* AdaptationRelationshipOverhaul: Due to sexist editors not wanting her in the story, Merlai Anne was treated as TheLoad and was sent home shortly after she joined the Stardust Crusaders. Here, Merry Lion's relationships with the Stardust Crusaders are much more positive; all members are very protective of her and didn't object to her fighting alongside them when she gained a Stand. Gotaro Kujo, instead of treating her like an annoyance as what happened in canon, saw Merry Lion as his own sister and was torn up about her leaving after Godly Brand's death.

* EveryonesBabySister: Due to her being included this time around, Merry Lion is treated as this. As the youngest member of the Stardust Crusaders, Merry Lion's older peers are ''very'' protective of her, but none moreso than Gotaro Kujo, who ended up becoming a CoolBigBro despite his social awkwardness. When a Tarot Assassin tried sexually harassing Merry Lion while disguised as a ship captain, Gotaro immediately went after the guy to defend her life and honor, killing the Tarot Assassin in an underwater battle. She does gain her own Stand later on, allowing her to fight alongside her older peers on more even ground.

* MoreDakka: Hierophant Green's main attack, Emerald Splash, essentially does this by spraying a whole area in front of him with fast, hard-hitting emerald shards. It's deconstructed; as Hol Horse observed, Emerald Splash places quantity over quality and isn't very accurate, causing the shards to fly everywhere and miss its targets. To resolve this, Hol Hors teaches Clear Bloom how to snipe to hone his Emerald Splash better.
* MyGodWhatHaveIDone: He was not happy to learn of the things he did while BrainwashedAndCrazy, and joined the Stardust Crusaders partly to atone for his actions.
* NoHoldsBarredBeatdown: On the receiving end of one courtesy of Gotaro Kujo Goldstar's Star Platinum's Stand when they fought while he was BrainwashedAndCrazy, applied indirectly through his own Stand.

* SignatureMove: The Emerald Splash, Clear Bloom's Stand's ultimate attack. In theory it could neither be deflected nor dodged, but those with Stands of their own like Gotaro's durable Star Platinum and Dio's time-stopping The World could survive or escape the rain of emerald shards. Not to mention it's not perfect as it has a wide, unfocused dispersion which weakens the full impact of any strike.

* AdaptationalSexuality: In canon, Polnareff is heterosexual and was greatly interested in women, though he [[CasanovaWannabe isn't very successful]]. Here, he fell in love with and eventually married his friend, Hol Horse, who is male.

* FrenchJerk: He is a Prench fencer, and he used to be quite brash, hotheaded, and reckless like his canon counterpart. He gradually [[TookALevelInKindness matures]] during the Stardust Crusaders' journey to Neighgypt, and by the time he marries his enemy-turned-friend, Hol Horse, he has become much calmer, more patient, and non-judgmental.

* AdaptationalAngstUpgrade: Unlike his canon counterpart, Hol Horse was abused by his father as a colt, which led to him suffering TraumaInducedAmnesia when he manifested his Stand and shot his father dead while still young. Hol Horse's time as a [[ProfessionalKiller Tarot Assassin]] is also expanded upon here -- [[BadBoss Godly Brand]] frequently sexually and mentally abused him, with Hol Horse's PTSD giving him panic attacks and a deep fear of failure. * BewareTheNiceOnes: He's a friendly, mellow, and good-humored stallion who is very loyal to his friends and family, and enjoys hobbies like dart-throwing, reading stories on time travel, and listening to love ballads. He's also a faithful and loving husband to Gracious Stone, who was his friend and a fellow Stardust Crusaders. However, he's a stern and cold ConsummateProfessional, as well as a ruthless ProfessionalKiller when a situation calls for it; prior to his HeelFaceTurn, he was so deadly and efficient as an assassin that he became known as "the Golden Gunslinger". Even after becoming a hero, he hadn't lost his edge and is still willing to kill, but now does it only as a last resort.
* BigBrotherInstinct: Inverted; Hol Horse is the youngest of two, but what prompted him to betray J. Geil and abandon him to his fate was learning that J. Geil raped and murdered Gracious Stone's sister, Chérie Stone. To him, it was the last straw after having to deal with J. Geil's sadistic and creepy behavior, as he had an older sister himself.

