* TheHedonist: Most of the inspiration that motivates Alvin's actions is the inward desire for fun. There's simply no genuine self control and he runs on impulse. Regarding the needs of others isn't on his mind in those moments. This is also the reason why he tends to make pretty simple, mundane things more complicated than they need to be.

* JerkWithAHeartOfGold: Although Alvin is very much self-centered and can be a certified JerkAss, he does care about his brothers and tends to turn things around as best he can once he knows he went too far. More so if any one of his siblings gets sad or disappointed by his actions. At the very core, despite his misgivings, Alvin's a good kid.

* MiddleChildSyndrome: Shades of it. He was the oldest (in the 80s series at least), but his archetype always fitted this in his trio of siblings. Alvin's the BlackSheep, the troublemaker, he acts out, he's loud, and lives for attention in comparison to his more moralistic, upright brothers. He also has doubts in how Dave feels about him as a son. ''Chipwrecked'' has him questioning the extent of Dave's love and blames himself as the reason he's more than likely not searching for them. In ''ALVINNN!!!'', he states that him and Dave "have never been any closer" due to their common disinterest in math, and he loves this bond. Implying it doesn't happen often.

At the end of the episode he decides that older women are too much trouble, only for him to gain a crush on his new babysitter. In the second live-action movie he flirts with highschool girls. Then in ''WesternAnimation/ALVINNNAndTheChipmunks'' he crushes hard on his new principal for one episode until he finds out she's married. Then he gets a crush on an older woman passing by that same episode.
