* TheAce: A villainous example. Thragg is the strongest Viltrumite in the entire series, trained from birth to be the strongest of all. He's so strong he can fight several Rognarrs (one of the few creatures in the universe that present a threat to a Viltrumite) by himself and win without trouble. The only characters that come even near his level of strength are Nolan and Mark.

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Despite being an insane and genocidal warmonger, he seemed to love Viltrum and his people, and believed the only way for them to survive was under his rule... [[spoiler:Up until he was rejected by Viltrumites, who decided to follow in Nolan's footsteps and live in peaceful coexistence with humans; at this point he doesn't care about anything other than revenge, even if it means killing off the remainder of the pure-blooded Viltrumite populace because of his bruised ego. While he ''seemingly'' loved his twin children, Onaan and Ursaal (he was outraged and nearly killed Mark when he killed Onaan and threw his corpse at him, and he hugged Ursaal when she mourned his death) it wasn't unconditional love, as he just barely finds it in himself to restrain his anger and return Ursaal's hug, and his latter claim that all weak Viltrumites deserve to die implies Onaan's death did not faze him at all]].

* HairTriggerTemper: To [[AxCrazy absolutely insane levels]]. Any meager slight, inconvenience or challenge to his authority is immediately met with bloodshed.

* InvincibleVillain: As the strongest Viltrumite, Thragg runs through various fighters in the series with ease. The first fight he lost was because he was being ganged up on by 4 other Viltrumites. In the end Mark didn't defeat him by overpowering him but rather by forcing him to fight in the sun where he would slowly but surely burn to death.

* NoHistoricalFiguresWereHarmed: Thragg has some superficial resemblance to General Francisco Franco, dictator of Spain, in that both are moustachioed semi-Fascist types who rule as Regent in place of an absent King; Thragg is even introducing sporting the exact same type of fur-coated cape that Franco was know to wear. That being said, Thraggs overall philosophy of MightMakesRight and genocidal SocialDarwinist beliefs otherwise makes him closer to a muscular, superpowered Space Hitler.

* PsychopathicManchild: After being overthrown, Thragg is really nothing more than a pathetic overgrown child throwing a genocidal temper tantrum over not getting what he wants.
* PyrrhicVictory: He defeats and kills [[spoiler: Battle Beast]] after a long, grueling fight spanning several days but is so drained he faints after the ordeal.

* FacialHorror: At the end of the first fight with him, Conquest manages to severely injure Invincible's arms and one of his legs. As a last desperate attack, Invincible decides to headbutt Conquest multiple times in the face. By the end of the fight, Conquest's face is horribly disfigured.

* ImplacableMan: Easily one of Invincible's most powerful foes and seen as virtually unstoppable, pushing Mark to use the most brutal fighting methods to keep up against him along with some assistance.

* NeverFoundTheBody: Invincible attempts to defy the trope to make sure that Conquest is dead, but is instead shown a fake body of Conquest by Cecil Stedman. Cecil Stedman [[FakingTheDead instead fakes Conquest's death in order to use the latter to learn more about the Viltrumite Empire.]]

* SmugSnake: Implied. Conquest doesn't take either of his fights with Invincible seriously until the very end. Omni-Man explains that he won so many battles that he acts more like a spectator rather than a fighter. This ends up being his undoing in their final battle, as it allows Invincible to get the drop on him and by then, it is too late.
* TorsoWithAView: The moment Atom Eve arrives in his battle against Invincible, Conquest immediately impales her with his own hand.
* ToServeMan: He seems to relish the idea of eating his dead foes. He threatens to eat Oliver and Mark's hearts once their fight is over, and he licks Eve's blood off his fingers, commenting that he finds it "Delicious."

* VictoryByEndurance: In his second fight against Invincible, Conquest dies because Invincible had managed to use all his will power to strangle him to death despite the pain.

* VillainousValour: As Invincible asks him if he's given up fighting him after a headbutt. Conquest replies that he can take more, so Invincible gives him several more headbutts until Conquest's face turns into FacialHorror. In their second fight, Conquest still refuses to give up fighting even when Invincible is choking him. He even goes as far as to drive his own robotic hand into Invincible's guts before he ultimately dies from lack of air.