* BirdsOfAFeather: The big reason why Hol Horse fell in love with Gracious Stone is because they're heavily similar to each other in many ways, such having a beloved sister they care about and being driven by desires that could be taken in a selfish direction (money for Hol Horse, revenge for Gracious Stone).
* BlueIsHeroic: Hol Horse has blue eyes, and while he initially threw in his lot with Godly Brand, he later betrays him and helps the Stardust Crusaders kill Godly Brand for good. Afterward, he would help take down some more villains like [[Manga/JoJosBizarreAdventureGoldenWind a paranoid mob boss with time-erasing powers]] and a [[Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureStoneOcean villainous priest who tried making a world where everyone knew of their fates]].

* BoringButPractical: His Stand, Emperor, is a Western-style revolver that can shoot bullets, which is quite lame compared to the more outlandish appearances and powers of other Stands. However, it is still a revolver, and as his mercenary background showed, it is ''extremely'' effective in taking down targets. Once he joined the Stardust Crusaders, his Stand becomes a huge boon to them, helped by his knowledge in wielding guns and other weapons.
* BottomlessMagazines: Justified. As in canon, his Stand, Emperor, is a Western-style revolver that comes with infinite ammo due to the bullets being made of spiritual energy.
* BreakTheBadass: He may be a ruthless, stone-cold killer and AntiHero (post-HeelFaceTurn), but his time as one of Godly Brand's minions was so traumatizing that he had a panic attack over the thought of confronting his ex-boss and losing. Following Godly Brand's death, while [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/974573079/5076050854 giving a court testimony during his own trial]], he became a shaking, stuttering mess as he recalled everything Godly Brand did to him, including seducing and raping him.

** Hol Horse betrayed both his partner, J. Geil, and his boss, Godly Brand, because of how their actions resonated with his own familial situation. J. Geil's rape and murder of Gracious Stone's younger sister, Chérie Stone, reminded him too much of his own older sister, which made him decide he couldn't work with his partner anymore and abandoned J. Geil to his death. And what cemented Hol Horse's HeelFaceTurn is learning how Godly Brand essentially doomed Gotaro's mother, Holy Goldstar, to a slow, torturous death, which reminded him of his mother and how she [[DomesticAbuse suffered under an abusive husband]].

* AdaptationalNiceGuy: Jotaro Kujo in canon was a JerkWithAHeartOfGold who beat up people and was a stoic, prickly man, but he is well-meaning and loyal. He also abandoned his family with the noble intent of protecting them from his enemies. Here, Gotaro started out like Jotaro, but TookALevelInKindness much earlier, becoming friendlier and cheerier. He deeply regretted his BullyHunter ways, seeing them as [[ViolenceIsTheOnlyOption the only solution at the time]], and he doesn't insult his mother like Jotaro does in canon. He's also a more loving husband and father in this setting.

* ObliviousToLove: Gotaro was completely bewildered when, despite his delinquency and BullyHunter methods, he still became popular enough to have hordes of female classmates attracted to him. Though it's implied he [[ICantBelieveAGuyLikeYouWouldNoticeMe couldn't believe anyone would be attracted to him]] and didn't know how to deal with it. He does marry Marine Tide, the mare who became the mother of Goldine Kujo Goldstar, so he did come around eventually.

