* Jerkass: Blue is entitled, disrespectful to her fellow cast and the tech crew, and delusional of her own abilities to boot.

A male friend Elliot had invited to audition for Heathers after Elliot told how how much fun the last show was. He is cast as Heather McNamara in Heathers before getting [[spoiler:recast as Kurt during all the role shuffling]]. He is never given a name and puts in the bare minimum effort the whole way through.

* Cloudcuckoolander: It’s understandable that he’s not familiar with rehearsal or theatre etiquette, being his first show, but he doesn’t prepare a song to an audition for a musical, misses many rehearsals to the point where his role needs to be recast, and barely reacts even when the director is admonishing him for ordering pizza during rehearsal.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Anna is generally mild-mannered and kind to everyone, but when Blue [[spoiler:makes a low blow about Jake’s family issues]] at the end of Season 1, Anna straight up [spoiler:''slaps'' her in the middle of Denny’s.]] While she hasn't done it in Season 2, she openly threatens to if needed.

* PutOnABus: Left the series after Beauty and the Beast for “a department with a budget”. Though it’s much more likely she just [[ScrewThisImOuttaHere wanted to get as far away from Blue and her mother as possible …]]]

The series' namesake and the main nuisance of the high school theatre department. She is cast in ensemble in Beauty and the Beast (specifically "Fork #5") and as Heather Duke in Heathers, before losing both due to getting kicked out for hostile behaviour. She's highly obnoxious, annoying, and deludedly believes herself to be a theatre prodigy. All of this comes at the major aggravation of the cast, crew, and both directors who are all sick to death of her awful attitude.

* AbhorrentAdmirer: Blue isn't terrible on the eyes but her abhorrent qualities are obvious the second she opens her mouth. She has a crush on Elliot that she doesn’t even attempt to hide, acting overly familiar with him, asking if he wants to "practise" the kiss scene with her, and even holding him up backstage on opening night, right before his entrance, to confess her feelings.

* HateSink: You'd be hard-pressed to find a single redeeming feature in Blue - she seldom goes a single scene without doing or saying something insufferable. Her overwhelming narcissism, entitlement, and disrespect make her extremely aggravating to be around. Her audacity to put down other actors for getting bigger parts than her and even dredging up Jake’s bad home life make hating her far too easy. Part of why the whole series is so engaging is because of how ''satisfying'' it is to watch her get taken down several pegs.

* SpoiledBrat: Has been given everything by her mother, including expensive vocal lessons (that aren’t really lessons at all), and expects everyone in the theatre department to respect her as the theatre prodigy she and her mother believe her to be. Even further when she attempts to bribe the director of ''Heathers'' for the role of Kurt after she was kicked out.

* BewareTheNiceOnes: Anna is generally mild-mannered and kind to everyone, but when Blue makes a low blow about Jake’s family issues at the end of Season 1, Anna straight up slaps her in the middle of Denny’s. While she hasn't done it in Season 2 (yet), she speaks openly of doing it again after Blue brings up Jake's family.

* SympathyForTheDevil: Anna expresses feeling bad for Blue having such an awful mother (and attitude) at times during Beauty and the Beast, though it's relatively short-lived.
* YouLeaveHimAlone: She's been longtime friends with Jake and he spends most of his time at her house, so she knows all about his family issues and takes it to heart when Blue makes shots at him for it.

The guy who is cast as Gaston in Beauty and the Beast and as Ram, and later Heather Duke, in Heathers. Jake is Anna's longtime friend and fellow theatre kid. He's boisterous, confident, and intensely loyal to his friends and the theatre department, in spite of his crappy home life.

** Veering further into WMG/YMMV territory, Jake reveals in a rant that his family "doesn't accept [him]" and doesn't like him being in theatre. It's not a far stretch to guess that he might be gay or bi and that his family might be homophobic, so his coming out to them caused them to reject him. This is especially compelling as musical theatre is an activity stereotypically associated with gay males.

* TenorBoy: Jake's main archetype in the theatre group - he is more comfortable singing in a higher register than is classic for men, as shown by when he sings for Heather Duke (though this most likely due to being played by a woman). Subverted by his getting the baritone role of Gaston.

The guy who plays Beast in Beauty and the Beast and Kurt, and later Heather Mcnamara, in Heathers. A high school jock who ends up in the cast almost by accident after auditioning as a joke. Though initially shy and self-conscious about performing, Elliot comes to enjoy his lead role a lot with the help of his new friends, Anna and Jake. He is also Blue's crush, though he unequivocally does NOT reciprocate her feelings.

Blue's so-called "best friend", who is a lot like her in a milder flavour. She is cast in the ensemble alongside Blue in Beauty and the Beast (even taking Blue's lines after Blue was kicked out) and as Ms Fleming in Heathers, before losing both due to being kicked out for either destroying costumes or for failing to show up to rehearsal, respectively. On top of being Giftedly Bad, she's also catty, manipulative, and tries to talk and lie her way out of the bad situations she puts herself and Blue in. She is never given a name or even a nickname like Blue, only being called "Sunflower" for the sake of this page due to her always wearing a sunflower sweater.

* FauxAffablyEvil: Though less loud and outwardly obnoxious than Blue, and at least has the sense to not badmouth in front of the director, Sunflower is just as bad as her, if not arguably worse morally. She cuts up Belle’s gloves shortly before opening night of Beauty and the Beast, purely to frame Blue for it, and later on opening night gives Blue a mic that she’s stolen from the sound booth and gives her the idea to barge on stage and sing (Many viewers have called her and Blue the same character, Sunflower is just in a more subdued font).
* HiddenAgendaVillain: Most of Sunflower’s actions are tantamount to making Blue, her so-called “best friend”, look bad in favour of herself getting ahead. Which would make sense … except that Blue does a stellar job of looking and behaving badly enough to get kicked out of shows all on her own, making Sunflower’s contribution rather superfluous and her motives ambiguous.

* StageMom: Subverted slightly in that her daughter is NOT reluctant in the slightest to perform (unlike in the classic version of this trope), but is otherwise one of the worst examples of this. She will stop at NOTHING to convince others that her daughter is a theatre prodigy, from paying a vocal coach at least $200 per hour (and rising) so she won't give Blue ANY critique on her singing, to barging into auditions and rehearsals to breathe down the directors' necks and give them an earful about “attacking” her daughter, to enabling her daughter to interfere backstage and climb onstage during the opening night of Beauty and the Beast. It gets to the point where even Blue seems to start to realise that her mother’s interference is hurting more than helping.

* ReasonableAuthorityFigure: Arguably the MOST reasonable in the whole series. She doesn't take ANYONE's poor behaviour or decisions, whether it be from Blue or from the rest of the cast or even the director(s). When Madison suggests adding Blue and Sunflower back into Heathers to fill the roles of Kurt and Ram, the stage manager is the one to unequivocally shut down the notion of letting Blue back in the show.

The director of Heathers. She arrives at the department after Director #1 is Put on a Bus, having previously watched the department's last show with Madison.

* You'reJustJealous: Practically Blue's mantra, stating repeatedly that the only reason people are hostile towards her is because they're ''"so jealous of me!"''

* YouLeaveHimAlone!: She's been longtime friends with Jake and he spends most of his time at her house, so she knows all about his family issues and takes it to heart when Blue makes shots at him for it.

* Fake-RealTurn: Played with - Elliot says he initially auditioned for Beauty and the Beast as a joke with his friends, yet ends up landing the role of Beast. Over the course of the series, he comes to really care about the show and grows as a performer with the help and support of longtime theatre kids Anna and Jake. He enjoys it so much that he comes back for the next show and even invites his friend to audition for it too.