* EyeScream: Suffers this during his battle with Battle Beast.

* AlasPoorVillain: His on-panel actions depict him as little more than a blood-thirsty brute who loves to kill and maim anyone Thragg unleashes him upon. But after his death, Nolan gives him a funeral, stating that Conquest was indeed a great warrior who had lost his way and at least deserves the dignity of a proper burial despite his actions.

* BloodSplatteredWarrior: Exaggerated: Conquest is doused in the blood of Invincible and Atom during his first fight with the former, giving him an absolutely nightmarish face when he takes the time to [[EvilGloating gloat to Invincible.]] Conquest even takes the time to lick Atom Eve's own blood and comment on how delicious it is.

* GodzillaThreshold: He is essentially this to the Viltrumite Empire. He is ''the'' greatest active warrior in their army, who ''always'' conquers every planet he's assigned to. [[spoiler: And yet his status as one of the few remaining pure-blooded Viltrumites left in the universe make his continued existence especially sacred to the Empire.]] Him being sent to Earth is explicitly because the Viltrumite Empire anticipated that Invincible would resist, ''and consider that possibility enough of a threat that they refused to send anything'' '''''less''''' ''than Conquest to stand in opposition.''
* GoneHorriblyWrong: Cecil fakes Conquest's death by showing Invincible a fake body and locking the real Conquest inside a prison at a desert. Cecil planned on interrogating Conquest to gain knowledge about the Viltrumite Empire, but it goes horribly wrong. [[IdiotBall Cecil genuinely thought]] that a [[CardBoardPrison 400-ton underground prison would hold]] [[ImplacableMan a Viltrumite who nearly]] [[CurbStompBattle killed Invincible]], who is [[NormalFishInATinyPond considered to be the strongest superhero on Earth.]]

* ImplacableMan: Easily one of Invincible's most powerful foes and seen as virtually unstoppable, unless the most brutal fighting methods are used against him.
* KillerBearHug: Conquest attempts to restrain Invincible's attacks by bear hugging him. However, Invincible breaks out of the hug by biting his shoulder off.

* OldSoldier: Similar to Thaedus, he is very old and a soldier, though the similarities stop there. He's even considered very old for a Viltrumite, who live for ''thousands and thousands'' of years, and the fact that he's lived so long in ''[[TheSocialDarwinist their]]'' ''[[ProudWarriorRaceGuy culture]]'' should tell you all you need to know about how terrifying a warrior he is.

* AngstySurvivingTwin: Ursaal and her twin brother Onaan weren't that close, but she was still devastated after [[spoiler:his death at the hands of Invincible]].
* TheDragon: To her father, acting CoDragons with her brother until [[spoiler:Onann's death]]. [[spoiler:Her authority is enough to convince the rest of her siblings to stand down once it's clear that she and the rest of them are expendable in their father's eyes.]]

* ImplacableMan: It didn't matter what Mark and Terra did to flee from him, he just wouldn't stop pursuing them.

* UndyingLoyalty: Towards his father, as he is the most loyal and supportive of Thragg's children and idolises him till the end.
* WouldHurtAChild: When he attacked Mark and his family, he went straight towards Terra and raved on how he'd enjoy killing her. Fortunately, Mark fended him off and ultimately killed him.

* FamilyMan: [[spoiler:After creating dozens of children with dozens of women, he actually loves them all genuinely. He is also married to all of them and takes great care of his children equally.]]

* EvenEvilHasLovedOnes: Despite being an insane and genocidal warmonger, he seemed to love Viltrum and his people and believed the only way for them to survive was under his rule... * LackOfEmpathy: Perhaps his greatest flaw besides his self-centeredness is his complete lack of empathy for others. His little understanding or care for other people's feelings lead him to underestimate them and fail in his objectives each time.