* PreMortemOneLiner: Right before killing a weakened Godly Brand in the final battle, he says this line:

* CombatPragmatist: While he still uses his Stand, Emperor, like his canon counterpart, he is ''far'' more willing to fight dirty and use other weapons besides his Stand. Notably, he was able to [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/970572648/5070680485 curb-stomp Gracious Stone]] and severely injure Khadim Madh thanks to this mindset, despite both of them having powerful Stands. Another [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/970572648/5072869848 drabble]] reveals that he carries things like flash grenades, various daggers and knives, [[RazorFloss garrote wires]], and portable firearms inside his [[TrenchCoatWarfare duster coat]] in case he can't use or access his Stand. * CowardlyLion: Justified; he was subjected to horrific abuse and indoctrination at the hooves of Godly Brand, which destroyed his sense of self-worth and made him fearful for his life. Despite betraying Godly Brand later on, he was so terrified of losing to his ex-boss that he had a [[HeroicBSOD panic attack]] after a harrowing rematch with Little Fire. He eventually overcomes this thanks to the Stardust Crusaders encouraging him not to give up, leading to him not only [[NotAfraidOfYouAnymore confronting Godly Brand]] during the FinalBattle (despite being nearly killed multiple times), but also ''stripping his ex-boss of his [[TimeStandsStill time-stopping abilities]]''.
* CowardlyYellow: He admits to having a preference for the color yellow, and while still cowardly here, he is not a DirtyCoward like his [[Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureStardustCrusaders canon counterpart]] is. His cowardice actually stems from sympathetic reasons -- he was horrifically abused and indoctrinated to worship Godly Brand as a god. Even after betraying Godly Brand, his experiences traumatized him so much that he had a panic attack over the idea of fighting and losing to his ex-boss, claiming that outside of serving Godly Brand, "everything else is useless". Fortunately, he overcomes his fear of Godly Brand and helps defeat him by stripping his Stand, The World, of its [[TimeStandsStill time-stop abilities]].

* HappilyMarried: Despite starting off as an enemy as well as (by his own admission) a shameless womanizer, he eventually fell in love with Gracious Stone and married him. This ended up having a positive effect on him, as his flirting tendencies mellowed out and he became a loving, faithful husband to Gracious Stone during their time together.

* NotAfraidOfYouAnymore: Hol Horse endured horrific abuse at the hooves of Godly Brand, and even after betraying his boss, he had a panic attack over the thought of losing against him. However, thanks to the Stardust Crusaders' encouragement, Hol Horse not only survives the FinalBattle, but also uses time magic [[spoiler:after awakening his memories of his true divine self]] to [[TimeStandsStill temporally freeze Godly Brand]] and [[DePower strip The World of its time-stopping power]]. Even better, he calls Godly Brand's depowering his "payment" for his services as a Tarot Assassin.

* FriendlessBackground: In his youth, Gotaro literally had no friends to speak of. Kids viciously bullied him for being autistic, and many authority figures turned the other way. The closest Gotaro had to positive attention were his female high school admirers whose affections he [[CluelessChickMagnet didn't know how to reciprocate]]. This changed when he meets the other Stardust Crusaders; while things were initially bumpy, he began trusting them and came to see them all as his friends. Realizing ThePowerOfFriendship is what caused him to gain star magic.

* GeniusBruiser: While not a true genius, Gotaro is an insightful tactician who can spot and exploit enemy weaknesses thanks to his great attention to detail. His friends noted he also has an [[TheStoic astounding poker face]] that lets him intimidate or bluff his opponents. And unlike Godly Brand, who is prone to narcissistic rages, Gotaro was mostly able to direct his anger towards constructive purposes, notably becoming better at fighting and improvising.

* GoodIsNotNice: Initially, Gotaro was a well-meaning yet bitter, angry delinquent who used violence to punish bullies and others like them. He's also autistic, which left him with NoSocialSkills. While he secretly hated his delinquency, Gotaro believed it was [[ViolenceIsTheOnlyOption the only way to get the bullying to stop]]. He mellows out once he gains true friends and the bullying problem is properly dealt with.
* GravityMaster: As part of his star magic, Gotaro can manipulate gravity, which notably includes distorting time by either burning through it quickly or slowing it down. This allowed him to hard-counter Godly Brand's Stand, [[TimeStandsStill The World]], changing how the FinalBattle played out compared to canon. However, his gravity-based powers don't work against those who can defy, resist, or negate gravity, and they have a tendency to be more destructive.
* GuileHero: While not to Gorgeous Goldstar's extent, Gotaro was not above intimidating or bluffing his opponents, which is how he won against [[TheGambler Smooth Deck]]. This is helped by his great attention to detail, which lets him spot and exploit enemy weaknesses.

