown in the anime's epilogue to be bedridden in the hospital due to his age but still happily conversing with Mirei who visits him.

!!Chika Usami
A girl whose phone Shogo accidentally breaks. In order to make it up to her, the two of them start dating, though it's a shallow relationship at best.
* DrivenToSuicide: She nearly commits suicide under the exact same circumstances as Ichika after Shogo breaks up with her. This time, though, Shogo is able to talk her down from it.
* LikesOlderMen: Even though she and Shogo break up, she later states that she wouldn't have minded continuing to date even knowing that he's ''double her age''. Given that she's underage, though, he shuts that right down.
* YoungerThanTheyLook: 15 years old. Shogo is, rightfully, disturbed when he finds out.

!!Tokiko Chiba
Kotono's friend; the two of them go to singles parties together. It is later revealed that she is the one sending Kotono letters signed "Your Prince", and even later revealed that she is actually Kotono's ''aunt.''
----
* OlderThanTheyLook: Her age is never stated, but it's safe to assume she's in her 40s at least.
* StalkerWithoutACrush: Is the one who sends the letters to Kotono as "her prince", but she's definitely not after her for romantic reasons.
* WhatTheHellHero: Calls Kotono out on abandoning Takkun.

!!Ryosuke
Kotono's ex-boyfriend. In their senior year of high school, they had sex, and then after they graduated Ryosuke gave her a fake address and phone number and disappeared. He later comes to Mobius for unknown reasons, where Mirei captures him and uses him as bait for Kotono, which... doesn't work out for her.
----
* DisappearedDad: To Takkun.
* DistressedDude: Is trapped in an empty aquarium tank, with water filling up.
* OlderThanTheyLook: Is presumably the same age as Kotono, which would make him 23.
* ScrewThisImOuttaHere: Dumps Kotono after getting her pregnant.

!!Yuto Yamazaki
Kotaro's cousin, who was very abusive towards him in real life.
----
* StopHelpingMe: Tries to do this with Kotaro, but he doesn't budge. Yuto's surprised by this given that he didn't exactly treat Kotaro well.

!!Bluemon
A former fan of Kagi-P/Kensuke, whose music really resonated with him. He used to be in a rock band, but now is an office worker with nothing to look forward to in life. He eventually helps Kensuke find his own purpose in life.
----
* TheAlcoholic:
-->'''Bluemon''': The only thing you can control in the real world is alcohol. No... not even that.
* BrokenPedestal: Initially hates Kensuke for how pathetic he became after leaving the Musicians, though he warms back up to him.
* KnownOnlyByTheirNickname: His real name is never given.
* MeaningfulName: It's a shortening of the phrase "Blue Monday", or "Monday blues".
* OlderThanTheyLook: Is ''40'', making him one of the oldest voiced characters.

!!Sho Takatsu, Shigeo Yumita, and Susumu Toyama
Three of Ritsu's classmates. He hangs out with them regularly, though they don't really seem to care about his interest in psychology.
----
* AscendedExtra: The three of them were generic students in the game... not that they end up doing much more in the anime.
* BigEater: Takatsu.
* WeHardlyKnewYe: They get little screen time, and after they become Digiheads in episode 2 they're never heard from again.

!!Shingo Tachibana
->'''Voiced by:''' Chiharu Sawashiro

A character in the anime adaptation. He's the head of a software team responsible for μ and is well liked by everyone. Following μ's actions in bringing people into Mobius, he has been hounded by the media.
----
* BecomingTheMask: Not him, but rather Ritsu. Ritsu was jealous of Shingo's talent in drawing in other people, and when he entered Mobius, he based his appearance on him and adopted a similar personality.
* BrokenPedestal: Played with. Ritsu obviously admired Shingo for his skills, but he was never able to actually find any joy in his presence, as he was everything Ritsu was not. It didn't help the fact that Ritsu was jealous of him for his social skills and ability to befriend virtually almost anyone.
* CanonForeigner: He is never mention neither in the game or the remake and he only appears in the anime adaption.
* {{Foil}}: To Ritsu. Shingo was knowledgeable of human emotions and concepts of happiness, and was easily able to draw in people. Ritsu, on the other hand, was socially awkward and was unable to try and forge a connection.
* WalkingSpoiler: He's only formally introduced in the penultimate episode, and his physical appearance spoils the fact that Ritsu based his own appearance in Mobius off of him.

->'''Voiced by:''' Chiharu Sawashiro (game, anime [[spoiler:episode 1-9;12]]), [[spoiler:Creator/NobuhikoOkamoto (anime, episode 11-12)]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/MiyukiSawashiro

->'''Voiced by:''' ???
->'''Theme song by:''' [=UtsuP=]

--->''[[PrecisionFStrike Fuck]] this world''
* TheMole: Partially subverted.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AsamiShimoda

* {{Leitmotif}}: "Veritas".
* SleepModeSize: Throughout the game, she is tiny and has a SuperDeformed appearance as a result of μ's increasing power. In the epilogue, her true appearance can be seen.
** In ''Overdose'', she is able to return to normal size though the context surrounding this is currently unknown.
* SyntheticVoiceActor: Similar to μ.
* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: [[spoiler: The only one of the heroes not to be shown in the anime's epilogue.]]