* {{Narcissist}}: At his core, he wants to be the leader of the Viltrumites, and if he's not ([[spoiler:which happens]]), he calls UngratefulBastard on all of them and tries to destroy all of them despite his supposed dedication to preserving their race and culture; or, if we're being charitable, Thragg can't distinguish between Vitrumite culture and himself, so while he ''might'' be willing to stand aside for another leader, this is conditional on Thragg being given the respect he feels he deserves for being the leader for thousands of years, and on his replacement being committed to continuing the Viltrumite way- hence, in his mind, it's not that ''he'' betrayed the Viltrumites, it's that the Viltrumites betrayed ''him'' and betrayed themselves.

* RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil: At some point, [[spoiler:he forcibly breeds with every women in a whole planet to make offspring, all to form a new army.]]

* AlasPoorVillain: His on-panel actions depict him as little more than a blood-thirsty brute who loves to kill and maim anyone Thragg unleashes him upon. But after his death, Nolan gives him a proper funeral and says that Conquest was indeed a great warrior who had lost his way and at least deserves the dignity of a proper funeral despite his actions.

* EvilIsBigger: He a large, imposing Viltrumite who towers above Mark in every way.

* NotQuiteDead: He is seemingly killed by the many headbutts he received from Invincible. However, Conquest manages to survive the attack by being locked up inside a CardBoardPrison by Cecil, with the intention of interrogating Conquest.

* SlasherSmile: Conquest's [[NightmareFace nightmarish face]] holds a terrifying slasher smile when he gives his "thank you" speech to Invincible.

* UndyingLoyalty: Most of Conquest's loyalty towards Thragg mainly leads towards fear rather than care.
* VictoryByEndurance: In his second fight against Invincible, Conquest is killed off because Invincible had managed to use all his will power to strangle him to death despite the pain.

* BitchInSheepsClothing: Oh, so very much and she seems to enjoy it. She acted all nice and helpful in hopes of seducing Mark. When Mark rejects her, she [[spoiler:rapes him]]. When Mark attacks the drone Rex sent to negotiate with the Viltrumite, she pretended to help him up only for him to slap her hand in anger, but her only reaction is to smile. A day later, when Mark is on the Viltrumite warship she sees him and casually greets him and his anger gets the better of him and he grabs her by the throat, shouting at her to "back off". However, she only revealed how much she is enjoying his anger and aggression to the point where she wants to speed up their "next meeting". The shocked Mark let her go and she smiles as Mark denies anything that his father need to know about what happened.

* DeliberateValuesDissonance: While [[spoiler:raping]] Mark is wrong on every possible level, from Anissa's perspective it was simply "the Viltrumite way", something that Nolan later acknowledges with great remorse once [[spoiler:he finds out what she did to Mark]].

* DefrostingIceQueen: Nolan tells Mark that she's become a much kinder person while he was missing. Obviously Mark is skeptical since [[spoiler:[[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil she raped him]]]]. Peculiarly, it turns out to be true ([[spoiler:their son]] was an effective MoralityPet), and she eventually dies saving Eve.

* OlderThanTheyLook: Anissa was born on the Viltrumite home planet, and witnessed the time of king Argall, the purge, the Scourge virus and the rise of Thragg to power which happened thousands of years ago. She looks not that much older than Mark. The Viltrumites age slower as they get older.

* SerialRapist: Knowing how normal and common it is amongst Viltrumites to forcefully breed with one another--her raping Mark probably wasn't the first time of her forcing herself on a person. She also states in Issue 46 to Allen the Alien that her fourth husband couldn't even hit her that hard after getting punched by him.

* OneTrueLove: Has the record of the fastest converted Viltrumite in the series, [[spoiler:having found true love on his first try with a woman he completely devotes himself to, adopting serious monogamous commitment, despite Thragg's direct orders for mass scale breeding, for she was hurt by her previous lover who had an affair before]].

* OlderThanSheLooks: She is one of the older Viltrumites, much older than Nolan for comparison, with only her silver hair indicating that, meanwhile she is drawn with soft face features like any other young woman in the series.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: Thaedus is responsible for developing the Scourge virus that nearly wiped out the Viltrumites, and won't hesitate to use it again if the Coalition were close to losing the war.