* LabcoatOfScienceAndMedicine: Gotaro's bizarre adventures in Mareioh and Bitaly saw him wearing a white overcoat with white pants and a white cap, and he eventually becomes a marine biologist working for the Speedwagon Foundation. It's noted marine biology was one of his greatest interests growing up.

Geil and Godly Brand, Hol Horse's respective ex-partner and ex-boss, both exploited and mistreated women (even killing them in J. Geil's case), and ended up dying as karma for their evils.

* StraightGay: Despite eventually getting married to Gracious Stone, a stallion, Hol Horse never showed any stereotypical behaviors. It's implied he fell in love with his husband due to a case of BecauseYouWereNiceToMe.

* TheAtoner: After Gotaro snaps him out of his BrainwashedAndCrazy state, he joins the Stardust Crusaders in order to atone for his actions as one of Godly Brand's pawns.
* AwesomeButImpractical: His Emerald Splash ability essentially amounts to this. While incredibly powerful and destructive, it essentially involves [[MoreDakka spraying a wide area with high-speed emerald shards]] and hoping someone will get hit. ** This is deconstructed in Gotaro's backstory. During yet another fight with a local gang, he unexpectedly manifested his Stand, Star Platinum, which proceeded to severely injure four gang members. Gotaro was so horrified by what he had done that he put himself in jail to protect everyone else from getting hurt, having concluded his Stand was an "evil spirit" possessing him.
* ObliviousToLove: He was completely bewildered when, despite his delinquency and BullyHunter methods, he still became popular enough to have hordes of female classmates attracted to him. Though it's implied he [[ICantBelieveAGuyLikeYouWouldNoticeMe couldn't believe that anyone would be attracted to him]] due to being essentially a social outcast, and didn't know how to deal with it. He does marry Marine Tide, the mare who became the mother of Goldine Kujo Goldstar, so he did come around eventually.
* PapaWolf: As in canon, he dearly loves his daughter, Goldine Kujo Goldstar, and woe betide anyone who harms her in any way.
** When Goldine was wrongly arrested for crimes she didn't commit, Gotaro investigated the miscarriage of justice and learned his daughter's FrameUp was part of a larger conspiracy led by one of Godly Brand's ex-followers, a priest who tried remaking the universe into one where everyone worshiped Godly Brand like a god. He wasted no time helping Goldine and her friends stop the priest, and his belief in his daughter's innocence was validated when a retrial proved she was framed.
** Before the above events, Gotaro initially considered [[DaddyHadAGoodReasonForAbandoningYou abandoning Goldine to protect her from his many enemies]]. It would have backfired as he never took Goldine's feelings into account, and he changes his mind once his friends confronted him and talked him out of going through with the plan.
* PayEvilUntoEvil: In his younger years, he often did this to villains and other people he found wanting, as he believed the duty of a hero is to punish evildoers for their actions -- usually by [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown beating them up]].
** When he was a delinquent, he went anyone who tormented the innocent and the weak, such as bullies, local gangs, and abusive teachers. This led to an incident when he accidentally inflicted severe injuries on four gang members by manifesting his Stand, Star Platinum, for the first time, prompting him to put himself in jail.
** Like in canon, he also punished Steel Red, a Tarot Assassin, for his despicable crimes against innocents (including his fellow Stardust Crusaders) by absolutely pummeling him. After that, he wrote Steel Red a check, the latter having "paid back" what he owed him and the Stardust Crusaders after Steel Red attempted to bargain for his life with the money Godly Brand paid him.

