It actually makes sense if we employ the ancient meaning of pharmacology, pharmakon in ancient Greek. Plato talked had views on medecine that pre-dated Christianity and the distinction between the physical and the metaphysical. He had a perspective where the physical, the psychological and the political were closely intertwined and had to be taken into account when administering a remedy.

!!Rhodes Island, a pharmacological company
Some might wonder how Rhodes Island can be considered a pharmacological company when they have access to a strong roster of operators used to throw themselves into battle. The contemporary use of pharmacology is to talk about physical drugs made in laboratories, it's hard to see a link.

To further the point, the modern timeline in Chapter 8 parallels Tallulah's backstory. In one of the most well known M8-8 cutscenes, Kal'tsit told Doctor that despite Rhode Island's well-intentioned idea and moderate approach, those who lived in oppressed societies in destitute will prefer the radical Reunion idea to Rhodes Island's because violence is the language they grew up with and accustomed to, thus it is the only way they can express their thoughts. The moderate nature of Rhode Island also means that their neutrality is the only thing that keeps them from being eradicated by governments around the world who see their organization as a threat, and can only operate under the radar of everyone else's. Most importantly, Rhodse Island NEVER ever seeks revenge against the death of their colleagues because the path of vengeance will risk twisting their ideals to suit any potentially malicious action. Such as Dr. Atro in Wolunmonde, The 41 operators who give their life in Chernobog(Especially Ace and Scout), Outcast in chapter 9, and of course, Theresa's death, which Kal'tsit made her point that she want to know what happened that day rather than who killed her.

Rhodes Island going into battle makes sense if they have a perspective of seeing armed conflicts as diseases to be cured, even if it means shedding blood on the way to prevent further harm. The odd nature of originium as some kind of psycho-reactive material helps linking the merely physical to more abstract ills.

Editing this because Talulah is definitely not naive and ignorant of how the world or people works, as her multiple conversations with Patriot could attest; what breaks her is the reality that people can do evil without any good reason or justification, which is what the incident in the village is. The villagers aren't starving, aren't threatened by the Infected, and they can even just turn them away from the village; instead the villagers choose to trap the Infected in the granary and starve them to death, ignoring their pleas and pounding for help. Talulah could comprehend and understand cruelty and selfishness for the sake of survival, but she couldn't understand cruelty for cruelty's sake, which is why she broke as she has to admit that Kaschey has a point.

By the end of Chapter 8 and the end of Reunion Arc, one question may linger on players' minds: How could Kashchey be confident that Tallulah will follow his path, even after she had rejected his idea right in front of him and stabbed him with her sword as defiance? The answer is because Tallulah falls into Kashchey's verbal trap unwittingly, and the so-called "curse" acted as nothing more than reinforcement to Tallulah's break of faith.

Since Tallulah argues against Kashchey's idea that people are [[BystanderSyndrome ungrateful, deceiving, and beyond salvation]], Kashchey's made her falls into another extreme: [[HeroicBystander everyone she helped will be grateful to her actions, so they will help her out of the goodness of their hearts, and those who are vicious will redeem themselves when they see the goodness in her heart.]] As we can see throughout Chapter 8. Tallulah sees her as an idealistic heroine leading the oppressed Ursus people against the injustice caused by Ursus's government. The problem is, however, that not everyone shares her ideals. Some rebels follow her because they just want to stay away from starvation. Some chose the path because they want pure revenge against those who harmed them, and some are simply opportunists hoping to reap their reward in the midst of chaos. For example, those who left Tallulah's group and live in an abandoned nomadic city only wish to have a better life. The mobs killed and mutilated Alina because Tallulah don't have any food to spare. Those who deserted because Tallulah's connection with Kashchey make her not a noble fighter in their prejudiced eyes. And finally, the last straw of seemingly harmless villagers who not only rejected a group of infected when asked for food but also tricked and locked them in an empty granary and left them to starve to their death as they pound on the wall for help. These incidents break Tallulah's belief that people are violent because they are scared and only wish to survive. In turn, it pushes her right into Kashchey's belief. The sudden change in Reunion shows how she had unwittingly become another pawn of Kashchey and doing his deed long after his death. Had Tallulah understood the complexity of human natures and that the world is never as simple and bipolar as she thought, she could have avoided the tragedy of Chernobog in the first place. Unfortunately, she didn't. and the only one who can act as her MoralityChain died without an arm and a leg at the hand of those who Tallulah tried to protect.

Since Talluah argues against Kashchey's idea that people are ungrateful, deceiving, and beyond salvation, Kashchey's made her falls into another extereme: everyone she saved will be grateful to her actions, so they will help her out of the goodness of their hearts, and those who are vicious will redeem themselves when they see the goodness in her heart. As we can see throughout Chapter 8. Talluah sees her as an idealistic heroine leading the oppressed Ursus people against the injustice caused by Ursus government. The problem is, however, that not everyone shares her ideals. Some rebels follows her because they just want to stay away from starvation. Some chose the path because they want pure revenge against those who harmed them, and some are simply opportunists hoping to reap their reward in the midst of chaos. For example, those who left Talluah's group and live in an abandoned nomadic city only wish to have a better life. The mobs killed and mutilated Alina because Talluah don't have any food to spare. Those who deserted because Talluah's connection with Kashchey make her not a noble fighter in their prejudiced eyes. And finally, the last straw of seemingly harmless villagers who not only rejected a group of infected when asked for food, but also tricked and locked them in an empty granary and left them starve to their death as they pound on the wall for help. These incidents breaks Talluah's belief that people are violent because they are scared and only wish to survive. In turn, it pushes her right into Kashchey's belief. The sudden change in Reunion shows how she had unwittingly become another pawn of Kashchey and doing his deed long after his death. Had Talluah understood the complexity of human natures and that the world is never as simple and biploar as she thought, she could have avoid the tragedy of Chernobog in the first place. Unfortunately, she didn't. and the only one who can act as her MoralityPet died without an arm and a leg at the hand of those who Talluah tried to protect.

To further the point, the modern timeline in Chapter 8 parallels with Talluah's backstory. In one of the most well known M8-8 cutscenes, Kal'tsit told Doctor that despite Rhode Island's well-intentioned idea and moderate approach, those who lived in oppressed society in destitute will prefer the radical Reunion idea to Rhode Island's because violence is the language they grew up with and accustomed to, thus it is the only way they can express their thoughts. The moderate nature of Rhode Island also means that their neutrality is the only thing that keep them from being eradicated by governments around the world who see their organization as a threat, and can only operate under the radar of everyone else's. Most importantly, Rhode Island NEVER, ever, seeks revenge against the death of their colleagues because the path of vengeance will risk twisting their ideals to suit any potentially malicious action. Such as Dr. Atro in Wolunmonde, The 41 operators who give their life in Chernobog(Especially Ace and Scout), Outcast in chapter 9, and of course, Theresa's death, which Kal'tsit made her point that she want to know what happened that day rather than who killed her.

** The event also embodies elements of the Russian Revolution. The different students represent social classes. Rosa, the aristocracy, is incapable of keeping order which results in the nobles abusing their power over the inferior classes. Zima, the proletariat, fights for justice against the nobles but end up causing harm as well. Istina, the intellectual, keeps reason and rationality yet lacks capability or resources, forcing her to ally with a group. Gummy, the commoners, did the least but suffered the most.

* Children of Ursus is similar to Lord of the Flies. Both are stories about a group of teenagers stuck in an environment in which they end up fighting each other that seem to convey that human nature is fundamentally evil.