* WouldHurtAChild: When he attacked Mark and his family, he went straight towards Terra and raved on how he'd enjoy killing her. Fortunately, Mark fended him off and ultimately killed him to stop him.

* AchillesHeel: Have a handful that they took great pains to eradicate from the universe. The only one they can't circumvent is that their hearing is highly vulnerable to sonic attacks, being debilitated if not killed by them due to how their flight power works, which operate on an internal equilibrium so complex and efficient it doesn't take much to ruin it when you got the right frequencies.

* EvilGloating: While Invincible mourns for a dying Atom Eve, Conquest takes the time to relish the scene by thanking Invincible in the most insulting way possible; for defying the Viltrumite Empire and giving him the excuse to go crazy in destroying the Earth.

* EvilLaugh: Conquest responds to Invincible's words of how he is going to kill him with laughter.

* FaceHeelTurn: It's said by Nolan that Conquest was a great warrior who had lost his way, implying that he wasn't that evil before.
* FacialHorror: PlayedForHorror. At the end of his first fight against Invincible, Conquest manages to severely injure Invincible's arms and one of his legs. As a last desperate attack, Invincible decides to use his head to headbutt Conquest multiple times in his face. By the end of the fight, Conquest's face is horribly disfigured by Mark, and Mark passes out from the injuries he received from the battle.

Conquest even takes the time to lick Atom Eve's own blood and comment on how delicious it is. The amount of blood that stayed on Conquest's body gives him an absolutely nightmarish face when he takes the time to [[EvilGloating gloat to Invincible.]]

* CombatBreakdown: During his first fight against Invincible, the battle becomes so desperate that the both of them start to fight like savage animals to emerge as the victor. Invincible starts to use his teeth, head, and he is even willing to shatter his own arm just to destroy Conquest's own [[ArtificialLimbs artificial arm]].

* CoDragons: with Kregg to Thragg.

* FaceHeelTurn: It's said by Nolan that Conquest was a great warrior who had lost his way, which implies that he wasn't that evil before.

* FanDisservice: When Conquest is [[spoiler: [[ConvenientlyTimedAttackFromBehind blasted in the back by Atom Eve in her full powered state,]]]] he gets his clothes and and skin burnt off. His burnt skin shows off a lot of his muscles, but is horrifically injured by the attack.

* GuttedLikeAFish: In his second fight against Invincible, Conquest sharpens his hand and punches Invincible's stomach so badly that a huge hole is made. After creating the hole, Conquest shoves his metallic hand inside it to crush Invincible's intestines.
* HiddenDepths: Conquest is actually a brute with plenty of composure, his love for fighting and carnage is genuine to the point of him openly showing disdain for feelings of anger, wrath and the like, as he reprimanded Mark for trying to overcome him with rage; he is a monster, but one that wants to be in control of what he does.

* PunchedAcrossTheRoom: He delivers many punches that causes Invincible to fly through many buildings before the latter crashes on the ground.
* {{Sadist}}: Unlike the rest of his species, Conquest has proven himself to be one of, if not ''the'' most, sadistic viltrumite on planet Viltrum. As soon as Conquest fights Mark, Conquest often smirks at the superhero and when Mark attempts to beg for mercy, Conquest tells Mark how idiotic it is to beg in his eyes. Once Conquest stabs Atom Eve with his hand, he proceeds to mock Invincible about trying to love a human and that Invincible should hurry up with any remaining feeling he has for the dying Eve. As Conquest mocks Invincible, Conquest showcases his terrifying NightmareFace as he thanks him for resisting the Viltrum Empire and giving him the chance to show his sadism and love for destruction.

* SmugSnake: Implied. Conquest doesn't take either of his fights with Invincible seriously until the very end. Omni-Man explains that he had won so many battles that he acts more like a spectator rather than a fighter. This ends up being his undoing in their final battle, as it allows Invincible to get the drop on him and by then, it is too late.