!!Shogo Satake
[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shogo_satake_catharsis.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ShunsukeTakeuchi

* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:He is ''30'', not 18.]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/RieMurakawa

* MissingMom: [[spoiler:Is this to Takkun. She went to Mobius two years prior to the game's events, so he was just ''two'' when she left.]]
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Is 23, not 18.]]
* SlutShaming: [[spoiler:Kotono, who grew up without a father, used to judge her loose mother for running a hostess bar. However, during the aftermath of her pregnancy, Kotono comes to appreciate her supportive mother.]]
* TeenPregnancy: [[spoiler:Gave birth to a child just after finishing high school; she was pregnant when she graduated.]]
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue: [[spoiler:The anime shows her reuniting with Tak-kun and her mother in an attempt to restore her family.]]

!!Kotaro Tomoe
[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kotaro_tomoe_catharsis.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YoshimasaHosoya

* YoungerThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Is only 14, not 18.]]

!!Kensuke Hibiki
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kensuke_hibiki_catharsis.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ShoutaAoi
->'''Theme song by:''' [=40mP=]

* {{Foil}}:
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Is 19, not 16.]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/RieTakahashi

A cheerful and bold first-year student whose graceful figure belies a big appetite. However, she tends to have a rather short temper. Her Catharsis Effect awakens when she and the protagonist get ambushed by Digiheads at Papiko mall. Her birthday is on April 20th.
----
* BadassAdorable
* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Only by a year, but still. She's 17, not 16.]]

[[quoteright:270:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/suzuna_kagura_catharsis.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Minami Tanaka

* ShrinkingViolet: Around most people.

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/AriOzawa

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/YuichiroUmehara (Game, Episode 1-8), Creator/TomoakiMaeno (Episode 9-12)

* HollywoodPersonalityDisorders: [[spoiler:Schizoid personality disorder.]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ReinaUeda
->'''Theme song by:''' Mikito

* {{Leitmotif}}: "Orbit".

!!Sweet-P (Shizuka Nijoin)
[[quoteright:280:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/sweet_p.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/EmiNitta
->'''Theme song by:''' OSTER Project

* MegaTwinTails: Has this style.
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue:
** In the anime, [[spoiler:she's shown to be continuing her food reviews whilst going to a ramen shop.]]
** In ''Overdose'', [[spoiler:Mifue meets her in the real world at a restaurant.]]

!!Shonen-Doll (Akira Komori)
[[quoteright:300:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/shonen_doll.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Yumiri Hanamori
->'''Theme song by:''' [=PolyphonicBranch=]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/ErikoNakamura
->'''Theme song by:''' Chouchou-P

* BareYourMidriff
* HollywoodPersonalityDisorders: [[spoiler:Narcissistic personality disorder.]]
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Sadistic Queen".
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue:

[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ike_p.jpg]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/SomaSaito
->'''Theme song by:''' Asa

* EvenEvilHasStandards:
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Tenshi no Uta" (Angel's Song).

* {{Leitmotif}}: "sin".

An enigmatic, mysterious musician. They make very violent, impactful music, but nobody knows their name or what they look like.

----
* ADayInTheLimelight: She is the focal character of the light novel.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Cosmo Dancer".
* WhereAreTheyNowEpilogue:

* ItsPersonal: With Shogo.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Distorted Happiness".

[[folder:''Overdose'' exclusive characters]]
!!Ayana Amamoto
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/ayana_amamoto.png]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Maria Naganawa

* OlderThanTheyLook: [[spoiler:Is 27, not 17.]]

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/KenjiAkabane

->'''Voiced by:''' Shugo Nakamura
[[quoteright:200:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/stork.jpg]]
->'''Theme song by:''' DECO*27

* ClassyCane: His weapon is a cane/whip like Eiji's.
* {{Leitmotif}}: "Love Scope".

->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/HimikaAkaneya
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/kuchinashi.jpg]]
->'''Theme song by:''' Pinocchio-P

* {{Leitmotif}}: "Onboro" (Tattered).
* MultiColoredHair: Black and white.
* UndyingLoyalty: To Thorn.
* UnknownRival: To Eiji, who has no idea why she's after him and claims to not know who she is. [[spoiler:He's lying through his teeth, [[ConsummateLiar of course.]]]]

!!Koki Tadokoro
[[quoteright:250:https://static.tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pub/images/reddeadredemption2_002_cs1w1_400x.jpg]]
->'''Voiced by:''' Creator/TomokazuSugita

->'''Voiced by:''' Rio Watanabe

* PosthumousCharacter

* ThemeNaming: Flowers.

----
* DisappearedDad: To Takkun.

----
* TheAlcoholic:

!!Shingo Tachibana
->'''Voiced by:''' Chiharu Sawashiro