** One of the most prominent changes made to his character is that he was born with autism. This not only informed his development as a Pony, but also his interactions with others, including his family and his fellow Stardust Crusaders.
** He also doesn't abandon his wife and daughter in a [[ItsNotYouItsMyEnemies misguided attempt to protect them]], as his friends were able to talk him out of it. This led to said daughter, Goldine Kujo Goldstar, having a much better relationship with him compared to her [[Manga/JojosBizarreAdventureStoneOcean canon counterpart]], who despised her father for abandoning her.
** He also didn't know of Khadim Madh's FakingTheDead gambit because he and his cohorts were kept in the dark this time around, whereas in canon, he knew and only [[ButtMonkey Polnareff]] was LockedOutOfTheLoop. This ends up contributing to his RageBreakingPoint when he learns the Zebra who was one of his first friends betrayed his trust by making him think he died and manipulated him from behind the scenes.
** In the FinalBattle with Godly Brand, he realizes ThePowerOfFriendship, giving him star magic that let him empower his friends and burn through Godly Brand's time-stops. In canon, he developed the same time-stopping powers in order to beat Dio Brando/DIO at his own game.
* ThePowerOfFriendship: During the FinalBattle with Godly Brand, he realizes that it was his friends who got him to that point, which unlocked a new power in Star Platinum, [[StarPower star magic]]. This allowed him to both burn through Godly Brand's [[TimeStandsStill time-stopping]] and empower his friends.
* PracticallyDifferentGenerations:
** As in canon, he is the biological nephew of Gosuke Goldstar despite being a decade older than the latter. This is because Gorgeous Goldstar, Gosuke's father, had an affair with a young mare when he was well into his old age.
** He was also between his late teens to early twenties when his younger brother, Gota Kujo Goldstar, was born, as it was sometime after the Stardust Crusaders' victory over Godly Brand.
* PragmaticHero: Is this in contrast to some of his ancestors, being willing to deliver truly brutal beatdowns to villains and showing no mercy to those who wronged others. That being said, he still has high moral standards which differentiates him from being a NinetiesAntiHero, stating that even a 'bastard' like him 'can spot true evil when he sees it!'

* PurpleIsPowerful: He wore a pinkish-purple shirt in his high school days, while his Stand, Star Platinum, has purple fur. He is a renowned hero famous for defeating the all-powerful Godly Brand -- who [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/888225486/4949552270 previously tangled with 'Altocard' and lost]] -- despite being a mortal Stand user. Star Platinum, meanwhile, is regarded InUniverse as [[TheAce one of the most powerful Stands in existence]], and for good reason; not only does it have powers that can hard-counter people with time powers like Godly Brand, but it is also a LightningBruiser, and the power of its punches have been compared to that of Second Age firearms.

* RapidFireFisticuffs: As in canon, Star Platinum is such a LightningBruiser that it can throw multiple punches without pause. To show how just how powerful it is, survivors of Star Platinum's attacks have compared getting punched once to the force of a shotgun, while receiving multiple punches is comparable to getting hit by ''a machine gun''.
* ScrewDestiny: As part of his star magic, he has the power to defy fate. This makes him immune to [[WindsOfDestinyChange fate-based powers]] and preventing {{Seers}} like Khadim Madh from reading him.
* SiblingsWanted: Shortly after returning home from Neighgypt, he [[https://www.deviantart.com/comments/1/974573079/5076188968 nervously asked his mother Holy if he could have a sister]], as he missed his youngest friend Merry Lion terribly and wanted to fill the void. This shocked Holy so much that she fainted in shock, worrying him. He eventually does get his wish somewhat when his younger brother, Gota Kujo Goldstar, was born.

** During their confrontation, he angrily condemns a then-villainous Clear Bloom for using his Stand, Hierophant Green, to prey on the innocent, noting that what Clear Bloom did was "true evil" compared to a delinquent who beat people up and stiffed bad restaurants. He then declares that if no one would punish Clear Bloom, then he would do it himself.

** Due to his FriendlessBackground, he takes what few friendships he had ''very'' seriously. This is what partially fueled his absolute fury towards Khadim Madh -- he had genuinely come to see the latter as a friend, so when he learned of Khadim's manipulations (and his willingness to do it for the greater good), he saw it as the ultimate betrayal and [[NoHoldsBarredBeatdown attempted to beat Khadim up for it]].