* VillainRespect: Develops it towards Mark, regarding his combat prowess -- though mostly because he likes a good challenge. When Mark destroys his robotic hand in their PunchParry, an impressed Conquest takes a moment to muse that they were finally getting somewhere.
* VillainousValour: As Invincible headbutts Conquest in the face, Invincible asks Conquest if he has given up fighting him. Conquest replies that he can take on more of Invincible's headbutts, so Invincible headbutts him in the face multiple times until his face is filled with FacialHorror. In his second fight against Invincible, Conquest refuses to give up fighting against Invincible even while Invincible is choking him in the neck. Conquest even goes as far as to drive his own robotic hand into Invincible's guts before he ultimately dies from lack of air.

** Subverted in his fight with [[spoiler:Battle Beast]], who proved to be the only being in the universe he couldn't immediately kill, [[spoiler:with their brawl taking over ''several days'' and BB coming very close to winning. Had Battle Beast not [[WorfHadTheFlu intentionally injured himself]] to [[HonorBeforeReason make the fight "fair"]], it's quite possible that Thragg would've lost.]]

* CurbStompBattle: When he's attacked by [[spoiler:Dinosaurus, who's trying to save Mark, Dinosaurus can't do a single bit of damage to Thragg and injures himself trying to maul the Viltrumite. Thragg, on the other hand, really lets Dinosaurus have it.]]

** Viltrumites believe that they deserve to rule and plunder the universe at their leisure [[MightMakesRight because they are stronger than everybody else]] - as such, Thragg is justified in disregarding his orders to find and submit to the son of Argall since that son is weaker than him and those orders were in tension with his cultural norms from the outset. Thragg represents the logical conclusion of Viltrumite beliefs, and arguably is only real hypocrisy is on continuing to call himself a "regent" rather than just publicly admitting that he doesn't care about what anyone else thinks on the matter and making himself King.

** Viltrumites believe that they deserve to rule and plunder the universe at their leisure [[MightMakesRight because they are stronger than everybody else]] - as such, Thragg is justified in disregarding his orders to find and submit to the son of Argall since he is weaker than him, and those orders were in tension with his cultural norms from the outset. His only real hipocrisy is on continuing to call himself a "regent" rather than just publicly admitting that he doesn't care about what anyone else thinks on the matter.

* HumanityIsInfectious: [[spoiler:When they are ordered to integrate into human society in order to find partners and repopulate their race, many of them end up changing from bloodthirsty conquerors to empathetic people after being exposed to actual love for the first time in their long lives.]]

* NiceJobFixingItVillain: After Viltrum is destroyed, he arranges to have the surviving Viltrumites live on Earth (on the condition that they won't destroy Earth or interfere in human affairs) for the time being so they can repopulate, and then continue their conquest once they have sufficient numbers. What he fails to anticipate is that, like Nolan, most of them rapidly become less violent and evil after even a short time living on Earth and experiencing positive relationships. By the time Thragg is deposed and Nolan takes over, most Viltrumites have lost interest in violent conquest and actually want to be a positive force in the universe.

** Viltrumites believe that they deserve to rule and plunder the universe at their leisure because they are stronger and more ruthless than everybody else, and that the strongest deserve to rule period- as such, from a certain (Viltrumite) point of view, Thragg is justified in disregarding his orders to find and submit to the son of Argall since he is weaker than him, and those orders were in tension with his cultural norms from the outset. In other words, Thragg is arguably the logical conclusion of what the Viltrumites are all about to begin with, and his only real hypocrisy was not so much deceiving his people "per say", but in continuing to name himself Regent rather than just publicly admitting that he doesn't think the heir matters anymore and just make himself the new King, since it was ''very'' unlikely that any other Viltrumite would (or could) challenge him on this.

* TheHeavy: The mastermind behind the Viltrumite Empire’s plans, sending Omni-Man to earth and later Conquest before becoming more active himself over the course of the series.

* ItsAllAboutMe: At his core, he wants to be the leader of the Viltrumites, and if he's not ([[spoiler:which happens]]), he calls UngratefulBastard on all of them and tries to destroy all of them despite his supposed dedication to preserving their race and culture.
