** A case of this being applied to a species of Pokemon: Website/{{Bogleech}} has suggested in his [[http://www.bogleech.com/pokemon/p778mimikyu.html review of Mimikyu's design and concept]] that Mimikyu may be the ghost of a Pikachu that's desperately seeking the love it lost after its death.

** How bad of a parent is the BigBad [[spoiler:Lusamine]] from ''VideoGame/PokemonSunAndMoon''? Is her behavior due to [[spoiler:Nihilego's]] toxins or not? Fans differ from her being a perfectly good parent until she became BrainwashedAndCrazy, her being abusive on her own but spiraling even more out of control due to the toxins, or her being in control at all times. Depending on how much weight one gives to certain revelations, the BigBad can be read as anything from a [[TragicVillain tragic victim]] to one of the [[VileVillainSaccharineShow most evil villains]] in the franchise. [[spoiler:Lusamine, non-stop: a woman who sadly lost her remaining sanity due to her husband mysteriously disappearing never to be seen again and her children running away from her years afterwards, or a BitchInSheepsClothing from the very start who knew almost nothing about the true meaning of love? Some even think that [[BrainwashedAndCrazy Nihilego parasitized her prior to the main story's events, thus affecting her emotions to an unimaginable degree]].]]

* A rather minor point of contention, but some think [[spoiler:that the leader of Team Skull, Guzma, was purposely dressed by Lusamine to resemble UB-03 Xurkitree, as both wear predominantly black with white accents, have spiky white 'hair', and bands around their wrists and ankles. This is not only based on their resemblance, but the fact that it is implied that Lusamine dressed her daughter, Lillie, to look like UB-01 Nihilego.[[note]]When you talk to Lillie outside a clothes store in Hau'oli City, Lillie states how 'I've always just worn the clothes that my mother wanted me to wear.' Meanwhile, pre-release materials went to great lengths to point out the resemblance between the two.[[/note]] In addition to this, some follow the theory that Lusamine also dressed herself to look like UB-02 Pheromosa.]]

** This, combined with the aforementioned [[GameplayAndStorySegregation highly implausible abilities ascribed to Pokémon in the Pokédex]], has caused some people to postulate that the Pokédex isn’t written by Pokémon Professors, but is actually publicly edited, similar to many RealLife repositories of information (such as Website/{{Wikipedia}} and Website/{{TVTropes}} itself).

The implication here is that while much of the information the Pokédex is presented ''is'' indeed based in fact, not all of it is.

“Publicly Edited Pokedex” is a theory I’ve seen pop up here and there, and one that I actively believe.

* A ''lot'' of Pokémon species get this in ''Pokémon Ultra Sun'' and ''Ultra Moon''[='=]s Pokédex entries, which are full of calling out undeserved reputations and inconsistencies. That said, while ''Sword and Shield'' would revert most of these (Electabuzz is once again said to cause power outages), Miriam -- the school nurse in ''Scarlet and Violet-- has a Hypno, which goes with its ''Ultra Moon'' entry saying that some help doctors in hospitals with patients who can't sleep. Just some examples:
